Dear Kathleen, 1. Frankly, Feng Shui is never meant to be used as a marketing tool. 2. The only think that Feng Shui can help is that if the house has good Feng Shui attributes, and if the buyer can be `convinced' that it has good Feng Shui for them, this would be an added advantage. 3. Some Feng Shui practitioners who use basic or elementary Feng Shui, would suggest one paint the main door Red or pink. To them, they feel that it would hasten the sale of the house. In my opinion, there is no proof that it would work. Worse, as the first impression counts, a red or pink door may even be a turn off for some people. (The rational for pink or red is the belief that red or pi…

Dear Tervino, 1. Eight Aspirations or Eight Associations or Life Associations. It is based on the interpretation of each of the STATIC Kua trigrams into e.g. SW - Romance sector etc... This is similar to the `Black Hat Sect's ' use of STATIC templates. 2. I mentioned in earlier forum messages that the Eight Associations or Life Associations are too generalised to be of any effect in Feng Shui. For example, in earlier messages, I mentioned that if three of us are trying to `woo' a girl. And if we understand the Eight Association concept clearly, we need to ENHANCE our SW sector. Given some imagination, each of us would try to enhance this sector. Perhaps, the three of us h…

Dear Anon, 1. Based on your information, it is presently difficult to `pinpoint' how effective, Feng Shui can do at this time. 2. One think for certain is that: 2.1 Feng Shui can help to `reverse' some of the Earthly Luck of your home. 2.2 As for the office, as you mentioned that your investment is overseas, it is difficult to do Feng Shui by "remote control." Usually, an audit has to be conducted at the office premises. 2.3 As you mentioned that both of you have present jobs, one way is to `enhance' each individual by using the Pillars of Destiny i.e. looking at the element and its strengths. 3. Currently, between (divided) amongst ourselves we are currently helping many…

Dear Marko, 1. One would rarely if ever find Chinese lanterns with symbols of `autumn' or `winter' as symbollically these are not suitable on Red Chinese Lanterns. 2. In fact, symbolism is important in Feng Shui and you can in-fact, use the globe Chinese lanterns (with spring and summer) all year round. And change them when their colour fade-out or their material worn out. Furthermore, red is considered an auspicious colour and can be used all-round the year. And it does not necessarily mean that during different seasons, one may have to change colour e.g. black or white = winter (colour). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Cindy, Lim Cindy wrote: Today, we found a medium sized dark brown bat in our house! We believe its sleeping now. We are afraid that it might be flying around the living room soon in the evening. 1. Frankly, what you had mentioned; is beyond the scope of this General Advice Forum. 2. Either you have to Do it yourself (DIY) or seek expert help. 3. As for DIY, like everyone else; there are lots of concepts to both digest and make use of. And often, it is an uphill task. 4. Under the Holy Trinity of Luck:- 4.1. Heaven Luck = born with 4.2. Earth Luck = Feng Shui of the home and/or office 4.3. Human or man luck = relationship with family members, family support etc.. 5. Feng Shui is not a cure all. And even within Feng Shui: there are things like Shapes and Forms, Flying Star and even ba zi of bread winners in relation to the home etc... Anonymous wrote: Dear C…

1. South is the three killings sector thus avoid any renovations within this sector. 2. If this (South) or any other sectors have; for example flying star numbers like: MS#3 with WS#4 and Base #9, then it would be best to keep that sector "quiet". Thus if one's home and that sector has this then if we need to implement a cure, try not to use "noisy metal like wind chimes etc..." 3. Thus, it is fool-hardy to try to arrange the TV console area each year! Does not make any sense. Especially nowadays, many homes have a feature wall and some even have their TV sets "nailed" to the wall. 4. Thus, if we have fixed our TV sets or unmoveable console, it does not make sense to m…

Dear Han, 1. No it is my opinion, that the two round columns are part of the structure of the building and I feel that it is not `symbolic' of the two objects that can form a triangulation. 2. You would need e.g. two pots of plants on each side (as an example) to use the `triangular effect'. Well, this is based on my personal experience and it may vary with other practitioners on this. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Wasis, Here are some important points with regards to a pair of lions:- 1. Usually Feng Shui practitioners advise the use of lions - if it is for the home, at an inauspicious sector of the house. 2. Where possible the lions should face outwards of the house. 3. Lions placed in the house should not look too fierce or ferocious. They should look `peaceful' and happy. If they look fierce. They must never have their mouths face inside of the house. 4. Lions are used for:- 4.1 Either to ward off evil and /or 4.2 to bring in good luck into the house. 5. The common form of a pair of lions are made of stone. While those made of wood as what you have are often seen on roofs …

Dear JE, A sketch would be good to better understand the situation. However, based on your description: to me it seems ok since: 1. the stairs do not face the main entrance. 2. in Feng Shui, a straight staircase is not that good. But it looks like you mentioned that there are some turns or landing. If so, this is favourable under Feng Shui. To me, your staircase, therefore, don't seem to be a major issue under Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil

These are some of the common notations on your case:- 1. Check your existing name or change of name: Some go to the extend of checking one's existing "Mandarin" name to see if it would help to benefit a person if there is a change of name or not. Here, I have mentioned that if one does not normally use one's "changed" name, then usually, not very practical to do so. For example, if we have a Christian name: of Christina, changing one's mandarin nameoften does not help in any way. Especially if the universal commerce language is English. 2. Under the Five elements concept, Fire fuels earth. Thus, there are varied interpretations such as going for a fire career or hav…

Dear Peck Wun, Usually, in many instances, the auspicious time is based on: 1. phonetic sounding of the numbers. For example, common timing would include:- 8.x8 am where the time has an 8 (in Cantonese `Fatt' or auspiciousness) 8.x9 am where the time has a 9 (9 sounds like longevity). or 9.x8 am or 9.x9am The above timings are nice sounding and also:- 2. They are yang hours of the day. For example, the thing to do is to insert the key into the wooden main door and wait for such a time e.g. 8.28am or 8.29am and then once this is ok, open the door.... If you are moving in the afternoon, avoid moving in after 3.00pm. As this is considered closer to `Yin' timing. …

You wrote: "We have decided to sell this house and go to a new house, due to the above issues and my son has no friends in the current location.what do you suggest? Do you suggest me to sell this house and go to some other house ?" We have to be equally logical about it. The rationale is because, there is no other alternative home to compare with. If the new home turns out well; then it is good. But, what happens if the new (be it new or resale) home has "equal" or worst issues than this? Thus, as it is; this is no other comparison between your existing home vs some other home(s).

Dear Anon, Generally, if one does not want to go further into `Professional Feng Shui' e.g. using the Flying Star to analyse the birth chart of the house: 1. The Main Entrance Door & windows at the frontage of the house The Main Entrance Door is the most important door to be `protected' from poison arrows. Where possible, the edge of a building should not be aimed at the main entrance door. The best `test' is to stand at the main entrance and take alook at the area. There should not be a lone lamp post slicing thru the main door (like a knife slicing through butter) i.e. tangent to it or perpendicular to it. You should also stand inside the house looking out of the wi…

Dear Sophia, Generally, (or very generally), yes, south represents the fire element. To side-track-a-little: And in quite alot of past forum messages, I mentioned that for a kitchen at the south, it is acceptable to have the stove face a water position. This would not be ideal -- if the kitchen is located at the north. (water location). 2. Generally speaking, wood cabinets are in harmony with the kitchen since it has fire (stove) and wood element fuels fire (stove) - in a productive cycle. You can also read up an article, I wrote for the Home Concepts magazine - the article has been extracted to the forum. Do a search perhaps for "home concept" or "home concepts"…
