Dear Susan, Most likely both of you are conscious about the the mirror above your bed. The best is to buy an opaque film, cut out the profile or outline, first. And if you know how to D.I.Y. simply, clean the mirror first, and then add a bit of soap into a spraying bottle, and spray the water onto the mirror. Once done, just paste the film and use a tool e.g. like a credit card or atm card to smooth the surface. (Do remember to use some cloth to collect the spilled water. Covering it with symbols, would often not help if the base (mirror has not being covered up). For the Chinese, the double happiness symbol can be used. But, since from your name, you are not a Chinese, …

Dear Anon, 1. Thank you for bring up such an interesting question. 2. To help everyone understand better, one of this options can be related to a particular Chinese `custom'. 3. Before we go into this question, it is interesting to understand this... 3.1 When the communist took over China, Feng Shui practises were suppressed in that country. Many Chinese fled to two major countries i.e. Taiwan and Hong Kong. (Many more fled to the Far East). 3.2 But it is interesting to note here is that the majority that fled to Taiwan are the Hokkiens from Fukien province. 3.3 While those that fled to Hong Kong are from Canton, the Cantonese. 4. Since, Hong Kong became a British colony…

Dear Ai Ling, In my opinion, this is not so bad as compared to two equal mirrors that totally `split' a person into two. So far, I have yet to come across any major problems with what you had mentioned. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Angela, Please accept our sincere condolence. For next year, you should avoid placing the mirror above the fireplace. Perhaps when you are settled down, we can chat futher. For now take good care of yourself. Wishing you all the best! Warmest Regards, Cecil

As I understand it a mirror in the bedroom is also bad because of the energyflow it may reflect on to the bed while you are sleeping. This I have gotten from master Lam Kam Chuen?s books witch almost i my only source of feng shui knowledge. While the chi energy flow is hard to prove it exist its the closest to a scientific explanation i know (I look quite scientific on feng shui myself).

Dear Chia Doreen, Chia Doreen wrote: Recently I bought a resale flat and its master bedroom has a custom made dressing table with big mirror. I cannot remove this mirror. It's about 45 degrees facingfrom the side of the headboard (above headboard are windows). Since you cannot remove the mirror, then there is very little options that can be suggested even if the mirror is inauspicious. However, based on your diagram. I think it should still be ok. At least it is not located where there is a window directly opposite the mirror which would be worst. The other good thing I can see is at least by having the custom-made dressing table at a 45 degree angle, it at least does…

Dear Sandra, There are two issues here: 1. A mirror facing a window. 2. Whether the wall or the location around the wall is auspicious or inauspicous. Usually, it is best not to have a mirror facing a window. But this depends on how far away the mirror is. The rationale behind this is that if this is the frontage of your house, it is best to allow natural lighting flow into the house. If there are poison arrows outside the house, it would most likely reflect into the house onto the mirror and cause `twice' the problem as a mirror image has been created within the house. If it happens to be an inauspicious sector under Flying Star analysis, you will bounce back twice the `…

Dear Norman, Norman Leonor wrote: I have a mirror 4feet by 4 1/2 feet standing infront my stairs upstairs.. Does this mirror have any effect on us and for the good chi or bad chi? Generally, it is not a good idea to have a mirror just at the stairs, simply because it can be a shock for people to see themselves when theyreach the top. Especially for those who are not aware that it is there. Furthermore, mirror if placed in bad sector, can sometimes bounce/create twice the bad luck. Hope that helps. Dear Beverly, Firstly. you need to determine what type of mirror that your neighbour had placed on their door. This would determine the type of action or non action that you should take. Some mirrors are used for specific reasons or a combnation of reasons: 1. Concave mirror This is used often facing outwards of a missing corner to suck wealth. Thus. is considered one of the worst type to face a neighbor's home. 2. Convex mirror To deflect sha qi (poison arrows) or main door faces a sloping staircase 3. Othe types Flat mirror with or without ba gua trigram surrounding it. Concave or convex with ba gua trigram. Or door twin gods and or Qilin etc.. Try to find ou…

Dear Zarminae, Under the url below:- http://www.geomancy.net/polls/ You will find an interesting survey: " Are you comfortable sleeping facing a TV set (mirror)? A short simple 3 questions survey. " In the survey, it is interesting to find that many people feel that mirrors facing the bed may not be an issue. The test here is that if you feel comfortable despite the position of the mirror in your bedroom this is acceptable. But if you feel uncomfortable especially after waking up the next morning, then... it is best to re-site the mirror. Therefore, this would have to depend on a case-by-case basis. Warmest Regards, Cecil

I am planning to put a big mirror measuring approximately 36x36 as part of a dresser table in my daughter's bedroom. The mirror will be hanging ona wall opposite the bathroom door. I read that this is not good. Our bathroom has clothes cabinet inside and not just the toilet. When the bathroom door is open, it will show the cabinet first.Turn right a little, beside the cabinet, will be the sink. And beside the sink is the toilet. So the toilet is a little further away from the bathroom door. Will it be ok to hang a mirror opposite the bathroom door? Thank you so much for any advice you can give me. By the way, the mirror will be on the same wall as the headboard of the bed…

Dear Ingrida, In most cases, I personally feel that it is not advisable to have a mirror facing the bedroom door, for two reasons: 1. A mirror may be a double-edged sword. Without proper investigation, we do not know whether it is placed in a good, bad, or inauspicious sector. If it is an inauspicious sector, it is believed that the mirror can reflect and double the bad luck. 2. This is also based on a common belief. When we ask most Feng Shui practitioners, the consistent answer is that it is bad to have a mirror facing any part of the bed. It is believed that when a person sleeps, his spirit leaves the body. What about a mirror facing the bedroom do…

Further to what I had mentioned, since it is close to the next period, do wait for next year's analysis to see if a further set of six coins is needed. Or else, do let me know e.g. via private e-mail, what is your Flying star sector. And I can advise you to leave it on or not necessarily to place it on for the next year. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anamika, 1. Some of us are more sensitive than others with regards to the placement of a mirror facing the bed. 2. If the mirror is not facing any part of the bed (of the bedroom) then this is still considered OK. 3. If there is an attached bathroom in the master bedroom, a side table with a reading lamp can be used to act symbolically to shield the bed from the bathroom (door). 4. As mentioned by you; for mirrors, if it is placed in the bathroom door, it should preferably be placed on the inside of the toilet door (facing the bathroom) and not on the door facing the bedroom. 5. In my opinion, it is not compulsory to place a mirror on the inside of a toilet door fo…

Dear Julie, Frankly, there are two considerations here:- 1. Mirrors at staircase landings need not necessarily be bad. One school of thought here is that a mirror at this location can help to `move' Qi up or down the stairs. 2. Another consideration is that a mirror at the wrong wall or sector can bounce back twice the bad luck. Undera Para 2, if one is not sure, one should not place a mirror on the stair-case landing. 3. In your question, you mentioned that a mirror is facing the stairs, frankly, this is more of a "commonsense approach". Or we can say that this is more of a commonsense type of `Feng Shui'. 3.1 Here, it may become inauspicious because, sometimes we do get…

1. In my opinion, overall, this can be called an in-exact science (or rather art). 2. This is because of time-dimensions of the Flying Star Feng Shui. 3. Based on the concept of averages; even if one placed a mirror at the so called auspicious sector and or reflecting or bounce back whatever; over time (the longer the time) thegreater it averages out. 4. Under Flying Star, there is the 20 Year average chart, there is the Yearly chart, there is the universe where the month, the day and even the hour influence. 5. Thus, even if it is located at a good sector, somehow, it will "move" from auspicious to inauspicious sector: then how? You mean you will have to cover the mirr…

Dear Anon, In my opinion, often, this type of an issue has more to do with the "commonsense approach" than Feng Shui. The rationale has to do with our "individual" sensitivity level. Some of us are very sensitive to our environment. And "any moving object" can scare some, while no issue with others. Or if one is in "deep thoughts". For example, imagine a person in deep thoughts, walking down the steps of stairs, some people may "suddenly" realise a figure down below at the steps. But frankly, this is a poor excuse, given that often if the mirror is not a whole piece, we humans can easily identify that it is ourselves. (Without adding insult to injury). In the disc…

1. Please check out this link (3 of 3 articles and graphics) on the rationale of having a certain number of mirrors:- http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=29&mid=10857&new= 2. Please note that having say one piece or three piece(s) of mirror are considere "nice-to-have" and not a "must-have". Quote: Hella R. wrote: Hi! I recently started to redecorate our house, and try to go after the feng shui guidelines. My front door face north-east, and the wall next the door is east. I thought I want to put a nice mirror there, but I didn't had enough money for the one I really wanted, so my friends suggested the tile mirrors, which sounded good. I…

Dear Anon, Usually, the living room should have `clear space'. But what you mentioned may not necessarily mean that your home may not be auspicious. Perhaps, you have to look at your entire house layout rather than base the assessment solely on the door opening... Overall, even if the main door does not have clear space, we can use this to be the direction of the main door but consider other aspects such as the location where light comes in the `brightest' into the home. What you need to do is to see that this location e.g. the living room has clear space within the living room (if possible). Frankly, there is really no `harm' in using mirror(s) as many FS practitioners …

Dear Cc, It depends! There is certainly no universal approach here. In fact, FS practitioners would respond by saying that it depends on the sector:- 1. Yin and Yang balance If the place is kinda dark, e.g. west facing, then a mirror (may) help here. This is based more on intuition or personal feelings. 2. Based on Feng Shui rulesets It is the common understanding that a bad sector may bounce back twice the bad luck. For example, under the Flying Star Theory, if a particular sector is inauspicious or especially if the sector is not properly cured. E.g. sickness sector or misfortune. Then, it could imply that one could inadvertently; a mirror at that specific location may …

Dear Laura, Usually, the only issues with mirror is that it can bounce luck out. So if you place mirror directly where the window is, you actually bounce the Qi out before it have the opportunity to circulate into the home. As for what are the tips available, each home is quite unique, so quite difficult to tell you what you should be doing to maximise the arrangemet of your furniture. The best tip I can advice, is make use of our free online reports such as the Ba Zi (element), Eight House. Ba Zi report - can tell you what elements you lack, so this can give you some idea what colours are good for each room etc. Eight House - can help you arrange the bed posit…
