Gay world (Happy World) Originally known as Happy World, Gay World offer an escape for families between 1930s and 1960s. Standing out from other `worlds', it housed a covered stadium that could seat up to 7,000. Top-class boxing matches, basketball, martial arts and other sporting evens were held here. Wrestlers such as "Tiger Ahmad" and "King Kong" attracted crowds. At it's prime, it was even lauded as the "greatest coveredstadium in South East Asia". The Octagonal shaped Happy world stadium was where Singapore first played host to Thomas Cup in 1952, which Malaya had famously won and reigned for three consecutive badminton tou…

This muslim shrine is behind a row of shop-house in the Tanjong Pagar area. Wow! This muslim shrine is there since 1891. And engraved are the words "Shrine of Sharifah Rogayah". And it looks like it has been taken care of! And someone or a group of persons still pay their respects as flowers still line the tomb... A search in the internet yield some resources and one of the several links shows:- http://www.spi.com.sg/spi_files/sharifah_rogayah_shrine/main00.htm

Dear Glyn, Glad to hear from you on actual happenings in Perth. Just to share with everyone: Currently a few users have used the " Anonymous " feature when sending mails in this forum. Here are the plus and minus points of sending mails Anonymously: 1. It is ok if you are sending many individual questions on each specific topics as the message will not be sent out thru the mailing list unless it has been replied. This is ok as, many users will then be able to read only the replies rather than the question first. 2. If any users do see " Anonymous ", it does not imply that it is only one person who sent it. As the adminstrator of this forum, I am able to see who sent the …

I HAVE BEEN STUDYING/READING BOOKS ON THE SUBJECT OF FENG SHUI FOR 3 YEARS NOW. IN THAT TIME IT HAS BEEN MY EXPERIENCE THAT ONE BUILDING WILL SEEM TO RESPOND POSITIVELY TO THE CURES OF ONE SCHOOL OF FENG SHUI WHILE ANOTHER RESPONDS BETTER TO ANOTHER, FOR EXAMPLE: BLACK HAT MAY SUGGEST BLUE/ WATER IN THE NORTH IF IT IS A PROBLEMATIC AREA,WHILE COMPASS WILL SUGGEST TO REDUCE THE NORTH WITH GREEN WOOD (IF NORTH IS A NEGATIVE DIRECTION IN THAT PARTICULAR HOME). IT TAKES A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TRIAL AND ERROR AS WELL AS INTUITION TO DISCOVER TO WHICH THE BUILDING WILL RESPOND.

Eunos Market & Hawker Centre once caught fire in the past and was later rebuilt. Trivia: Did you know that, besides Geylang Serai Food Centre, Eunos Hawker Centre has the second highest number of non-Chinese stalls in Singapore? I overheard a lady who lives at Eunos Crescent saying that there were very few, if any, good food stalls at Eunos Market & Hawker Centre. Most likely, she prefers Chinese food. She mentioned that she really missed many of the stalls at Marine Crescent Market and Food Centre, which was closed for refurbishment until next year. We joined the queue at one of the few popular “Handmade Fish Ball” stalls, the one indicated by the blue …

If you are talking about Chinese Astrology: http://www.lovesigns.net/horoscope/astro/wdragon.htm Yes, in general you are a water-dragon. Today, Chinese Astrology or what you have seen under the above url: lovesigns.net in this state is considered as only belonging to the Kindergarten to Primary School type of Chinese metaphysics. Under this Kindergarten level; you only need to know your Year of birth in relation to the lunar calendar which often starts around January or February to next same period. At the higher food-chain; where often: DD / MM / YYYY and even HH is required as inputs; is the Ba Zi or commonly called the Four Pillars or Pillars of Destiny. With greater i…

Location: Woodlands Street 31 Not many prata stalls in Singapore sells crispy prata. The prata should not be salty or burnt. In addition, this stall’s curry sauce is “creamy” and full of fragrant flavours: Eaten once a while is ok. Not for daily consumption. Two other locations has this: 1. Jalan Kayu 2. Joo Chiat : Mr and Mrs Mohgan's Super Crispy Roti Prata. Formerly the elderly couple were located at Crane Road. Their specialty is the sambal gravy to go with their crispy prata.

Bukit Panjang is Malay for "a long spread of hills". It is also the name of part of a range of low hills that run from Mandai, in the north of Singapore to Bukit Timah in the south. Forty years ago, the area was occupied by farms, granite quarries and fatories that produced household goods. There was a shoe factory, a factory for canning food and a dairy farm owned by supermarket chain Cold Storage, after which Dairy Farm Road was named. Bukit Panjang Village was found at a roundabout that linked Woodlands, Bukit Timah and Choa Chu Kang roads. In the 1980s and 1990s, the Government cleared the area around Bukit Panjang Village and built Housing Board flats. The name…

Dear Lynn, 1. Usually, you can get readily purchased coins already tied with red string with a tassel. 2. In your case, usually, tie the first coin with the second coin and then add the third coin, overlapping each other. The three coins can be `firmly' held together overlapped in a straight line. (Overlapped partially on top of each other). 3. The three coins are usually placed under the main entrance carpet. The symbolic gesture of stepping on the three coins is like stepping on `gold'. 4. You do not really need to worry as to how to tie them. But remember not to stack them together and tie them. 5. Here, symbolically, one must still see the three coins (even if they ar…

Source & Credit: http://www.tremeritus.com/2012/04/04/pap-the-master-illusionist/ Irefer to Mr Tan Jee Say?s article ?PAP?s low cunning ? a primary 1 half-truth?. This is what the PAP has transformed into for the last decade, telling us the half-truth! Let me quote you another example. Back during my NS days with the 5th Singapore Infantry Regiment, my CO was a president scholar. Because he wanted us to win the Best Infantry Award, he insist that we set a record timing for a 40km route march. On the day of the route march, he instructed all OCs to get those weaklings to report sick regardless of whether they are sick or not. Also, an order was given to our Medical O…

Dear Jolanta, Please see below:- It is best to avoid `fixed' template Feng Shui as it is not based on Traditional Feng Shui. When we consider a toilet, the more important concern is where is it located. Here the location of the toilet is more important: 1. Where possible it should share an external wall. 2. Not be located above the main door 3. Next to the main door. The above are some of the considerations. Thus the concept of the wealth sector at 3/4 wall of the toilet is if one looks closely, a flawed concept. `Fixed' templates is easy to follow but it does not have any merits under Traditional Feng Shui. Can we for sure say that this spot is our Wealth sector, a…
