Dear Anon, 1. Sitting facing one's good direction is considered as "Nice-to-have" and not a "must-have". Thus, as much as we have read that we should sit facing our good direction, but many of us do not have this opportunity to do so. One way is to see if possible all four of you can or some of you can sit to beneifit your good directions. It is good to just convey this to your three other team mates whether, they want to consider this option. (It may or may not necessarily work out for all). 2. From what you had mentioned, you have limited space to work on. Given that there is no option to change; frankly, there is no miracle cure in Feng Shui for this. Especially mos…

Dear Anon, Quote: Anonymous wrote: When determining the directions in a room, do we just read from a compass? Coz I read that in feng shui, 0deg is the south. This makes me think that I need to invert the readings of a compass. Try not to be confused with the Chinese Luopan often used by Feng Shui practitioners where not exactly "0 degrees = south" but rather, the Chinese Luopan has a marking South-North. If you do not personally use the Chinese Luopan to take a compass reading, frankly, and for the purpose of convenience, many Feng Shui websites, books and calculators have already, properly made it easy for the lay person. Thus, for example, in this website, yo…

Dear Anon, Feng Shui in many instances can "boost" the luck for conception. Frankly, it depends greatly on location, location, location. Many who had seen success are those where many good Flying star numbers under the "mountain" star can be activated. For any home, HDB or landed property, proper accessment can be made to determine and activate Flying star numbers: 1. #8- current prosperity star: Mountain Star #8 and or Water Star #8 2. #9 - future prosperity star (This star (if possible) should be activated for middle aged couples trying to conceive. 3. #1 - future prosperity star. Usually effective if the Mountain star #1 is activated. Thus, one do not need to …

Dear Anon, As your personal particulars quoted to him remains unchanged, then most likely he may have made a mistake in the calculation. As once the ba zi has been properly calculated, the readings will not change. Thus, in my opinion, he may most likely have a made a mistake somewhere. As it is certainly strange to see a reading change in two different sessions for the same person. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Cindy, In this sample report, (see attachment ) In general, a geomancer will select a name based on the breakdown of one's ba zi element:- Your Five Element Breakdown 1 Weak Water 4 Strongest Wood 2 Strong Fire 1 Extremely Weak Earth 0 Weakest Metal 9% 62% 25% 3% 0% This tells me that you are a Weak Water because of too little Water (9%) and Metal (0%). Your element is born in a season which is makes Water Element Weak. Thus, influencing the element strength of the other five element elements. The percentage of each element is considered after considering the seasonal strength and the number of that element presen…

Dear Steven, Generally, it is very common to live in a home where someone has died in the home. Often, if death is due to naturalcauses especially old age, no worries, here. For old homes, it is best to avoid having any of the posessions left by the person who had died e.g. his cupboard or any antique items. Sometimes, we are not sure what kind of items are left behind, if so, when we purchase such a home, try to get "vacant" posession of the home. And not keep such items. For those who can apply or use Flying Star Feng Shui; one way is to avoid an imbalance caused by too many YIN stars in a secto…

Dear Anon, Frankly, as you have mentioned, your dorm room is squarish. Many leaders (in the industry) started like yourself staying in a dorm. More importantly, mentally, one would have an idea of how, one's "work" flow is like. Asyour dorm serves both as a place of sleep and "study", try to work out the best layout based on your personal feel, liking and "habits". Since you are doing work on a laptop, some of us may feel comfortable working from our bed, while others may work better sitting on a proper table and chair. You have to see your habit and try to maximize your layout to the way you study and sleep. Some of us work better facing a window, while others may f…

The units that definitely does not have a poison arrow are thoseof #27, #28, #19 and #20 and #11 and #12 and #35 and #36. Usually for high floors, it will usually not be affected by the enclosed pool effect. Most concern for the pool effect are thoseespecially for 1st to 8th floor. In addition, most of the time, it will affect babies between a few months old to 6 months (respiratory problems). For adults it depends. #18 and #21 will getsharp angle of #19 and #20 correspondingly. A simple, car side view convex mirror can be used strategically at locations where the poison arrows are pointed at... without resorting to…

Dear Anon, 1. Frankly a small water feature is nothing more than a "play" thing.. Not effective and often, one becomes a "slave" as this small water fountain is always "thirsty"! Needs to be constantly topped up with water else it goes dry fast! Due to evaporation and air-conditioning drying the water. 2. For a proper water position, best to use Flying Star Feng Shui to determine where is the Water star #8 (current prosperity) star). 3. Similarly, you should determine where is the Mountain Star #8 and the stone can be placed at that sector. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: Hi Master Cecil. thank you for your fast reply. I have one more question. I have…

Dear Anon, Thank you for the illustration. The second door you mentioned in the illustration seems to be a passage way rather than a door. As the doors are on the side, I cannot see any other doors directly facing your "always" opened office room door. Thus from a shapes and forms point of view, it is perfectly acceptable to have this type of arrangement. Furthermore, your office table is away from this passage way which is good and that you had mentioned that this is an excellent facing direction for you.

Dear Anon, Usually many Feng Shui practitioners will practise: 1. Compass School Feng Shui : a. Eight House Theory or Pa Cai Feng Shui This has to do with the placement of stove/ bed arrangement/study area. If so, usually or often, there is no changes, here. b. Wall colour and wealth area Often, if the wall colour isbright yellow, bright red or bright green, then there may be some instances where there may or may not be changes to these walls. Wealth area willmost often be different under Period 8. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: Our flat is build in 2002 (Period 7). Dear Anon, 1. This type of beam or supporting structure is very common. Look at it this way, this beam is very "shallow" and I believe, that if one notice carefully, when we place the bed-head, and when we place our bed-head pillow, we will never be under this beam. 2. To neutralise a beam, there are many ways to do so, in addition to what you had mentioned: 2.1 Some Feng Shui practitioners asked that a red line be drawn along the horizontal beam. This is symbolic of a line of fire to destroy or melt the beam. 2.2 quarter flower conice to hold up the beam. When you move the bed-head slightly away from the wall, this is pretty good. The above are the most common met…

Dear Esther, Usually, from a Feng Shui point of view, often, the bazi element of the person is matched with their bedroom colours. Overall, colours that often may have an impact on sickness is Bright Yellow and in some instances, Bright Yellow and Bright Red. In other instances, Bright Green is another colour to watch out. In general, safe colours are metallic colours or white or light pastel colours. Since the woodstove is black, blue is in my opinion (in general) still acceptable in the bedroom. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Lisa, Honestly, planting a plant does not bring luck. But rather, it has more to do with the landscaping of a home. Locally in Singapore, many years ago (1970's) planting mango or even rambutan trees were very popular then. But, especially for the mango tree, once it matures in 10 to 20 years, it can grow very huge and often made the frontage of homes very "yin" as little light filters downwards. Where possible, from a Feng Shui point of view, avoid planting a tree where the tree trunk would one day "slices" the main door or a window of a home. The tree trunk is like a "butter" knife slicing thru - creating a poison arrow. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Lisa, Assuming that if your backyard is East, then most likely, your frontage is West? facing? If for example, your home frontageis West 1 225 degrees (between 247.5 to 262.4) and West 2 270 degrees (between 262.5 to 277.4) then one can take advantage of water wealth position if water flows from right to left and exits between 277.5 to 292.4 degrees. And it is advantages if water flows passing left to right of the main door. If you want wealth for the home, then the water or drainage of the above property should exit between 7.4 to 37.4 degrees out of the property. If one wants to have "Power and Authority" i.e. high positions in business, politics etc.. then try…

Dear Susan, Yes, so long as we try our best to follow some of the concepts. Not all concepts will suit our needs. What you are "now" practising is what I called "Commonsense approach" to Feng Shui! This is a natural form with or without Feng Shui! Many of us do very, very well with just commonsense! Many Feng Shui practitioners, visit our homes for just 1 or 2 hours and go off! And we are left to follow sometimes very silly advise! 1. Do not place a TV set facing our bed: In many of the past forum messages, I said this is fine. Do find out more why is this so? 2. School children can have open bookshelves at their desktop level. Again, check out what I had said bas…

Dear Anon, If you just do a search, you can find my article on guidelines for the kitchen:- You can go to: Tips For The Kitchen Posted in: Info :: Feng Shui Tips & Guidelines Posted on: Sun, 01 Aug 2004, 06:06 AM And read the above article. In fact, toilet guidelines does exist. In general, where possible, try to have at least one wall of the toilet sharing an external wall. If the house has more than one storey, try not to have the toilet bowl (on the second storey) just above the main entrance door. In addition, for other toilets on the secondstorey, try to super-impose the location of the toilet onto say the 1st storey layout plan. Try not to have the toilet…

Dear Anon, Frankly, you may have to first find out whether your posting to this new position is permanent or not. And since you were posted as a quick fix, try to speak to your supervisor (Boss) that you are equally unhappy with the new post. Depending on your current work performance, length of stay in the company, the better your previous work performance in your existing posting the better it is for you to "bargain" with your boss. Most likely to see if you can work in this position temporarily - as a last resort. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. The sleeping direction or best bed-head direction should be considered "Nice-to-have" and not a must have. 2. Even if sleeping with the head facing west, I personally feel that this position is the better choice. As you had also mentioned that the other position e.g. placing a tall bookshelf and placing your bed-head towards North seems weird. 3. Feng Shui is about Earth Luck. While feeling comfortable in a bedroom surrounding is about "Man or human" luck. 4. Thus what best is to sleep in a "normal " bedroom vs a "weird" layout bedroom. If we don't feel good in a bedroom.. might as well throw out the whole concept of "theoratical" feng shui. Worst t…

Dear Susan, Under the Holy Trinity of luck: 1. Heaven Luck (born with a silver spoon or not) 2. Earth Luck (Feng Shui of a home or office or place) 3. Human Luck (Usually, it is about us: have a feel good factor) Every home and even bedrooms have a limited scope to place a bed. Especially placing a bed that suits our bed-head direction - due to things like fixed door to the bedroom, windows etc.. Many of us try (nowadays) to do things in the name :sake of hoping to have better Feng Shui such as trying to place our bed-head towards a good direction. However, we should always consider this situation as NICE-TO-HAVE. And not a MUST-HAVE. What is more important is the Hu…

Dear Anon, Frankly, there is no major issue with the poster. However, if we do stare hard-enough at a peacock feather, many of us may see a large "eye" looking at us. Perhaps, this may make some of us feel uncomfortable especially since it is in a private bedroom. If you really feel uncomfortable whatsoever, then best to remove it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi Cecil, One more consideration I thought I might add - this is a Kan house (front door and unobstructed view facing south-2 and sitting north) and the annual flying star number for the South sector is 5. 2-5 combo is supposed to be inauspicious as well. So we have the 3 killings, 5 yellow and a 2/5 trigram yearly combination in the bedroom. What can we do to cure the 2/5 combination? Is it safe to sleep in the bedroom at all? Thanks much! CK
