If the building has good " Feng Shui ", based on good shapes and forms and a good open space at the front. Dear Tracy, In general, spiral staircases are best to be avoided. However, it also depends on the location. As you have briefly mentioned, that it cannot be seen directly... If it is not seen directly from the main entrance, this is a `plus' point. Dear Jacqueline, When one tries to apply the Five Elements concept to a sector of a room, ideally, it should be referenced with the Flying Star Theory. This is because, the Flying Star Theory, uses the five elements to analyse each sector and the ultimate aim here is to create a balance at this sector. In general, without looking into detail, the layout plan viz-a-viz things like the location of the main entrance, toilet locations, it would be good to have the President's office located at a `solid' location protected behind by e.g. walls ... 3. Dear Susan, In Chinese culture, many traditional buildings have e.g. lions guarding the main entrance or other `fierce' creatures placed e.g. on a building. Thus, in my opinion, the "Gargoyles" that you had mentioned, served a similar purpose in some `western' buildings. For the Chinese, it is quite common to find a pair of dragons or a dragon "guarding" each side of the roof. However, this is usually found on temple roofs only. Most homes do not use such figurines. In Feng Shui, if it is a `public' building e.g. Chinese Chamber of Commerce Building or other public buildings that has a traditional touch, would usually place two lions on each side of the main entrance. Dear Melanie, In my opinion, there is really not much one can do in such a situation. Usually, (but may not be feasible) in your case is the use of false ceiling or a poster bed with cloth covers over the top of the bed. Since this option may not be available, hanging a crystal, may make one `feel good' but thats all it can do. In traditional FS, besides this situation, one uses e.g. the Flying Star to analyse and if there are any imbalances, neutralise it to lessen any effects in the sector. It is worth remembering that the essence of the above sentence can equally be applied effectively to Feng Shui. Dear Susan, It is quite common for the husband and wife to have "opposite" houses or kua under the Eight House Theory. Under the Eight House Theory, do look out for:- 1. How suitable the house is to the breadwinner i.e. one's kua or intangible force at the main entrance. 2. The Eight House relates to how much time we spent at a sector of the house. Dear Sean, Under the Eight House Theory, it is good to have a `suitable' front entrance facing one's good side. However, since your home is `mobile' it would suggest that it is quite small. In a small and mobile home, frankly it is quite difficult to apply certain Feng Shui principles. Perhaps, you can let us know what is the size of your mobile home i.e. is it around the size. If the centrepoint of the house is close to all directions, it is best not to `apply' Feng Shui but rather, look at the house interms of the environment i.e. Shapes and Form. Dear Pema, In my opinion, it is best to monitor the situation first since it is newly painted. The only best option is to make sure that the interior of the home has sufficent natural lighting (if possible) to create a more Yang environment. Other options include analysing the front entrance door using Flying Star analysis to confirm your `findings'. In situations where there is a `bad wood' or star #3 at the front door: combined with the brown colour representing wood, it may not be good as the brown color would further `enhance' the bad wood #3. Dear Diane, It would be `nice' if you have a sketch of the front door area to better appreciate the situation. Usually, it may not be all that bad as the front door is `protected' from poison arrows. This is the plus point. However, this is usually considered in relation to the entire house layout such as the entry and exit points of `Qi' e.g. from windows, main entrance to the back area and also to look at the `frontage' of the house. If my bedroom door is north facing into the bedroom and the bed head is facing east what can I do to help my husband sleep ! He has chronic sleep problems. His birthstar is 6Wood (born 1958)and mine is 8 Metal(born 1966). Our room is dark and full of dark furniture - at the foot of the bed is a large dresser(West), a window (south) is directly opposite the door, and another window is at the NE corner. The holistic approach to Feng Shui involves, a serious look at the Shapes and Forms both of the environment, the site and the home and the interior. Prints, photos are secondary and if this question was asked other than from a Traditional Feng Shui site, you can get remarkable `results'.
