Tree in house front

Hi Master Lee,

I used to have a tree in front of the house. We recently had the tree removed (cut at the ground level, about 1-2 inches above the ground) since it was damaging the concrete driveway and was about to damage the foundation (per a contractor).

Since the removal of the tree, we see some health and minor unexpected financial issues. Also, we see that there's a cleaver arrow coming from a building opposite to the house.

Upon a local advice, we did do some ceremony around the tree a few weeks after cutting the tree. Still no complete relief.

1. What's the best cure? We don't see a simple way to hide a convex ba gua mirror in the front of the house. Is that the best solution?

Can we hang a plant or a wind-chime?

2. Alternatively, we're considering planting another tree near the old one. Would a Japanese maple tree (with green leaves) be good? (I'm unsure what type of tree we removed). Asking the question since the leaves of the maple tree is pointed.

The tree is about 25-27 feet from the front-door. The cleaver-like building side is about 50-60 feet away from the house. The house faces almost exactly north (may be a couple of degrees to the west). And the tree is almost in the middle of the front-yard when measuring sideways. (so when facing the house, the tree is not on the left or right of the lot, in the center. And in the front..)

Please advise.

Sincere Thanks.

1. Yes, based on what you wrote, in my opinion, the best alternative is another tree - given that if it has height and can screen away the cleaver arrow coming from the building opposite, this is the best solution for your problem.

2. Best to seek advise from your local florist for trees that does nothave the same type of shallow roots of the maple type of tree.

3. Again, the above is still the 100 percent best solution.

4. I believe since you have had the maple leave, you are living in a country with 4 seasons. In Singapore, which is at the equator, the most common plant or the most popular here are several varities including the "Lipstick Palm" or called the "Maharaja". You can do a search for it. The only drawback for this is that it is a bamboo type where it sprouts its roots but controllable. Again best to seek advice from your local horticulture people or any respectable florist.

5. "If it cannot be seen, it no longer becomes a threat" - This is the best protection. Thus, if you have open windows and if there is a poison arrow aimed "thru" this; then simple solution is to install a day curtain and draw this down.

6. For the wind-chime, it has to be strategically placed directly in the line of sight of the cleaver of the opposite building. Best is the 6 hollow rod type of wind chime.

7. A convex mirror also has to be in the line of sight of the opposite building pointed arrow and not "hidden" away. Often the best placement of Para 6 or 7 is to place it above the main entrance door if the poison arrow is aimed at such or at the outer carpark shade roofing.

8. Has to check to see where is the exact line of sight. It may even be "attacking" the row of windows if any. Currently, the clue is roughly where the tree was located, at.

9. Thus 1st choice is a replacement tree. Second choice - it depends on what type of wind chime used and even for the ba gua mirror; size matters. The convex mirror should be those standard around 3 inches diameter without the elaborate ba gua trigram surrounding it. As the trigrams serve more for "protection" against evil spirits - which you don't really require this type.
