Hi Shellie,
I have a sharp corner that I needed to "fix". I used a plastic vine and ran
it along the entire edge. It softened the corner, and balanced the room.
This might work for you.

Dear Monica & Anon,
I believe anon has `read' my mind as usually the advise is not to use plants. But strangely, some of us are more `tolerant' to the use of plants even in the bedroom.
For example in the case of a mirror facing the bed, I known some who do not have an `ill' effects of a mirror facing their bed while others do have some discomfort over this.
I believe, human beings are diverse and certain `concepts' cannot be universally applied to everyone.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil

Dear monica,
I think shellie should not use
plants/vines to cover the beam
since according to traditional
feng shui it is not a good
idea to use plants in the
bedroom. I think she should
use one of the cures provided
by cecil. Thanks.

Hi Folks,
Didn't realize I was starting a debate.....I always figured that plastic
plants...vines...were much different than real vines. Plastic is more for
decoration, while the real thing is a living, "breathing" entity of sorts.
A plastic vine to me is much like putting out a bedspread with vines drawn
on it. It's pleasing to the eye, and takes the "edge" off an edge. But,
it's not a plant. Never was, and never will be. It's just a pretty thing.

Hi monica,
In feng shui symbolism matters. For example
having a blue roof is considered bad because
it is considered having water on roof. Blue
color is not water but it symbolizes water.
In the same way plastic vines and flowers are
considered to be plants in feng shui.

Dear Shellie,
The metal is used to counteract a wooden beam.
Some FS practioners would also use it on `earth' element i.e. concrete beams. But it is not effective. This is because under the Five Elements Destructive relationship (Ref: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/5element.htm ) Metal destroys Wood weaking it. But if one introduces Metal, it has had no effect to weaken a beam `made of earth'. Internally, many beams are supported by metal structures.
Therefore, as you have mentioned, I stated that the above cure is meant for a wooden beam.
What you have done is `modern' and not mentioned anywhere as a tradtional `cure'. It is really no harm trying it but I cannot say that it will work thou.
The other method would be to use two wooden bamboo flutes with the profile of the "top-half" forming a Trigram placed on one side of the beam. Best to place it closer to the bed room door entrance or visible from the door entrance.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil

Dear Shellie,
As what we have discussed about i.e. placement of `cures' is based on basic Feng Shui, therefore these are piecemeal activities.
What I can help is based on available information at hand. Because there are other cross checks that can further analyse the situation as we have not gone further into applying other FS applications.
If you have not done anything other thing than to place the six coins, then you can try to take it down if it seems to be the cause of not sleeping well.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
