Dear Amelia, 1. Yes, I personally feel that the arrangement is OK. 2. This is because, of many us who have children would be aware that when they sleep, they practically roll all over the bed in all directions. So let them be. 3. Don't rob them of their youth:) 4. On the issue of a double-decker bed. In the past, I had posted a message that in my opinion, there is no issue with a double-decker bed. The "misunderstand" arose because some FS practitioners claim that sleeping under a double-decker bed is no good. As it acts like a beam. But, let us look at it logically: 1. double-decker beds was not just invented this year or the last. It has been around for many, many yea…

Dear Alice, In my Applied Feng Shui book, I had listed 3 methods of manually calculating the Gua (Kua) numbers. The reason why 5 is treated as 8 and 2 has to do with the rationale that it occupies the centre position which is the earth element. Thus under the Flying Star Feng Shui, this is why we have what is known as the #5 or Yellow earth (centre quadrant). Under the symbolic animal concept this yellow is represented by a Yellow snake. Under the Pa Che Compass School or Eight House or Flying Star Feng Shui:- 1 = Gua 1 (North) 2 = Gua 2 (South-West) 3 = Gua 3 (East) 4 = Gua 4 (South-East) 5 = Center Square (If male then the number = 2) (If female then the number = 8) 5 i…

Hi Mary, Finding work is probably work itself. I know many many people who do not practice Feng Shui and still are able to find good jobs. Here are some of my suggestions to enhance your luck with work. 1. Get educated. Beats working for McDonalds and settling into a career that you enjoy doing will take you to success. 2. Go for a make over. Change bad habits, create a positive attitiude. Be confident in yourself and if needs be, get a nice hair cut and upgrade your clothes. 3. Aim for the top. Companiesneed tolook at you as a valued worker rather than a burden to the company. 4. Excercise. Keeping yourself in good shape and good health will improve the soul. 5. S…

Dear Mei Lee, Generally, it has more to do with "commonsense approach" to Feng Shui. This is because, if the site / slope is "well maintained" it is fine. But in some cases, such as poor piling done and due to heavy (or very heavy rainfall), and if the slope is not protected, we often see pictures on houses on the "hill" breaking up or the slope causing a landslide - coming down to the lower home. Frankly, this is quite rare. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Master Cecil: I thank you a lot for your answer.Last year I placed a six hollow rod windchime hanging outside my bedroom.I also have a metallic clock in my bedroom as you suggested in a previous post, I also have six chinese coins attached to a red paper as a photo shows in the resource area and two chinese flutes on the wall with red cord( "to lift up" a slanting ceiling).Could this be inconvinient?.The bedroom is painted in a greenish tone.Shall I replace the wind chimes or shall I clean them with salt? Thanks a lot for your kind answer Carlos Miranda H. Santiago de Chile, Chile

Dear Regina, To side-track a little:- 1. The annual Five The annual #5 falls at the centrepoint of a home. If so, often, leaving it as a "clear space" or walkway is good enough. For those who are duly concerned with it. The rationale is that it would be quite silly to place e.g. a wind chime at this centrepoint. Since, either, most of the time - a regular wind chime, would not chime as much. Even if it does chime, in a home environment, it can get pretty uncomfortable - since - it can affect the welfare of family members e.g. those who need to study or pay attention to work or for sleep. 2. These three variable numbers are not favourable: since #3 affects work or work i…

Dear Master Cecil, I live in a 2 storey terrace link house. My house is facing southeast 2 (main road) but my main door at the side which is facing northeast 2, I have the following doubts:- a. My main door is facing a wall sharing with my neighbour which is 7" apart, will this obstruct the chi coming in? By doing this, I can avoid our car to be drived towards our main door. b. My main door is still located in southeast sector even though it faces northeast. May I place a water features directly in front of the door (7" apart) to indirectly activate the water star #8 (resides in southeast sector in period 8) c. I was told that in order to change my house from period 7 to …

Dear Anon, It depends: 1. Where possible, there should be ONLY 1 water position. And this water position (real water) should only be activated according to the Flying Star Feng Shui. For example, a period 7 house has a double #7. And water is used here to activate it for `wealth' under Period 7 etc... 2. Often if there are more than 2 water positions e.g. fish tank measuring 4 ft by 2 ft, is pretty significant and thus not ideal to have more of it.... 3. For a Strong water person, in some instances, it is preferred if the water position is at the balcony area (outside the living area of the home). 4. It also depends on the decor of the home. For example, for a strong wat…

Dear Carlos, Wow! Double #5's are bad enough (Misfortune/sickness x 2). But with the addition of #9 (strong fire), this is a "potent" inauspicious combination. Since strong fire further fuels strong earth #5 x2. If you can, usually, a set of wind chime could be used outside the bedroom e.g. window area to dissipate this three combined inauspicious combination. In addition, it is best to use metal cure inside this room to further negate the bad sector. Try to avoid: Check the room for presence of Earth element i.e. earth tones e.g. cream, beige or yellow. And further avoid any Fire (red, pink or purple) colour in the room. The most common is to check that the walls are not…

How exciting to find my house has improved under Period 8! Unfortunately, however, W is the sector to activate a Mountain Star. West is in a bedroom, but our house is set on a NE/SW axis, so actual West is in the corner. Is it possible in any way to activate the Mountain Star if I can't hang a picture in the corner, or place an object of mass there? See attached photo - a closet takes up most of the SW wall. Thanks. Regina Cohn

Dear Regina, With the star numbers mentioned, it is OK to place a plant to mask the poison arrow. Honestly, from your picture, and given that your sofa is a distance away, I personally think that there is no threat from the fire-place. It is not like one is sitting next to it. From the picture, the distance is somewhat like 1 metre away (the sofa). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Respected Sir, Thank you for your reply.I apologise for not being clear in my query. My question is that is there any significance of same level of flooring in all the sectors i.e it is harmful to have any sector higher floor level than other sectors &if this is the case at the back of the house where the main door is also located what are the remedies.Further if correcting beams in particular sectors with false ceiling has left these sectors with lower ceiling height as compared with areas without beams,it it harmful & what are the solution for this.

thank you very much for your prompt reply. I feel more confident now to use the balcony as my direction. If I can further intrude on you, if I were to change from period 7 to period 8, some sources mentioned to change a new door, roof/ceiling and floor/carpet. As such, do I change my entrance door to a brand new door or do I change the balcony sliding doors since my direction is based on the balcony's direction? Thanks in advance. brgds, Vincent

Dear Anon, Note: this domain or message, is not Feng Shui but rather Chinese Horoscope based on the Year of birth:- 1. Based on Chinese astrology, the worst "hit" Tiger is the Water-Tiger born under 5 Feb 1962 to 24 Jan 1963 2. While the worst two Monkeys are those born in the year of the Metal-Monkey: 2.1 Metal-Monkey born between 20 Feb 1920 to 7 Feb 1921 2.2 Metal-Monkey born between 16 Feb 1980 to 4 Feb 1981 3. Where possible, these three groups should avoid attending a funeral or if (as a last resort) should not be there to view the closing of the coffin. 4. For buddhists or toaists, under Chinese beliefs, it is good to make an offering at a temple - to receive ble…

Dear Lee Seng, Frankly, it is better if you have simple sketch rather than all descriptive words to eliminate mis-interpretation and the need to aborb too many lines. Futhermore, a picture, tells a thousand words. Generally, for a kitchen located at the South compass direction of a home, here, the stove can face the fridge. Since south has the element of fire. But if the kitchen is at the North compass direction, or NE direction, than preferably, the stove should not "see" the fridge. Please see below:- This is OK. For family's health, it is often arranged to suit the ba zi of the wife. This two can share the same wall but avoid having the fridge right in th…

Dear Simon, Further to what I had mentioned, in-fact everyday while reading new messages posted to this forum is indeed a new learning experience. Given that no two situation are often alike, it is always foolhardy to use only YES or NO? (Is it true? type of question). In fact, there are many well documented cases of great lawyers who, can argue or fight cases, some of them, which may seem hopeless (to defend). Yet, these people can turn around "the jury". Thus, I can only say "It depends". Often, there is no right or wrong answers. It depends on how, one puts up his or her argument or logic to support their case. In Singapore, not all buildings have equal heights. Thus, …

Dear Sylvia, Please see below:- Frankly, since your home is a NW3 home, it is better to remain as a NW3 Period 7 home. As it is still able to tap on the auspicious Pearl String effect of such a period 7 home. Although, this is not the best or ideal situation, it is better to face the "devil's advocate" if your home were to "fly" into Period 8. Given that, there will be more problems or less than ideal condition for your home to be under Period 8. The most yang part of a home need not necessarily mean that one must have a main entrance, here. Given, this senario, usually, the location where there are most windows. For trees everywhere, this is not a major issue, …
