Some geomancers have the mistaken notion that all books must be "locked-up" or kept in closed cabinets. As they had read that books are like "knifes". In my opinion, this is far from the truth! Many of us throughout ages have a desk and all our frequently used books are at hand and easily retrieved and placed back on shelves. This is especially true for open book-shelves close to where our hand can easily retrieve and place back. We can then place all our current semester's books within easy reach. This is opposed to having to open book-self doors to retrieve them.

1. Nowadays, there is a concern of bird flu or those N1H1 type of disease. 2. Again, the architect or pool designer got it all wrong! 3. Such wall features encourage birds = bird baths. 4. For just a few minutes, I have seen at least 8 to 12 birds attracted to the wall water spouts. And a few even flap their wings and wash themselves on these "bird baths". 5. Don't get me wrong. It looks "nice". But, nowadays with the dreaded bird flu; we don't want their flu to be actively passed to us humans. What more from a shared facility. 6. Here, it is odd that we were advised to wash ourselves first before jumping into the pool; to reduce the incidence of disease; here, these bir…

Majority of the time, it is acceptable to have a water position at the FRONTAGE. The main reason is based on pure common sense. Whenever we have a pool of water or a water position: it simply implies that nothing else can be built on-top of or above this water position. If so, it allows for unobstructed view or clear space = bright hall effect. Which is advantages for the "collection" or accumulation of qi or allowing simply for better flow of AIR.

1. Case Study: Client wanted to install a lift for their 3 storey home. Based on a first draft from the architect proposed plans. 2. The original location suggested for the lift was marked in red "B" as shown in the attachment. 3. Although location "B" does not have good Flying Stars, but because as this is a semi-detached, home; the proposed location is at the frontage area. And it would be a waste if the frontage area is blocked by a lift. 4. As Shapes and Forms prevail over the stars (Flying Stars); the client was advised to place the lift, instead at marking in red "A". Which is conveniently next to the stairs. 5. In addition, the client was advised to avoid having h…

1. Often, a client who owns a penthouse unit that has a roof garden; would ask me: 1.1. Can I install a piece of roofing on my penthouse roof? 1.2. Many penthouse roof tops do have trellis. And most trellis are made of wood and are not enclosed. This is perfectly OK. As there are sufficient openings and if the trellis wood pieces are secure, no amount of wind would affect it. 1.3. BUT... if we are considering to install e.g. a piece of roofing SHEET: When we install e.g. such as the Dupont 2ply roofing material, if it is not secured properly and/or if there is an unusually large wind; may just blow the roof off. 1.3.1 And just imagine, the roof flows down and it may ina…

You wrote: "Since we moved here (one year ago) my husband and I have had many problems at work" Often, if one does not work from home or equally have an office away from home; then one may have to look at the Feng Shui of both locations. If, you feel that ever since you moved in to this new home and feel that most of your problems at work is a result of this; then, if one were to DIY using Feng Shui, can start looking at the home (first). However, it is not as simple as "pinning" or placing the entire blame on just the placement of the current workstation. In fact, if one were to truly try to apply Feng Shui concepts; it has to be as shown or highlighted in YELLOW in th…

You wrote: I am new to fengshui but i like to seek some advice from you about new house. 1. Is it appropriate for a property to have a protruding wall directly outside the bedroom door? If not, what can be done? In my opinion, quite a lot of "issues" has it's origins in common sense then Feng Shui. And because it is common sense, some may not see the association and then proclaim it to be related to (or in the name) of Feng Shui. For example; why common sense? Here, one must use some imagination: How often we see someone running or dashing out of a door (be it a room or even a bedroom). And instead of running into an open h, the child could not stop in time or the floor…

Most homes in general fall between a hidden gem vs a rotten apple... To assess this; and in Feng Shui, a triage is required to find out the home's rating: Good, the bad, the average or the "ugly"...

Please see illustration showing two common practises or options: 1. Option 1: Many Geomancy Practitioners recommend this method i.e. the placement of a hulu as shown in the attached. 2. Option 2: Practical approach, today. If the kitchen/service yard has a casement window; the window is either fully closed or open-to the max at around 45 degrees or less. 3. Frankly, personally, I am not in favour of installing a roller blind as a partition. As often, it moves when windy and can eventually get dusty. And I would not want to have my face touch such blinds as in time, it will be covered by dirt and even bacterial or germs.

From young all of us have an innate ability to use our instincts. Some may get it 100% right. Some may not. Some may get additional aid (e.g. Feng Shui) so that later, then can make an informed decision.

In my opinion, this is worth considering if you DIY Feng Shui. Again, this concept is based on common sense as well as doing it step-by-step in an orderly fashion:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/The_Customer_Engineer_Concept

In many instances, even if we try to build our perfect dream-Feng Shui home; there are often compromises to be made. Often, for convenience, we have toilets that are located at no longer choice location in the home. Or that kitchen stove could be viewed from the main entrance door. Thus we can try to build a near-perfect Feng Shui friendly home. But not always 100 percent perfect!

The Eight House concept is "as what it is". It is nice-to face one's good direction. BUT if can't; than too bad... Either you face your good directions or you cannot. It is like ebony and ivory: BLACK or WHITE no in-betweens, here.

1. Very often, many clients would asked me where should they or rather; where should they NOT hang "sensitive" photos (husband & wife wedding photos) and family portaits? 2. Again, one should think about whether is it related to common sense or not? 3. For example, if one is living on the ground floor and close to the "ground". 4. In the attached photo; of course, I merely use an outdated Iphone 4 with low resolution; and yet, I am able to take a photo of a 2nd storey apartment room. And if one can see, there are some pictures / photos hanging on the wall. 5. Thus, if one is living close to the ground and often, many don't fully close their windows; In such a situatio…
