These are some considerations:
1. Please refer to attachment.
2. If based on the Original or existing layout plan; then close the toilet door when not in use.
3. You can refer to Options A orB as possible viable alternatives. (Subject to structural engineering approval or your country's building approval on such alternation(s) )

Thank you for your quick reply. It was very helpful. I can't change the door placement in the apartment but I can shut the door when not using it if I choose this floorplan.
1. Can you tell me what it means from a feng shui apartment to have this type of floor plan, ie why we should close thebathroom door and what would happen if you don't.I'm concerned, but I don't want to be paranoid.
2. Also, I read that having a bathroom in the middle of the house is very bad. Would the bathroom in this floor plan be considered in the middle of the floor plan?
Thanks for your advise.
TT

You wrote: "1. Can you tell me what it means from a feng shui apartment to have this type of floor plan, ie why we should close the bathroom door and what would happen if you don't. I'm concerned, but I don't want to be paranoid."

There are two main considerations:

1. Commonsense Feng Shui & First Impressions

1.1. When it comes to first impressions, it’s practical to ensure that visually unappealing features aren’t immediately visible upon entering your home. For example, if the toilet door is left open and someone steps in, their first sight may be the wash basin or even a mirror, which can give an undesirable initial feel.
1.2. Similarly, placing a dining table too close to the main entrance can sometimes lead visitors to see a cluttered or messy space right away. These examples show that “first impressions count,” and are less about strict Feng Shui rules and more about common sense.
1.3. Another common concern is having a mirror facing the main door. Some people find it unsettling to see a reflection or a sudden movement as soon as they enter. This, again, is as much about practical comfort as it is about Feng Shui.

Many of these concerns are more about our instinct for neatness and comfort rather than rigid superstition. Unless it genuinely causes discomfort or anxiety, there’s little to worry about.

---

2. Bathroom in the Center of the Home

You mentioned concerns about having a bathroom in the middle of the house. Based on a visual assessment, it does seem that in this layout, the toilet is indeed at the central point of the home.

If relocating it isn’t possible, the practical solution is simple: keep the toilet door closed when not in use. This minimizes any negative visual or energetic impact, aligning with both Feng Shui and good housekeeping. As a humorous touch, you could even place a small table with a coin box at the entrance and a note reading, “10 cents to enter toilet” – just for a bit of fun!

---

Summary:

In essence, many so-called “Feng Shui” concerns are actually about sensible, pleasant design and common courtesy. Maintaining a tidy entrance, keeping doors to less appealing areas closed, and arranging mirrors thoughtfully all contribute to a better living environment. If you address things from this practical angle, you’ll naturally create a space that feels good both energetically and visually.
