My living room and dining room have beams going across the ceilings. The ceiling is quite low. My house faces the SE, and has a large river flowing from the East to the West. I have large picture windows opening up to view the river and the hills on the other side. I live on a hillside. The back of the house faces the hillside and is North/North West. There is a long cutout in the front of the house allowing the front door to open in the center of the house the door faces East. My mother lived here for 30 years (house built in 1964), she never accumulated any wealth. I am afraid this will happen to me. (I have a home office here and have just become aware of Feng Shui.) W…

Master Lee, I just moved to a new office building. We all have cubicles. The problem is, there are overhead beamsholding light fixtureshung fromtheceiling, one is cutting directly on top of my head where I am sitting. As I can't move to another cubicle, what can I do about this overhead hanging beam? Also, aside from working hard, what are good feng shui practices to gain career recognition or promotions or to keep away from office politics. Kind regards, Anon

Dear Clarise, Well not to worry. What was often stated in the forum has more to do with "living quarters" e.g. bedroom or a home. Since yours is primarily a shop, one should not translate what you have read to what is in your shop premises. For shops, often glass / shining metal pieces often elude an air of space or give an illusion of bright / and space. The saying goes: " A little knowledge, can be a dangerous thing!". Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hey everyone, im a teenager who has no say on how the rest of my house is arranged, but i would still like to make use of feng shui within my bedroom, so if you could perhaps provide some advice, some links to information, or anything you think would be helpful, i would appreciate it! More specifically, should i treat my room as just a single entity, or should i divide it into sectors? Also, should i make use of true compass directions, or is the wall with my bedroom door automatically considered 'north'? Any advice is welcome!

In modern highrise living, the "main door" of an apartment unit is often just a means to get in and out of the house and nothing more.It is kept shut most of the time, and may even be located at the "back" next to the kitchen.Often, there is also no "back door".Would it be more logical then to assume the balcony, with its sliding window or door as the "main door"?

What then is the best option if: My best position is head pointing north. This means my bed must be placed at 45 degrees to the wall.If I align it against either wall that forms the corner,my head will be pointing in my worst directions,ie,NE or NW.Other bed positions are not suitable because it faces a mirror or the door. If I sleep alone in a queen size bed, should I sleep diagonally with my head pointing north?Which is more important - the position of the bed in thedesired corner of the bedroom or the head pointing direction?

Dear Anon, There are two practical remedies: 1. Check to see if your glass is reflective. If the facade or wide expanse of glass windows have a coating of sun-x (shiny),if so, or if it has a "mirror" finish, then, it issaid that the poison arrow is reflected back to the origin. 2.I am not too sure ifcertain condos permit sun-x film or a specific type since they always wanted to have a uniform facade or look for the entire condo. If not, sometimes a lighter coloured film can be used in the home, depending on your home. For example, if the home is bathed by the afternoon sun, then, such a film may be considered. But if your home is a north-south facing one, then, adding …

Dear Anon, When there is a double 8, often, the idea here is that "clear space" reigns over having a "mountain" at this location. This is why, often, it is best for the living room or frontage - be in this double 8 area. Depending on your layout of your home, between a storeroom or an open area, double 8's are better located with "clear - space". Given this, if it is possible to have a back door leading to clear space, than, your proposal to have a backdooris a possibility. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Mr. Lee, I ama little concerned about a move my co-workers are about to do. I work with 2 other people in one office. Right now, I am facing my prosperity direction (NW) and great things have happened since I've been in this office. Now we are moving to another office and I've been designated to sit at a desk that faces south - my bad direction. What can I do? If I move the desk so it faces the door, I would be facing East - the worst direction (death), so I have to face south, but the door would be on my left. I've already asked if I can move to the desk that faces NW, but the guy doesn't want to give it up. Is there anything I can do to make this better? Thanks, Valer…

Hello Master Lee, We are moving into a new home in June and also starting new careers - both me and my husband. Both ourKua no. are 4 Our main bedroom lies in the eastern section of the housewith the rooms doorwaynorth. On the nothern wall of the room there are built in cupboards and on the east and southern walls windows - That leaves me with the west wall to place my bed. Yet the door opens right onto the bed! Should I rather place the bed on the eastern wall andhang a crystal, or keep the window closed with curtains? I have two rooms in the SW section which I want to change into a daycare for children - yet all flying star matters on the internet advise against it?…

Dear Chung Mi, 1. In the past, I have mentioned about the idea of mirrors in the bedroom and the concept of: "How sensitive (thicked-skinned) are each of us?" 2. The "mirror" example: 2.1 Many of us have different tolerance levels. Often, we do hear of many persons who can literally sleep with lots of mirrors in their bedroom e.g. on the entire cupboards etc... And, these people, can really sleep "like a pig!". 2.3 But, we hear of the fantasy story ofa princess, who despite placing a single needle under her mattress, and stacking up many mattress, she can "feel" the needle. 2.4 So how sensitive are you? 2.5 Unfortunately, nowadays, our sensitivity (I suspect) has to…

Help. When you enter the doorway of my bedroom the wall directly across from the doorway has two windows on each side, the wall facing right has two doorways; one goes into the bathroom and the other goes into a closet. The space in between the windows and doorways are ample enough to fit a queen/king-size bed. But, would this be a auspicous placement for the bed. The wall directly to the left of the door entry is a full wall, so is the wall with the entry door. Where can I place the bed?

Dear Yum Chinn, 6. The main idea here is to compare this to an examination. 6.1 Many of us have taken exams where we had to answer 4 required questions. 6.2 The goal is to get as many marks as possible. If there are 4 compulsory questions and 100 marks in total, each question is worth 25 marks. 6.3 In exams, we should not only answer 3 questions. If the exam lasts 2 hours, we should spend 30 minutes on each question. 6.4 Teachers often say that if we only answer three questions and skip the fourth, we might fail. But if we try the fourth question, we can still earn some marks. 7. So, judging a home as “do…

Dear Vincent, In my opinion, since you are so interested in Flying Star Feng Shui, it is best to learn (study) or take up a course on Flying Star Feng Shui. This is because, in order to answer your question takes much time and duplication of resources. For the enhancement of Step 3: What are it's weakness. I am very sure or confident that if you do find out the Water or Mountain star based on such a guideline, you will be better off in your quest for knowledge. Clue: It would be naive to only activate either Water or Mountain star. But what is more important is(are) does the location fit the criteria for activating a water or mountain star. For example, if a m…

Futher to what I had mentioned, This are the traditional guidelines (note - Not bible, but guidelines):- Usually, the best facing direction of a home is one's Excellent direction. 2nd best facing direction is Prosperity. Even if it is the facing direction, this is equally find nowadays ("desperate people -desperate measure - since it is not so easy to find a house that fits to a T"). Often, for a CEO or Managing Director; a FS practitioner would try to (if possible) orientate his /her table facing these two best "work directions". The other two directions, often, is for the bed placement. But, often, it is still good to face the Excellent or Prosperity directions. …

Salutation Master cecil, I am very new to the Feg shui arena and would like to seek your advice on the following . I am working in a large organisation and happen to travel a lot . I am also studying for a competetive examination and my travel affects my study . As advised by the report, I have shifted my study position to North West . However, the NW corner overlooks a huge balcony and a window. Is this a right position to study . Also there is a toilet on the SW side of the room . Given the above conditions is NW still my best study direction . Or I should look at some other directions. Also, since I travel a lot can studying in a suitable position increase the…

Dear Paris, Parc Oasis Site Plan 1. In my opinion, if the price is right, it may be considered. 2. From a Feng Shui point of view, these are "point" block units and relatively safe design. Majority of the units also has its main door coming into a "display" wall area - and not directly facing the window area. 3. Of course, the most attractive reason is due to it's close proxmity to the MRT (walking distance). And it is at the cross-road towards the start of PIE from Jurong Town Hall / and convenience to the business park as well as close proximity to IMM. A more popular or direct route would be to the ever busy or one of the busiest round-…
