Dear Anon, Based on Flying Star Feng Shui, currently many homes that usually have NE or SW facing and that are Period 8 homes should enjoy better Feng Shui or earth luck. As to the perfect home, one chief concern is the external shapes and forms. As this has a great influence on the home. In addition, it is good that the home or apartment should if possible not be affected too much by direct sunlight. For example, we should avoid homes with critical areas "bathed" by the afternoon sun - especially if it is a wall "soaking in the" afternoon sun e.g. master bedroom wall or children's bedroom; living room etc... Such h…

So not the most favourable element. Secretarial work is more Earth as it deals with listening to your boss. As a weak Wood, earth is your wealth. There are many concerns in the kitchen. However, as your question is specific to a stove sharing the same wall as the kitchen door; this area has much to do with two senarios:- 1. Often it is not good to have the stove face an "opening" (or entrance). This should not be the case here. 2. The other situation is related to commonsense. Here, should a fire envelop; it may burn the nearby cabinet and block "escape" out of the kitchen for anyone trapped in it. Or in an intense fire, smoke or flash fire can quickly engulf the home.

Dear Fred, Do you maybe have a sketch of the office/room which you work. 1. Ideally the shapes and form is most importantly for office to face the entrance of the room where people enter into the office. 2. The desk has to be anchored to a wall and not just floating in the center of the room. 3. The room should be your favourable at least even if you face the spook. 4. The window behind may not necessarily be bad depending on the layout of the room. So long as like the desk is anchored. Without a sketch it would be difficult to tell for sure which is better alternative. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Dear Anon, Please see below:- Nothing much one can do unless one moves the toilet away from this sector. However, it is best to look at the overall house instead of just that particular sector by itself using the major FS theories such as Shapes and Form and Flying Star. For the definition of a missing corner in a house, it should be more than 33.3 percent of that sector's area. Use the url: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/building.htm to check the signifiance of the `missing corner'. For example, if the missing corner is at NE, here, in FS, it implies one may have poor planning. This is in contrast better than a missing corner at the North which may signify meeting …

Dear Kelly, Yes, so long as: 1. If the sharp corner(s) cannot be seen, it no longer becomes a threat. 2. Breaking the profile of the sharp corner would allevite the poison arrow(s). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. With so much information on Feng Shui, it’s understandable that it can be overwhelming—not just because of the amount, but also due to how all the pieces fit together. 2. When applying Feng Shui, it’s best to take a holistic approach by combining effective techniques from the various schools. 3. You mentioned the Eight House and Flying Star theories. Another important consideration is the Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui. 4. Most of us don’t have major problems at home or in the office. But when problems do arise, it’s important to identify and address them. For some, the goal is to enhance the space and improve health, happiness, and …

Dear Molly, 1. Under the Feng Shui concept `if it no longer can be seen, it no longer becomes a " threat ". This principle can also be applied to the gas cylinder. 2. Usually, it is kept away from the bedrooms either next to it or directly below a bedroom. 3. Generally, it is advised that the cable is not too long or placed too far from the source (if possible). 4. If the tank is `concealed' or placed in a cabinet, then, place it like any other liquid e.g. a water heater in such a location. Thus safety would be a primary concerned when compared to `Feng Shui'. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Small plants should generally be treated as part of the interior decor. For larger plants etc... it is good to look at each sector under the Flying star Feng Shui. For example, if the location has say an auspicious #8 either mountain star or water star or both; it is not favourable to place large plants at these sectors. Since wood (imagine it's roots crushing into the earth) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Baerbel, You mentioned that "that long road seems to directly run into the house". Generally, do check especially if the main entrance is vulnerable or any windows that is facing the long road. As most of the time, these two areas need the most protection from "sha qi" coming from the road. In many instances, (subject to a site review) many Chinese homes do try to place a "high" wall along the outline of the perimeter of the home. Often, this is the best option. If a window or main entrance is directly facing the long road, then; you may have to consider a convex ba gua mirror placed above the window or main entrance. This is the most common approach. While foo …

Dear Linda, 1. Firstly, Congratulations! 2. If you are in Singapore, or any in the region, it is common to go to any of the temples to get `blessed'. If you are not sure which temple, you can visit more `netural' temples such as the Goddess of Mercy Temple (Quan Yin) at Waterloo street. 3. Items like Buddhas and other religious objects are not Feng Shui so, I do not subscribe to users buying them for such purposes. As it has more to do with religion. And inviting idols etc.. would imply that one may have to pray to these. So this is up to the individual and their faith. 4. More importantly the main considerations are: (In most traditional practises) a. Choosing an auspic…

Dear Anon, 1. Fish Tank is more of a `modern' "invention". More commonly in the past, we talk more of a pond. 2. Yes, if you have a water position, the advise is not to cover the top of the tank. As a fish tank lacks the `power' to generate a more `vibrant' Qi than say a fountain or waterfall, in my opinion, it does not matter anyway. 3. If one own a `landscaped' pond inside your house, you will notice that it is not only open, but even if you are as far away, locking the bedroom door, you may still hear the sound of water from the `artificial' waterfall. It is the sound and the open concept that is considered generating `vibrant' Qi as compared to a fish tank where the f…

It should be based on the real direction one is facing. Please see attached illustration. Did you notice the work table? This person's best work directions are: South and East. (SE and North) are acceptable directions. Thususe a compass and check where is the north compass point. And then best to sit facing the good direction as shown in the example for an East group person. Anonymous wrote: I am bit confused on deciding on the best work position. Should I take my office as the entrance per Bagua or it has to be based on the real direction it is being faced?

Dear Anon, If one is not sure, please use the Pie chart method. It is similar to the Eight House `angle' of influence concept: If you can draw a simple diagram to illustrate what you mean, as I am not too clear what u actually mean:) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi Diana, For choice of tomb, you will have to use shapes and forms concept to determine which part of the land would be better. Probably, look out for like the Four Symbolic animals, where is the tortise protection, where is the open area, and many other shapes and form concept like water position, mountain position etc. Those are more important in the choice of a tomb location. The Eight House suitability isn't used for the dead, it is a concept for the living. Probably best, here to get someone who does tomb location geomancer as they can better advise you which is better position. Hope that helps. Dear Elena, Oops! I am sleeping on one myself! Yes, this is a very common type of design! Many of us (or the likes of us) have slept on such a bed / bed-head frame... for many years! Why not... let's start burning all those books that says that it's bad! Cheers! Cecil Elena Oldham wrote: It is a very popular style for the bed head board to be in the form of a half circle or "hill" I call it. It is low on the sides and rises up in the middle. After the fact, I read in one of the books that it is bad to have a head board in the shape that resembles the chinese coffin. Is this true and can any remedy be applied?

Dear Anon, Please see below:- It is still acceptable to have water at the East in a very general sense. A more professional approach is to extend the Flying Star of the house, and map it over this area. More importantly check that there are no imbalances with water at the east. For example, if the sector is already `full' of water element, this is no good. Alternatively if that sector needs more water element, then water outside this area is good. But if the sector needs Fire element to cure an imbalance and you have water, as Water diminises fire, or drown it, this would not be ideal. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Seema, In my opinion, this area has to do with `beliefs' than Feng Shui. It is said that Feng Shui has an influence on a specific area of our `luck'. There is more towards, Earth Luck. `Luck' is diverse and it is said that there are many types of luck. A `genuine' gift can be considered a positive statement and whatever we do or feel, should be positive. Feeling `positive' e.g. about our environment such as reminisent of a gift i.e. such as lauging buddha in your culture, could perhaps give a good feeling. Being positive is good even if it does not have a direct relationship with Feng Shui. Contrary to the belief that we should place our eggs into one basket i.e. Ho…

Dear Max, 1. For a new home, one do not need to strictly adhere to the Grand Duke or Tai Sui theory. Especially if it has not even been stayed in yet. 2. It is always good to choose auspicious dates for: 2.1 Start of renovations. 2.2 Choose a good date for symbolic "move-in". 2.3 Choose a good date for actual move-in. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Sitting facing one's good direction is considered as "Nice-to-have" and not a "must-have". Thus, as much as we have read that we should sit facing our good direction, but many of us do not have this opportunity to do so. One way is to see if possible all four of you can or some of you can sit to beneifit your good directions. It is good to just convey this to your three other team mates whether, they want to consider this option. (It may or may not necessarily work out for all). 2. From what you had mentioned, you have limited space to work on. Given that there is no option to change; frankly, there is no miracle cure in Feng Shui for this. Especially mos…

Dear Vikki Dufall, Vikki Dufall wrote: Is there anyway that we could counteract this so that someone will finally buy our house? I am sorry, but Feng Shui is not a miracle cure all for every problem. In this case, there isn't anything you can do that will make a house sell. Whether people buy a place all depends on the location of the home. So there is nothing you can do to just make it sell overnight. You should depend on your real estate agent to help you sell it, pricing it right, list out the benefits of the homeetc. In terms of what you can do to boost up the luck for a potential sell are:- 1. Dear Max, There are many theories involved with regards to the kitchen: 1. Some FS practitioner feels that kitchen should be in harmony with either spouse. Either/or should be auspicious sector for either say the husband or wife. Please see below:- The main `argument' here is that it has to do with the fire element. Some FS practitioners feel that fire may be harmful as it can result in frequent quarrels. However, this is less of importance and we should be focusing more on:- 1. The kitchen has both the fire and water element i.e fire (stove) and water (the basin/refrigerator). 2. Priority is that the stove should try to face inwards in the kitchen as it helps to keep…
