1. When applying authentic Traditional Feng Shui, and if you are strictly applying Compass School Feng Shui, then you should be using the "magnetic compass". 2. Not to complicate things, for example near the equator, the magnetic north is nearly equal to the geographic north. Even in other areas, there is a slight deviation, only. 3. As mentioned under Para 1, above, authentic Traditional Compass School Feng Shui, is where, as you had given an example, your frontage should be and is North not South, while the South is the back of the home. This is particuarly so, if you are TAKING a reading using a normal compass (or regular compass). 4. Not to be confused with the Chi…

Dear Master Cecil, I started reading about Feng Shui after I bought my flat. Since it is a done deal, I'll like to present my layout as a case study for learning. I have attached a picture of the layout and some placement of screens and furniture. I was borned in 1975 and my kua number is 7. My wife is borned in 1977 and kua number is 9. Will appreciate your advise on the following. 1. Is my way of locating the centre of the house correct correct? 2. There is a major missing corner as indicated by the RED circle. Is this a major poison arrow? How can I remedy this? 3. The bathroom is very near the centre of the house and the main entrance. Is my interpretation correct? Is…

Dear Joan, 1. Usually, flooring of this nature has more to do with the ideal of "Health" and "Relationship" or whatever. 2. Often, parquet with or without it being considered good or bad, is much favoured then hard cool floor tile. This is because, wood is a very poor conductor. And the ideal here is that for those who sleep on the floor (floor mat), or if one just wake up and step on the floor tile it is not cold as compared to ceramic floor tile. 3. Therefore, for the Chinese, the parquet flooring is preferred in a bedroom condition. *joke* Hopefullly, the home is never near termite infested area else it is pure enjoyment for the termites. 4. For relationship, there ar…

Dear Karen, This has more to with commonsense than feng shui. For example, here one would certainly wish that they stay in a concrete reinforce-cement home. This is because when the washing machine spins it does shake. If one house is made of wooden planks or thin gypsum wooden walls, then sometimes the washing machine may vibrate and this vibration can be felt at the opposite wall plus the noise can be heard. So the only solution is try to place the washing machine too close to the wall. Not much else you can do unless there is space elsewhere that you can relocate your washing machine. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Dear Anon, Usually, the Japanese Lucky cats figurines with their hands raised on either side is often used by business, both Chinese and Japanese establishment especially food eatery. There should not be a problem displaying these `lucky' cats at home. Figurines to avoid include ferocious animals that look hungry or on the prowl. Or animals with hands outstreched and `empty handed.' Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Mary, Please see below:- I very happy to learn that you have enjoyed this site ... for the last two years. Your words of encouragement will spur us to work harder to continously improve on the site. If you have used the binding element report, the suggested cure is metal. What this means is that where both parties are i.e. especially your bedroom or the living room, you can make more use of `metal' element to bind both parties closer. If we evaluate why the binding element `metal' is useful, we can look at it this way: 1. Metal helps your husband's weak water to grow. 2. Metal, has no ill effects on your Strong Earth element. Metal element is neutral to your …

Dear Anon, Generally, dragons are considered the most Yang of all the Chinese zodiac animals. But usually, what we have are simply figurines and there is certainly "no danger" keeping them in the South. For example if you have a display shelf, and you place a dragon in it. However, were possible as dragons `need space' it is best that they be placed facing clear space and looking out of the house or window. This is just a belief (only). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jose, Unfortunately, " Feng Shui " has been highly commercialised and this gives it a really bad " after-taste " or bad reputation. I can quite understand that many people have purchased books or even convinced that they must buy, buy and buy commercialised items "in-exchange" for better luck .... But after-a-while, after having seen no results and yet money gets drained off; many of us would go into dispair and may end up worse - in a vicious cycle of poor finances which affect family relationships etc... The concept of buy, buy, buy and place, place, place may sometimes create more problems also. As the saying goes " Rome was not built in a day". Similarly to unde…

Dear Tammy, 1. Under the FS concept, "if one can no longer see the threat, it no longer becomes a threat." 2. In your situation: 2.1. The most effective method is to protect the bedroom windows e.g. use a curtain or blind. 2.2. The other method is to plant trees behind the house such that it will block the view of the power cables. (But this may not be feasible or it may take time). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Could you please tell me what is the 8 aspirations chart report, 8 house report and yearly flying star for? and I would like to know which report takes priority when I use it. The order of important is as follows:- 1) Flying Star is to assess the luck of your home using a mathematical formula. This tells you where is your illness/misfortune stars and even where is your wealth star. Any inauspicious star has to be neturalised while any wealth star should be activated. So you need to correct this irregardless of whether a room is suitable to a person or not. 2) Eight House is to tell you whether a house suits you or not, or whether there is a…

dear Jen, 1. If there is no boundary and the entire piece of land seamlessly looks like merging with the entire area, than, this is far better off! Than, purposely demarcating boundary. Where, it will clearly show as a truly odd shaped piece of land. 2. Generally, we should not be too fearful of odd shaped piece of land. Unless often it affects the drainage of the land. 3. Overall, after reading your note, I do feel sad, not because of your land but the fact that I live in a country that not only must one have a fence but it has to be relatively high or prevent unauthorised people coming into it. 4. In Asia, and especially in Singapore the norm for a landed property home…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: My sons' bedroom falls in the spooky area of the house. How to counter this problem? Should I paint the bedroom with their suitable bright color? Can they still sleep in this room even though it is not their ideal place to sleep? My eldest son's ideal placeshould beour master bedroom while youngest is my husband's ideal study room. Hope to hear from you soon, thanks. You cannot correct a suitablity problem. A suitability sector is for you to assess whether it is good for a person to make use of that room or not. So you can only opt to use or not to use it if it is really bad. Spook and Irritation are not as bad as death or disaster sector. …

Thank you, Cecil. I totally understand the need to have a full audit of Feng Shui. In fact, in the midst of finding another flat. Was hoping some simple basic actions to help first so that I can "keep" enough money for your services etc. Am still in debt..sigh..

Dear Anon, If the table is within a cubicle, then this is fine. It is also good that your table is `supported' at either side or by a partition. So long as the pillar is not pointed at an angle to your table, this is acceptable. In an office environment, because of constraints, one may have to live with it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Some practitioners may consider the apartment asSE facing because the main entrance is located facing SE. If so, since SE facing is wood, it is not suitable for a Strong Fire person. On the other hand, the alternative view is that it can be SW facing i.e. earth element. Thus, would be suitable to a Strong Fire person. Usually, without an onsite visit, I believe many traditionalist practitioners would consider your apartment as a SE facing one as the defacto facing direction of the apartment. Often, a more accurate assessment is needed e.g. onsite to view the surrounding buildings, garden, open space and to locate the qi flow coming towards the unit either…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: We generated the personal monthly analysis report and realised that most days were bad and very bad. This will always be the case.A person's luck will constantly change up and down from time to time. You should remember that when we analyse day to day, the goal is to identify which days are best within the entire month. Same goes, when you check which month is better within the year, or which year is better within the 10-year luck. There will be ups and down from time to time. When a Year is good, that means that no matter how bad the month is, it will be considered the least auspicious month. While, when a year is abd, that means that the w…

1.As a strong fire person; your good elements are: earth, metal and water. 2. Your wealth element is metal. This type of career is suppose to lead to greater wealth. 3. Your power and authority is water. Thus a career associated with water is considered favourable for you. Can reach higher position of authority.

Usually, the Flying Star number(s) of a sector is analysed. However, if this is not done; then try to go for neutral colours like beige (cream),grey orbrown or mostly pastel colours. For bright colours like RED, BRIGHT YELLOW or GREEN; if not sure try to stay clear of these - if possible.

Dear Anon, If the pair of hands are stretched out in a `receiving' position, it would not be `auspcicious' unless the hands hold something. A pair of `empty' hands symbolises e.g. begging, and if they are really in this `position' then, best not to display it at all. Thus as you have not exactly described what posture it is, the above are my immediate comments. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Janice, The 6 coin cure is related to the assessment done under the Flying Star Feng Shui. Here, 6 coins represent `Big metal' or strong metal element. It is used to `destroy' or `neutralise' bad numbers under the Flying Star numerology. As this cure involves the Five elements concept, you may have to first read up or understand the Five elements concept first. Before, progressing to understand how the Flying Star Feng Shui can help you. My advise is to take your time to understand the various concepts in particular:- 1. What is the purpose of each concept. 2. What are it's strengths and weakness. 3. How to apply them effectively. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jisun, You can use this manual method to check your actual Western to Lunar calendar:- http://www.lovesigns.net/astrology/ayear/a60-80.htm This in general, if you are born on or between 2 Feb 1965 to 20 Jan 1966 under the Chinese zodiac, you are considered as a Wood-Snake But if you are born on or between 21 Jan 1966 to 8 Feb 1967 you are considered as a Fire-Horse. You can also make use of the free reports at http://www.geomancy-online.com to generate your correct lunar chart by simply keying-in or input your Western date of birth. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. Please note that generally, if one is looking at only the Chinese zodiac signs, often, many books written in…

1. The good news is that such things as Pi Xie are modern commercial products. 2. The only purpose is to enrich the seller. Often, it is the same Feng Shui master that sells these products in the name of Feng Shui. 3. You can find out more of such commercial products under this URL:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Commercial_Products 4. In fact, the only real Feng Shui product has to be this special ring! http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=29&mid=23346&new= 5. These are purely modern commercial products and should be treated equally as what one does with interior decorative items. What happens when we broke a piece of an interior de…
