Dear Anon, For this year, if possible (not just the 7th month) avoid painting at North-West sector or the Gand Duke of Jupiter's location. For example, he does not like people to touch (e.g. avoid painting) or disturb him (e.g. avoid drilling or renovations) at this sector. If possible, also avoid painting at West or the yearly #5 sector for this year. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: I am thinking of re-painting the whole house. Is there any constraints like 7th month cannot do painting? Can we paint the ceiling for the tasui room for this year? Will re-painting our house give us luck? Thanks in advance for your answer.

Dear Anon, In my opinion, there is no significance other than the floor board is quite damp. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: What does wild mushroom that grows unexpectedly in one room of the house signifies?

Dear Aloysius, Good Question. The idea, here is to complete or try to complete all renovations at these areas e.g. North (3killings);West (5 yellow) and NW (Grand Duke) for 2006before we move-into the home. Usually for those who purchased a new home or a resale home:- 1. Select a good date for initial opening of the main entrance door. 2. Select a good date to start renovations. Here, so long as one has not moved-into the apartment, as yet; contractors hacking or knocking or painting at North, West or NW (2006) does not matter. 3. Select a good date to move-in. What matters most is that once we moved-in, avoid doing further work at these three sectors. 2007 is near…

Dear Karen, If you have around 3 "sha qi" then, usually there are two alternatives: 1. a six-hollow rod wind chime 2. a convex mirror Either one can be used at the balcony area. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Karen Call wrote: Hopefully you will be able to suggest a remedy or two to help me with the 'towers' visible from my livingroom windows. Also in the garden of my downstairs neighbor (3 floors down) is a tall evergreen tree -- its pointy top is also in the line of view fr…

Dear Anon, For such items, if not in use should preferably be kept in a storeroom. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, it is best to avoid to avoid a soild object such as the grinding stones at bad earth sectors e.g. #5 or #2. Do not want to inflame these sectors with such a "large boulder". Quote: Anonymous wrote: # I have one of those old style grinding stones - a wok-like solid shape with a hole in the middle, where one puts the grain to be ground with the help of a stone pestle. We no longer use it; we kept it because we planned to use it as a display stand, but for now it's just there because we can't make up our mind what to do with it. Does keeping stones like these …

Dear Aloysius, Ideally, the main entrance door should not be in a direct path with the balcony. If so; depending on the layout of the door; if the door is close to one side of the apartment, then logically, a partition can be placed between the main door and the balcony area or alternatively, the side of the sliding door facing the main door should not be opened. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear CM, For a home, you should be looking at the micro-level e.g. your actual condo or office unit's main door to check on suitability. Sometimes, when the building main entrance is looked at, it is often to apply Flying Star Feng Shui to look or study the qi of the building e.g. where to place a suitable water feature outside of the building and/or to build landscaping to suit the flying stars. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: Eg. I am an East-group person, is it ok to choose a home/office where: - the building's main entrance is facing NE, SW, W, NW, - but the actual condo/office unit's main door is facing N, E, S, SE?

I have a similart arrangement in the cubicle. The only difference is that the columns are ROUND. How can I do something about this ? In this sitting position, I am facing East to South which is good as I'm a East Group person. Another possible cubicle without columns have a South to West direction. I am not sure which is a better choice for me. Dear Anon, Sector Feng Shui or saying that SW = romance sector for each and very one of us may not be as accurate to activate romance luck. Try instead to apply Flying Star Feng Shui:- Specially for romance luck try activating a sector with water star #4. This then can be equated to you "SW" or so called romance sector. For example: MS#1 WS#4 Base#7 (Period 7) Then, since this sector has a water star #4 = good for romance. In addition, if the home has MS#8 or MS9 then activate with a mountain to improve networking and relationship luck. For example if a sector has: MS#8 WS#1 Base #8 then activate this mountain sector to improve networking and relationship luck!…

Dear Cam, Since the home is in escrow, do what you already. If you are applying Feng Shui principles, then the most important is firstly to check for any "threats" aimed towards the home such as a lone lamp-post slicing owards e.g. the main entrance or windows. Space-clearing is another commonsense approach to Feng Shui i.e. do not overly clutter the home, garage with too many boxes and storeaways etc... If you are still into Feng Shui, then take your time to understand key concepts like: Shapes and Forms Compass School : Eight House (like what you are doing) and if possible chart out a Flying Star chart of your home. Dear Anon, Generally, when we select an auspicious date, usually, (for practical purposes) it should be the start-date. As mentioned, this definition is more practical and can easily be applied. For example, lets take the case of a fixed location. More often, many people select a good date and time to go-into a new home (initial - opening of the door). Thus, for example an auspicious date could be tommorrow between 7 to 8.59am. And a very inauspicious time is from say9am to 11am. Once we entered the home (and in your case) bordered the plane, then this is considered as in general auspicious, already. Thus if we spent more time in the home say after 9am, it does not ma…

Dear Beverly, Firstly. you need to determine what type of mirror that your neighbour had placed on their door. This would determine the type of action or non action that you should take. Some mirrors are used for specific reasons or a combnation of reasons: 1. Concave mirror This is used often facing outwards of a missing corner to suck wealth. Thus. is considered one of the worst type to face a neighbor's home. 2. Convex mirror To deflect sha qi (poison arrows) or main door faces a sloping staircase 3. Othe types Flat mirror with or without ba gua trigram surrounding it. Concave or convex with ba gua trigram. Or door twin gods and or Qilin etc.. Try to find ou…

Traditionally, many Chinese would visit the temple to get their figurine(s) blessed. Many of these figurines are famous deities like: goddess of mercy or guan gong etc... However, I believe many products purchased via commercial means are considered merely decorative items. Selling products in the name of Feng Shui is very lucrative! As such they should be treated as decorations. When dirty, no issue in washing them. For such products` often, people buy them, gets dirty and many times the are removed from display or forgotten! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. The best is often to move out of the home during the renovation period. 2. For the Chinese, it is best to pray facing the grand duke. For example, it can be a simple apology by saying: "Apologies or sorry to disturb you, as I have to start renovations, soon. Some Chinese offer two incense sticks with 5 fruits on a plate to applease the god. As for the Five yellow or work required outside of the home place some metal between the home and the work to be carried out. Otherwise, can still do the above prayer to the spirits of the home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, To be honest, these are more of Chinese customs or beliefs than Feng Shui. And these customs should be consideredas "Nice-to-do" and not "Must-do". Thus, it would be good to follow the procedures (No harm). But if one cannot follow the procedure for one reason or the other, should not be an issue. Traditionally, it is still more important if good dates can be selected. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Shinta, Often, especially if one is doing DIY Feng Shui; should if possible also draw out a Flying Star Chart of your home. The purpose is to: 1. identify areas that need or require correction(s) if any and or to 2. Enhance certain sectors. The rationale for drawing a Flying Star Chart is thus to understand what are the intangible forces at a specific sector. In most instances, there is no harm placing a set of six-coins especially if there are sectors found with #5 or #2. But may not be too good if the sector has Mountain Star #8 etc... as it may hurt this wealth sector. In addition, a bottle gourd is traditionally used also to neutralise #5 or #2. And often …

Dear Shinta, In real life:- Huo-lu actually is the Chinese word for a stove be it a modern or olden stove. While in romanized Mandarin, there is no such thing as wou-lou. It might have being either wrongly spelt as referred to the above "huo-lu" or are you referring to a "hu lu"? A hu lu is actually known as "bottle gourd". Traditionally used by many practitioners to neutralise sickness stars e.g. #5 or #2. For example, some FS practitioners may require one to place a bottle gourd ( hu lu) next to the bed to "suck away " sickness? Thus of these bottle gourds have a cap some do not. And many have wordings on the bottle gourd(s). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jian Rong, Yes, some Feng Shui practitioner(s) often recommend a mirror at the stove area. One commonsense approach is that this may allow the person cooking to look at his/her "blind spot" or simply: the person who cook can see who's coming into the kitchen. On the other hand, it is the FS practitioner's idea that having a mirror like you had mentioned, below could "double" the food being cooked. Another senario is often to symbollically change the direction of the stove to a direction favourable to direction favourable to the occupants. Quote: jian rong chen wrote: 1) To put a mirror at the kitchen stove. Hang at the wall where the stove is. Yes, it is qui…

Dear Anon, To be honest, if it cannot be physically moved, not much one can do. Under the commonsense approach to Feng Shui, just make sure that usually the sewerage pipe (which is located in the kitchen and hopefully not directly above the stove) is in good repair. The commonsense, here is that should such a pipe burst, the kitchen area, items may be contamined with bateria such as e-coli and others. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Anonymous wrote: My cooking stove is immediately beneath a toilet bowl upstair. What does this imply? What are the remedies without moving the cooking stove. Also the bathroom and toilet upstair is quite busy .

Dear Carina, Frankly, it all depends on where the over-head beam is or if the overhead beam is at the edge of a bedroom; then how thick it is. Please see attachment. In the attachment one can see that although there is a beam around the "bed-head" area, one can still sensibly place the bed head slightly further the wall i.e. not touching the wall. And if we includ the pillow case and where we lie on the pillow, we can see that often, the beam is no longer above our head. Since you have not mentioned in detail whether your situation is like the above or if there is beam that is extremely thick or the beam suddenly protrudes further and not at the edge. If your situ…

Dear Baerbel, You mentioned that "that long road seems to directly run into the house". Generally, do check especially if the main entrance is vulnerable or any windows that is facing the long road. As most of the time, these two areas need the most protection from "sha qi" coming from the road. In many instances, (subject to a site review) many Chinese homes do try to place a "high" wall along the outline of the perimeter of the home. Often, this is the best option. If a window or main entrance is directly facing the long road, then; you may have to consider a convex ba gua mirror placed above the window or main entrance. This is the most common approach. While foo …

Dear Anon, Frankly, firstly, it is difficult to comment based only on a simple description. From what I can understand, it is quite common to have a situation such as yours. And one should not automatically have a pre-mature conclusion that what you are facing is "bad". If you are very very concerned, and may not have the expertise, then see if you can employ a competent FS practitioner to review your home Feng Shui. In Feng Shui, the way each home "interacts" with each other can have or may not have an influence on your existing home. In addition, Compass School Feng Shui (Flying Star and Eight House) should be applied to give a bigger picture of the entire situatio…
