Dear Sang Lee, When you are using the ordinary compass, the method is the same for both direction taking of a landed property or an apartment/flat/condominium unit:- Reference:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm Mechanics of how to can be found under this url:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm where you can find helpful step-by-step approach in gettting a copy of the layout plan, and using e.g. a transparency to superimpose on the layout plan the North - South direction. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi Mike, For everyone, there are will be an Eight House direction and Ba Zi element direction. For some directions, Eight House may say North is Excellent while Ba Zi may be weak Fire so North (Water) is unfavourable. If you encounter such as similiar situation, then North isn't the best overall direction to choose from, compared to say a Health direction with favourable element ie South (for weak fire person). Where two reports tells you it is auspicious, this would be considered the best overal direction. TheBa Zi and Eight House reports can only give you a guide as to which directions are better for you. As to whether or not you can make it, will depend a lot on yo…

Dear Derek, If you are taking the compass direction of your unit's main entrance door, this should usually be the door to your unit i.e. as you had mentioned it should be the `North'. Usually, taking the exterior door direction is meant more for analysing e.g. a building rather than the unit itself. If you still require help, you can upload a sketch of the layout for my comments. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Kenny, Overall, perhaps, the observations made may be `coincidental' unless further analysis is done e.g. using the Flying Star to analyse each sector i.e. NE or South in detail. It also depends on the built-up of the home i.e. the building in relation to wind movement. This is also affected by surrounding buildings (wind blowing from different directions and the high and low pressure points of the location. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Brenda, 1. From my personal experience, it may not be `worth' the while charting a small mobile home using the Compass School Feng Shui. 2. I hope you do not get me wrong but, for such a `confined' space, dividing the mobile home into e.g. 8 sectors or even 24 sectors may not be feasible as all sectors seems too close to each other. 3. More importantly, one should based the assessment using Shapes and Form School i.e. in particular: looking at the Landscape and the site. 4. For the interior, stand at the main entrance of the mobile (looking outwards) for any visible threats e.g. a lone lamp post slicing the entrance. Use the same method for each of the windows. 5. Fo…

Dear Glenetta, The closest to the definition to a wealth pot is thru the use of Flying Star Feng Shui. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, one should locate the mountain star MS #8. Where appropriate, this should be the mountain wealth position i.e. which represents relationship and lottery luck. Erh, in-case, if one is totally new and never heard of Flying Star Feng Shui, then, it is best for the person to do more research into this Compass School topic. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Joanne, Joanne Yang wrote: Hi, my dining room andmother-in-law's roomhas #2 and #5. Dining room is 5m 2w 6b, MIL's room is 2m 5w 9b. What cures to use? My MIL's element is strong water. Can these two areas still be used for their purpose as dining and bedroom? or do we need to move out of these areas?? Btw, mine is period 8 house. Thanks many!!! Dinning room stars not as bad as there is star 6 to exhaust or control the Strong Earth. However, it still good to have more Metal (white/gold) to enhaust the strong Earth. Even some Water element (blue/black/gray) will be good as it helps to create more wealth in that sector and create a Earth - Having bad stars does n…

Here is the second floorplan in question. As you see, in this image the flying stars are brought straight up from the second floorplan. But if the get 'squeezed' to fit the second floor then things change dramatically - placing the 2-5 combo in the bathroom/closet area instead of the bedroom which may be more suitable for my girls. Thank you,

Dear Ingrid, In my opinion, it is difficult to apply Feng Shui to small spaces. The rationale is because Feng Shui of the home is also about `earth luck'. And a small room does not constitute a large portion of `earth luck'. The focus in your situation is that so long as you try to keep your room under: 1. Favourable shapes and form Feng Shui e.g. positioning of your bed. 2. Whether your personal space should be more Yin or more Yang or at times more Yin or more Yang. For example, for those who are working and come home to rest, the room should preferably be more yin (state of rest) than yang. While for a student, it should be more yang... to encourage the person to st…

Dear Sheridan, For example, if you are a strong Wood, then the few colours that are good for you are based on your favourable elements. Favaourable Colours for strong Wood is Fire and Metal, so colours are red, white / gold. For example. So you have to use the Pillars of Destiny report in the My FengShui website (http://login.geomancy.net) to help you determine your true birth element. Well, few things you can do. Using the Eight House Report where you will determine all your 4 good and 4 bad directions try to face in the directions which are your 4 good directions. This will bring you good luck especially if you can face in your Prosperity or Excellent direction.…

Dear Robert, A homeless would often also need to have a place of rest or sleep. The greatest influence on a homeless has more to do with his immediate surroundings or the Feng Shui of his surroundings. The first basic premise of Feng Shui is that a shelter should be away from the rain or if possible higher (in case of flooding) etc.. Other than the above, man or human factors would feature more prominently in his/her life. This may be his/her motivation or non-motivation in life, physical and mental strength to take this kind of life. Hopefully, the next question asked will not be: How can Feng Shui affect an alien (or ET). Hmm.... let's hope no one posts such a ques…

Dear Anon, This really depends on a few factors:- 1. If it is a home/office built anytime after 2004, it will automatically be a period 8 house. 2. For houses built in period 7, it will remain a period 7 house until a major renovation is done to convert it. Please note, that a major renovation typically means changing of the house structure by knocking down some wall etc. Such renovation will take effect amost immediately. Most other renovations that are less major (ie painting of wall etc), or morelike repair work typically are not enough to constitute a major renovation, so it may or may not change depends on how much works are done. Most of the luck from home com…

Dear George, 1. It is difficult to say for sure that, removing some of the toilets and leaving a few behind would help the situation. It can be tried but not sure, if it would work as there are still toilets at the centrepoint of the house. 2. One `idea' of using rocks is to create more `Yang' as rocks or stones are considered Yang objects. If you read it from a book and you can give a try. In general, other alternatives like keeping the toilet bright and clean is a better option. Dear Susan, In Traditional Feng Shui, the main door is the door where one usually have the house unit/number on the door. If you are constantly using the garage door, one can use the Compass School of Feng Shui i.e. either or both : Eight House Theory or Flying Star analysis to check which door is more favourable i.e. the garage door or the main entrance door to use. In such instances, one may add a unit no. to the garage door. I cannot provide any comments on the Bagua template as this usually refers to the `Black Hat Sect' and this form of Feng Shui is not recognised nor effective method. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Gayle, 1. Basically, the Eight House theory or East/West group of persons are but just one of the several concepts in Feng Shui. 2. Overall, one can say that this theory looks at: 2.1 how suitable the house is to e.g. the breadwinner. 2.2 Other areas that can be looked at is the intangible force at the bedroom location. 3. In my opinion, this concept or theory does not really have a `cure' for the above situation. This should normally not worry anyone - yet. 4. Foremost, we should look closely that an important consideration i.e. Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. If you site and home has good feng shui, or even to `excellent' status, then, the Eight House is just a small f…

Hi Anon, Nntp Guest wrote: My boss upon seeking their master's advice, put a 6ft tall plant outside my room. According to my colleague, this is to prevent the person in that room (i.e. now its me) to leave the company. This means that I am stuck with this company whether I like it or not. And I have been feeling uncomfortable since the plant was placed outside my room. Is there a way to counter this and make me feel better working in that room? As you are only an employee in the office, it is difficult for you to put or suggest removal of the plant. So probably only thing you can do is attempt to add Metal to balance the plant. One suggest would be to have a 6 coins wit…

Dear Gray Thay, Gary Thay wrote: I brought HDB unit in period 7 and I painted all the Ceiling in 2004, does that put my unit into Period 8 ? The problem here is that painting all the ceiling is only a symbolic action in order to attempt to emulate a major renovation of removing the roof of a house. So itisn't truly a major renovation. So it will take time (sometimes 1 year) for your house Qito convert to the period 8. Usually, if you want to expedite the change, you may need to have a few major celebrations in the house to attempt to quicken the change over to the new period. Hope that helps. Dear Kate, Usually, it would be best to close the toilet door when not in use and keep the location bright and dry. (Thus keeping it more Yang than Yin). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear CindyLu, Quote: I've always wondered if feng shui helps people struggling with weight loss/gain. Would this just be associated with the general health star? or does this not have significance in flying star? Please understand that Feng Shui is no mircle cure for all problems. Health / Relationships are two of the areas which Feng Shui has least influence or effect. Health is best to always seek Medical advice from doctors. To excercise to improve your health and maintain healthy diet. Relationship depends on two person's willingness to give in to each other. So if you understand this, you will know that there is no way that Feng Shui can fully have an impact ove…

1. Definitely, one has to use the most accurate birth date or our "real birthdate". Frankly, after so many years, in this line, I have yet to come across, such an (obvious) question. 2. Frankly, this is very common; especially in the past: Singapore, Malaysia and many other countries. Many elderly said that they were born on such and such a date. But, as they live in rural area, their birth was registered e.g. at a police post a few days or even months. Quote: Katrina L. wrote: According to my mom, her real birthdate is January 11, 1939 BUT her birth certificate was burned along with other birth certificates in the city hall of her province. 1. For info, usually for a professional Feng Shui audit; the first priority is to review the Ba zi of the Home (using Flying Star) and then it is nice to have say the individual rooms that suits the elements of say the person staying inside that room. 2.Suunto Compass Sorry, you had posted this question, and during the transition to a new server, that message was accidentally - erased. You can find the resources on it, here:- http://www.geomancy.net/wiki/Using_a_Compass_%26_Protractor
