Dear JL, 1. The main purpose of all Feng Shui theories is to correct imbalances in the Five elements. 2. Under the Flying Star School of Feng Shui, for example if there is an imbalance e.g. a Sickness (2) star and a Misfortune (5) star. If the location happens to be the bedroom, one has thus to cure the imbalance e.g. placing 6 coins at that sector to cure it. Dear Anon, Usually, from what I have encountered, this should not pose a problem. Especially if one only rents a bedroom. There is not much choice here. The only thing to remember is to conceptally "departmentalise" the bedroom i.e. keep the scultures at a corner or if really no space on a display shelf or at a corner table or even share it with the study table. Dear Anon, 1. The reason why some FS Practitioners say to palce it in the good sector is so that when it rings, it is suppose to bring `good luck'. Unfortunately, there are others who have the view point that the `ringing' at a good sector `chase' away good luck. 2. Some on the other hand advise to place as what you had mentioned, West and NW because these are metal element sectors. To these practitioners, they `feel' that as the West and NW are metal element sectors, one should enhance the metal element with `rining' tones as to them the ringing tone is metal element. Dear Anon, 1:3 is equal to 33.33%. This is a reasonable Feng Shui figure. (please see below) The above is a good guideline. It is used widely in the forum and it should be a good guage when applied to doors and windows. Other "applications" include the advice given if the missing area is 33.3 percent or more, this is considered a missing corner. More examples can be found in messages under this forum. Dear Anon, Grateful if you can further elaborate on the extension. For example is it an `external' extension for a car park or an internal one. If internal, what is it used for. In addition, anyone who is familiar with the history of the house. This is because, beside the new extension, we could perhaps, `back-track' to see if any events match the flying star of the period. Dear Carrie, We have been looking into this issue for quite sometime. Initially, we were toying with time zones but based on the work done by Robert and myself, we prefer to take the season or time of influence from China. Let me explan why:- 1. Countries like Singapore is exactly on the same time zone as Beijing China. Hong Kong, Malaysia and Taiwan are equally within the same time zone. Even Perth Australia is exactly on the same time belt as Beijing. The rationale is because Chinese hour is two hours and not one hour. 2. Dear Elena, 1. Yes, you are quite right. Money plants comes in small, medium or large plants. Small plants merely have roots and can grow in a small bowl filled with water. Smooth rocks are placed to hold the plants. Here, the money plant does not look like it has vines. 2. It is more a western concern, I believe that plants do not have vines rather than Chinese belief. Dear Karen, I believe that water leaks should be the pumbing of the house and not related to `omens'. Frankly, for now it is difficult to associate leaks with `Feng Shui.' It is best to have the pumbing fixed as soon as possible. For accessing the home, it is preferred that one uses the Flying Star theory to check for imbalances. Warmest Regards, Cecil

If one considers determining the colour under Feng Shui, it would involve finding out the person's element and it's strength. For example, if your element is a weak water person. The water stars to currently activate are #7- current prosperity, #8 future prosperity and #9 - prosperity yet to come. Before you activate the water stars they must be in an open space - like main entrance, not locked away in a bedroom or such other room. Water stars need activity. Mountain stars need no movement. Water in the west is bad because: 1. The west is a yin location 2. Water will make west even more yin, thus creating an imbalance. 3. During period 7, even if you have #7 water star, water is bad as it can cause loss of wealth. So, during period 7, no water in the west, unless you want to experience financial problems. Glyn

Dear Daniel, In open living, ideally, (under Feng Shui conditions) there is still some `partitioning'. It may not be a full wall. It can be something like an eating or storage counter separating the cooking area from the living room. In the living room, the act of placing furniture to segregate the living room from other locations is as effective as using walls. Therefore, there is really no issue here. For an `L' shaped room even if it is an open space can effectively be segregated into two whole rectangles. This is a better FS configuration that leaving the house as an `L' shaped. Dear Anon, Ideally, it should be a painting e.g. of a mountain scenery or an object with immovable mass. For the bamboo style plate, in general, it is in my opinion too `weak' to be classified to activate the mountain star. Dear Cloud, Although, I have some idea of what the `tray' ceiling looks like but have not seen one closely so cannot (fully) comment on how `bad' it is. Overall, two Feng Shui `tools' are available: 1. A pair of flutes in a `Ba Gua formation' ----- / \ 2. Dear Emma, 1. An alternative to using a screen in the room between the bed and the bathroom door is to place a side table. On the side table, place a side table lamp. Those with one bulb and with a lamp shade. This is symbolic of having a screen between the bed and the bathroom door. 2. Dear Elena, 1. It is not necessary to turn on the lamp 24 hours a day. This is most uneconomical. 2. The best alternative is to use red or purple to represent the fire element. 3. I do not recall, using the red thread on its own. A red thread is used to control the cure of using 6 coins. Where the red thread is used to control the big metal. (Not let it out of control). 4.
