Main door facing neighbour's main door

Hi Cecil,
Typical situation in Singapore HDB flats:
If one's main door is facing directly the neighbour's main door(around 2m apart), any recommend cures for this situation?

Dear Anon,
1. Frankly, there is not much choice but to excercise greater tolerance.
2. You will be surprised to learn that some condominiums equally have doors that are closer or even just as close!
3. There is a condominium in Bukit Ho Swee that has two main door in very (very) close proximity. In such a situation, there is no way to leave shoes outside the door. As there is not even a small area / or the main entrance is not flushed inwards.
4. The fortunate thing in such a situation here is that there is no way, both parties can start a Ba Gua mirror war.
5. In fact, I can recall many (many) more condominiums that also have neighbour's door's that are next to, directly facing each other in very close proximity.
Another condominum in Bukit Batok - Parkview (developed by Far East Organisation), has units where:-
a. There are two units with the main door is next to each other. While the other two units on the same block face each other directly with only 3 feet space between them! Call this condo living! Here, tolerance is needed.
In fact, many public housing HDB flats have at least 5 feet distance from each other.
Try best not to start a Ba Gua war. This is a lose-lose situation.

Hi Robert,
Thanks for the information.
You mentioned that it is a lose-lose situation if both parties use Bagua.What actually does you meant?Is it hanging of Bagua may have adverse effect on the house where this Bagua is facing?

Dear Yung Kwung,
A lose-lose situation occurs when one party hangs a Ba Gua mirror above his main door (facing a neighbour's unit).
As a result, the neighbour (if he/she is a Chinese, may or most likely have no choice but to hang a reflective mirror to bounce back the Ba Gua mirror.
Therefore, it would seem that this has resulted in a lose-lose situation for both.
It would be better off, for both of them to call a `truce' and remove each of their mirrors.

Is it possible to use a more "friendly" method, such as perhaps putting a semicircular mat with a pattern of "sunrays" radiating outward?

Dear Miriam,

Indeed, one may utilize one of these options. However, in numerous situations, it could encroach upon a neighbor's frontage. Therefore, in certain cases, it is not practical.

Conversely, if it has not yet undergone renovation, one can employ a protruding floor tile. I had previously shared an image illustrating this.

Here is another image (illustration) that exemplifies the aforementioned protrusion.

In fact, this method has been implemented in several condominiums in Singapore. One such location is the Signature Park Condominium, which was developed by City Developments, a subsidiary of the Hong Leong Group.
