what to do when the house that im in has inaspicious number of stair steps?

Dear Satori,

To be honest, this resource is meant for one who is contemplating designing a new home. But once, the "steps are formed" or had been laid, there is not much one can do to change it unless -- one resorts to a major reno - which is not practical.
