Dear Michele, 1. There is no conflict here. 2. Based on the Eight House Theory and your Gua (kua) number:- NE is Excellent SW is Prosperity (Equally both Your West = Longevity and NW = Health are also ok) 3. Both NE and SW are equally good directions for you. So no issue, here. 4. The rationale for this can be found in history:- 5. Please refer to the attached graphic file ne.gig 5.1 In the past, most houses or landed property are of a single level or often occupy one floor. 5.2 Here it is preferred that the main door is located at NE. Since, usually, this opens to the living room area, the rest of the areas such as SW, W and NW are often the location of the bedrooms. Thu…

Dear Chinnee, 1. Yes, the situation you face is considered as an external factor (out of one's control). 2. The key here is that since there is nothing much one can do based on the 4 good and 4 bad directions; we should thus avoid further `leaks' in the home. 3. This is much like human adapatability i.e. each of us have our weakness but, what matters most is to strenghten what we have left. In Feng Shui, it is the same. we should thus try to improve our OVERALL situation (perhaps) in other areas. And thus hopefully, increase our overall "examination marks". Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Gemini, If one goes strictly by the five element concept: 1. 8 goldfishes plus 1 black 8 represents earth, 1 represent water There is no real beneficial relationship here. 8 Earth is then exhausted by the goldfish (metal), and water later exhaust the metal. Though, it forms Earth - No major significance. Often based on phonetic sounding, 9 or 8 are better sounding. 10 sometimes is referred as 1 and 0 and sometimes people don't like zero. 3. Under period 7, often feng shui masters would recommend 7 + 1. Where 7 is weak metal, 1 is water. And this is a harmonious productive combination. 4. However, under period 8, you might like to consider 6 + 1, which is 6…

Ingredients: Mother, son & his dog. When we mix these three ingredients = Son demands for a pet dog. Loving mother buys the pet dog for him. A few days later, son lost interest in the dog. And wants a bicyle. Mother permanently becomes the servant to the dog: feed, bathe and clean up after the dog. Mother = SERVANT = SLAVE!

Dear Barbara, I believe many of us are in the same situation as yours "exactly opposites". What is more important is to: 1. Understand the purpose / objective of each concept and what is can or cannot do. For example, under the Eight House Theory:- 1.1. It can be used in general to find out how suitable a house is to the "breadwinner." 1.2. Other than this, there is not much one can do; if e.g. North = death or health. If the bed is located here; perhaps, you can sleep closer to the North while your husband sleeps further away from the North direction. (He can be `shielded' by you). 2. The depth of application of Traditional Feng Shui depends on your level of participat…

Dear Siew Foong, Please see below:- Presently, the information is too general to give you good advise. You may like to look at the placement of the furniture e.g. computer table / work table based on: 1. Good Shapes and Form Feng Shui. 2. Utilise the Eight House Theory to see if the tables can be placed in good sectors for each member. 3. Take a look out of the window of these rooms to see if there are any poison arrows. What one cannot see, it no longer becomes a threat. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jasmine, This is based on `commonsense' rather than Feng Shui. For example, it is said that it is best not to have a bedroom above the kitchen. The rationale is because, the kitchen is where we usually do our cooking. And there may be a remote possiblity that a fire may accidentally break out in the kitchen. (Higher probability). In such a situation, as fire travels upwards, the room above the kitchen would most likely be the first to be affected. It is the same as the garage. Here, it was felt that usually the garage may include some boxes of flammable material or used as a storage. Alternatively, some people feel that the vehicle, may catch fire. I feel that this…

Dear Carol, It is best to look at a sketch. The rationle is that the main consideration is the Shapes and Form Feng Shui. In addition, it also depends on the country or climate. For example, if the weather is hot and there is no shade, a West room may become hot and not conducive to work. More importantly, as mentioned above, the Shapes and Form is the most crucial aspect. Sectors with imbalances, can easily be corrected at any location i.e. be it at the North-East or West. As mentioned, if you have a sketch, I can look at it based on the Shapes and Form (better positioning). Otherwise, it is difficult to provide a conclusive set of comments. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Ricky, I feel that the information provided by the book is not totally true. 1. In my opinion, what was written is too general to be applied. In fact, Nine Star Ki uses the same numerology as Flying Star Feng Shui. And some FS practitioners treat both as one and the same. Only the methodology used is different. Furthermore, I believe the book does not take into account the following:- 1.1 Date of birth of the house: Period 7 is within 1984 to 2003. 1.2 Personalised to the compass direction of the main door 1.3 It does not take into consideration the mountain nor water stars. 2. Let me illustrate why this is so:- 2.1 Flying Star House Feng Shui takes into account se…

Dear Soo Juan, Yes, due to physical contraints, there is not much one can do here. The most important consideration is have a tidy kitchen. Here, remember to keep all forks, knifes and sharp objects of the kitchen. It is inauspicious if such items is placed in a situation, where when one opens the main entrance door, one sees such object(s) e.g. knives or sharp objects of the kitchen. It is preferred that the stove should not be in full view of the main door. If not, best to close the door leading to the kitchen. Here, the stove is usually a location where one suppose to keep the warmth and in such a situation, warmth is hard to retain. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Wasis, It would be nice to select an auspicious date. But if things has past, it is best to forget about it. Anyway, the date may not be very inauspicious or inauspicious. It could instead be average or mixed blessing dates. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sybil, More importantly is the main entrance door. This door should (MUST) open inwards. On the practical side, there is frankly no issue with front gate opening out. This is often because of the constraint of limited interior space to open inwards: as it `hit' a parked car. Here, also many auto-gate opening devices are fitted to swing outwards - as this is most practical solution as mentioned above. We can say: It is nice to have it open inwards - provided it is practical. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi, i need a few advice on my kitchen renovation problem. Thank you for your time. My husband gua number is 3, mine is 4. Currently I am moving the kitchen from the 1st floor to the 3rd floor. My new kitchen will be a-U shape kitchen, at north-east-south wall. At first, I want to put the stove facing South direction (ie,on the North wall). Is it ok? As the stove knob's will be facing the same way as the front door? The front door of my house is facing South. However, if I put the stove on South direction, it will be the exact opposite to the sink. The sink has been installed, so I can't move it anywhere else. I've read that fire can't be placed opposite water. Is there any…

Dear Anon, You can make use of the Free tools provided at http://www.geomancy-online.com Use the Eight House and eight house related tools to help. More importantly, when u use this theory, please follow the steps here:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm In your search of a new home using this theory, try to: 1. Find how suitable the house is to the breadwinner. The most unsuitable houses for the breadwinner is the `death' or `disaster' sector. 2. Next, do a Eight House chart for all family members and visualise i.e. look out what intangible forces are there for each family members and where they can stay. For example, for the husband and wife, check to see how the ho…

Dear Soon Hoe, Yes, in my opinion, it is best not to place a painting with many birds facing the dining table. This is symbollic of too many mouths to feed. Even if they are cranes. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Lisa, Honestly, planting a plant does not bring luck. But rather, it has more to do with the landscaping of a home. Locally in Singapore, many years ago (1970's) planting mango or even rambutan trees were very popular then. But, especially for the mango tree, once it matures in 10 to 20 years, it can grow very huge and often made the frontage of homes very "yin" as little light filters downwards. Where possible, from a Feng Shui point of view, avoid planting a tree where the tree trunk would one day "slices" the main door or a window of a home. The tree trunk is like a "butter" knife slicing thru - creating a poison arrow. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Caroline, Please see below:- Otherwise, based on your description, it seems practical. Let's be reasonable. And see some logic, here: In the past, I mentioned this senario: Let's imagine that the two of us are interested in dating a colleague in the office. Both of us know "SECTOR" Feng Shui. And according to this "silly Feng Shui book" SW = our romance sector. I placed9 roses at the SW sector of my office work table. You saw what I had done. And boldly placed 99 roses at the SW sector of your work table. Maybe, you have enhanced to your max but to me, my max could be a room full of 999 roses. So, I have (secretly) outbid YO…

Dear Anon, Under the Eight House Theory; there is not much one can do i.e. as the Eight House Theory is not directly related to the Five Elements where imbalances can be neutralised. Other considerations under the Eight House Theory include - what is the `intangible' force at the main entrance of the door - to determine (or one way of finding out) how suitable the house is to the owner. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Glyn, Please send my regards to Phil and all your lovely children:) Yeah, I can understand what you mean:) Nowadays, a voice amplifier or *joke* perhaps, do get yourself a CD of the sound of waves. I have seen such CDs around selling in some shops. For sure, do try out those CDs with gentle sea waves. Avoid getting those that sound like the force of a Tsusami wave... swoosh.. erh... which might literally sweep one off one's feet. Do take care! And hope you recover from your sinus! Erh..perhaps? *JOKE* When young.... when you were in your mum's womb; perhaps, your well developed ears felt comfortable, just maybe, she heard that playing sounds was good for you:) An…
