Dear Maggie, In my opinion, numerology is very diverse - and subject to so many interpretations. For example, for some, number 13 is an unlucky number. But for others, it is ok. If one is in Hong Kong or Guandong China; then one may meet up lots of Cantonese dialect group. Here, the spoken phonetic word for number 4 literally translated as `die'. But if you are in Singapore, most likely, this is less of an issue, since the majority dialect group is made up mostly of Hokkiens who come from Fujian Provience in China. In fact, I have come across so many Singaporeans that has house number 4 or 44 or 444. Car number plates with 4444 etc.. and even phone numbers with such numb…

Dear Wilson, The day of the Heavenly Stem is the stem which determines your ba zi element. It will not change under any combination. ie. if the Heavenly Stem is Wood, but a combination between Day and Month changes both element of the Day and Month to Fire, your birth element is still Wood. However, how weak or strong your Wood is will be affected by the various changes in the five element that are found in your chart. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Thank you Cecil for sharing your thoughts on this matter. I am in total agreement with you. Far too many people believe feng shui is the magic bullet for all their "ills". When I tell them this, some can get quite annoyed ! And usually these are the people that have got themselves into a mess. Sadly in this day and age we all seem to want instant gratification. Cheers Glyn

Dear Ellen, The Kallang River canal seems to be slicing into the area where Blk 124 and the Macpherson constituency building makes this block so, so. Better unit is opposite of the canal. Since you mentioned that the canal will be covered, this is better. Since this is a point-block, where qi can flow all round it, this is a plus point. Overall, I would say that it is an `average' site. (However, still in general ok.) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Master Cecil, I just started to learn Feng Shui 2 weeks ago. It is so interesting to me. I am eager to learn everything. We are going to move into a new house soon. The house is facing North and sitting South. I checked out Eight direction for me and my husband. My husband is a North East person (was born 09/1965) and I am a South West person ( was born 12/1969). Our main entrance is in Spook and Death sectors. I was shake. I do not know what to do? Question 2 is about Fish Tank. Where should I put it ? Will be good in the excellent and prosperity sectors ? Or other sectors ? Question 3 is about Wind Chime. I bought a big, nice metal Wind Chime few years ago. I woul…

Dear Jen, Let's take alook at commonsense approach to Feng Shui. Often, the most convenient place to walk in and out of various rooms is a passage-way. Here, imagine a passage way (or clear space at the centrepoint of the home). In better Feng Shui homes, this corridor or area is the `flux' or centrepoint of a home. A low set of sofa furniture is still ok, since, it represents clear space i.e. nothing at this `centrepoint' that is as high as a wall. Please note that it does not necessary mean that all homes must have clear space here. It depends. What is not so favourable are locations like: a toilet / toilet bowl and a kitchen's stove etc... Under commonsense approach t…

Dear Anon, 1. Yes, washing machines should be considered as a water position. 1.1. Especially front loading washing machines that has a circular glass pothole. 1.2. Thus it is less than ideal for this glass pothole to face the stove. 2. In addition, water pipe is used to draw in water into it at the back and the output of dirty water is also produced. 3. A microwave is (contrary) to popular belief - belongs to the metal element. Since, it's energy is concentrated inwards. Fire is not used to conduct this energy but instead microwave (metal) element is used to disturb the molecules to cook them. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Richard, Please see below:- In authentic heaven and earth luck assessment, here are the main considerations: 1. It would be a disadvantage for a weak fire or strong water person especially the breadwinner to have a water position inside his / her home. 2. In authentic Feng Shui; the true `meaning' or the closest to a wealth corner for a water position is thru the application of Flying Star Feng Shui. For example, locations that have #6 or #7 and if the condition - is applicable; can exist with water position. Often, and depending on the Managing Agents or later, the MCST; such areas are common property. And, some condos have strict rules on placing anything a…

Further to what I had mentioned; United Overseas Land Limited associated project was this condo - The Eden Executive Condominium. Name: The Eden Type: Executive Condominium Location: TAMPINES ST 34 Total No of Units: 430 TOP Date: May 2003 (in batches) Tenure: 99 years w.e.f 12/9/2000 In my opinion, this developer is lesser known because it develops fewer residential projects than the Hong Leong Group and it's subsidiary City Developments Limited (CDL) and Far East Organisation put together. Some of United Overseas Land's recent projects include The Sunshine, Moulmein and Country Park. The url is as follows:- http://203.126.226.234/uol/residential.htm In my opinion, …

Dear Reyla, 1. How long have you been staying in this house? 2. Are you facing financial distress? 3. Overall, there are two major Shapes and Forms `handicap' for this home: 3.1 Please refer to marking `A'. ================================ In addition to the toilet at the centrepoint of the home; another further problem is that the centrepoint or the centre-of-gravity for this home does not have clear space. Here, qi from all areas of the home cannot congregate or meander at this centrepoint or `flux'. Often, if one stays in such a home for more than 2 or 3 years, one can feel the impact of financial problems. Since qi cannot effectively flow `about' in all directions. 3.…

Dear Cecil, Thanks a lot for your generous assistance. I did go through the old forum messages and you did mention is better not to concern on number of goldfishes to prevent the trouble of replacing if any of the fishes die. Actually I don't understand what is Flying Star Feng Shui but somehow number 8 is still one of the best numbers. I'll add in another 4 little goldfishes then. Thank you once again. rgds, Stanley

Dear Peck Wun, 1. I hope you can understand that there are alreay available resources on this. Plus, there are lots of examples and even actual cases of how centrepoint was derived in attachments by uses. 2. For a lay person who wants to understand better, then go to this resource: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm Look at the example of how, one can copy the layout; glue it on a cardboard, cut-it out and try to balance it on a pin. The centrepoint is all about: the centre of graivty. This is particularly possible if the house has lots of indents. But if the house is `L' shaped, then divide the home into two or more rectangles. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear All, Looks like there is another Feng Shui Emporium to choose from...(This one is from China) I like to emphasise that Geomancy.net is a Professional Consultancy site and from day 1 does not believe in selling any physical products. It is our strong belief that selling such things can *cloud* one's mind or specifically - have a conflict of interest in our professional service. Nowadays, it is interesting to see that there are more competition in the sale of commercial products. And this spells good for those who are interested in all things Chinese. For those who want to obtain things like Chinese ancient coins or wind chimes can do a SEARCH at http://www.yahoo.com …

Dear Wilson, Thank you for bringing up a very interesting question. 1. It is often highly mistaken by many in the west to associate the Chinese system of divinity, four pillars and Feng Shui with ACTUAL seasons. (When I mention the Chinese system - it should encompass those mentioned under Para 1) 2. For example, 6 years ago, some Feng Shui practitioners in Australia wanted to bring in a new brand of Feng Shui. For example, reversing the Ba Gua system etc... 3. But all these can easily be refuted as the Chinese system can withstand all these criticisms or new fad ideas. 4. Many of the Chinese system are: 4.1. highly symbolic 4.2. the lowest common denominator is the Five …

Dear Wilson, Please below:- ?h When such a combination between different Heavenly Stem (Hour, Month, Year, Life or Conception) combines with the Heaven Stem (day), will depend on whether it is a Joint or a Full combination. A Full Combination will change the element of the stem for both pillars to the new element. While a Join will not affect any change of the element for both pillars. However, the change of element say the Day and Hour pillar change from Wood to Fire. Does not change the Birth element of a person. ie Weak Wood does not change to Weak Fire because of the combination. The combination will simply remove Wood from his chart making him weaker. ?h How …

Dear Cecil, What do you think about the birth time of the house? Does the house belong to periode 6 or 7? Btw, we have red pavement in the frontage (North). In fact, the majority of the frontage is red colored. Does it matter? Thanks in advance. Dear Anon, Please see below:- To clarify, I hope I get you correctly. Do you mean to say that there is a window at the 2nd storey landing? Often, this is acceptable (in terms of bringing in or filtering) in light into the area. Usually, if there is a window, often, up to waist height should be fixed / permanent and either a casement or swing up window is acceptable. If the window is not fixed below; it may be a safety issue for young children. Personally, I do not see this as an issue; if what you mentioned seems that way. If the mirror is quite a distance away; often this is not an issue. By any chance do you have pointed gate or any objects pointed towards the …

Dear Reyla, Oh so sorry, what I meant was that the repainting should be done at one-go. This is symbolic of removing the roof of a home at one-go. Therefore, choose a date to start this process. For example, one can seek temporary shelter e.g. move-in with a relative or stay at a hotel for a few days or week; depending on the work required and contract with the painter; one need not worry how long it takes, here. Painting should take a reasonable time (more for your convenience). It does not mean here, that one must paint the ceiling a few times! But rather at one-go after 2004 lunar new year. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jumin, 1. Please refer to the destructive cycle chart under the Five elements concept: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm 2. Let's take a simple example:- 2.1 Case 1 : A Strong Metal person ================================== If one looks at the chart carefully; Metal destroys Wood. Here, imagine that one has a strong metal implement and a block of wood. In the hands of a scupture; this block of wood that costs a few dollars can be transformed into an object of art. Here, this piece of wood is worth much more. For example, cheap labour in China can convert this simple block of wood into a three-legged toad figurine. Where the block of wood cost…

Dear Gordon, If you live in a domitory or short of space e.g. a rented room, frankly, there is really no issue in this. Look at it this way, many educated people have lived in domitories and were successful after their studies. More... Some Feng Shui practitioners, I understand, are against this, because they were afraid that qi cannot flow underneath a bed. But, there are many families who allow their young ones e.g. age between 1 to 5 years old - to sleep on a mattress on the floor. And in many cultures, often, people sleep on the floor or floor mat. And there are no adverse problems. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, From my personal experience, it is not good to hang a wind chime with various `elements'. For example, it is still better to hang a wind chime that has no more than two elements: Example: A wind chime that has a wood clinger and a wooden `roof' combined with say hollow alluminium/metal rods is still OK. But as you had described, the wind chime that may have several elements e.g. silvery green, if dolphins are blue etc... This year, for a period 7 house, North seems a pretty bad location for most homes. Given this situation, a wind chime at North (can still be considered) unless, one has a huge open field and close to a `dirty' temple. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Kenny, 1. Thank you for the link. I have already checked out the two designs. 2. If you look at the attachment (Source and credit to: HDB), one can find that both units does not have toilet(s) at the centrepoint. Other comments: Blk 297B Compassvale Street #02-24 ================================== Under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui: 1. It is not as auspicious to have the main door (face) the dining table. 1.1 This is more of a commonsense approach in Feng Shui. 1.2 The rationale is because often, in many homes, the dining table is often cluttered with food e.g. bread and since not all family members return home at the same time, food is often left on the table. The di…
