Dear Master Cecil: I have been having similar concerns. Depending on the center point of the house, the reading of the house direction can be different. In accordance with what I have read so far, the center of the house can be: 1. The point at which the weight of the whole house balances. This method usually applies to houses with irregular shape. 2. The crossing point of the two diagonal lines. This method usually applies to houses with square or rectangular shapes. 3. The central passage way through which the residents of the house walk to all the rooms of the house. This passage way is where Qi congregates and demanders. I have a house with rectangular shape. Because …

Dear Master Cecil, I started reading about Feng Shui after I bought my flat. Since it is a done deal, I'll like to present my layout as a case study for learning. I have attached a picture of the layout and some placement of screens and furniture. I was borned in 1975 and my kua number is 7. My wife is borned in 1977 and kua number is 9. Will appreciate your advise on the following. 1. Is my way of locating the centre of the house correct correct? 2. There is a major missing corner as indicated by the RED circle. Is this a major poison arrow? How can I remedy this? 3. The bathroom is very near the centre of the house and the main entrance. Is my interpretation correct? Is…

Dear Cecil Thankyou for your time.. I desperately seek your help on behalf of myself, my family and my business. I live in Australia with my wife and 2 daughters (aged 6 & 9). I was born on 17th May, 1959 and am a self-employed 'Internet Business' owner.. A) Last year (Feb-June 2002), we renovated our home to build a 70 square metre 'Home Office' to enable a hopeful expansion of our business and income, which had been suffering for some 2 years whilst building our business. Only Half way through renovations we consulted our Feng Shui books and learnt of 'Grand Duke' presence in the area of the new changes.. All through the building upgrades, obstacles seemed to keep c…

Dear Anon, Thanks for seeking clarifications on this. Actually, what I was trying to imply has more to do with the Chinese custom known as "ancestor worship". Let me elaborate: Often, when a loved one passed away; especially a parent; a filial eldest son would often have the photo portait blessed with a priest. Some priests even paint over the eyes of this portait for the dead. The above is more for info. It may or may not happen. But, given this idea, it is best not to place this portrait/ancestor tablet facing the main door or dining table or have the back on the same wall as the toilet. Or face into the bedroom. For other pictures; or pictures of rememberance, it is no…

Dear Anon, It does not matter if it is N-NE, NW-SE. But rather, often, the entrance is at the frontage of the building. And, if often also, open car parks are most conveniently location at the frontage or surrounding / around the perimeter of the building - taking into consideration, the movement in and out of the building. For example, in some larger buildings with only open car park, cars are often parallel parked in a one-way direction. Where vehicles come in at one direction and exit another direction. It also depends on the shape of the plot of land plus the outline of the plot of land. For example, if the front has only room for the entrance, but the back of th…

Dear Sandra, Often, this is not a major flaw. To some people, this is a non-issue. However, the simplest method is to use one's personale.g. table cloth or any cloth that is of appropriate length. One simply covers this bookshelf. For example if there are two shelves, for the lower shelf: 1. simply remove all the books from the first shelf. 2. Next, take a piece of cloth: fold it to the appropriate length; use part of it to cover the base of the first shelf. 3. Next, place back the books. Now, with these books on top of this cloth, it acts like a temporary cover for the lower book shelf. Often, the upper bookshelve is much higher and no issue. If one still wants to te…

Dear Wasis, 1. I personally think that a lot more issues should be taken into consideration, first. 2. I have always found the management concept: Situational approach - " It depends ". 3. It happened that, particularly in Singapore, we have a small island and majority lives in high rise buildings. 4. One must understand that as a building goes up (vertical); often, the building is at the `mercy' of the elements. 5. For example, taking my most recent comments on the condo: The Yardley. Some of the units are in a direct compass East-West line. 6. In addition, just imagine that this unit is e.g. at 7 floor/storey. And that there are no other buildings or trees to shade this…

Dear Cecil, I just bought a six rod hollow metal windchime and hang it in SE sector. Soon, my neighbour hang one with 5 rod hollow bamboo windchime near my windchime. Since that sector is more windy, we may say there is a windchime war. :) Do you think my neighbour's windchime could be considered a threat to my SE sector? FYI, my windchime produces more loudly sound considering it is about 1 meter length. For that big windchime, I paid $5 (compared to those at FS Emporium sites, it's cheap). Thanks in advance. Regards, Wasis

I'd like to know how important is the effect of the year and time star on a geomantic chart.I have a house that was build in period 6 with a facing of 210 degrees south-west.In 2004 my facing will have year star 2 and time star 5 in facing, which happens to be my front door too! The original geomantic chart has facing star 9, mountain star 6 and base star 3. Will the 2004 star combination affect in anyway! Will I have to protect from the negative 2-5 combination? If so in what manner would you suggest? An answer would be extremely appr?ciated! My kua number is 3 by the way if that is needed, my partner9, and my kids 2,5,4. Congradulation on a easy to understand site with a…

Dear Master, I have purchased a brand new house in 1998 which is facing 183 degree (S2) with front door at the South side of the house facing also 183 degree, sitting N2. It is rectangular shaped. Based on Flying Star analysis, my house has a perfect "sum of ten" (mountain star and period star)in all 9 palaces built in Period 7. With Period 8 coming, I am not sure this house would be as auspicious as in period 7, since the chi of period 7 house declines in period 8. Can you enlighten me with my dilemma? Thank you so much for your help! Wang Jing

Ha ha ha, that's interesting. But Mr Lee, if there is a red pipe (fire water hose pipe) at one side of the door, do you think the chinese red banner is still needed to scare off the kirins ? Kindly advise me on the above question as i am in doubt. Thanks very much. BR

Dear Anon, This sounds very familiar recently. This is because nearly everyone who got their keys at The Eden condo at Tampines are `cursing' their developer. Fortunately, many of those who got their keys in the first phase - several of my clients there, are fortunate to have the kitchen at the `South' location. If the kitchen is at the south, this if acceptable i.e. OK to have the stove face a water position. In general; the most inauspicious is the kitchen is at the north of the house. (For example, if one stands at the centrepoint and use a compass. If the kitchen is at the north direction; this is not very favourable. To be honest; the only Feng Shui remedy is to r…

Dear James, 1. Often, a better method is to apply Flying Star Feng Shui. This is because, if the sector that you are placing a water position has #3 or #4 i.e. bad wood elements (disputes, legal entanglements, scandals etc...) 2. Then under the Five elements concept: Water helps fuel wood element. 3. In such a situation, this will further inflame #3 or #4. 4. If you are not sure what I am talking about, please do some research into Flying Star. Or do a SEARCH in this forum for this topic. 5. The worst location based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui is to try and avoid water position at WEST direction of the house. As this is said to be the white-tiger domain. Water could in…

Dear Anon, The link can be found here: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-face.htm In fact, other than to see a doctor; some people managed to use a strand of their hair and tie a knot to `kill' or starve the mole. And often, it drops off after a few days. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, The clue here is to understand what is: Heaven Luck Earth Luck and most importantly what is Human (Man) Luck In general: 1. In the old, Feng Shui was used to look at locations for a city, town etc... 2. The most used word in the English dictionary are words like: I , me, my etc... 3. Here, we can draw a parallel to many of us. How do we improve our homes. 4. More importantly, the key success of any home is: Location, location and location. 5. Therefore: MACRO Feng Shui is the MOST important factor. 6. Commercial products 6.1 Often, what "corrupts" a Feng Shui practitioner, book author of Feng Shui etc... are commercial products. 6.2 In my opinion, usually, if o…

Dear Anon, I have viewed, once, opened, close and open your mail. Seeing whether I have the time to understand even if I have to reply to it. Frankly, I often do not really like mails that show only text e.g. SSW etc.... To be more effective, I prefer a sketch or pictures. As I hope you can understand, I do not want to have additional `white hair' digesting the information. I had just glanced thru your message. Often, high walls are not favourable especially since you live on the ground level. Especially so, if the walls do not have `openings' in between. For example, some wrought iron grilles with a flower bed. This is often better to soften the walls. " And not make you…
