Dear Jennifer, Please see below:- - Where is the bedroom door and avoid placing the bed where it can be seen when you open the door. - Avoid placing the bed with the headrest towards a window. - Avoid placing the bed on the same wall as the toilet. - Avoid letting any part of the bed face the toilet door. (Remedies can be applied thou). 2. Only after you have considered the above and check to see if the bed can be placed e.g. where you mentioned at the "parallel". If not, you really cannot do much with a slopping ceiling unless:- a. Hopefully the ceiling is high. The higher the better as this will reduce the `sloping' sha. b. Get a poster bed with four `pillars' on e…

Dear Anon, In Feng Shui, where the kitchen door face the front door, it is good not to expose cutlery e.g. forks or knifes (if there is a kitchen table top) facing the door. Otherwise, there is not much one can do here. A stove can still face the refrigerator. However, hopefully, this is not the north part of the house or the kitchen is not at the north compass direction. Where, fire element is quite weak. Overall, such a senario you mentioned: cannot be undone unless there is a renovation involved i.e. there is no `magic' involved unless there is physical renovations involved here. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Steven In reality, one should consider the entrance towards the home even if the frontage seems to be the North. At your `second' level, the entrance to your home should be the location of the door. In my opinion, it should still be South. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sir I have 2 friends, both born in the year 1995 (pig zodiac), are planning to hold their ROM on 18 Jan 2024 (considered auspicious wedding date). However, I have checked that this date clashes with zodiac pig and in particular those born in 乙亥年. i,e. including 1995. Should they proceed with the ROM or select another date which does not clash with their zodiac? Look forward to your advice.

Dear Benjamin, 1. Currently, I understand that you are applying the Eight House Theory. 2. The most popular use of the Eight House Theory is:- 2.1 To find out how suitable the house is to the breadwinner. If the main entrance direction happens to be the death/disaster sector - particulary to the breadwinner than, this house is considered the `most' unsuitable for the breadwinner. 2.2 Do note that under the Eight House Theory one clue is that one must spent time at a sector in order to get the influence. Thus, it does not matter (as much) if say your death sector is in the toilet. Especially if one does not spent so much time there. 2.3 It is good to find out what is the i…

Dear Anon, Based on what you had mentioned, the newly insatlled lamp post does not seem to be a threat. A threat is where, if one stands at the window or door and looks outwards directly ... and if it slices into the house, this may be a problem for those staying there. Usually, if there is a `leak' in the house, it may not necessarily come from the `L' shape house. As `L' shaped houses need not necessarily be affected in this way. Most probably, there are other leaks in your home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Perhaps, we can look at it from a different perspective: 2. Could one night light imply "ONE NIGHT STAND?" Or worse if there are two night stands? Does it mean that one of the spouse has "TWO NIGHT STANDS?". *JOKE* 3. Frankly, these are pretty minor in Feng Shui. But on an asthetic side, often, a queen bed seem to look `more balanced' or uniform with two lamps on each side. Then again, it is not very critical in Feng Shui. 4. Here, we can look at it also from "commonsense" approach i.e. it would be more convenient at night for each partner to turn on and off the light when they go to e.g. the bathroom or outside the hall. Otherwise, the next time, …

Dear Martha, 1. Usually, this applies to a completed house and after the owners have moved-in and stayed in the home. 2. To clarify, although North and South are recommended to be avoided; it is not that the Grand Duke is situated in the South. But rather, the Grand Duke will be situated at the North. 3. Where North = Rat animal sign which also represents the water element. Since Rat (North) and Horse (South) which is represented by Fire element are considered incompatible i.e. Water vs Fire, South is called the position of conflict with North. 4. And in this situation, it is how, was derived North (Grand Duke) and South (Position of conflict). 5. For a new home, one can…

Hi Anon, RED string version is used to control the Metal so that you can effectively use it to control all the problem sectors. This is the correct cure to use for fixing problems. YELLOW string on the other hand has an objective to hopefully increase wealth as it uses Earth as the Wealth and thus Metal destroy it to create wealth. This the it "concept". However, often in good sector, you would probably want to activate the Water areas with Water features as usually those are the better stars you wish to induce rather than just the wealth from the 6 coins. This can be a debatable issue and it depends on your opinion. In my personal opinion, I also classify Electi…

Dear Tammie, Please see below:- Where possible, try to `anchor' the bed to a wall. For example, the wall next to the window. It can still face the window. This is a favourable or acceptable position: since usually, the opposite side of the window is the bedroom door. It is favourable in such a situation because, the head in this case (usually) in such situations, the person's head faces the bedroom door or can see who's coming in. I will reply separately to your most recent question. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hit d, In such a house, you will have to divide the house equally in the eight pie. The apply the cures that fall within that sector of influence. If possible try to see whether how much the sector falls under that sector. Usually the bigger sector will have greater influence. Put the cure in the center of that sector of influence based on the Eight Pie division. Just placed one cure in that sector. Meaning that if the cure placed falls in the Master bedroom and Bedroom, you place the cure on the wall between the bedroom, then it will then correct the influence for that sector. Sometimes it can be hard to explain. If you have a layout, I can tell better advise you what…

Dear Rosen, 1. Do you have a sketch (even a simple outline) will do of your plot of land in relation to the highway and the `enclave' of e.g. teh business district. 2. Describe, what is at the frontage, back and both sides of your plot of land:- 2.1. In general what is the road that leads into your building. 2.2. What are the height of the neighbouring buildings. 2.3 Is this an industrial (manufacturing) or business (commercial area) and are the neighbours (manufacturing or commercial). 3. Usually if your plot of land is `enclosed' within a district meant for business; it does not imply the same as what I mentioned earlier i.e. the residential area. Apologise for asking s…

Dear Anon, Note: this domain or message, is not Feng Shui but rather Chinese Horoscope based on the Year of birth:- 1. Based on Chinese astrology, the worst "hit" Tiger is the Water-Tiger born under 5 Feb 1962 to 24 Jan 1963 2. While the worst two Monkeys are those born in the year of the Metal-Monkey: 2.1 Metal-Monkey born between 20 Feb 1920 to 7 Feb 1921 2.2 Metal-Monkey born between 16 Feb 1980 to 4 Feb 1981 3. Where possible, these three groups should avoid attending a funeral or if (as a last resort) should not be there to view the closing of the coffin. 4. For buddhists or toaists, under Chinese beliefs, it is good to make an offering at a temple - to receive ble…

Dear Anon, Frankly, Feng Shui is by no means a mircle care to all problems. Your problem if any is what we would classify as a Human Luck factor. Particularly, if you lost your job to due to your attitude. Then probably the best thing you can do is to correct or improve your attitude. I don't think no amount of feng shui can help you here. It is always important to find the root cause to any problem. If you know what is the root cause, then work to correct it. Otherwise, even if you find another job, you might stilllose it the same way you lost the other. You see even if a person's luck isn't good in a period, but if he/she has good overall human luck (ie very hardw…

Dear Pamela, 1. What you brought up is quite an interesting subject. 2. Most of the time, if you had sought advise from Feng Shui practitioners, it seems that it is always a `No-no' to place swords. 3. Because symbollically it has sharp edges and for two reasons:- Commonsense approach -------------------- It is like having a loaded gun in the house. Especially with children around - may perhaps be considered safer, placing it away from them. E.g. in locked glass shelves. The sharp edges of the swords ----------------------------- Usually, this is not preferred as it symbolises disharmony. 4. Given the two, I would prefer to look at it from a commonsense approach as it ma…

Dear Anon, Based on the Holy Trinity of Luck, Man (Human) Luck is easier to work on. ie moresocialisation, getting opportunities to meet potential partyetc. This is much better then depending on those items you mentioned, as they are more for decorative purpose. There is no such luck item that will guarantee you romance. You will have to make that effort to give yourself the opportunity for any romance to even start. Just like in ba zi or any romance analysis. Even if you are supposed to have a romance luck say this 10-year period, but if you hardly meet enough person, you are less likely to find someone which you feel you want to live for the rest of your life. Warme…

Dear Anon, Frankly, I am not too sure how indepth the practitioner had advised your friend. Most commonly, both Shapes and Forms as well as Compass School Feng Shui is applied to a home. Thus Shapes and Forms Feng Shui does not involve time dimension. So does Eight House Theory of the Compass School Feng Shui. Usually, if Flying star Feng Shui is applied, the majority of practitioners would apply firstly the 20 Year Flying Star chart for a given home. As the above name suggests it is a " 20 Year Flying Star " of a home which consists of three variables such as Mountain#, Water# and Base #. These three total 3 variables to balance overall for a home. And a 20 Year F…

Dear Max Rosen, Happy new year to your too! Generally, the main door should be where your house number is located. However, for landed properties sometimes you have a choice of two entrance. Thus, it the main door becomes the one which you frequently use, as that is where the Qi enters and exit the house most frequently. Which one you should choose should depends on:- 1. Is that main door direction suitable to you (ie North-West, is it a good or bad sector for you - prosperity or diaster based on your Eight House Suitability) 2. Next depends on which has a better overall Stars (ie. which main door has overall better House analysis by the Flying Star report) Usually y…

Dear Steffi, 1. Thanks for bring this interesting question. 2. In fact, I had previously posted some information on this issue. 3. In 1986, when I first developed my Chinese Horoscope site:- http://www.lovesigns.net 4. I was trying to find an appropriate information for the first page of this site. 4.1 I found this quote:- " If we want to be loved we must disclose ourselves to the other person. If we want to love someone they must permit us to know them. " Dr. Sidney M. Jourard 4.2 When young many of us have either being told or discovered our personal English zodiac signs. E.g. Gemini, Libra, Cancer etc... And there were (are) untold number of such books describing our c…

Dear Jen, Since your main entrance area has #2 sickness #5 misfortune/sickness and #3 bad wood, try to avoid: 1. Too much earth elements e.g. yellow, cream or beige at the frontage area. 2. Avoid red colour also at this area (since fire - red colour may further fuel bad earth). 3. For #3, try also to avoid green colour at the frontage. 4. For one, it is ok to place 6 coins above the main door in a single row. Alternatively, see if you can instead place a wind chime outside of this area to help neutralise these three bad combinations. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Yum Chinn, 6. The main idea here is to compare this to an examination. 6.1 Many of us have taken exams where we had to answer 4 required questions. 6.2 The goal is to get as many marks as possible. If there are 4 compulsory questions and 100 marks in total, each question is worth 25 marks. 6.3 In exams, we should not only answer 3 questions. If the exam lasts 2 hours, we should spend 30 minutes on each question. 6.4 Teachers often say that if we only answer three questions and skip the fourth, we might fail. But if we try the fourth question, we can still earn some marks. 7. So, judging a home as “do…

Dear Anon, Please note that under the Grand Duke concept, some of the recommendations that I am about to give have more to do with (beliefs) and some may say that they are `superstitions'. Therefore, it is on the onus of anyone reading it to either `pick' up on some of these `beliefs' or if one is not agreeable, then, please skip any or all of the recommendations. You can still do renovations to the house. 1. Since you have just bought the house, it would imply that you have not moved in yet. This is in my opinion, particuarly good. Here, can still do the renovations: For the Chinese, normally a date is selected prior to the renovation. (not compulsory thou). Not to move…
