Dear Master Cecil Lee

We bought the statuette of kuan yin sitting with one of her leg pointing out. Was toldthat by given one luck and with one legpointing out at the same time kicking one. So as to preventkuan yinfrom kicking we have to cover herwith a robe. Is it true or is it supertitious!

Dear Sophia,

I must truly say that you do have extraordinary items in your home.

Honestly, I have yet to see a Kuan Yin figurine in the pose you had mentioned below.

Yes, symbolically, it does not feel good to see Kuan Yin sitting with her leg pointing out. From a human aspect i.e. it does not feel good to see her leg sticking out! Worst still if she "encounters" a dirty old man or lecher trying to peep into her "internal garments!".

Yeah, best to cover her legs with a robe. Looks more decent!

Dear Master Cecil Lee

We bought it from HKG. Infact we have two of it. The other one is tan in colour which was brought it back from one of the house that we had sold.So, our altar table have two kuan yin,abuddha and a ganapati (elephant dieties.) Can we remove one of the Kuan Yin or can we have twoof it! If to remove,can we place it in the temple or where....

Dear Sophia,

So far, Guan Yin does not ever has a twin. So, looks like it is not that favourable to place two on the same altar!

Equally, so far, no one has yet to place 6 Fu Lu Shou together nor place two Guan Kong etc.. together.

Prior to the purchase of Guan Yin, usually, how one buys the type of statute depends on one's ba zi.

For example, if the person is a weak water person, then, it is highly recommended that an all white Guan Yin is used at home.

Or if a person is a weak wood person or a weak fire person, Guan Yin made of wood is favourable etc...

One Guan Yin can be placed next to a Buddha but both should not be on the same height or level. Since Guan Yin sits on a lotus leaf, it is best to place her higher than the buddha figurine. If there is an ancestor altar, the altar should be at the lowest level (thus lowest ranking) and not of equal height as the Guan Yin or buddha.

The elephant deity is of Indian origin and should be placed below Guan Yin or buddha figurine.

If one of Guan Yin has not has it's eyes dotted, there is no issue in keeping it away. But if one of the Guan Yin has it's eyes dotted, then best to sent it to the temple.

Attached therewith a picture of "Kuan Yin" wearing a red robe,as my last mail, you mentioned that yet to see a kuan yin figurine in the pose. The 15thlunar month is auspicious as you mentioned. Can I send to the temple on 07thlunar month or before the 15th lunar month. Do we need to cover the kuan yin with red cloth or red paper before sending to the temple.
