Dear Linda, At locations like the NE (Devil's gate) and SW (Devil's backdoor), it should not be a concern unless: 1. The location becomes too YIN. For example, one grows a large tree. A large tree creates shade and makes that area too Yin. 2. In such a situation, it increases the YIN and more likely, prone to effects of `evil influences'. 3. One can also use the Flying Star chart to check on how much Yin influence is in a particular room such as the North East. If there is too much yin elements plus it is contributed by Para 1, then more cause for concern. 4. I believe, by asking some of these questions, you are `new' to Feng Shui and Chinese Divinity methods. My advise…

Dear Heather, 1. First priority is to try to place the bed in a good position based on Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui. 2. Here, where possible, the bedrest should have a good support and other considerations based on the above. I believe, there are already quite alot of resources on the proper placement of beds under Shapes and Form School. 3. Thus, one must remember that it is certainly `nice' to be able to place the bed in one of our good sectors but this may not be possible either due to the layout of the bedroom or even if we do so, all areas (sectors) of the bedroom may be in one of our bad sectors under the Eight House Theory. 4. My advise is to ensure that you…

Dear Wong Jin, Wong Jin wrote: The door of two bedrooms are facing each other. Wong Jin wrote: What is the pro and cons? In feng shui, if you have such a situation, it is often considered that the people staying in the room may have quarrel more as they may not be able to see eye to eye. Usually, one solution would be to either put a red dot on the doorhandle. So that it is like creating an eye to let the door see eye to eye with each other. Hope that helps. Dear GoldenDragon, 1. Under the Shapes and Form School 1.1 Do not place the table on an `island'. Where best, it should have the support of a wall. 1.2 For the office, it is best to be located in a room in the house (with sufficient natural lighting where possible). Avoid a `dark room'. 2. Under the Eight House Theory 2.1 It should be a location with good intangible force for yourself. Avoid having it at an inauspicious sector. 2.2 Of secondary importance: see if you can sit facing a good direction. The above are general guidelines without taking into consideration the Flying Star theory. If the Flying Star theory is considered, one can try to locate it at one's good Ei…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I am currently working on the plans for a new 2-storied house to be built this year. Thank you for advising me as to whether I should consider each story separately for feng-shui orientations. Or do I consider the centre of the house regardless of the stories? 1) If the 2 story house belongs entirely to 1 owner, then you should take the facing of the house from the frontage of the entire house, and the center point will remain the same for both levels. 2) If the house is divided into two separate owners, then you each will have their main door entrance just like an apartment. Therefore, the center point and facing will be based on the individ…

In my opinion, there is no "magic" attached to dzi beads. Thus it is not something magical or suppose to be health giving etc... Buying it is like buying any other decorative pieces - but never in the name sake of Feng Shui or cures. Some like it, buy it and are happy over it, that's fine. Australians have their opal mines .. opals... the Chinese (and Mynmar formerly Burma) have their jade. These are more "valuable" assets.. Dear Ken, Anonymous wrote: As I'm very new to Bazi, could I trouble you to enlighten me with an idea as to how your online report has ascertained I'm a Strong Yang Fire? Dear Anon, Some information on wind chime(s):- 1. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, six represents "big metal". 2. Thus we often hear advice such as: - hang a set of six coins tied with red string or - hang a six hollow rod wind chime 2. As six represents "big metal", this big metal is particularly used to neutralise #2 sickness #5 misfortune /sickness and #3 quarrels/conflicts/lawsuits etc.. 3. A proper wind chime must not be colourful i.e. especially rainbow colours. 4. A wind chime should usually be made of: a. entirely copper plated (metallic) : traditional looking ones have a pagoda (trigram or 8 sided roof) with a ancient coin hung as the clinger. Some of these …

Dear Anon, Please see below:- I believe the picture is the artistist impression of what the site looks like. It is always good to have trees as it will encourage birds also. I believe so. 1. Here, the overriding factor is the frontage of the unit circled under Picture 1. If one notices carefully, the top two units are in the shape of two hands in a `receiving' position. (Try to look closely and one can see that there is a `U' shape. In fact both units have Double 7. 2. Next, the main door is facing the water position for the circled unit. 3. It is on a gradient hill. The bedroom of the circled unit is sitting on tip of the entire house. This is symbolic of t…

Dear Anon, 1. It would be better if I could see a scanned image. 2. As you have described, it does not look `ideal' especially if there is a tilt. Frankly, I still not sure how much is the tilt or curve etc... Therefore, unable to give you a fuller analysis. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Siew Foong, The following need to be considered:- 1. Does the Qi flow from the front e.g. window or main door and exits directly at the back? If so, it would be good to place a partition or screen to manipulate the Qi flow to allow it to meander slowly in the house. The above is one of the considerations for doing `interior' decoration in the home. 2. Under Flying Star Feng Shui The following items are looked at:- 2.1 What type of material is one using for the bar counter? Or materials e.g. glass/wine etc... Here, Flyings Star analysis is usually done to check on any imbalances at a sector. For example, if the sector in question is one where we should avoid adding `w…

Dear Doris, Yes, one consideration is SW sector. Another two sectors to consider are: 1. South-East (Eldest daughter) 2. South (Middle daughter) 3. West (Youngest daughter) If one only has two daughters than do check out Para 1. SE (eldest)and 3. West (youngest) For landed property, make sure that at the frontage; avoid having too many openings OPENED e.g. some landed properties have both main door e.g. wooden door and directly next to this a row of sliding glass. If often both this sliding glass are always opened together with the wooden door. Quote: Doris W. wrote: Hello! I am aware that the SW sector of the house is the romance sector. Dear Carina, 1. This is only based on the `interpretation' of the Eight House and this is only one of the theories. It would be best also to look at other locations e.g. the bedroom (with this theory). The only `cure' in the Eight House is to avoid spending time at a specific unfavourable sector. For the main door, some resort to `tilting' it. But this has to relate to the findings done under the Flying star. As `tilting' the door, would mean changing the door direction. For changing the direction of the door, it is always best not to D.I.Y. (do it yourself). Usually, this is done in consultation with an FS consultant. 2. Usually the effects are "lessened", if the main …

Dear Spring, In general, Good Luck symbols can be hung almost anywhere. For the bedroom especially for a newly married couples, the Chinese character of the double happiness symbol is hung in the room. Otherwise, if the symbol is `Fu' or Luck, some Chinese hang the word upside down e.g. on their main door (internal side). It can also be hung in the study room i.e. one can safely hang it just anywhere other than the toilet. As for broken foot of the statute, in my opinion, you can keep it e.g. in the closet especially if there is some sentimental value or quite costly (when purchased). Warmest Regards Cecil

Straits Settlements, 1900. a rickshaw. A distance away was the Chinese Theatre Hall for performance arts. Singapore, then was not a slump as some leaders claimed; it was. Am I right to think this would be the case? Can you spare me some professional advice on what I should do? Yours, Jin

Dear Karen, I believe that water leaks should be the pumbing of the house and not related to `omens'. Frankly, for now it is difficult to associate leaks with `Feng Shui.' It is best to have the pumbing fixed as soon as possible. For accessing the home, it is preferred that one uses the Flying Star theory to check for imbalances. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Momo, Thanks for your kind words of encouragement. Wishing you, and everyone here a Happy New Year! Please see below:- Nowadays, it is much harder to `discern' the type of element related to a career. This is because of the element of `multi-skilling'. It it common nowadays; for one to be `multi-skilled' not only in our job but in a wide spectrum of a job. For example, some of us may be an accountant, while others may be in PR, Marketing or Administration. Common usage of computers and other related equipment is very common. Thus, we are today - more `multi-skilled' than ever. And it thus much harder to define a job or relate it (totally) to one specific element …

Dear Anon, Quote: Some so called "wise" people remarked on house that if main door is located at bad sector, it should be relocated to a good sector. Then my bathroom/toilet which is in the good sector must be relocated to bad sector in order to suppress the bad "qi". Also my kitchen which is in the rear of my house (good sector) should be moved to inner aprt of my house (bad sector). All these of course will mean huge cost to rennovate. Any one has any comment? Xie-Xie.(thanks) In terms of suitability to sector and house etc. Of course it is ideal to be able to have the luxuary to be able to relocate the various rooms so that it will be favourable for you. It sounds to …

Dear David, Teo David wrote: I have recently spotted this structure which is in front of a HDB flat. I understand from your valuable website that based on the left green dragon, right white tiger, front phoenix, and back turtle theory, will this structure posed any negative effect which the flat is facing it? Appreciate if you can fork out some of your valuable time to clear my doubt? Thank you very much. Generally, this structure looks like a typical tomb layout. So if it does faces your home directly, then it will impact your house feng shui somewhat. As it resembles a tomb. So will not be that auspicious if any. The lower floor unitfacing this structure will have the…

1. Based on the Situational Approach to Feng Shui, which states that no two situations (or homes) are exactly equal or the same. Thus, it depends! 2. Critically, all homes are also faced with the "time dimension" and "time dimension" is one consideration when we consider concerns like "financial distress" and "relationship issues". 3. For example, between 2002 to 2003, I had my fair share of review of homes with problems. Coincidentally, many of these homes have facing directions "North 1 to3" and NW homes also had many of such issues. Coincidentally, again, many who had been doing business were staying in Flying Star N1/2 and N3 homes etc.. 4. In Singapore, nearly eve…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Can you tell us how to neutralize the Robbery and Misfortune stars in a bedroom? And how can we prevent activating the Double Robbery stars in a master bedroom? Robbery Star is usually Star 7 (weak Metal). To weaken, it normally you use either water to exhaust the metal, or Fire to destory the metal. Fire may activate the Misfortune Star which is usually Star 4 (strong earth). So usually, water element might be the better solution such as yin water. Colours for water are like light blue/light gray etc. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research.
