Dear Anon, To Chinese, the red banner symbolises good luck. Actually, the best "counter" is (for the Chinese) is also hang a similar red banner on your front door. There is no religious implication especially if it is a plain read cloth (no issue with the elaborate tassle). Ideally, both parties hanging it - will equate to "square-one". Under the destructive cycle of the Five elements concept: the most effective element to control fire is water e.g. blue, black or grey. But it would be inauspiciousto haveespecially black coloured e.g. carpet matetc.... But blue carpet can be considered. Under the productive cycle of the Five elements another element that can help dra…

Dear Master Cecil Thanks very much your prompt reply. However, I think I did not make myself clear. My wealth element is wood hence I am a Strong Metal and not wood person as you mentioned in your reply. Can a Strong Metal person take up a Wood career since Wood is my wealth element? Dear Hock Chuan, Yes, for many of us, firstly we do not have an individual room to work in. And many of us work in an open office concept with system furniture. Because of this, there are restrictions as to where we can or even want to sit. It is good that you can sit facing a good direction. Yes, because of other constraints such as colleagues sitting with their backs againsts us etc... We don't really have much control over this. More importantly, since we cannot really truly change our earth luck, we should therefore look into the human or man luck aspects like feeling confident and good team /work plus networking etc... to offset some of these issues. This is lik…

Dear Mr. Foo, You see each section of the Luck flow is analysed individually. Meaning, that the 10-year luck is analysed only on 10-yearly luck. It does not use the 5-yearly luck to determine whether it is Auspicious or Inauspicious. So the same thing here is the yearly luck is analysed on it's own to give you a grading whether the year is Auspicious / Average / Inauspicious for example. A year can be Average, but have Very auspicious 6-monthly luck which only means to say that that year though is average is of a much better year compared to another year that is Average, but have Inauspicious 6-nthly luck. However, it isn't as good as a year that is Very Auspicious, a…

Thank you so much for your answer, so it seems that it would not be so harmless if I do make the fountain here, but when I am standing inside looking out (east), this fountain would actually be to my left hand side in the NE corner, what would be the implications now. Thanks again , Maria

Further to what I had mentioned, the key to understanding "LUCK" in Geomancy is the Holy Trinity of Luck: Here: 1. Heaven Luck (day we were born) - what we are suppose to be born with. 2. Earth Luck or Home or office Feng Shui. 3. Human (Man) Luck 1. HEAVEN LUCK Some people are born with a silver spoon thus, we say that they have a very good Heaven Luck (or excellent Ba zi) 2. EARTH LUCK Others gain significantly from a good or excellent home. Many of these homes have a "quantum leap" in Feng Shui. And money literally pour in because of the good Feng Shui coming from their earth homes (earth luck). 3. BOTH generally can be considered as "Money falling out of th…

When applying the Compass School of Feng Shui or taking reference of each direction; one should locate the center-of-gravity of the home. From this centrepoint, locate the west compass direction (270 degrees). This will be the direction of The Grand Duke/Tai Sui of a site or home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Pam, Since the Chinese use the lunar calendar to find out the year, CNY this year only begins on 8 Feb 2005. Thus, the year flying star chart should normally start around this time instead of 1.1.2005. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sophia, Please see below:- Often, if such a painting is drawn, the fishes should be in their elements i.e. water. This is because under the productive cycle of the Five Elements concept, Metal - Your three fishes paintingwith chillies, onion and tomatoes etc... looks like the fishes are close to being cooked? This is really an odd painting. It seems very cruel type of painting. Fortunately, you did not present it to the Shaolin Monks! Else, they may take you to task! Firstly, they don't eat live "animals" andif such a painting is presented to them, they may perhaps scringe with agony at the thought of this painting. Frankly, hope you don't mind me sayin…

Thank you, Master Lee, for your advice. I have two more questions, please. You wrote: To avoid lawsuits, you have to check out where is the Lu Chun Xing (Star 3 - Wood) under the flying star analysis. If there are such stars present in areas such as your main door, frontage, bedroom or study room which you use. These are the stars you want to neutralise so as to reduce any such lawsuits/conflicts. The solution is to have more Metal.Fire is also possible so long as there is no Star 2/5 present. These are the stars normally associated with the Lawsuit issues. Would this apply to a sector where the Lu Chun Xing is either the Mountain star, Water staror where it is just t…

Dear Sophia, One of the methods or "conditions" that can help change a home to a Period 8 home is (besides renovations) is to invite the lion (lion-dance) into the home. This act of the lion "threatening" the home and in return, the owners hang a red-packet or hong-bao is traditionally done on the 15th day of the 1st month of the lunar calendar. Thus since this year's Chinese New Year (CNY) starts on 8 Feb 2005, traditionally the lion-dance is held on the last day of CNY or 22 Feb 2005. The lion dance actuallycame from Western Asia to China during theTangdynasty. For those with private business, do take note that for start of business, one shouldopen business either…

Dear Sophia, There are generally three meanings associated with birds:- 1. Longevity Paintings usually with white birds signify longevity. And thus one of the connotation can mean that "100 birds signify living to" guess what age? 100 years! Imagine! even by today's standard, living to a ripe age of81 or 91 years canalready be difficult for majority of us. Not say until 100! Thus, I strongly believe, a painting with 100 birds (usually whitecoloured bird such as cranessimply signify this. 2. The Phoenix 2.1 In many traditional wedding cards; one can find a motif on the invitation card with a Phoenix and dragon motif. The phoenix represents (female - bird or yin), wh…

Dear Catherine, Generally, whether or not a date is auspicious or inauspicious depends on lots of factors. In terms of ba zi, luck is always changing every 10-year, 5-year, yearly, 6-monthly, monthly, daily and hourly. So each person's luck is different from day to day. It is very difficult to tell you for sure which day would be good or bad for you. That is where the general tung shu comes in. Every year, analysis is done to generally tell you when which day is aupicious or not. So most likely what you have read from comes from something similiar. A lot of this also depends on how supertitious and how much you believe. To me anyway, Weddings is joyous occasion. Usual…

Dear Anon, 1. Since your home isWest 253 it is consideredunder Flying star Feng Shui as West 1 facing. 2. For many homes; it is always goodfor a Period 6 to analyse the variousFlying star chartsof Period 7 and also Period 8. Given that Period 7 is over; yourhome is best evaluated on thebasis of:- 3. Period 6 vsPeriod 8 Is Period 8 better than Period 6? Or is it better to try to remain as Period 8. For a West 1, home based on both Period 7 and Period 8; the Flying star charts are not too good. Thus, in general, it is still preferred to seriously consider boosting the earth luck based on a Period 6 chart. If your wealth star is locked in the centre, it is difficult t…

Dear Carmela, Most important where possible for bed position, is the general placement of the bed to the entire room itself. This should always take priority, followed by when possible suitable bed placement based on your eight house directions. Sometimes the shapes and form placement does not permit you to place your bed in your best direction. This is not as important for example, if at least the bedroom sector is located within one of your good directions (ie North - Excellent, but if the bedroom is North), then even if you sleep West (ie. Spook), this is not as bad as you already get the luck form the North sector of the house. In your case where two person have op…

Dear Anon, I hope you can understand that since no two homes are identical or similar, it is quite difficult to place an exact percentage to a home. But often, especially in Asia the concept "the rich gets richer" remains very true for the fact that they often can buy beautiful sites to build their homes. The ideal type of homes are considered to have a "quantum leap" in Feng Shui. Which I had already shared some of the information. These types of homes usually have the characteristics of excellent external shapes and forms. While some others "borrow" or rather "rob" luck from others. Under the second category "rob" luck, here, you will often see a Geomancer scanning …

Dear Laura, This is similiar to saying that the wealth sector falls in the toilet / storeroom area so I must work in that sector in order to benefit from it. (ie. bring a notebook into the toilet and work). Unfortunately, when wealth stars are located in certain sectors of the house that isn't fully utilise, there is very little that you can do to fully take advantage of it. Rather than trying to see how you can activate such stars that are trap in less useful sectors of the house, you might as well spend more time activating stars which you can benefit from or fixing other leaks in the home. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applie…

Dear Oliv, You have to balance up the sector with the element which would be most effective. In case of 7 2 2, then Metal will still be most effective solution. In period 7, 7 will still be a good star, so not much of additional cure is needed. In period 8, Metal and Water would be good solution as it will create a Triple Element flow (ie Earth - Hope that helps. Dear Pam, A ditch is considered as drainage in a home. And should not be confused with the "water-on-mountain" theory such as whether it negates the sum-of-ten or not. What above means is that simply any water feature (not ditch) found on a mountain star particularly under this Period 8 : Mountain Star #8 (current prosperity) or Mountain Star #9 (future prosperity). In particular if "water-is-on-this-mountain" water on #8 location, then this will affect one's lottery, human relationship / networking luck. For a water star #8 it refers to earned luck and general prosperity of a home. In your case, it is best to look at the Chinese compass school of whether there is ac…

Dear Kelvin, Flying Star can be applied to as large as a plot of land, or as small as an apartment or a bedroom. So where you decide to take the facing direction or main door will determine how the flying star chart influence is for. 1. If you are doing a feng shui evaluation for the entire plot of land at Haig Court, then you take the entrance of the plot of land. 2. If you are doing a feng shui evalution for the entire block, then you take the facing of the entire block. 3. If you are doing a feng shui evalution for your own apartment, then you either take:- 3a. The main door of your apartment especially if lower level (ie less than 10 floors). 3b. The facing fro…

Dear Josephine, Firstly, N2 is a short form for North Sector 2. You see each direction ie North has a 45 degree angle. In flying star, each direction is divided into 15 degree sector, thus, you get N1/N2/N3. N2 simply represents 0/360 direction or true north direction. Based on what you mentioned, your home is a landed property. Why are using the backdoor as the direction? You should either use the main door or the frontage. For landed property we recommend that you use the frontage of the house. Furthermore, since the alternative backdoor is North is death for your husband, it means that will not be a good door for your husband to use. You mentioned, that your main do…

Dear Pam, Once a house has some water feature (ie drain etc). Then you have to consider the impact of the water course feng shui. Especially, the direction of the water flow as well as the shape of the drain. URL: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-wcourse.htm Generally, a drain near a house, poses a couple of problems typical problems like smell / flooding etc. Most of the time if you have a choice, it is best to avoid houses with such a drain if and where possible. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Samantha, One must not forget, that flying star is only one portion of a complete analysis. The most important factor to a good house isn't just the 4 walls of the home, but rather the external factors and surrounding. Regardless of whether you take the main door or the facing of the house. Both are not wrong, they are the actual flying star influence of the house itself. Even though, the charts may look different, they are the correct chart for the home. The important issue about flying star is to balance up all the sectors. Regardless of what is the chart, ultimately, the way to balance the sectors will not differ to much. Furthermore, as mentioned, flying star…

Dear Master Lee: Thank you for your previous response. If I cannot activate a mountain star in a sum-of-ten house because of the window, will that diminish the good effect of the sum of ten in that location? Thank you very much for your advice, Pam
