Dear Sophia, It all depends on the interior layout plan. Actually, for those living in a landed property, often, the frontage of the home would be the living room area and "behind" it is the diningarea. Thus for landed properties, more often, the diningarea is higher than the living room. And not the other way as mentioned, below. This is quite common because, most of the time, "clear-space" should be at the"frontage" and the back of the home should be higher. Thus, generally, without taking intoother considerations, for landed properties, there may be a concern if theliving room is higher than the dining area. This would suggest that there is a "mountain" at the fronta…

Sophia Chia wrote: Where is the ideallocation to place theimage of the Kuan Kong orhang an image of Kuan Kong? Is it ok to place at the entrance of the house or at the living room. Understand it is symbols of protection in the home or office. Dear Sophia, This is not Feng Shui but rather, it is a common practise by many Chinese to place the Kuan Kong (holding a Chinese long sword) facing a main entrance. Since he is holding a sword, he should not be facing into or "looking" at us in the living room. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, This also has to depend on the regulations of individual countries. For example, in Singapore, today, all apartment especially those next to or in-close proximity to either the lifts or emergency staircase must use at least a half-hour fire rated main entrance door. Thus doors with such glass designs are out -- as it is against government building regulations. For other countries e.g. Malaysia, you may have to confirm whether it can be used. Locally in Singapore, most people -- even those living in the landed property avoid having partial glass doors because more of "custom" i.e. not quite used to the IDEA (in our minds) as it invokes "danger" real or unrea…

Dear Anon, In my opinion, the question asked, may have more dimensions than what you had mentioned, below. For example, other major considerations like: 1. Is the stove facing a good direction (often should face a good direction suitable to the woman "head" of the home.) 2. Best to avoid placing the stove directly at the NW compass direction. This is known as "fire at heaven's gate" - considered by many FS practitioners as a very inauspicious location. For the stove as well as an oven or even a toaster oven, here. 3. If the kitchen is located at the South (fire element) compass direction of a home; it is OK to have the stove facing a water position. But if the kitche…

Edited by Robert Lee: Cecil has been exceptionally busy, as such he haven't yet had time to add new reviews for condominium from Forum post request. You may have to seek professional services for a professional house hunting review if you need it urgently. Hi Cecil Do you have any comments on Westcove Condo as I actually intend to purchase 1 unit there - convenient amenities, near NUS, etc?

Dear Anon, Quote: hi, i am currently searching for a suitable location for my outdoor wedding photo-shooting, could you advise me on whether which part of Singapore or place is the most auspicious one. Is there any things to avoid of? thank in advance. I personally, don't think you should worry about whether the location for your shoot is auspicious or not. As the location auspicious or not isn't going to affect your wedding. Probably finding a nice environment or scenery would be more important so that you have nice memory of the shot as a memory. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Wanama, Wanama Thefirst wrote: I have a question about my best directions and my real element. There are two concepts in feng shui that can be used on direction:- 1. Eight House or suitability is often used on house facing direction andbed / study / work direction. More on smaller scale application. 2. Ba Zi element or direction is often used more on macro application. ie Staying in the Northern part of the Earth, North part of the country, house element direction etc. It is less used on a smaller scale level. The reason why the two concepts can sometimes have conflicting information is simple. Eight House is based on YEAR of birth, while Ba Zi Element is based o…

This extremely weak is the strength of the Fire element given your season of birth. As to whether you are weak or strong will eventually be based on how many of each elements you have after the seasonal influence, the number of each element you have is computated. The 56% is computate…

Should I just look for another home plan?I am a North person, main door is facing North. The land and surrounding area is good. The builder's layout plan is as follows: What you need to understand that is that, there is no way you can fix a suitability issue. If a house does not fit you, then always best to look for another more suitable house. There is no way to correct this. You can attempt to improve other feng shui flaw to offset this. However, if a house does not fit you, it means you cannot get the maximum amount of luck…

What if the home's main door faces any of the other locations (ie, West, Northeast, etc)? How do you determine the bad and good locations in this regard? The facing of the house you should determine by our facing direction rule set:- 1. Landed Property - ie facing of the house itself. Depends on the orientation of the house itself. 2. Apartment (2nd level - 7th level) - ie main door of the house as your facing direction of the house 3. Apartment (8th level and up) - ie living room or balcony as your facing directiondirection. This will be the facing …

While the general Share Market is Earth element. Fire because it deals with lots of selling. As a Strong Water person., Fire/Earth is favourable for you. Metal may make you overly strong so the overall is considered favourable because it consist of Fire - A Strong Water will benefit from this career, but a weak water person will not. Dear Kalvin, Kalvin Toh wrote: I need some help as i am chosing the paint for my new house, i am a strong metal and wife is weak water. Now I am choosing a paint for my flat and didn't know what colour to choose from. Can anyone help? Water would be your most favourable binding element. Strong metal likes Water to exhaust the excess Metal, while weak water needs more Metal and Water to make it stronger. So any light shades of blue/black/gray (Water element) would be an element favourable to both. A little Wood element shades (Green/Brown) and Metal (white/gold) together with Water element will be good. This is because Water element makes both of you strong, while Wood w…

Dear Sophia, Sophia Chia wrote: I come across from one of the articles if we will to sell the house we can check the ba zi the auspicous time for the buyer to have a look of the house. There is very little feng shui aspect that you can do to improve the sale of the house. Like you mentioned, the best would be to check out the best ba zi day or time, which might boost your overall luck. But ultimately, whether a potential buyer even notices that you have a house for sale depends on your real-estate agent's ability to get people to notice your unit is for sale. Ultimately, your location, priceof your home, how clean it looks etc. All these will be the determining factor f…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I have hung an oil painting of 9 koi fishes in our living room. The fishes look active and very alive, except that the background, supposed to be water, is more to the greenish colour. Is this considered inauspicious? It is always hard to comment something which we cannot see. However, most pond water tends to be greenish especially when painted at certain time of the day. Also, if the pond is very deep, the colour of the water (though blue), may seems dark greenish. I guess, there shouldn't be an issue as it is probably the painter trying to make it as realistic as possible. More important is usually the koi fishes. As long as they are fair…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: So, in calculating birth element and determining favorable elements, should the birth location (Singapore in my case) be also taken into consideration? Five element should be considered under these two scenario:- 1. as a Weak Metal, it means that you generally lack Earth and Metal, thus you are weak. Water and Fire are generally unfavourable for you because they make you weaker. While Wood is your wealth but as a weak metal you are not effectively able to control it. Thus, wood is also not very favourable for you unless you have more Earth and Metal to make you strong. This is always the basic level of application of the five element. 2. A…
