  1. Dear Master Cecil: I have read your advices about hanging a wind chime: 1. The best is a six metal rod wind chime with wood roof and wood clangor. 2. The East is not a good place to hang a wind chime for bad earth element. Is NE a good direction to hang a wind chime? I am going to hang it outdoor so that it clings in the wind. With Warm Regards, Anon
  2. Dear Master Cecil: I have a I-Jing coin (round one, a square hole in the middle) that is carved out of a jade stone with a dragon clinging on the top and a chi-ling sitting at foot. This I-Jing coing has a rose wood base. Where is the best location to place this jade I-Jing coin? In my wealth sector? My wealth sector is water. Is there any conflict? Thanks for your advice in advance. Warmest Regards and Happy New Year, Jen
  3. Dear Master Cecil: Thank you for your advices throughout the year. Have a happy and prosperous new year. Warm Regards, Jen
  4. Dear Master Cecil: According to the Flying Star, the East is my disaster sector and I should forget about an East facing house. Nevertheless, the "Finding A Good House" report says that a house that faces the East is a "good house" for me although this sector represents misfortune and illness. Do you know where the conflict is from? Why East is a good house although it is not the very auspicious house? Thanks for you clarification in advance. Warm Regards, Anon
  5. Dear Master Cecil: Three or four thousands years ago, our ancestors observed the magnetic fields, relative position of the earth versus other planets within and outside the solar system, etc. and their impact on our health, wealth, happiness and invented Feng Shui. Ever since, the relative positions of the earth with other planets including the sun and moon have changed somewhat. Do we still practise Feng Shui the same way as that of the ancient time? Do you think some of the Feng Shui practice may have become off the track? Do we have to make some adjustment accordingly? The above are some of my thoughts. I do not mean to be contentious. May be some contributions can be made in those areas. Thank you for your time. Warm Regards, Anon
  6. Dear Master Cecil: It seems that Feng Shui particularly addresses the front of houses. Are there important elements in the back that are potential threats to houses? What are they? In accordance with the Feng Shui in Japan, the North East is the front ghost gate and the South West is the back ghost gate. They think there should not be protrusion or omission part of the house in those two directions. In addition, trees should not be planted in those two directions. Do those elements exist in Chinese Feng Shui? Thanks for taking time reading my questions. Warm Regards, Anon
  7. Thanks for your reply. I did follow your instruction: I first used a compass to get the North and the South, and then the East and the West. Secondly, I located the center point of my house. Thereafter, I used a protractor to get the reading of the direction of my house. My house is 160 degree from the North (zero degree). It is 160 degree on the right hand side of line that connects the North and the South (The East is on the same side). I did not understand the sentence "the flying star requires 15 degrees deviation". What does the sentence mean? My question is still about the direction of my house. Is 160 degree from the North a house facing the South East? or it is a house facing the South? Would you kindly help to clarify? I totally depend on your knowledge and experience. Thanks a million. Anon
  8. Dear Master Cecil: I saw the discussion of another member of the Geomancy regarding how to get a reading of the direction of the house. And you recommended to use a protractor. I am curious about the similar question. My house is at 160 degrees from the North. Is it a SE facing house? Or it is a South facing house? Warmest Regards, Anon
  9. Dear Master Cecil: My house is in a rectangular shape (if I am right, the car garage is not considered to be a part of the house -- main living area). My main entrance is centered right in the middle of the front of the rectangular. What is the implication of this kind of layout? Is it considered as leakage of Qi? Regards, Anon
  10. Dear Master Cecil: My next door neighbor puts trash cans behind cars in their driveway. They think that people on the street do not see those trash cans. But, their trash cans are in my immediate view. Sometimes, the bad smell comes to the direction of my house. I think it has adverse impact on the Feng Shui of my house. There is no fence in between our houses. What should I do? Warmest Regards, Anon
  11. Dear Master Cecil: I have read your comments on avoiding four metal rod wind chimes. Your recommendation is six metal rod wind chimes. I have a eight (round-shaped, uneven length) metal rod wind chime with wood roof and wood clangor. Is it a good one or a bad one? Where is the best place to hang it? I am a wood rabbit. My ?gua? is earth 2 - kun. I am weak water. My death section is in the north and the disaster section is in the east. My house period is #7 (1990). I appreciate your advice very much and thank you for sparing time to answer my questions. With Warmest Regards.
  12. Dear Master Cecil: There is a medium-sized tree (11 inches in diameter at its trunk) in front of the main entrance in my front yard; though it is not in strict straight line with the center point of the front door. I was advised to hang a Feng-Shui crystal over my front door because of this tree. If it is not for the concern of Feng Shui, it is a beautiful plum tree with dark red/purple leaves. My neighbors love its pink blossom in the spring and many come to take pictures with it. If I have this tree uprooted and removed, does it still make sense to have this Feng-Shui crystal hanging over my front door? With Warmest Regards.
  13. Dear Master Cecil: Thank you for your reply. I am still unclear about the direction of a house in terms of the magnetic "degree". For example, the NE is centered at 45 degree; therefore, degree 30 to degree 60 would definitely be considered as the NE direction (am I correct?). The East is centered at 90 degree; therefore, degree 75 to degree 105 would definitely under the influence of the East direction. What if the facing of the house is in between 60 degree and 75 degree? Do we strictly divide the zone by two? And thus, under 67.5 degree falls into the NE and above 67.5 falls into the East? Sometimes, we are unable to accurately measure the difference of one degree or 0.5 degree. Is there an answer to this kind of question? Thanks a lot. With Warmest Regards, Jen
  14. Dear Master Cecil: One of your comments is that the center point of the house is not as straightforward as the crossing point of the diagonal lines. I have drawn diagonal lines of my house and located the crossing point of those two lines. Nonetheless, there is a good size pillar that First, is off (not at) the crossing point of the diagonal lines of my house. Second, is very close and almost next to the crossing point of the diagonal lines of my house. Third, is from the first floor ground up all the way to the second floor ceiling. Is somewhere inside the area of this good size pillar the center point of my house? Or you will have to see the sketch of the house in order to tell? With Warmest Regards, Anon
  15. Dear Master Cecil: The North is my death section and the East is my disaster section. I used a compass outside the main entrance of my house to identify the direction of the house. The direction is North 73 degree, which is right at the border of the NE zone (centered at 45 degrees from the North) and the East zone (centered at 90 degrees from the North). My measurement may not be accurate. By tilting a little bit, the direction of my house (say, between North 75 and North 80) could be closer to the East zone. Does it mean that I am doomed to disasters? The corner of my house (which is sort of in the NNE) and the North of my house are blocked by the side of my next-door neighbor?s house (The North is my death section). Should I put a convex mirror at "that corner" of my house to reflect my neighbor's house back? Your advices would be greatly appreciated. Jen
  16. Dear Master Cecil: Would you kindly point out the position of the Grand Duke in the Year of Horse (2002 primarily)? I know that the year is about to end. The reason I am asking is because a big hailstorm damaged the exterior of my house in August 2002. I had the roofing and sidings around my house replaced in October 2002. I am worried that those maintenance work disturbed the Grand Duke. Thanks a lot. Jen
  17. Dear Cecil: At least I am able to identify one of the major leakage of the "Qi" (energy) of my house -- when I open the front door, the first thing I see right in front of me is a wall. And when the front door is fully opened, I see the sliding glass doors in the back of my house through which the Qi flow straight out of my house. I have put a drapery to completely cover the sliding glass doors in the back and hammered several wood boards to block the outside of those doors. Now, how do I deal with "the wall", which is the immediate first sight when I open the front door? Is mirror a solution? I appreciate your knowledge and experience in resolving those problems.
  18. Dear Cecil: I try to use a compass to determine the direction of my house. I have a car garage attached to my house. Should I include the car garage when I locate the center of my house? My "main" house is in a rectangular shape. I run into this problem if I consider the car garage as part of the house -- the house would be wider (in width) if I add the car garage; however, the car garage is not as long (in length) as the main house. Thus, I have an irregular rectangular shape. How do I locate the center of an irregular rectangular shape. Please advise.
  19. Hello, Cecil, I saw your advice to another member of the Geomancy regarding the north in the year of goat. Your advice was: "do not touch the north in the year of goat". I have a detached single family house. I suppose the north means the main entrance of the house regardless the direction of my house is facing. I plan to remove a tree and plant several small trees in my "front yard" in the coming few months (the year of goat). Because my front yard is considered in the north, I wonder if I should abandon the idea of removing and planting trees. Your advice would be much appreciated.
  20. I lost my job shortly after I moved to the house in which I am currently living. And it has been difficult for me to find decent job opportunities ever since. Without income, I am financially very tight. According to the "ba zi", I am in a decade (10 years) of adverse luck period. Nonetheless, I believe things are also wrong with the "Feng Shui" of this house. It is a detached single family house with a car garage. I am new to "Feng Shui". Would you kindly point out a direction as to where to look for adverse factors both inside and the landscape surrounding the house that govern job opportunities. Your help would be highly appreciated. I desperately want to find a way out of the situation I am in.
  21. Is the function of crystal to disperse negative energy and enhance positive energy? If it is, can we hang crystals all over the house to make sure that there is no leakage of "chi" on the one hand and the house is full of the positive "chi" on the other? I know this idea is kind of funny. However, it is really difficult to identify all the possible leakages. With Regards; Anonymous
  22. Hello, Cecil: Nice to read your advices. The front of my house faces the east -- the direction the sun rises. My front door is painted red and surrounded by white frames. The combination of those two colors is very appealing to the eyes -- my front door is the first thing people notice. However, Chinese seem to have problem with the white color. Does the white frame of my front door have any negative impact on the Feng Shui of my house? Regards,
  23. I have seen people talking about the "flying star". I would like to look into and study about it. Nonetheless, I do not know where to start. Is there a web link that illustrate what flying star is and how it works?
  24. Hello, Cecil: I have been carefully reading all of your advices. Here is my concern: There is a slope at the side of my house. I am worried that the wealth flows down along the slope to my neighbors. Is there a cure for this problem? Thanks in advance.
  25. Hello, Cecil, I have read many of your valuable advices. According to Feng Shui, the positive energy is weak if a person lives in a big house by himself/herself. How to enhance the energy in this situation? Is it right to hang crystals everywhere in the house?
