Dear Master Cecil Lee as a young learner of fengshui I am rather uneducated and ignorant of the intricacies of fengshui. I would like your guidance and wisdom in these matters. do bathrooms require specific layout or usage of materials much like other rooms do, or are bathrooms an exception? glory to our country Yarawit f.1 point

Happy New Year! I know you are referring to a home. However, in my opinion, the best to understand the whole concept is to use an example from an Office Feng Shui Review. A Step-by-step Case Study of the application of Flying Star Feng Shui [House Gua] followed by the use of the Eight House (or Life Aspirations / 4 Good/Bad directions) Step 1: Applying Flying Star Feng Shui [House Gua] 1. This first slide shows the importance of finding e.g. the best sector for the Head or in this Case the CEO. 2. For example, the office environment is limited to the "white areas". And in 2023 onwards (till 2043)., two of the best locations are North = #9 water star or Career and overall luck sector. 3. And NE = #9 Mountain Star or the Networking and relationship sector from 2023 onwards (till 2043). However, this area does not belong to the business or company. Step 2: Applying Eight House (4 Good/Bad Directions) 4. In an office environment, it is always ideal to find the best or most optimal room for the boss. In this example is the CEO. 4.1. It is equally nice also if his seating can also match his optimal. 5. Known from Step 1 is that the best rooms are located at North. And there are two possible rooms for the CEO. 5.1. Fortunately, either of the two Office Rooms 1 and 2 in BLUE are suitable for this CEO. Furthermore, it is equally good or nice-to have this CEO sit facing "West" direction 6. This example also shows next best office rooms for e.g. Dy CEO, Finance, HR Legal, Operations. 6.1. Given that this is office has several ranks of managers, not possible for everyone to be located at the best seats. 7. Please note that this same concept can equally be applied to a HOME Feng Shui. As this example shows the flow: 1st Flying Star then nice-to Eight House (4 Good/Bad) directions.1 point

Dear Anon, Generally, Eight Aspiration / Eight House / Flying Star are part of what is known as the compass school of feng shui. 1. Eight Aspiration where the directions for the various sectors are always fixed based on the bagua direction is the least important of the many concepts. 2. Eight House is more personalised thatn Eight Aspiration where each person depending on the year of birth, will have a certain 4 good and 4 bad directions. This helps you determine whether a house or sector of a home generally suits you or not. If a house has excellent feng shui but it doesn't suit you then, you get very little luck from the house itself. 3. Flying Star is something like a birth chart of the house itself. Similiar to like Ba Zi is a chart of a person's luck. This concepts helps you determine where are the good sectors and bad sectors in a home itself. It does not consider any suitability to any individual person. But generally, helps you determine the various magnetic influence, ie where is your potential wealth sectors, where you should position your water feature. It also helps you determine where there are potential sickness related stars or the various stars (ie sickness, robbery, misfortune, lawsuits etc.) So in general, you should always use flying star to help correct existing problems. Ensure that the house at least should be suitable to you and that all family members have a suitable bedroom etc. Eight Aspiration is only applied when all Flying Star and Eight House requirements are done. This is because Eight Aspiration such as South-West is Romance sector are very static templates. Why I say this is imagine, what this concept tells you is that for everyone on this earth your romance sector is South-West. So this means that say in an office if there is a particular girl that other male colleagues like, they all rush to follow this tip that by placing 99 roses in the South-West sector of the home, they will automatically get the heart of the girl. Unfortunately, this will never work simply because it is simply too general a concept. The only additional analysis which isn't considered is the external Shapes and Forms. You must always remember, that matter how nicely you do up your interior of the home, but if your surrounding and exterior building is collapsing or run-down, then no matter how much you enhance within your home, it will not help you that much. This is why despite having all these compass schools, the most important in a home is not the interior, but rather the external factors. If you can get house with excellent external factors (ie a house with receive position, then you already have won half the battle in choosing a good home.) Only then should you focus on your interior. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research1 point

1. Frankly, not perfect but the overall development is in an orderly neat arrangement with parallel service roads. This is a plus. 2. The house is in a favourable rectangular profile. Thus as mentioned is not perfect but in my opinion not a fatal error.1 point

Under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, the MRT tracks is not a THREAT. Good news is that nowadays MRT trains both run quieter and the sound reflecting panels does seem to help. But again, do expect that there are many Indian Chiefs in Feng Shui. And if one meets a Conservative Feng Shui Master (FSM); then one has to swallow the .. comments. Frankly, there are three kinds of luck under the Chinese Luck System. Often we call it the Holy Trinity of Luck Heaven Luck = Born with or ba zi = 33.33% Earth Luck = Feng Shui = 33.33% Human or Man Luck = 33.33% TOTAL = 100 % Here, one will notice that in some situations, one is ready to accept that there may be some noise etc.. And all these comes under Human or Man Luck. And this itself is 33.33% of the total luck. It will be different if one cannot seem to accept the above. And it can impact on the TOTAL luck:-1 point

The Majority of Conservative Feng Shui Master will often ask to refrain from buying. In general, the tracks seems to run quite parallel and no nasty @slicing towards the unit. The Sha Qi has more to look out towards the parallel support beams with the sound proofing. This has more to do with external Shapes and Forms; especially white noise pollution. Which does affect health and wealth.1 point

1. Our auspicious dates does many calculations such as:- checking whether the day suits the ba zi checking the ba zi of the individual to the day for any clash/harms/punishments etc. checking for the day vs the year having any many issues. as well as some key important Tung Shu/Chinese Alamac general dates assessment. So these are very personalised to the individual and you can use the rating in general to determine which dates are best. The other additional information such as clashes/harms are also provided, so that you can compare between two dates to see which is better. Usually, the dates with the least overall possible clash/harm found would be the most ideal. Our personalised auspicious dates generally superceeds any general Tung Shu / Chinese Alamac, as those are based on generalised dates which doesn't yet personalise to the individual. Often, you still need to check all these such as whether there are any clashes the day and your ba zi, whether the elements is suitable to you or not. Our auspicious dates does all these for users, so you don't need to do any further calculation except to select the best overall dates for your important events. 2. So select the date by the last Rating column, such as 8 Sep 2022 (Thu) which is Auspicious, followed by either 3 Sep / 6 Sep being the average dates. Generally, the order would be:- Very Auspicious - Most suitable Auspicious - Next most suitable Average - Next next most suitable Mixed Blessing - Not the most ideal but better than Inauspicious / Very Inauspicious Inauspicious - Least inauspicious Very Inauspicious - Most inauspicious As this will consider whether the day is most suitable to the ba zi elements and whether whether are any major clash/harms with the day itself, then rank it accordingly. 3. For clashes/harms, the most important major clashes/harms or any incompatibilities will be shown on the 2nd column just under the date column in red text. Such 2nd Sep 2022 where there is a HS Bad Element, Self Punishment etc. Or like 10 Sep where there is a HS Clash etc. These will indicate either the day itself having some major conflict with the year or individually whether there are some major clash/harm or incompatible elements found. Often, dates with these red warning text will usually be Inauspicious in some way or other. All these will already be considered in the rating. 4. For the 4th column the Clash/Harm/Punishment/Self Punishment, these shows all the minor clash/harm/punishment/self that may occurs in all your ba zi pillars vs the day. Since your ba zi contains many pillars year/month/day/hour plus 2 additional pillars. There will certainly be some clashes/harms/punishment/self punishment that occurs between your pillars (such as between the day vs the hour pillar), especially when so many pillars are checked. Often, many of these are less important, but it is important to be able to see this in the report, so as to be able to make a better decision between two dates of similar ranking which is better. Usually, when there are clashes/harm/punishment/self punishment in this column they are listed under 4 lines, 1st line (red text) are clashes, 2nd line (red text) are harms, 3rd line (black text) punishment and 4th line (black text) are self punishment (specially single character like Hai). All these are shown, in case there is a need to check what is in conflict etc. 5. In any case, what is important is between two dates say both are ranked Auspicious, but one has more minor clash/harms found in the 4th column, than the other Auspicious date which has no clash/harms, then the date with least clashes or least red clash/harms lines would be deemed better. Generally, the one rated Very Auspicious/Auspicious would be better than the Average ones since that indicates that the elements and day are suitable to the person which can boost their luck. Such as follows:- Based on your screen capture example, 8 Sep would be the best since that is Auspicious ranking. There is nothing to compare with, so that is the best available. Of course, if there is another Very Auspicious date ranking, than that would be better than this. Otherwise, at this date range, 8 Sep is the best at the moment. 3 Sep and 6 Sep are similar since they are average, with similar punishment (Wei-Shu) since that is the 3rd line in black text. Difference between 3 and 6 Sep is that 3 Sep is Ji-Wei (Earth-Earth) day, while 6 Sep is Ren-Shu (Water-Earth). Of which both still has strongest Earth influence of the day represented by the 3rd Personal element column. This Personal element column, considers any combinations which may occur between your pillar and day, which sometimes can change the elements to a new element. So it represents the element your chart views it, when it encounters it. Depending on your ba zi, if you do lack more Water element, then 6 Sep maybe better as the day itself contains some additional Water element. While if you lack more Earth elements, then 3 Sep is better since it is made up of 2 earth elements. So this is how you can also use the elements you lack to further fine tune which day is better between the two. 6. So with our report, all these info will be available to help clients make a better report. Hence, to summarize, all you need to do is zoom into the dates which are Very Auspicious, or Auspicious or at least Average, then check the 4th column for which dates having the least minor clash/harm/punishment/self punishment that occurs to decide which of the dates is usually the best. Last is to check the elements of the day to determine which elements that you lack in your ba zi, to further determine which dates is even more suitable. 7. The goal is to find a date that is most suitable, and with least conflict with your ba zi, as well as no major conflict between the day vs the year. In any case, the report is already simplified so all you need to do is to zoom in by the ranking column on the right. With that you can already tell which are the better dates. The rest is just for further fine-tuning to better maximise the auspicious date report. Most may not really need to know about those in details, unless you want to fine-tune to pick the best possible dates available. Hope that helps.1 point

These are some considerations: 1. In period 7; usually if Flying Stars are applied; you should be looking for the location of the following numbers: Mountain Star (MS)#7 and Water(W)#7. As at that period : 1984 to 2003; the reigning wealth star is = #7. 2. In period 8; using the same Period 7, SW1 chart; 2.1. #7 becomes the past prosperity number. 2.2. #8 becomes the CURRENT prosperity wealth star. 2.3. Thus there will still be no change in the flying star chart. But locate where the MS#8 is at and the W#8 also. 2.4. For example, in period 8, theWater star#8 is located at North and the Mountain Star #8 is at East sector. 3. In period 9; especially if the house is not completely torn down or major renovations done; one should still use Period 7, SW1 chart. 3. But since this will be period 9; then locate where are the Water#9 and MS#9. As in Period 9; #9 becomes the current prosperity star(s) while #8 becomes the PAST prosperity stars. 4. Your sum of fear is realised! In fact, in Period 9 and if we still retain the Period 7 SW1 chart; the MS#9 flies to the SE and Water #9 files to the South. These two sectors will have auspicious "Current" prosperity stars. 5. Thus, based on THE FACTS; most likely your friend's master MAY be pulling a fast one on your friend. 6. A Period 7, SW1 facing home will have MS#7 and Water#7 at it's frontage, thus as I had mentioned previously #7, today : is the PAST prosperity star(s). 7. BUT if you are using Period 8, SW1 stars then you will find the Water star = #8. While the Mountain Star (MS) = #8. Thus, if there is visible frontage at the frontage of such a house and there is sufficient back(ing) at the home; then in theory; this is a good house. 8. Thus, frankly, I have clearly illustrated, above that there is nothing difficult about applying Flying Star. And the fact speaks for itself. 9. To sum up: if the house has no major renovations done or torn and rebuilt usually it is still a Period 7 e.g. SW1 home. 9.1. Only thing to remember that if this is 1984 to 2003; then locate theLeft (MS) and Right (Water) stars = 7 = CURRENT prosperity during that period. 9.2. Correspondingly, if this is 2004 to 2023 (under Period 8); then locate where are the #8's ? 9.3. If this is 2024 to 2043 (under Period 9) then locate where are the #8's; that's all. 10. From this logic; I am afraid; if purely based on Flying stars; your friend's master has just pulled a fast one on him! Your some of concerns are realised... Lots of smoke coming from that master's ears for sure!1 point

1. Further to what I had mentioned; this is the template for what I had mentioned, previously in an earlier e-mail. 2. Comparing the sectors:- 2.1. For example from now to 2023 (Period 8); if the frontage is at North and a bedroom is located at e.g. East; 2.2. While from 2024 onwards to 2043b(Period 9); we find that the wealth stars had gone to South = toilet and there is a missing corner at SE; then when comparing the periods; From now to 2023, seems more auspicious then Period 9. 3. Thus logic says that one needs to compare the stars with sectors for either period to see which is considered better or worse-off or even no-change?1 point

Is my Period 8 house still lucky from 2024 till 2043? Many have collected their keys on or between 2004 till 2023. And due to the change of qi, luck can change as we move into year 2024 onwards. [Note: In Singapore, for HDB flats, one has to check the "Lease commencement date or Start date" to confirm that 1st owner's key collection was on/after 2004 onwards till 2023. For Landed Homes, Condo, EC it is called the Temporary Occupation License or T.O.P. date.] Some have by now felt things may not be smooth or have health issues. The reality is the Feng Shui Qi or lucky sectors will change for either for the better or for the worse. 1. N1 [Less lucky under Period 9. As formerly double #8's at it's frontage at South] 2. N2/3 [Better luck under Period 9.] 3. NE1 [Less lucky under Period 9. It also depends on the layout plan.] 4. NE2/3 [Take extra care of health issues from 2024 onwards.] 5. E1 [Less lucky under Period 9.] 6. E2/3 [Luck should be better under Period 9. Again depends on the layout plan.] 7. SE1 [Depends on layout plan for both Period 8 and 9.] 8. SE2 [Lucky during Period 8. For Period 9 generally less lucky. But depends on layout.] 9. S1 [Unlucky under Period 8. Depends on where is the living room & external features.] 10. S2/3 [Less lucky under Period 9. As formerly double #8's at it's frontage at North.] 11. SW1 [Take extra care of health issues from 2024 onwards.] 12. SW2/3 [Depends on external features. Can be luckier under Period 9 especially depending on where is the living room.] 13. W1 [Better luck under Period 9 but this depends totally on layout plan.] 14. W2/3 [Less lucky under Period 9 but depends on where is the living room.] 15. NW1 [Really depends on layout plan both under Period 8 and 9.] 16. NW2/3 [Less lucky under Period 9.] Note: In addition, it also depends very much on the layout plan and especially the location of the Living Room, Master Bedroom, Front Door and Kitchen. Case Study 2: Period 8 N2/N3 Facing N2 352.5 - 7.4 & N3 7.5 - 22.4 [Better luck under Period 9.] 1. Generally, this house will enjoy better luck from 2024 till 2043 as by then the frontage at North has the auspicious current prosperity WS #9 at it's frontage. 2. Equally good if either the Master bedroom or the Living Room is at NE. 3. If bedroom is at NW, need to disarm #2 = sickness with #5 = misfortune/sickness. 4. Good also if dining or living room / bedrooms located at West &/or SW = #1 coming prosperity wealth star.1 point

1. Thanks for sharing your concern. As this is a good and relevant question. 2. There are differences in opinions even in the Feng Shui Master (FSM) community. 3. In my opinion, generally, there are TWO MAIN arguments:- ONE (1):- 3.1. Day of move-in (Based on the concept of the most Yang Qi) 3.1.1 This is based on logic and common sense: where it is considered that a brand new home is just but an empty shell = Yin = No activities. Furthermore, "standard" flats have bare living/dining and bedroom floors. How to start staying in such a home? 3.2. Therefore for the above reason, some FSM often consider the day of moving-in as the start date. Here there is indeed Yang Qi. 3.1.2 Thus, based on this premise: a house is still vacant or yet no YANG Qi. Therefore, this group of FSMs may consider this. Thus the Flying Star chart would depend on this. TWO (2):- 3.2. The day the foundation is laid (Based on the day of "conception" or in a home the laying of the first Foundation = Topping up ceremony [if any]) 3.2.1 Some conservative FSMs say that the day the BLOCK's foundation is laid, this should be the birthday of the house. 3.2.2 This is similar to in the past and even now, many Chinese say that our actual birthday is to add 1 year to our present birthdate. This is real: "Not something I puck out of the air." As traditionally, every one is in our mother's womb for 9 months. Thus this is the rationale for adding that ONE year! 3.2.3 Thus some FSMs insists that the house/unit period is based on the start date of construction! 3.3. Date of T.O.P. 3.3.1 In my opinion, this is often used, today. Especially by FSMs for homes that had T.O.P several years after T.O.P. 3.3.2 For two reasons: REASON ONE (1):- 3.3.3: Many can't even remember when the moved-into their new home. In fact, just give some of us a year or more.. and we really don't remember the date. Unless we noted it somewhere or moved-in on a special occasion. 3.3.4 Worse, if the home has changed hands with a 2nd, 3rd or more owners/tenants!. How to ask the First owner! Even if asked, may not remember when they actually moved-in! REASON TWO (2):- 3.3.5 HDB or developers are not required to offically record the date of first piling work or laying the ground or topping up ceremony (if any). Some homes were built in 2 1/2 years.. others 3 years.. And homes like HDB City Vue T.O.P. 5 or more years later. 4. Thus this variant of the "Moved-in or Yang Qi" is difficult to be implemented. 5. This is why many FSMs find that T.O.P. date or for HDB = "Lease commencement Date" is always available. As one can official check one's home's lease commencement date. As this date is relevant to confirm the remainder of their 99 year leasehold homes. Western or Lunar Calendar: Moved-in before or after Chinese New Year? For home owners that moved-in between two Flying Star Periods such as 1983 - 1984 ; 2003 - 2004; and 2004 - 2023? 6. Other considerations is the use of the Western or Lunar calendar? For example: Should I consider the start of Chinese New Year (CNY) 2024 that I moved in as belonging to Period 8 or 9. Or that I moved in before the start of CNY as belonging to Period 8? Fortunately, this only happens on the fringe of Period 8 or 9. And not every other year's consideration. 6.1. Again, this is about recall. If the home has changed hands a few times. Who do we check to find out when the first owner moved-in? Or that many of us even cannot remember the move-in date after 1 year or more? 6.2. I understand nowadays an owner of a unit is able to log in electronically into their property's profile. And query the HDB system for the unit's "Lease Start Date". 6.3. HDB through the years call this by various names. Sometimes HDB calls it as "Lease Commencement Date". 6.4. In the private estate world of ECs/condos and landed properties: they use only one term: T.O.P. for this! 7. Not too long ago, there is a need or requirement to obtain a Valuation Report. And that valuation report will say: Lease Commencement Date:- 8. Note: The above report is no longer in use. As the whole method or process of purchase has been changed, today. 9. In the past many HDB documents and reports always referenced it as: "Lease Commencement Date". But nowadays there is no more standard. It has also been called the "Lease Start Date". 10. I think I know why: For programmers: they usually try to shorten descrptions for their programs! Thus perhaps use Start instead of Commencement. LOL 11. In conclusion and based on common sense: many FSMs very much depend on the T.O.P. date especially for re-sale HDB homes. For the above reasons.1 point

How do you Feng Shui your home? Use the front door? Please click this link for a good understanding of this =============================== Older "Fragmented" Resources =============================== Very often, how a main door is placed depends on the architect's decision to "join" that unit to a common corridor. In this simple illustration, one can see that the main door could be in either positions depending on how the architect connects the main door to the common corridor of a block of flats.1 point

1. Enclosed please find an extract of a recent review of an overseas client's home. 2. Plotting Period 6, Period 7 and Period 8's Flying star charts of each sector 2.1 In addition, I also looked at Annual stars 2018 and 2019 3. In this extract: the Period 6 and Period 8 stars are identical = MS4 with WS1 = 100 confidence level to implement improvements or cures for that sector. 4. This is not rocket science! It is both the passion and meticulous hard work to prepare Periods 6, 7, 8 charts as well as annual stars for 2018 & 2019. 4.1 In addition, need more time and effort to digest all these and come up with the best possible cures or enhancements.1 point

These are some considerations: 1. Few geomancers have limited life experience with the switch-over between one period or the other. 1.1. The rationale is simple: it occurs between 20 year intervals. 1.2. Even if a geomancer had lived through a few 20 year intervals; many were either kids, teens or doing work other than in the field of metaphysics (Feng Shui etc). 1.3. Some who lived through one or even 2 or more such intervals often also do not actively research into or study a transition period. Academically, it should be a study spanning many years stretch. 2. Too many Indian Chiefs 2.1. Feng Shui as we all know is non-regulated. And even in Singapore, we begin to see more and more going into a Feng Shui career. I am coming to the point... 2.2. Thus if you pose your question to many geomancers; one will certainly get varied range of answers. And one would afterwards.. either be more confused or don't know who is right or wrong. 3. How do we go from here? In general, we can classify most geomancer's view points into two distinct camps: ONE : The conservatives (and strictly by the book) or TWO: The modernists/practicalist 4. ONE: The conservatives: view point is that unless a building's foundation has been demolished; the building will always remain from that Period. I am not going to bring in the idea that to even some conservatives; the start of laying the foundations can even be the day of the birth of the building or block. Few even are aware or would not be an issue if it is not close to a change over. 4.1 For example: HDB City Vue SERS started foundation works around 6 years ago. Even so, it is comfortably within the Period 8 duration. Even if TOP is this year. 4.2 This group is pretty straightforward and quite uniform in their thinking and agreement. 5. TWO: The modernists/practicalist: this is really a varied group. Their views can be as different as morning, noon or midnight. 5.1. For example, some geomancers will say no need to demolish the house; an act of changing the main door, windows + minus flooring can change the period. 5.2. While others say a major renovations of the entire home (especially an apartment) will change the period. 6. What type of home is this? 6.1. For a landed property, there is also the difference between A & A works (the foundations and support frames are not touched) to the entire demolishing of the house which is clear-cut of a change of period. 7. For apartments, it is not like one can demolish part of the home or remove the roof-top. A landed property can do such things. 8. In my opinion, it depends. We go by the feel when we are on-site. Such as a major upgrading of the exterior + new landscaping and + maybe major renovations. 9. For your home, based on your description, may still treat the home as belonging to Period 7. 10. Frankly, I have often drawn two charts : say Period 7 and Period 8 or even Period 6 with Period 8 on many occasions. 10.1 And place both sets of stars side-by-side to see if there are any correlation. 10.2 On many occasions, for example under the Period 7 chart there is a bad flying star number say #5. 10.3 And in the Period 8 chart also either an #5 or #2. Here, if one encounters similar "bad" stars but jumbled up e.g. in Period 7 it could be the Mountain star #5. While in Period 8 same sector but as a Water star. 11. Why can't one think outside the box and instead of arguing till the cows come home; do two or even three charts? 11.1 I prefer to do one better! 11.2 Extract of a sector with Period 6, 7, 8 charts together with Annual stars 2018 and 2019:- 11.3 There are some similarities in P6 with P8 especially where both have a #7 star. And under Period 6 and Period 8, this sector based on the 81 combinations have similarities in that sector.1 point

1. There is frankly no encyclopedia or a manual to say for sure whether a home will change period or not. 2. As this is not an exact science. 3. Usually, when we enter a home; some people use their intutition to feel whether there is a potential change or not. 4. No matter what, many geomancers would plot two charts and compare them. 5. Frankly, Period 9 is just around the corner. And usually by 2022 onwards.. even if a home is under Period 8 may be more luck or less lucky when it comes to Period 9. 5.1 This is one more consideration. And you should prepare three charts: present, Period 8 and another for Period 9. (In case you might want to change to Period 9 instead). Although it is still a few more years more.1 point
