Dear William, Frankly, there is no harm in hanging a painting of guan yin facing the main door. Usually, it is hang in the living room area. Although the painting of guan yin does not have it's eyes "dotted", it is still best to avoid:- 1. letting the painting face the dining table 2. have it's back to a toilet wall or share a toilet wall 3. avoid facing into any of the bedrooms. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Ann, I strongly believe that there are more sectors that need balancing also. However, for a #3, #9 and #7 combination, it is not too good an idea to use water here:- 1. #3 is a bad wood element. And water helps to further fuel bad wood! 2. #9 is under Period 8, the "Future prosperity star" and if it is also the ws#9, then avoid adding water! This is because 9 = fire element. And adding water would drown your "future prosperity". 3. #7. Actually, #7 is a weak metal. And can easily be exhausted when it takes care of #3 bad wood. (Here, metal destroys wood or exhausts it.) In fact, #9 is also used to control #7. Thus, a water position is not an ideal thing to us…

Dear Emily, Only if #8 is a Water star, can we best activate it. However, in your question, since #8 = base star, it will have to take on the characteristics of it's personal element i.e. this is suppose to be an auspicious earth element. And on it's own, using water is not a good idea. Since water is like having a "hole to drawn the mountain". Not the kind of idea to do so. In fact, under a Flying star chart, if there is e.g. a base #8 while one of the other stars is a #5, because of Period 8, the #8 is suppose to reign supreme or take precedence over only one #5 in the chart. But if there are two or more #5 with #8 in a sector, than, this may over power #8. For exa…

Hello Sir, First of all I would like to congratulate you all for your nice and so well organised site. I have two questions to ask. My kua number is 4 (I was born on May 30th 1971) I live in a house in which a big part of the east side (4-east-love and marriage) is missing because that's where the entrance of the other appartment above my house is. I try to sleep with my head pointing to the southeast since this is one of my other good directions. I would like to know what else I need to do in order to overcome this problem and really activate the love and marriage direction . My second question is what happens if on the northwest ofthe house is a kitchen (in which the …

Dear Rose, 1. Firstly, although white is associated with the metal element, generally, it is a very safe colour to paint, since it is also a neutral colour for the home. (Even though both of you are considered as a strong water person - it is ok). 2. Traditionally, therefore, white is a neutral and pleasant color. 3. In general, under period 8, pastel shades of earth colors like beige is usually a better option since it is the "color" of Period 8. 4. So, in general both colors are acceptable. 5. In order to fly to period 8, one may have to remove a portion of the roof or change some of the roof-tiles of the home. In an apartment, symbolically one change to period 8, …

Dear Danny, Have u taken into consideration both partners (husband and wife) if you have two parties in the masterbedroom. Without any major renovation, it is best to look at the bedroom - with first priority on the Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. As the owner of the home, it is still best to occupy the master bedroom instead of using the study as the master bedroom - (first priority, here). Under the Eight House Theory, there is not much one can do, since it is a fixed idea or concept. Actually, the "bad influence" or rather it can belooked at by applying Flying Star Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sandy, Yes, it makes practical sense for the 4-poster bed to be covered with fabric or lace. - OK, no issue. As it makes it easy to "maintain" i.e. wash and re-use again. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, To give another "crude" way of associating with language, for example, some people use language in the "wrong way". For example, in Singapore, some of us learn dialect or use dialects to 'scold" people or use "foul language" widely. Here, the act of verbal abuse or like a politician, using much of the language to stir up people, can be considered as the "fire element". Anyone therefore, scolds someone, use 4-letter words can be considered as the act of using the "fire element". This is just an example. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, In reality, frankly I believe, these are fixtures and very difficult to remove nor keep away from. However, currently, the major concern is that of sewerage pipes, than water pipes. But lets hope, this is non-issue. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sophia, 1. 6 (SIX) represents "big metal" and this is why, it is commonly used as a "cure" to neutralise e.g. #2 (sickness) or #3 or #4 (bad wood - career, lawsuits, scandals, education, romance type of issues) 2. Since we are now under the influence of Period 8, there is now a surge of anything to do with the number 8. Previously, the phonetic sound of "8" is particulary very auspicious especially for the Cantonese dialect group. 3. But now, many would like to hear that 8 is a good or SUPPOSE to be a very auspicious number under Period 8. 4. However, if we stick purely to the academic line of the Flying Star School of Feng Shui:- 6 = metal element 8 = earth el…

Dear Cecil, WOW, i'm very impressed by yourpractical approach, patience and response. ;-)Regreted for not knowing your service earlier. ;-( Being so generous to our queries (which you are not obliged to reply, in fact), i'm very sure that you can give very detailed info to engaged services, as compared to the FS service i'd previously engaged (he just gave me some sketch on my floor plan). Now i understand that there is no "easyrectification" to my main door/ Qi issue: Proposal 1: a sizable space need to be "set aside" between the partition and main door. ;-( Proposal 2: dining tableat A may make the walk way "less friendly", as i plan to buy a 6-seater dining table. ;…

Hello Mr Cecil Lee, I know my house has leaks but I need to knowurgently if there is hope for us:- Hubby's kua no. is 5. Hubby's ba-zhi'sbest door facing is Southwest. 1) House is north-east facing, ie. so is main door. 2) Car porch is right in front of main door. 3) 2nd floor bathroom is above main door. 4) House behind us and the house on its left have lap-pools.(These lap-pools occupied the front 3/4 of their housesonly). 5) House is on slightly higher ground than houses at the back (cos' our design hasfew steps in front of main door). Our backwall is higher. 6) A courtyard at centre west wall. 7) Straight passageway because staircase on one side and courtyard…

Does skylight window in roof make the house period change? It does look up to the stars and I had the roof power-washed recently. I feel a change and want to apply correct applications. Highest Regards, AmyB

Dear Amy, No, removing the trees (external) does not change the Flying star qi. However, this year, the Grand Duke of Jupiter is at compass degree SSW. And removing the tree(s) at SW may not be a responsible thing to do. Given that one should not distrub the Grand Duke at his present location. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Edwin, Please see below:- However, Flying Star is but only one of the theories. Another key element would be the Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. For example, most likey, your home has favourable or relatively good Shapes and Forms. And Shapes and Forms together with Flying star Feng shui combined together seems to (perhaps) help aid your home Feng Shui. Contrast this (perhaps again) with some other homes that may have good Flying star Feng Shui but bad Shapes and forms. Thus, the situation may not be the same, overall. Sometimes, we go to some Feng Shui sites and they give very flowerly names to number e.g. Purple = #9 or Yellow = #5. Anyway, again, all…

Dear Anon, Non-Feng Shui chatter... 1. To be truly honest, in this day and age, the first major consideration is on whether, have you installed an alarm system or if it is, is the system adequate. 2. This is because, as much as we like to use Feng Shui cures, things like #5 x 2 (misfortune sickness) can sometimes be twarted in a home by e.g. the installation of a hepa air cleaner etc.. 3. On the Flying Star Feng Shui 3.1 If the above are adequate, than, yes, it is best to neutralise the frontage with water position and a wind chime. 3.2 This is because, firstly the alternative of flying to Period 8, NW3 does not seem very good also given that P8, NW3 is not a very g…

Dear Anon, Usually there are two ways of looking at the colour scheme of a bedroom or room:- A simplistic view:- This is by way of checking the family member's ba zi element and strength. For example, if the child or person occupying the bedroom is a weak water person, then the best colour for the bedroom is based on two colours:- 1. Metal (white or gold) 2. Water (blue, black or grey) In the above example, the room can be painted in neutral white. And curtains or bedsheets in blue or say grey, in colour. In a higher dimension of Feng Shui, the Flying star Feng shui is also combined to look at the bedroom. For example, say the person who is staying in the bedroom…

Dear Emily, If your wealth element is Wood, then you must either be a Strong or Weak Metal person. For a weak metal or strong metal person, his/her wealth element has to do with Wood. However, for a weak metal person, one cannot automatically gain wealth from "wood". This is because the weak metal person is too weak at the moment to draw wealth directly from wood. For a weak metal person, it is best to increase one's weak metal with (1st priority = earth element) and secondary adding more metal to metal. What happens if one is a strong Metal person:- Yes, in this case, finding a wood especially a STRONG wood person is good. Since wood is the wealth element of the s…

Dear Anon, 1. Five Elements concept and external facade of the building (or hotel) Under Feng Shui, often a competitor or even a person who wants to build a new home/office complex or any other business could employ a FS practitioner. More often, the FS practitioner will first scan the immediate environment to see what type of building could best be built on the site or plot of land. For example, if the neighbourhood is predominatly or has flat structures or rectangular shaped structures. This represents the earth element. Under the Five elements concept, the FS practitioner could either:- 1. Propose a tall and "thin" structure that is symbolic of a tree or (wood el…
