  1. Hi, I'm a yin metal (?rooster) 16-4-69, 22:00 hrs. Wood is my wealth element. I currently have a company name 'Metal Siren'- (Siren as in alluring woman). Since metal cuts down wood, is this harmful to the wealth of my company in the long term? Would I be better with a name with wood in it somewhere? Or is the company name still beneficial because it has an element in it that strengthens me?
  2. Hi Cecil, The purpose for determining the percentage is as follows: I was raised to be as pro-active as possible - all that american motivational literature et c. However, all through my life I've had dreams which predict the future, image for image, sound for sound, feeling for feeling, and usually four to eight months later they happen. I know this occurs, because I often wake up next morning, remember the dream because it was quite bizarre - then eight months later that EXACT situation happens. I've had ~250 of these dreams in my life. (Unfortunately no lottery gaming numbers!) The reason why I'm asking is, according to palmistry and some quite accurate Zi Wei Do Shu software that I have, I'm going to have a fairly rough ten years ahead. I'm happy to give it my utmost and use Feng Shui and be as pro-active as I can to ameliorate this situation, but this will take a lot out of me, and I see no point doing so if the benefits are going to be negligible. If Feng Shui and being pro-active aren't going to do much, I'd be better to relax, take it easy and conserve my energy to deal with the situations (As you can guess, I'm a yin person). Thanks for your quick response to my previous mail. Frase.
  3. Howdy Robert and Cec, In the Chinese Philosophy scheme of things, Heaven Luck is dominant, but can be altered a bit by Earth Luck (Feng Shui) and a bit less by Human Luck (Being Pro-Active). Do you have rough percentages for this, just so I can gauge how much Feng Shui and Being Pro-Active are going to make a difference? Say, 70%/20%/10% or 50%/35%/15% or 85%/10%/5% If you've covered this topic elsewhere, feel free to point me to that post, I just couldn't think of an angle to search on that would find me the topic I wanted within less than half an hour. 4. Hi, just a really small thing, When I login to the user forum (I touch type), it currently isn't possible to press the [TAB] button on the keyboard and then type in the password. From the password to the [Enter] box on the screen you can tab, which is good. I'd like to suggest an enhancement to that as well - when you've finished typing in your password, you simply hit [ENTER] on the keyboard and it takes you into the forum. I know these are trivial things, but when you log into the site frequently they begin to be mildly annoying. Other than that, love your work. Frase.
  5. Howdy, If your peepers don't work as well as they used to, there is a function in both Netscape 4.5 (and probably prior versions as well) and Microsoft internet explorer to increase the size of the fonts being viewed by your browser. Netscape: (the following is my shorthand for menus: ____ View _____________ Increase Font Microsoft IE: ____ View _____ Fonts Largest Larger ,/ Medium Smaller Smallest This will enlarge the fonts on your screen. Also, if you want to enlarge the fonts in your browser permanently (I think this works), Try Netscape: ____ Edit ___________ Preferences _ |+| Appearance Fonts Variable Width Font Size 12 |V| Fixed Width Font Size 10 |V| And you can change the figures 12 and 10 to larger figures. Microsoft Internet Explorer: ____ View _______________ Internet Options _______ /General\ [Fonts...] (Button - Down the bottom) Font Size Medium |V| Change it to Large or Largest. Hope that's pertinent for your needs. Frase.
  6. Hi, I have a friend whom I've just met, I am a yin metal dragon, and he is a yang fire rat. From my limited knowledge of Chinese astrology, dragons get on very well with rats. My birthdate is 16-April-1969 10pm, his is 2nd December 1955, 4-5am. This would make his kua number 9 meaning we are both east group people, which is good and people with 9 and 4 as kua numbers get on well don't they? The only thing is his element is the WORST possible element for me: yang fire. I know that to lessen the problem, I should introduce earth into the equation, but even with that, if our friendship is an enduring one, will it bring me misfortune and hurt?
  7. Sorry, My fault, The extension is a totally different building. The following is VERY rough, but it will give you a picture: ..___ ./.../ /__/ .|| /..\ \../ .\/ The first house, the diamond shaped one (at the top of this page) is one storey, the second section (at the bottom) is two. North is at the bottom of the page in roughly this direction: \ .\ ...\
  8. Hi Cecil/Robert. How many degrees either side of the directions given do the effects of the Grand Duke extend? For example. In 1998 the direction of the Grand Duke was 67.5?, so does this mean that if you sit facing 68?, that you won't have any effects from the Grand Duke at all? I suspect not, so it is probably 67.5? +/- a certain number of degrees. What is this number please?
  9. It's generally agreed in Feng Shui that dead trees are a bad thing. In Shapes and forms Feng Shui, can you apply the directions and elements that also occur in Bagua Lo Shu? For Example: My kua number is 4, therefore southwest is a bad location for me. Does this also apply outside? For example: Southwest is represented by the earth element. On my block of land, I have a large, dead tree in the southwest. Wood destroys earth, possibly weakening the influence of this negative direction? Or does that not apply because it is not relevant for the shapes and forms school? Would I be better to cut the tree down altogether? Also, from a yin/yang perspective, does having a large yin object (Dead Tree) in a bad location suppress that bad location? (Because we're often told never to put a Yang object in a bad location).
  10. Hi, I have a few questions - I live in a house that was completed in 1957, and is diamond /\ \/ shaped. In 1973, it had a two storey extension added to it that was bigger than the original home. The extension is shaped like a flat-topped diamond. .__ /...\ \.../ .\/ Because they are separate, do I treat each as a 'separate' house? I think the answer is yes, I just wanted to confirm with you. Also, if I do extensive garden work in a large garden, that will change the natal chart of the house on that block to the period in which the gardening was done won't it? As with other schools of Feng Shui, is the Flying Star school the same in that you apply the calculations to both the directions of the house as a whole, and to the directions of each room as well? For example, in Bagua Lo Shu formula for a person with Gua number '4', you'd tap the north direction for networking(/mentor) and money luck, even in a room located in the south of the house (although of course, a room located in the north of the house would be better for this). So, with Flying Stars, for a house you have the numbers 6 9 5 8 3 in the north, and 2 in the south (for example). In a room in the south, does the north area of that room have the same characteristics as the 6 9 , or is the whole room classified 3 as 5 8 ? I.e. if you want to tap the north 2 for money luck for example, is it possible to do this by enhancing this direction using Flying Stars principles? (Not that you would want to with a combination like 6 9 ). 3 Sorry if the numbers look funny, but they are formatted strangely. If there are two on one line, they will be the mountain and water star, and the one on the line below will be the star for the natal period.
  11. Hi, Love your forum. I've just come across Lillian Too's 'Chinese Numerology in Feng Shui', It raises some questions: Question 1. The chor sin star is stated as being opposite the siang sin star. Is this because of the assumption that the back door will always be opposite the front door? If the chor sin is the star associated with the back door, what if the back door(/secondary entrance) is located in a different direction? Question 2. On p.88 of the book, it details the 'Nine Star Colours'. These are: 1. White 2. Black 3. Green 4. Pale Green 5. Dull Yellow. 6. White 7. Maroon/Brown 8. White 9. Purple As the 9 numerals are also associated strongly with the elements, this seems at odds in some places with the colours that I normally see associated with the elements: 1. => Water => Black/Blue 2. => Yang Earth => Brown 3. => Yang Wood => Green (same) 4. => Yin Wood => Pale Green (same) 5. => ?Middle Earth => Dull Yellow (same) 6. => Yang Metal => White (same) 7. => Yin Metal => White 8. => Yin Earth => Beige 9. => Fire => Red (Purple can also be fire). Could you explain please? Other Unrelated Flying Star questions: Question 3. I think I may have 'offended' the Grand Duke. I dug a drainage trench on the east side of my house, and the Grand Duke is in the East this year. Is there anything I can do to 'apologise'? Question 4. Do you know where I can go to find out more on what the meanings of the number combinations (as well as how they are modified by the seasons) are for Flying Star Feng Shui? Question 5. Is 88 a more auspicious number for wealth creation than 888? I read in a Lillian Too's 'Chinese Numerology in Feng Shui' that on a natal chart 888 denotes wealth later in life and trials and tribulations before then. I want the most auspicious wealth producing number for a new phone number. Is having 88 in the phone number more auspicious than having 888?
  12. Part I: Hi Cecil/Robert/(?Anyone), Do you know a good book that deals with landscaping your garden to maximise the beneficial effects of Feng Shui? I also wanted to have a look at a book that discusses the water dragon classic in detail, not just a page or so, like all the texts I've seen do. Part II: I have a 25m x 45m block which my house is on, and the block slopes backwards instead of forwards (for beneficial chi). I'm looking for ways to fix this (obviously, long term, I'll want to move). Thanks.
  13. Hi, I'm looking for a website name (nothing to do with Feng Shui) and the one I want is taken. Instead, I was going to use that name, but put an auspicious (wealth generating in this instance) number in front of it. Does the number 888 fall into this category? 8888 might be better, but triple-8 is easier to say. Is 888 a very favourable number when it comes to producing wealth? If not, do you have any suggestions that would be easy and 'look good' in a website name like www.888name.com does? Oh, and thanks for all your other advice, it has been spot on. Frase.
  14. Hi, I may have missed something, but is it possible to have a list of objects that are 'difficult' to classify into their elemental categories e.g. Hard Plastic being the element metal. Suggestions: Rubber Leather Soft Plastic (but thick, like some flexible food containers). Glass Fur Cotton Hard Plastic Plastic Bags Laminates. Computers, televisions, radios Foam (Synthetic cushion foam) - like used with cheap mattresses What element are humans and animals? and any others you can think of that I can't.
  15. Hi, I own a flat and a bike that I like to keep in good condition. So I keep it inside. Is this a bad thing? Are bikes, like clocks, things of activity, and thus can be used to negate 'sha' chi et c. Also, could you please explain what 'things of activity' means(I heard Cecil say it when referring to clocks), and why they serve as methods of deflecting 'sha' chi? Can they be used as 'enhancers' in a particular sector? if the element is correct? Also, I was born at 10pm on 16th April 1969, and thus South East is my wealth direction, based on my kua number being 4. I really only have three places to put my bike: in the South East of my living room (My wealth corner, which is very important to me)which is the south half of the flat, The South West of my living room, (my romance corner - which isn't important at the moment). or in the North wall of my bedroom, the north section of the flat. Which would you recommend? Should I put it outside instead, if I possibly can?
  16. Hi, I'm a yin-earth 'dragon' born in the year of the cock 10pm 16th April 1969. I understand, using five element theory, that metal exhausts earth. Therefore on a subconscious level, I shouldn't be attracted to it. But metal is one of my favourite elements. No one has put social pressure on me to like these materials or elements, and I'm at a loss to explain why, if I'm an 'earthling' that I should be attracted to elements that are bad for me. The only thing I can think of is for 28 of my 30 years I've lived in a house that is primarily made of wood. Would I have been attracted to metal, because metal destroys wood (and wood destroys earth) hence the metal would destroy the wood, thus making things better for me as an 'earth' person. If you could enlighten me on this subject I would be greatly appreciative. Fraser
  17. Hi, regarding 5 element cures. I am a yin earth person (born 10pm 16th April 1969) - I know that I was born in the year of the cock, but I think being born on the 16th of April makes me a dragon. Yes? As an aside, where can I find information on which months make people which animals please? I currently work with computers. I understand that the element for computers is metal( and water?) and that metal exhausts earth. Indeed, my health has deteriorated from almost the first time that I got involved with computers. I have had insomnia and of late, worse afflictions. Computers are interesting, but meaningless as a profession for me. What I'm passionate about and have an opportunity to get involved in as my lifelong career is building rockets and sending them into space. Also another technology that is coming in four years (and it sounds far fetched) is shooting small satellites into space using a high powered laser beam and a special metal reflective plate. I know engineering is a 'metal' profession, but is there sufficient 'fire' involved in the rocket propulsion/laser beam side of things for making rockets to be classified as a 'fire' profession? Also, I understand that 'wind'/air flying things are a good area for me, so would the fact that these things fly be beneficial as well? IF NOT, can you think of any 'earth'-based careers that might suit me - a yin-earth 'dragon'? Thank you.
  18. Hi,is it possible to have a search function that also gives you the option to search all the conferences at once? I looked and couldn't find it. I could be wrong but that would seem to be a pretty useful feature. There may be a valid reason why you don't have this feature. Thanks.
  19. Hi Robert/Cecil. Thanks so much for answering my previous questions. GRAND DUKE. Are the compass directions you give for the Grand Duke the same in the southern hemisphere (I live in Melbourne, Australia) as in the northern hemisphere?
  20. The information I got was from a chart listing only the year of birth of a person and their element. (p214-5 'The Complete Illustrated Guide to Feng Shui' Lillian Too). I found this book a bit confusing, because elsewhere in the book, (p's 89 & 91) using the East-House/West-House method, as I was born in 1969, the element listed for that was wood. So, so far I've got: wood, earth, metal. (?Why the disparity - or perhaps I've just made a mistake somewhere) Would you be so kind as to tell me where I can find the information (hopefully on the 'net) where I can determine for myself that I am a 'metal' person? Once again, thank you for correcting me. Fraser.
  21. Hi, What happens when you've got a situation where you have a thing which has different elements for each of its different properties: e.g. a green triangle (wood/fire) or a tall, rectangular piece of wood painted red (wood/fire)? Can you increase the effectiveness of something by combining multiple properties in the one object - e.g. a cube shaped (with SOFT corners and edges) rock that is yellowish/earth coloured, in the centre of the house - thus combining four 'earth'-like properties - shape, element, colour and location.
  22. Hi there, Large, bold vertical stripes on my clothing - will this generate sha(?) chi, or will it be good because the clothes mould to the lines of my body and/or they fold a bit, so they are actually wavy lines not straight, and thus generate sheng chi? How do you work out what elements hybrid colours, materials and shapes are eg: Colours: yellow-green, purple, cream, clear(?water), orange, very pale light blue, dark grey, and in general other dark colours that are probably midpoint between black and some other elemental colour and those midpoint between white and some other elemental colour. what about situations where you have equal Shapes: pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, diamond /\ \/ , a square with a triangle on top of it, et c. Materials: glass, air, electricity, fur, leather, wind, synthetic cloth, plastic, canvas.
  23. Hi there, I read somewhere (I could be incorrect) that putting water element related things in the fire element direction can have disastrous results - particularly for someone who benefits from the fire element. Is the same (but to a lesser extent for me) true of putting say metal element things in a wood direction or vice versa? I'm an earth person (earthling?) so wood is not beneficial for me, if I want to mask a sharp edge, is it sufficient to just cover it with something (other than a trailing plant)? If so, does anybody have any ideas that they use?
  24. Hi there, I'm an 'earth' person, born at (best guess) 10pm, 16-4-1969. Thus, the fire element is beneficial for me, and the wood element is 'maleficial'. I have blue-green tiles on the floor of my bathroom - is blue green a water element colour or is it wood related. If it is wood related, should I attempt to ameliorate this by putting red towels (fire) in the south of my bathroom, which (fortunately) is where the towel rail is?
