Dear Anon, I believe the idea has to do with the numerology based on Flying Star Feng Shui. For example, when we were at the period 1984 to 2003, based on the Flying Star numerology; #7 is suppose to be our Current wealth in that period (thus is suppose to be very auspicious under that period). while #8 at the time is suppose to be the Future wealth period. (again for 1984 to 2003.) while #9 is the future, future wealth prosperity. Also auspicious Actually, all these have to do more with the interpretation of the Luo Shu grid or flying stars in relation to especially the numerology of a home / apartment or office. But can one recall that in the past (1984 to 2003) …

Dear Sophia, In my opinion, what you had mentioned has more to do with perception / symbolic gesture of "dignity" accorded to the statues be it alive or "dead". Where possible, often, it is placed in the living room facing the seat/sofa. Thus, it is best to place the figurines on a proper display area e.g. on the shelf or display table etc.. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Spring, Please don't despair. With regards to the house Feng Shui, you mentioned that your bedroom is on the `east side'. Try to stand at the centrepoint of the house and use an ordinary compass to check to see if your bedroom is at the compass direction east. If your house was built or had a major renovation done between 1984 to 2003; most likely if your bedroom is at the `East'; for last year there will defintely be a Yearly #5 (misfortune and sickness) at that sector. This does not include at least a base #5 (misfortune and sickness) star at East. And usually there is another #5 or #2 in this location. If so, for Lunar New Year starting from 1 February 2003, the …

Dear Anon, Please see below:- In my opinion, you should consider the House as a East House (E2 with the following range 67.5 to 82.4 degrees). Often, this location is analysed more on Shapes and Forms in relation to the cul-de-sac. As you cannot provide a sketch of the cul-de-sac vis-a-vis; your home layout, the fencing, the main gate etc.., it is difficult for me to make further comments. The four good/bad sectors are influenced based on the interior layout. In your home, more importantly, understanding the fence, gate (gate-way) and where your home is within this cul-de-sac will help further. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Yes, Happy Prosperous New Year! Please see below:- Frankly, I have not checked out the combination of double #4, as I am so used to having automated such mundane tasks. However, under Period 8, #4 is considered as a mixed blessing star. When combined properly with other stars under Period 8, some combinations, can become auspicious. While other combinations, remain inauspicious. If the double #4's combined to become auspicious, than one can remove a metal wind chime. Since, such a strong metal element may destroy the auspicousness of the double wood #4's. If assuming the #4's are bad stars, than, there is no harm to have the wind chime. A water position…

Dear Anon, 1. The word "Hai" refers to the term " Water " 2. If it is a dragon, the word behind the sculpture should instead be " LONG " or dragon 3. For the word " SU " Chinese characters or words close to it. So, here, it can mean many things. What is the relationship of the Serpent and Dragon in Chinese beliefs? It is said that in Chinese folk lore, after 500 years of exisitence a SEA SERPENT transform and becomes a SCALY Dragon. Another transformation is after 1000 years when this SCALY Dragon becomes a horned Dragon. Again after another 1000 years, it becomes a Dragon with wings. In my opinion, your figure has this saying: "Encourage one to be diligent" *JOKE* Not su…

Dear Anon, In my opinion, there are no perfect `EXCELLENT' house. If one finds that overall the house is comfortable and nice, go ahead and purchase it especially if the external shapes and form is good. If all family members feel nice with the house, chances are; it would be good/acceptable. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Cindi, 1. Yes, in my opinion, one can certainly have a single mattress i.e. and keep it away daily the next morning. 2. This is secondary to Feng Shui and I feel that this is a practical approach in the use of limited space within the home. 3. I have heard that some FS practitioners are (quite) concerned with sleeping on a single mattress (within a bed post). As some of these FS practitioners (feel) that a bed should be `raised' so that Qi can flow under the bed. In my opinion, this is again of secondary or not as important as other FS concepts or theories. For example, it is more crucial to check for poison arrow(s) aimed towards a home or thru the windows. Warmest…

Dear Anon, 1. It is always good to ask the following questions:- 1.1. What is the purpose of Feng Shui? 1.2. What are it's strengths? 1.3. What are it's weakness? 2. Please note that Feng Shui is only about the influence of Earth on our Luck (Earth Luck). 3. It is not a cure all for everything. 4. Heaven Luck 5. Perhaps, you can partially use Ba Zi (Pillars of Destiny or popularly known as Eight Characters) to look at our Heaven's map. And from learning it, help us look at our given luck situation. For example, look at the Luck Pillars (this comes under 10 years, 5 years and yearly and also monthly or daily.) 6. But monthly and daily is in my opinion too much a hassle. …

Dear Anon, 1. In my opinion, this concept is somewhat "outdated" or may be very difficult to apply i.e. to a lay person. In particular the dragon and tiger concepts. 2. For the back (tortise/ or you mentioned turtle ) i.e. solid backing and clear space (phoenix) is still relatively easy to understand and apply for most of us. 3. This is because especially for those who live in urban areas, roads, waterways or even buildings can represent the dragon and tiger. 4. What I find that is more important than Para 3 at this moment is this question: Does the site able to collect wealth? If a site can collect wealth, then this is the opportunity i.e. Quantum Leap in Feng Shui. In a…

Dear Wasis, In my opinion, it is best not to practise Feng Shui in relation to a direction and its related colour or element. The rationale is because, it is too general without considering the birth chart of a house. Instead, you can perhaps look at the two theories:- 1. Protect, protect, protect. Stand a the main door and look out of the house. Are there any threats? If so, appropriate cure(s) should be used. Without relating to whether, e.g. North = water. As sometimes, two potted plants can be used to neutralise a poison arrow etc... 2. Flying Star Feng Shui Use this instead to look at the sector. As it involves three element relations and the 81-combinations of the …

Dear Marcia, Try to do a SEARCH using the Search feature under this forum. You can find the various alternatives to neutralise a beam. For example, I just did a SEARCH in this forum and the first two searchs show this two links:- 1 Photo Tours of Interest (with Pictures) Another alternative: bamboo flute 9/3/2002 2 Photo Tours of Interest (with Pictures) Another alternative: bamboo flute 9/3/2002 If your beam is made of concrete, the above can show you how to neutralise it. Dear Edna, 1. Feel free to use the manual method of determining your Gua (kua) number at:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm or 2. Use all the various Free Eight House (East/West Group) of person's reports at the following website:- http://www.geomancy-online.com In the above link, you can generate almost any type of Gua (Kua) related Free reports e.g. Eight House Report Sleeping Positions Office seating positions Gua Number etc... Actually, you should learn more about Ba Zi or Pillars of Destiny (Ba Zi). The rationale because, East / West group of persons is only based on just the year of birth. Warmest Regards, Cecil

All 9 of our fish died overnight! The aquarium and 9 fish were bought only 2-3 months ago as a feng shui enhancement the fish and tank were well cared for, there has been no reason or indicators of any natural or environmental factors that would reasonably explain the deaths.(Nfish all sank to bottom of tank instead of floating) If the fish deaths indicate an affliction that would've otherwise befallen resident(s) but the affliction killed ALL the fish in matter of hours... what are the proper steps to replace the fish/tank? how can I be sure the affliction was averted and not merely exhausted since all the fishdied . is there any way to find out what theaffliction …

Dear Joan, I am really not sure whether I should let you know this case. I believe sometime back as far back as 1999 or earlier, there was this example of underground water (or sewerage pipe) running under a house. And so happens that this German study, mentioned that there was a high incidence of cancer where beds were placed either above this pipe or close to it. Perhaps, maybe the pipes had corroded or etc... We do not know. Where possible, as you had mentioned, try to place your furniture especially sitting position as far away from the pipes. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi Cecil, I read some posting regarding the aquarium placement on Geomancy and they are really interesting. I am weak fire and we have a small square aquarium at home. One thing that we realised just now, the placement might not be so great. How should we do it correctly? Does the aquarium placement need to move every year?

Dear Beng Swan, 1. For Feng Shui in business, the most vital question asked is: 2. Is my business doing as well as those IN the SAME industry? 3. For example, if one owns say a provision shop in a neighbourhood. One shop is doing well and the other is not doing as well; Feng Shui can help. 4. But if one's company is e.g. in the Dot Com industry; where there is a high rate of `cash burn'; no amount of Feng Shui can help in such a situation. 5. For businessess, it also involves many factors e.g. 5.1 Marketing / Competitiveness of the good i.e. pricing 5.2 Is your market a niche market? or entry into the market is easy/difficult? 6. Is your marketing channel adequate? Adve…

Dear Robert and Cecil, I am new to this and may have inadvertantly sent you a duplicate whilst trying to edit the original message. My apologies! I wonder if you could help in any way. Our house is NE 2 facing, SW 2 sittingand is a period 8 house. I noticed that the 2010 flying stars occupy the same grids as the natal stars of our house. That is #1 has flown to grid 1 (W), #2 to grid 2 (NE), #3 to grid 3 (S), #4 to grid 4 (N), #5 to grid 5 (SW), #6 to grid 6 (E), #7 to grid 7 (SE), #8 to grid 8 (Centre), #9 to grid 9 (NW). What implications does this have for us ? Does it mean "double trouble " ? My husband ( kua 3 ) and I (kua 9 ) are East people and we are living i…

Dear Jen, When dealing with such questions, it is preferred that you provide a sketch. It need not be to scale but at least, should show this area in relation to the roughly the distance from the main door, whether the wall covers the entire main door or covers partially with a void. I feel that it would not be right to answer this question without a proper perspective. Warmest Regards, Cecil
