Dear Master, The mountain star of my house falls in the bedroom at NW sector where there is a window. So, I have installed a blind to cover the window. And this is the only window in the bedroom. Please confirm if this is correct.Does that mean this window needs to remian close all the time? And in order to invite in fresh air, can I just turn on the aircon in this room and open the bedroom door for a while to let the stale air out everyday? Thanks!

Dear Ramaa, In my opinion, every location is a `wealth sector'. And it is important to know what is good or bad at this sector. If one uses Compass School (Flying Star) Feng Shui, each sector has three elements. And depending on a sector and location, we can either try to neutralise a sector (if it has bad stars) or enhance the sector. For example, if a sector has bad stars such as #5 or #2, then we try to neutralise these elements if they create an imbalance at that sector. If a double 7 is found at the main door. 7 represents metal. And since this is the frontage of the house; we can further enhance this metal sector by introducing e.g. a water feature say at the garde…

Dear Sandra, Usually this is not an issue especially if there is a gap or distance between the stove and the sink. Usually, the further the distance the better. But sometimes as low as 6 inch gap is -- if space constraints, is still acceptable. For more information about the stove, I have added the article that appeared in the magazine "Home Concepts" on the stove. I believe, it will make interesting reading. (This article was posted, just yesterday). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Cindy, CindyLu Who wrote: Hello, I have moved into a new home, it's Period 7 house (S2) and have brought many plants with me. My living room areas are the S & SW, kitchen is N & NW. I can't seem to place them in an appropriate place as I do not want to destroy the 8WS & 8 MS yet wouldn't wood neutralize the 2 star? Generally, plants are always good in terms of feng shui. Most of the time most plants if any should be placed in the garden or balcony area. This is practical for it makes it easy to maintain and well as create a very nice garden environment for the balcony area which is extremely pleasing to look when you look from the living room area. Som…

Dear Mr Ng, 1. Based on the information provided, I have prepared a Flying Star (Xuan Kong) chart for your home. 2. These are my findings: 2.1 In addition to what was mentioned earlier, the Flying Star chart for your home also shows another “leak” related to the time dimension. 2.2 Under your current Period 7 Flying Star chart, you have a mountain star #5 at the front of your home. This is associated with loss of money and misfortune. 2.3 Based on this Period 7 chart, it is not advisable to activate any water features in your living room or balcony area, as most of the recommended cures for this home are not from the water element. 3. For your hom…

Dear Konrad, 1. In my opinion, how suitable the house is to a person (breadwinner and family members) are but one of the many considerations for selecting a house. 2. This is the main reason why many people; are not able to take full advantage of Feng Shui to help them. But instead, nose dive into a vicious cycle of `hit & run'. 3. Therefore, we often see many of us dwell in micro aspects of Feng Shui. And forget totally about the macro aspects. It is akin to living or pretending to live in a house with four walls and forgetting that there is an external environment. 4. Quantum Leap in Feng Shui In order to achieve a quantum leap in Feng Shui, priority should go inst…

Dear Oliv, You have to balance up the sector with the element which would be most effective. In case of 7 2 2, then Metal will still be most effective solution. In period 7, 7 will still be a good star, so not much of additional cure is needed. In period 8, Metal and Water would be good solution as it will create a Triple Element flow (ie Earth - Hope that helps. Dear Kathy, It is best to find out where is the frontage of your house, first. In some homes, although the main door can be at one side of the house; but in some instances, you may have the `back' of the house as your `frontage'. For example, there are homes facing the sea. In such a situation; one may have a road leading to the main door. But, all the view is at the `back' or frontage of the house. If one's home is of this situation, then, there is no issue. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, In fact there are several methods of caculating the gua (kua) no. In my applied Feng Shui book, I have listed more than two methods on this. For curiosity, you can try out the several methods and check the final results. In fact, most of the methods works well for years less than 1999. For some methods, anything greater than 2000 may be an issue. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. I had posted some of the methods in this forum -- quite sometime back. Maybe you could do a SEARCH in this forum for the formulas -- if you want to.

Dear Danil, The purpose of using Feng Shui, Ba Zi and other Chinese divinity methods is to try to boost our overall luck. The wrong way to approch this is to simply focus at one sector and cover it with gold etc... Let us not forget that there are more sectors than just this sector. The most promising way to enhance luck are: 1. Try to fix any leaks in the home, first. 2. Only after one has fixed these leaks, should one look at enhancements. Overall, Feng Shui should be practised in a holistic way. And, this involves many theories and concepts. And each theory or concept has a specific aim, strength and weakness. Frankly, if one were to do it on your own, then, there is …

Dear Mr. Foo, You see each section of the Luck flow is analysed individually. Meaning, that the 10-year luck is analysed only on 10-yearly luck. It does not use the 5-yearly luck to determine whether it is Auspicious or Inauspicious. So the same thing here is the yearly luck is analysed on it's own to give you a grading whether the year is Auspicious / Average / Inauspicious for example. A year can be Average, but have Very auspicious 6-monthly luck which only means to say that that year though is average is of a much better year compared to another year that is Average, but have Inauspicious 6-nthly luck. However, it isn't as good as a year that is Very Auspicious, a…

Dear Anon, 1. In my opinion, there is a major flaw in wanting to apply sector/area or corner Feng Shui. 2. For example, how is it that everyone's career area is in a fixed position? For example in the north? 3. This kind of theory cannot hold for everyone and it does not make sense to `pay homage' to this sector. 4. Overall, many a questions were asked as to how can I improve my `career' or `wealth'? Can Feng Shui provide the answer to this? 5. We have to understand that Feng Shui is about bringing in harmony to the house and MAY not be directly related to career or wealth. 6. What does all this mean? If one wants to use Feng Shui one has to remember that with proper use,…

Dear Anon, Although the East/West Group of persons concept is applicable here, it is best that the shapes and form of the apartment is acceptable: 1. The house should have few missing corners or odd shape. 2. Find out more of the history of the rental apartment (usually this is not an issue most of the time). Not compulsory thou. 3. Although NW is your accident direction, do check out what is the intangible force in the bedroom. If the intangible force in the bedroom is equally inauspicious e.g. deather, then it is best not to take up the rental. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, To give an example of a `minor' leak:- A house can be very unsuitable to the breadwinner: i.e. death / disaster i.e. the front door. Often, this is considered as a major leak. If the main door is the `irritation' and `spook' sector, this can be considered as a `minor' leak. Some other simple minor leaks include e.g. a wall clock facing out of a living room window. Often, it is difficult for some of us to understand what are major and minor leaks. But, take it this way, any leak: major or minor may contribute to an accumulation of problems. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. If the apartment is high; i.e. if one looks out of the window and cannot see the pole; then it is not a threat. 2. Often, an apartment that is higher than 4th storey, would not have a lone lamp post slicing into it. 3. In several studies, there were no reported evidence that power lines cause `Sha qi'. - Magnetism from powerlines is unlike radiation e.g from the sun or micro-wave etc... 4. For the barren field, it is ok if it is not an entire `long stretch' e.g. streching from several miles. If the field is e.g. a small area such as one or two foot-ball field and after this, there are building complex; it is usually ok. Warmest Regards, Cecil Warmest Regar…

Dear Chee Kiong, Generally, the best way to determine your true birth element is to use Ba Zi day of birth element. 1. There are two ways to determine a ba zi element, the most basic way is to take the year of birth element. So most will take the fact that your Chinese Year is 1959 (Earth Pig), so your element may be considered as Earth element. 2. However, the problem is that even in the entire year ot 1959, there is still different element that a person may be born in depending on the day of birth. So the more accurate way is to consider the day of birth. This is because one can be a Strong water , weak wood born in an Earth Pig year. So the day of birth is more acc…

Beams?

Dear Anon, Single stretch of load bearing wall which looks like beams is considered `sha qi'. However, do take note that:- 1. If one does not sit under it, there is relatively no issue. For beams, if one sits below it for more than 1 1/2 to 2 hours each day for a year, the `effects' (negative) can be felt. 2. Do take note that multiple beams that are close to each other e.g. 1 feet interval or less and lots of it that looks like stripes do not pose a problem. Only single beams should be considered. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Low Low, The problem here is Ba Zi analysis can be done on a basic level or on a comprehensive level. In order to determine whether you are weak or strong many analysis has to be done. 1. Computing the number of elements broken down into the five element. 2. Assigning proper weightage to the element based on the Seasons of Birth. 3. Determining if there are any elements which combines and clashes to form certain elements. 4. Checking the House of Life and House of Conception influences on the five element distributions etc. 5. And a few more rulesets. Only when you work out all these, can you determine properly whether an element is weak or strong. Take this for exam…

Dear Sanjay, In my opinion, it is difficult to give advise on the issue, unless you have a rough sketch. For example, is there a road separating the two premises (property) and is it a two-way street and how many lanes. It is also good to have the sketch of your home/perimeter and some of these information. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Elena, Frankly, in the past, many FS practitioners are concerned about corner units - especially units that are "hidden" from view. This was because, perhaps, if the home is in a undeveloped area, it was felt that such a home may be affected by "theft" or thieves climbing into the home. Therefore, the above is based on such a commonsense approach to Feng Shui. But nowadays, with modern survillenance anddeterent, such as survillenance equipment and active or passive safe-guard, this is no longer a major issue. More importantly, under the "Water Classic", it is good to check out that water can flow or be seen to flow into the front of the home. But, behind the home,…

Hi Seco, Congratulations on your new home Yes, if all the changes are done for this period 7 house, it should change it to a period 8. To further make the change effective, you should hold like a house warming party to help make ensure that the house is changed to a period 8 house instead of retaining the period 7 influence. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee Geomancy.Net - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Cheli, Thank you for bring up this interesting question. Many of us may become quite confused with `differing' concepts or theories. Usually, a concept or problem need to be redressed (without first taking into consideration - personal self). Let me take a parallel:- In Flying Star Feng Shui, if a location has bad #5 (misfortune) and further more the year chart also has this #5 - we need to really redress this problem (no matter if the sector in question is considered "unfavourable" to the individual). Here, there is a real need to neutralise the problem at this sector. If the requirement is to use a metal windchime, then, we need to use it. Using a wooden windchime …

Dear Anon, 1. I would like to help but, such questions are too general. 2. It is preferred that such questions come with at least a reasonable sketch of the surrounding or set of pictures. 3. Since, nowadays, many users have digital cameras. Please try to resize it smaller. 4. Otherwise, I hope u can understand that it is very diffcult to give concrete replies. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear David, The idea behind the 7th month is that when we TAKE POSESSION of a home, some fear that during the seven months, spirits may wonder into our new home. Just last year, I believe, there was an article in the Straits Times, Singapore that says that some developers were even launching new developments during the seven month. It would be rather silly to say that when we sign an option to purchase a home, the ghost would follow us to sign the agreement? Does this make sense or it is a silly notion? Why are we so afraid of doings things in the 7th month? If the whole world is afraid of the 7th month then: 1. No one wants to travel e.g. fly. 2. No one wants to "…
