  1. Dear Marie, Apologies for the delay in reply. Usually, I ponder over questions ... especially if I am unsure about how to reply. If you can have a sketch of the layout it would be of great help. This is because, I feel that the placement of the bed based on good interior shapes and form should outweigh that of placement to benefit the person. For example, where possible, the bed should be placed on the opposite wall of the bedroom door. In addition, it should not be placed on the same wall as the toilet area. After considering the above main considerations and some other factors, then, it would be " nice to have " the bed and how one sleeps, face the directions, you have mentioned. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Anon, Overall, there are many other considerations in analysing the home: 1. Shapes and Form School. Where possible, the home conforms to many of the good factors of the Shapes and Form theory. I know there are many. But in `defensive' FS, try to see if the house is a whole house e.g. few or no missing corners. In addition, check to see where the toliet locations are. They should not be located at the main entrance etc... 2. In terms of suitability of the house, yes, try as possible for it to be `suitable' to the breadwinner (usually it should be your husband). However, as mentioned under para 1, Shapes and Form can make or break, the luck of the house. 3. If the house is not fully suitable to the breadwinner, at the point where, you have looked at the home: 3.1. Bring along your family members especially husband and children and seek their feedback. Usually, one should feel happy coming into the home. This would be a plus point. 3.2 Even if the main door is not that suitable to the breadwinner do check what is the intangible force affecting each family member especially in the bedroom. See or visualise the placement of the bed in each room? Can it conform to shapes and form FS? and Yet, be good sectors for each member of the family. 3.3 Usually after the above and looking at own finances (budget); Plus if it is not a new home, always try to check the reason why the owner wanted to sell the home. 3.4 It is also good to stand at the main entrance, plus look out of each window to look for any `permanent' poison arrows. If the poison arrow is aimed thru the bedroom window, visualise to see if you can place a curtain or blind etc... After this you could decide whether to purchase the home or not. 3.4 Flying Star can later be used (after the purchase) to neutralise any imbalances. Wishing you best of luck in your home purchase:) Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear Slawek, 1. In my opinion, it would not be advisable to have a skylight at the centrepoint of the house. 2. If one really wants to do so, have to make sure that the top-down view of the house is exactly a square. And in place of the skylight, a court-yard would be a better alternative. Here, square is represented by the earth element and under geomancy it symbolises authority and justice. 3. (The difference between a court-yard is that it is opened as opposed to a skylight where it can be closed ). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear Cer, In my applied Feng Shui book, there are three formulas that can be used to calculate the Qua number accurately. And they are applicable even if the date of birth is under year 2000 and more. You should use the website's free computerised software to check your Qua number which I feel is accurate. Ref: http://www.geomancy-online.com (Under the Free Eight House Report). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Linda, In my opinion, there is a very wide interpretation using numerology. There are various ways of looking at the numbers and `formulas'. Especially for the Cantonese (a dialect group of the Chinese) - especially from Hong Kong. (Origin - Canton). To the Cantonese, `four' means `say' or die. But from my personal experience, I have analysised houses and even is aware of quite alot of people with 444 etcs... For example, house numbers like #14-44 or even phone numbers like 244-4444. I found that these people are no less lucky then any other persons. If I were you, basing `luck' on just house number is incomplete. So long as one's house has good shapes and forms etc... I believe such factors are more important. Therefore, in my opinion, I would rather, not worry too much of your existing house number nor need to change it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  10. Dear Anon, It is not necessarily bad to have the bed located at NE compass direction of the home. The following factors could be considered: 1. Under the Eight House Theory, if this is an auspicious sector for you. 2. A more advanced method is to check the sector of influence at the NE using Flying Star Feng Shui. Especially to confirm how Yin is the NE sector? If the sector is TOO YIN, then, it is best to neutralise this or increase it with more Yang. But, again this has to be analysed before, one can tell for sure. Based on `feel', if you can sleep properly and there are no other issues affecting the person, then it is still acceptable. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Sudarshan, Based on a survey conducted, on this site, some of us seemed to be bothered by a mirror facing the bed. Whereas for some others, this is no issue. Firstly, you could check whether the mirror faces any part of the bed (not just the bedroom). If it does face the bed, do you feel restless or do not sleep well? If your answer is yes, then, it is best to try and cover the mirror. If so far, you are not affected by having the mirror face the bed.. ie. you can sleep peacefully, then, you should not be affected by it. There are several ways to `cover' the mirror: 1. A more costly approach is to change the door to a non-mirror door or 2. Buy those off the self opaque film for windows and paste it on to the whole mirror. There are either Do-it-yourself or get a contractor to install it for a fee. 3. Use posters or even gift wrappers and stick it on with scotch-tape it. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. Dear Evelyn, It is best to look at the overall `Shapes and Form' of the room and the placement of your table and chair. Here, it is best to position the table and chair so that one can immediately see who is coming into the room (room door). Since, you have a half-height wall (for support), this is less of a `problem'. In my opinion, the placement that you have currently is quite acceptable. If you can, you could try to have the blinds or curtains. But this is not a real issue unless, there are poison arrow(s) aimed into the house thru this window. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Eric, In my opinion, the Ba Gua symbol has been used on Toaist priest's clothings. Sometimes you find it on the front of their clothings and on occassions, it is on the back of their clothings. One may consider just tatooing the Yin-Yang symbol only i.e. which is found at the centre of the Ba Gua. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Sudarshan, Usually, the belief is that the flow of Qi should be `slowed' down in a horizontal passage. Depending on the width of the passage-way, potted plants could be placed on either side of the passage. The size of plants / pots depends on the passage way. If the passage way is too narrow, then, small potted plants can be used. The pots can be alternate to each other and the number of potted plants depends on the length of the passage-way. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Anon, 1. It is interesting to find out the survey results on the following question:- 2. Are you comfortable sleeping facing a TV set (mirror)? A short simple 3 questions survey. 3. The results of the above survey can be found under this URL:- http://www.geomancy.net/polls/ (The third last question on the above polls menu). 4. From what you had mentioned, this need not necessary be considered as `poison arrows'. Some of us may be `immune' to or are not affected by the `reflection'. While others may be affected by it. 5. Perhaps, you may like to ask yourself the following question:- "Am I able to sleep comfortably with it there (the closet mirror)?" If you either feel uncomfortable or would like to avoid having it there, then there are `self remedies' such as: `covering' the mirror with an opaque film or place posters or just scotch tape it with plain paper. (Using scotch tape is usually a temporary solution). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Maria, The distinction here is what tool is used to take the compass reading of the front/main entrance door? Here, in my opinion, usually the confusion arised because of the instruction(s) given by various parties. A. If one is using an ORDINARY compass, then use this method: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm One will normally not go wrong using the above method. B. But if one is using a Chinese LUOPAN, then, measurement can be different. Here, it is not uncommon to find out the facing and sitting direction. Thus, one has to be absolutely CLEAR which TOOL is being used. For the flow of Qi, on `paper' since the main entrance has been considered as the MOUTH of the house, then this is a crucial area of Qi coming into the home. On other areas of Feng Shui, one could also look at the frontage or the location where most light enters the home. - Here, it is still best to take the compass reading from the centrepoint to the main entrance. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. More pictures around the North - East / Centre and South - West flags. Look out for more volumes shortly on other items...
  18. In many of the pictures you will see that the flags are placed according to North, South, East and West. You can also see the romanised character of each of the Mandarin word for: North - Bei (or a good example is Beijing, the capital of China. Where `Bei' refers to North and thus one can now understand that Beijing is located in the `north'. South - is known as `nan'. East - as `dong' West - is `xi'. Apologies if the graphics is between 110k to 170k each. This is because, the finer details can be view extremely clear. Rather than less clear.
  19. Vol 1 - Photo shots showing pictures of practises done during the 7th month celebrations. Pictures taken on 15 July 2001.
  20. Dear Shirlee, 1. It depends. 2. If you have picture(s), I can take a look at it as the `fortune' or wealth can be affected adversely at such locations. For example, it can either be inauspicious or auspicious. 3. It is always best that you look at the commercial viablility mainly:- 3.1 History of previous business. Try to find out, the type of business and if you are going in on with the same business. Why did the previous owner give up? (if it is an existing location). How is business at the locality. 3.2 If you have the time, try to monitor the traffic and business (depending on the week of the day i.e. sample of business on a Monday-Friday? And Sat - Sun if you intend to open the shop. 3.3 The frontage of the shop is equally important. Since, not all cases are identical, try to find out more... Like I mentioned earlier, it can be a two edged sword... some sites can be very auspicious while others... a `disaster' for business. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. 1. Imagine the pain they have to go through to bind their feet. 2. And the agony of walking ...like walking on stilts.... 3. It was thought in the past that girls / women would look graceful with `small feet'. But really.. what an agony... I cannot imagine! Source and Credit: Some of the photos have `credits' on them. For those pictures - from unknown source. I will be pleased to add the credit to these pictures / illustration if highlighted to me...
  22. Dear Rosie, Apologies for the late reply. If you have determined using Flying Star and found that this is a misfortune area, usually this #5 should be looked at in conjuction with the other two Flying Star numbers of that sector. For example, mountain #5, water star #2, base star #3 - under Flying Star, and using the Five Elements concept, this sector is out of balance. You can use metal cures to neutralise the imbalance caused at this sector. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Md Haque, To take a compass reading, one should take the compass degree of the main door. The definition of the main door is the door where, you enter the living room area. Usually, this door has the door number on it. For reference:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil
  24. Dear all, I have taken interesting photos on the 7th month festival such as: - a `mountain' of "pineapple offerings" - flags showing North /South / East West etc... and more... I will try to compile them and post them to the forum as soon as possible. Warmest Regards, Cecil
