I read ona few websites that the items for fengshui needs to be cleansed, how doI do it? Also, there are differing opinions about where to place the3 chi lins, some say outside, while others say just inside thedoor - facingthe directions of the 3 killings. Can you please tellme what is correct?

Also, with the wind chime, some say 6 metals rods and wood for other parts is better than all metal. Please also enlighten.

Thank you.

Dear Anon,

Some information on wind chime(s):-

1. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, six represents "big metal".

2. Thus we often hear advice such as:
- hang a set of six coins tied with red string or
- hang a six hollow rod wind chime

2. As six represents "big metal", this big metal is particularly used to neutralise #2 sickness #5 misfortune /sickness and #3 quarrels/conflicts/lawsuits etc..

3. A proper wind chime must not be colourful i.e. especially rainbow colours.

4. A wind chime should usually be made of:
a. entirely copper plated (metallic) : traditional looking ones have a pagoda (trigram or 8 sided roof) with a ancient coin hung as the clinger.

Some of these metallic (copper plated types) are very heavy and unless there is a gale force or tornado wind, it is not going to make a sound.

5. The wooden roof , six hollow alluminium rod and a wood clinger. This type of wind chime often makes the "most noise". The idea is that if a sector has very bad #5 or a combination of #5 with #2 with #9 etc.. then "making noise" or constant metal sound helps to neutralise bad earth #5.

6. Bad yellow earth #5 : the most effective cure is to use "constant" metal such as a "light weight" wind chime to constantly neutralise it.

7. Some use a grand father clock in a home to use it's constant chime to neutralise it.

8. Thus, a light weight wind chime has advantages especially in an open space and NOT a bedroom.

9. Ideally, if it is a bedroom, we try not to use a light weight one as it may make unwanted noise and cause us sleep distrubance.

10. Wind chime should not be used ina yin sector or if our home is next to a graveyard etc...

11. Chi Lins

11.1 Many (in fact) all of these items are commercial products.

11.2 Use it more as a decorative item than "in the name of Feng Shui".

11.3 Even for Chinese, many of these commercial products are newly invented: The principal purpose of such a product is to make a large dent in our pocket (in the name sake of Feng Shui).

11.4 During my parents time or grand or grand-grand parents time, many of such products are not even in a normal Chinese home.

11.5 The key success to these products are that they are manufactured very cheaply and sold to us : highly marked up!

11.6 Buy it if you like it, place it left right, side bottom, frankly does not make any difference! The sellers just sell it, and none of these come with a guarantee that within XXX days, you will get a wind fall.

12. However, some people, place hope on it. And buy it to feel comfortable, thats all! It is like some people buy lottery, with the hope that tommorrow, their luck changes...

13. Some sellers even charge a "bomb" for cleansed items. Thus all these items have one thing in common: $$$$. It makes you depart with your hard earned $$$$. Thats all!

14. Why are these commercial products so popular?

It enriches the pocket of the seller! And it gets close to our foolish thinking that we can get great "returns" out if it....

Warmest Regards,
Cecil
