Dear Foo Leong, Often, if we are applying the Eight House (4 good/bad), we could use the other partner as a "shield". For example, if this room is very suitable to you i.e. Excellent and for your wife; her irritation sector. You should sleep closer to the sector of influence and your wife sleeps further away -- using you as a shield. This is only the best that can be done, here. Of-course, sometimes, it may not be possible at all. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Oliv, Actually quite alot of concepts on the stove position comes from the interpretation of the 8 tigrams. For example, the two major concerns of many Traditional Feng Shui practitioners are:- 1. The North-West. The North-West is suppose to be the represented by THE FATHER or HEAVEN. Thus one may come across this often used term " Fire at Heaven's gate". Although you selected NW = H1, many FS practitioners consider it inauspicious to have a stove at NW. Since this is like having a fire at the Heaven's gate. Or letting the father or this is suppose to be the head of the house under fire! Hello. I've read that the front of a stove where the oven door is …

Hi, I need some help from you. I had just got married last year 15 Mar 2003. Since then, I bought my new house last year Nov. Even since then, everything is not turning fine for me. My wife does not want to get intimate with me and keep quarrelling with me. My work life is not smooth either and I have quite a bit of financial problem. Thus can I ask what should I look for in my new house or take note in my normal routine so that I can improve my current situation?

Dear Anon, 1. Number of pieces of mirror Ideally, it is best to have one single piece of mirror. One piece mirror However, in Singapore, for those who live in a high rise, and often at high floors, the contractor, for convenience would simply provide e.g. two pieces of mirrors. The rationale is because, usually the wall is wide, but because of the lift (escalator) can only accomodate smaller piece of mirrors. Two piece mirrors Usually because of the above i.e. for convenience, the contractor would want to "push" for two pieces mirror. In fact, unless one insists, no one wants to cart or bring up pieces of mirror from the stairs. However, two piece mirrors are consid…

Dear Crisa, In very general terms, often, some Feng Shui practitioner will look at the direction or location the home is. But this is very general. For example, some FS practitioners could suggest that e.g. since Singapore is in the Southern part of earth, a main door that is white is ok. Since, metal controls fire element. Generally, it is quite common to find doors that are real wood (varnished in different types of wood tone colors) or simply light pastel shades of e.g. neutral colors like white or cream. For the proposed red colored main door, in general, it is best not to be painted if the door is located at the north (water) direction. If possible, it is not fav…

Dear Joan, In my opinion, this is although not the best position, but it is (based on your earlier description) may seem to be a better position. The only thing is that one may perhaps have to get used to it. However, some of us get used to it, but should you feel uncomfortable, then, may have to revert back to the old. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Holly, Welcome to the forum! In the last message, posted, I have mentioned that it is good to have a good grasp of all under-ling Feng Shui concepts by using a three-step approach: 1. What is the purpose of the concept 2. What are it's strengths 3. What are it's weakness. The idea of using Geomancy or meta-physics is based on a Holistic approach involving: Heaven luck, earth luck (Feng Shui) and human luck. In addition, Shapes and Forms as well as Flying Star Feng Shui is equally important. Thus, if the both of you are opposites and given that you are now at a disadvantage, you could explore the application of Shapes and Forms and Flying Star Feng Shui. For ba…

Dear Remy, In fact, this is a very common situation. Since each of us belong to either the East or West group. Thus 50-50 percent. Frankly, there are so many messages posted on this subject alone in the forum -- in the past. The key to understanding this concept and other concepts is to use the three-step-approach:- 1. What is the PURPOSE of the concept? 2. What are it's strengths? 3. What are it's weakness? If one is able to understand this concept based on the above three-steps, then, one can fully grasp how to apply it. And when not to apply it. Perhaps, one can use the SEARCH feature in this forum -- and let the fingers do the walking..... Warmest Regards, C…

Dear David, I believe, in Singapore and everywhere else, needless to say, usually "better" Feng Shui homes or apartments (especially in choice) locations often common a higher premium than others. Thus, this is why for most condos, units facing "good views" such as the water feature (pool) etc often can command a higher price than say a unit next to, facing the dustbin area etc... Although Feng Shui is a major consideration, often when it comes to resale apartments, the usual "bad comments" are: 1. This is a "west" facing home or apartment - - quite hot 2. Fire station Yes, not so much of Feng Shui, but imagine the "noise" of the sirens ringing or the station activa…

Dear Edmund, To bring "sanity" out of house hunting, it is best under such circumstances to: 1. First, try to find an apartment that has relatively good shapes and forms. Simple Shape and Forms clues include: 1.1 If possible, the view from the balcony is "unobstructed". 1.2 Where are the roads? If possible, the flat should not face the road (noisy) 1.3 Afternoon sun? (West) Are any of the bedrooms directly or partially facing into the West (afternoon sun)? Living room also? 2. Under the Flying Star Theory If one knows how to apply it, especially for a new apartment or one that will have an extensive renovation done; there are some homes that have better Flying S…

Further to what I had mentioned earlier, to-date, I personally feel therefore that the color of a main door is not going to make any major difference. This is why, majority of doors are in wood tones or wood tone colors. What is more important is the external shapes and forms as well as Shapes and forms plus other factors other than simply the door color. This includes the number of steps etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Joan, Frankly, if this is your home (not shared or rental), it is best to have clear space e.g. air-circulate around the room rather than have a portable screen (since this is the side of bed facing the door) and not one's leg facing the door. If you do feel uncomfortable, then in the evening, simply close the bedroom door. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, A horse-shore has more to do with western beliefs e.g. much like the rabbit foot than Feng Shui. Frankly, I have seen some persons hang it in an upside down U shape. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Cecil, The windows are half-windows, meaning they start from waist level all the way to the ceiling. If this is the case, is there still a need for a low cabinet? Thanks!

Dear MK, In my opinion, the balcony is not the best place to place an altar - especially if it is subject to the elements (e.g. rain or direct sunlight). For plants, there is often no specific plant but rather, for indoor plants often, they should have "waxy" leaves and darker green colour. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Master Based on my date of birth, the 'West' sector favors me, i.e., West (prosperity), SW (longevity), NW (excellent), and NE (Health).

So when would be the best date to move-in. What ritual should we follow. His Her kua # 9 kua # 7 best direction is east best direction is west address is 17918 same dob: 12-18-64 in the am dob: 09-15-65 -- GLENETTA SOLOMON Sign it at your convenience. More importantly, for the Chinese, it is more important to be considered about: 1. Ground-breaking date or initial things to do when first opening the door 2. Start of renovations 3. move-in These are considered more important than say the date and time to sign the agreement as these are merely paper transactions. Warmest Regards, Cecil Copyright 19…

Please advice which Life Aspiration, or Bagua direction I need to change/improve to help my family move to another state. What would you recommend? Do I need to balance my career sector, family, or mentors? I am stuck. I want my family to move to Florida - it is good for health, for relationship, for future, but probably not as good job wise, but still I need a good job there - so which part do I increase or balance? I am afraid that if I will improve career too much, I will get a better job offer here and we will stay in Illinois. Also, when I accent one area, let us say wealth, do I have to improve relationship area as well, or could it happen that it will be all work a…
