Dear Dianne, 1. In my opinion, currently the web is relatively new and one can say that " Feng Shui site design " has never been proven to work or if one claims that a site is based on Feng Shui, it could either be a modern invention. 2. However, as many (many) FS principles or concepts are based on commonsense approach, one can safely use easy to navigate menus etc... 3. The Ba Gua symbol 4. Several FS practitioners and even authors may feel that the Ba Gua symbol especially the First Heaven Sequence (ref: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/pakua.htm ) 5. This symbol should not be used on the pages as displaying it is like display on the person surfing the page. 6. In the pas…

Dear Chee Kiat, In my opinion, there is really not much one can do in such a situation especially since this is the building. Since the toilets are there, it can be quite different from a home especially if the ratio of toilet area is much smaller than the entire building and in most cases, the toilet bowls may not be exactly at the centre or ideally should occupy one external wall. (if possible). What is more important here is that where possible, your office's main door should not be facing the toilet entrance. I believe this is not so; in your case. It would be better if the toilet has double doors or an extra door; leading into the male/female toilet or an individual…

Dear Anon, Perhaps, it would be more convenient to do a search e.g. under Yahoo.com and type in Feng Shui emporium ... I believe it is much easier to buy it from the internet especially in your part of the country. In my country, there are plentiful shops by the dozen scattered in my locations. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Linda, If you are applying The Eight House Theory in Feng Shui, you can browse thru this resource located at: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm a. Here, you must first determine or locate the centrepoint of the house. b. From this centrepoint take a compass reading aimed at the main entrance door. Reference material on how to get the centrepoint of the house: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-cecilcompass.htm c. Based on the above method, you would have then drawn the North--South grid of the compass direction and East--West grid. From this grid, you can then find out where is your bedroom located. For example, it could be the SE sector - as mentioned bel…

Dear Frank, 1. If one is using an ordinary compass, the readings are taken from the centre-point of the house to the main entrance door. 2. For those who use a Luopan, then takes a reading from the main entrance door. The Luopan has a `sitting and facing direction'. And the reading thus will show the `sitting' direction. 3. In my opinion, the most accurate reading with an ordinary compass is from the centre-point of the house to the main entrance. 4. If you need further clarifications or confirmation, feel free to fax your layout plan to me at 065 - 6482 0570 with a return fax number or email address so that I can confirm the centre-point. 5. If you need to change the com…

Hi Anon, Yes. The Auspicious Date for 12 months uses tong shu and ba zi to find suitable dates to an individual. Included in the package is 1 Yearly Report which allows you to generate a yearly auspicious to show you which months are better and which dates in the month are auspicious or inauspicious. The Monthly Report does more in-depth analysis into a particular month. You are given 12 credits to allow you to find generate 12 different months for a single person, or 12 different months for 12 persons. How you use the credit is up to you. All you need is the Name, Gender, Date of birth, optional (Time of Birth), and which the month and year you are generating for. Hope t…

Dear Rose, 1. Firstly, although white is associated with the metal element, generally, it is a very safe colour to paint, since it is also a neutral colour for the home. (Even though both of you are considered as a strong water person - it is ok). 2. Traditionally, therefore, white is a neutral and pleasant color. 3. In general, under period 8, pastel shades of earth colors like beige is usually a better option since it is the "color" of Period 8. 4. So, in general both colors are acceptable. 5. In order to fly to period 8, one may have to remove a portion of the roof or change some of the roof-tiles of the home. In an apartment, symbolically one change to period 8, …

Dear Becky, Becky Miller wrote: In analyzing the house number, which date is more significant: the date the house was first built, or the date in which significant changes to it occurred? Thank you. The year the house was built if it is2004-2023, then no issue as it will be period 8 house. If it is a built in earlier period ie 1984-2003, then you have to determine if there are significant renovations works done. If there are very major renovations done in after 2003, then you should use the period 8. Otherwise, you should leave it as period 7. You should be using the same flying star house built for the house number since they are based on the same analysis. Hope tha…

Dear Susan, Since the house belongs to your father, then it would be appropriate for you to `change' house. You have indicated that you have several problems. We would be most happy to provide you with free paid reports specific to your problem if you can let us know in what area are the problems. For example: If it is relationship problems, we could provide you with the number of Pillars of Destiny reports - in relation to the number of persons you are trying to resolve the problem. If it is frequent sickness/misfortune or finance, Flying Star can help. But, you may have to do some home work e.g. take the compass reading. However, if it is analysing the home, you must ha…

Dear Rebecca, Usually, we should take the shape of crystals based on various shapes that we like and thus wear them. Overall, there are so many different shapes and designs and it is quite difficult to place them into specific categories. The shapes you mentioned, heart, star are usually worn symbollically as a decor linked perhaps to `romance' or love. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Berna, I cannot `blame' you for being confused with so many " Types " of Feng Shui. Especially since, there are lots of sites nowadays using Black Hat Sect " stuffs ". In my opinion, any other `styles' are much better than applying Black Hat Sect. In Traditional Feng Shui there are principally two major schools- a. Shapes and Forms Feng Shui b. Compass School (Such as Flying Star and Eight House). As much as we would like to apply Feng Shui as fast as we can, it is best to understand the rationale for each School and try to understand the basics. For Shapes and Form Feng Shui, you can tour the resources in this site or simply get a book on Shapes and Form Feng Shui.…

Dear Yew-Meng, In my opinion, and I believe, it is the general consensus of many Feng Shui practitioners that there is no basis in the type of concept put forth by such books. The key ingredient of Feng Shui is based on the Five Elements Concept. Even under the Flying Star or Eight House (Compass Schools) if one check with many of the more popular practitioners; many would not agree with the type of concept put forth i.e. reversal of magnetic poles. The traditional Flying Star model is a horizontal model i.e. looking 360 degrees horizontally. This traditional model has been adapted to look at flats/apartments and thus; the `Vertical Flying Star model' was born for that pu…

Dear Anon, You may like to review the attached resource on the Devil's gate:- http://sg.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-gate.htm and on Dangers of underground water http://sg.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-under.htm Please see below:- In general, water positions behind the house is not ideal. And also, the main entrance door should not open to a house that is literally built on a slope. For example, the living room etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil 1. Feng Shui originates from China. And it was imported to Japan. Many Japanese practitioners apply 9-Star Ki which is one and the same as Flying Star Feng Shui. 2. A large tree is `dangerous' as it was felt that a spirit …

Dear Lily, Quote: May I check if our whole HDB block is being washed and painted by the Town Council, does that put our block into Period 8. The neighbouring blocks are of course painted as well ie. all the blocks (total 5 blks) in our area are painted. Painting alone isn't often enough to be classified as a major renovation. Major renovation is often classified by hacking of walls which change the internal structure of the house. Thus, your unit will retain the existing period. Hope that helps. Dear Laurelle, I agree that there can be `contradictions' in the application of Feng Shui. Should we place plants in the home? Even if one's element is for example an Earth person. We should also look at the external environment i.e. `threats'. `Threats' is an important component in how we apply Feng Shui. For example, if there is a threat to the main entrance... we try to neutralise it by using an element that destroys it. In the home, we should try to `cure' or neutralise `threats' or imbalances in the various sectors. This can be independent of our personal element. For example, if a cure required `wood' element or plants, we can still introduce it into the home. Even …

Dear Anon, 1. In general, it is best to determine which location is the kitchen in? 1.1 If the kitchen is located at the South (compass direction); then overall, a stove/cooker is able to face a water position. The consideration here is that South = Fire element and a stove/cooker can face a water position (to cool down the `south' / fire sector). 1.2 But if the kitchen is at the North (compass direction): then it is advisable as the Feng Shui book suggest; not to let the stove/cooker face the water position. Here, since North = water (the fire of the stove/cooker can easily be `extinguished'. For other sectors, in my opinion, if there is not much choice, Para 1.1 can st…

Dear Liza, Honestly, my parents were matched-made, and thus no choice in the selection of partners. But like many people, the key success to a marriage is that two "Hands" must clap-together. The danger about reading too much astrology is for fear of: Auto-suggestion and the other self-fulfilling prophercy. Our life is what we make of it. Many of the ingredients in life include: 1. Give-and-take (give and receive) It is said that the most used word in the English dictionary is " I ". (self). Thus, if one only sees that we ourselves are the only one giving but not take, then one day, we may just "blow" up literally. 2. Listening ear Have a listening ear to your partner…

Dear Anon, In Feng Shui, we should often look at the "bigger" picture of things. A bed frame can be made of wood or metal; often this does not really matter. In fact, it does not really matter if the bed frame is made of different types of wood - so long as they can "last" or worth the amount it is being paid for. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear CJ, Frankly, there is no right or wrong answers, here. On a macro level, often, a developer or owner of the entire building may have it checked. Thus, a macro level Feng Shui is done e.g. the facing direction of the complex. Especially for landscaping of the surrounding land area of the complex e.g. water feature, landscaped rock / formation. In many instances, if one is merely a tenant, and hires a FS practitioner, then often, a FS practitioner may perform a micro level Flying star analysis instead of just taking the facing direction of the entire building. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Facing direction of a home does not necessarily mean that you need e.g. the main, front, door. You mentioned: "Our main door is a sliding glass door facing east. " Usually this should be the frontage or facing direction of your "home" especially if there is "clear space" at the front for qi to congregate. Again, it depends on any blockages e.g. sides are "neighbourhood buildings" etc... If the home is facing e.g. a lake vs the frontage is facing the roadway.. sometimes, the view of the lake could be the frontage. Need judgemental skills.
