External Shapes and Forms is about the study of the surrounding environment. Often, some homes have different shapes than others. Under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, we have to identify what kind of element our neighbour's home are. For example in this illustration: the owner's home is often considered as an earth home. And it's immediate neighbour's is a FIRE element.

Dear Anon, For kitchen `Feng Shui', there are several `rule-sets' or guidelines: 1. Where possible, the fire stove should face inwards (into the house). This implies that there is `warmth' in the house. 2. Under Shapes and Form Feng Shui, it is not as good if the stove face outwards of the house. 3. Where possible, the stove, should be an auspicious sector - for the `women' of the house. But since you are a Male and if you are living alone - it should (preferably) still be located at an auspicious sector. 4. If there is no ventilation hood and if there is a ceiling beam that presses against the stove, this is inauspicious. 5. It is equally inauspicious if an exposed water…

Dear Sarina, Since you are refering to the Eight Associate Directions (Wealth and Marriage Sector). This is considered a static Theory, just like some of the those based on bagua (NW=Metal etc). Usually, these are placed on the least priority to focus on when trying to create a Feng Shui friendly location. Simply because they are not personalised to anyone, so it is unlikely to be of great impact to anyone. Also, usually we are more focus to try to fix problems that exists such as Sha Qi or Poison Arrow created from sharp corners of objects in the house which cuts into a person working in that area. This means that you always try to fix problems which you can see and not …

Dear Analia, 1. For a Period 7 house, or homes built between 1984 and 2003, this Lunar year is quite interesting. This is because the Year Flying Star numbers are the same as the 20-Year Flying Star numbers. For example, in most Period 7 homes, the East sector has a base number of #5, and this year’s flying star for the East is also #5. 2. Likewise, in every other sector, the base number matches the year’s chart. This means that, based on just these two influences, each sector can naturally be very beneficial or potentially problematic. For instance, since the East sector has a constant pair of #5s (often associated with misfortune or sickness), and considerin…

In my opinion, there are different opinions with regards to this. Frankly, some geomancers don't even associate the two i.e. a chiming clock and NE or SW sector. Thus, if they are truly not either aware or too concern about it; then this is one consideration. Often, if one practises Flying Star Feng Shui; and applies Flying Star Feng Shui; As a simple e.g. sectors that have CONCENTRATION of YIN stars e.g. 2, 4, 6, 8 plus if these locations are especially the storeroom or a basement area; then even if these sectors are not NE or SW, can harbour COLD spots. If you have put two and two together and find yourself in doubt; then; you MAY if you wish; if feel not so comfortabl…

Quote: LEE JOHN wrote: I would like to seek your advise on the feng shui at Regentville condo. Dear John, In my opinion, there is nothing "fanastic" about the Regentville condo. However, each unit / apartment has to be looked at on it's own merits and also whether how well it fits the breadwinner. Overall, it was TOP in 1999. (99 years lease)And todate, it is already 6 years old. When some of the units were put on resale in 2000, price per sq foot (psf) was at a high of $621 to $528 psf. (crazy price) But now, prices have dropped to as low as $390to $450 psf. If we look at re…

Dear Mr. Lee, In the flying star report, it is stated as follows: Mountain Star is found in the front of the house, while Water Star is found at the back of the house. This is deemed inauspicious unless there is water at the back and mountain in front to reinforce this formation. Can I create mountain in the front and water at the back myself? What would you recommend to rectify the situation. Thank you in advance.

I have just begun to learn Feng Shui. I know nothing but what I feel and what happens. My life has been plagued by bad luck with relationships. I am a black rabbit born in a white rabbit year. Maybe that is why. I married a few years ago. My husband and I are both twos (but I don't understand the significance of that.) My husband tells me that he has had lack of desire for many years. It was not so bad in the beginning, but it is very bad now. I am sad and feel unloved. We are building a new house with our bedroom in the north northwest corner of the house with a west facing sliding door and a north facing window. I really want more passion in my life, and I want my hu…

Dear Anon, Based on the Holy Trinity of Luck, Man (Human) Luck is easier to work on. ie moresocialisation, getting opportunities to meet potential partyetc. This is much better then depending on those items you mentioned, as they are more for decorative purpose. There is no such luck item that will guarantee you romance. You will have to make that effort to give yourself the opportunity for any romance to even start. Just like in ba zi or any romance analysis. Even if you are supposed to have a romance luck say this 10-year period, but if you hardly meet enough person, you are less likely to find someone which you feel you want to live for the rest of your life. Warme…

Dear Collen, For a more accurate definition of the significance of a missing corner or protusion, you can look up the url below:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/building.htm Here are the interpretation of sectors with missing corner:- 1. North : Will meet with an accident. 2. North-East : Occupant will have poor planning. 3. East : Will be easily discouraged or suffer from low morale. 4. South-East : Daughters will not be successful in love affairs. 5. South : Will mix with bad company or be cheated. 6. South-West : Have constant bad luck. 7. West : Will frequently flirt around. 8. North-West : Will have frequent quarrels. For an apartment, Feng Shui cures with regards to apa…

Dear Felicia, In my opinion, Feng Shui's specialty does not lie in resolving such problems as it more inclined towards other disiciplines like Zi Wei Dou Shu or Chinese Astrology. Astrology helps to understand the characteristics but in the end result it depends on the individuals or parties involved. In my sincere opinion, it would be nice to say that by placing or changing the layout, one could immediately stop the `problem'. Feng Shui may to a certain extend, reduce or improve luck but, as I mentioned, it would be best to look somewhere else for an answer. If not, one would end up very frustated if given false hope that, e.g. move the furniture to X location etc.. Som…

Dear Vanessa Pruett, Vanessa Pruett wrote: My fiancee and I have moved in together and we are trying to Feng Shui our home correctly using the eight house method. The problem is this...He is a Kua 2, I am a Kua 4 and my daughter is a Kua 5 female. What do we do? How do we find a common ground so that we can find balance and harmony for everyone? The Eight House is used for suitability analysis. Since each person have different suitability. So what we normally do is follow these steps:- 1. For breadwinner (usually your husband), as long as the house faces his good direction, the house is deemed suitable for him. Also, because he is the breadwinner, the rest of the family…

Dear Zarah, Please see below:- Here, especially for anyone who wants to determine whether: 1. Is this a missing corner? 2. Can this be a protrusion instead of a missing corner? Under Para 1, for ease of identification, we consider a sector (we divide the house equally into 9 sectors). If the area of the sector is greater than 33.3% of the size of that sector, this is usually considered as a missing corner. If it is a `slight' recess, perhaps, you may want to check to see if this is truly a missing corner i.e. 33.3percent of the area is missing. A small mirror, does not `effectively' provide the "depth" require to cure a missing corner > 33.3 percent. It only ac…

Dear Anon, 1. Although sector Feng Shui is not practised here, I really don't see any harm in doing so i.e. SW = romance sector... 2. The 33.3 percent rule-set: 2.1 Usually, under Feng Shui; major impact is based on this rule-set. For example if we paint the walls in the bedroom `pink'; and if it > 33.3 percent of the entire surface of the walls in the room; then the predominate element is changed to Fire element (pink). 2.2 Usually, a small item e.g. rose quartz is a minor element - thus considered relatively little impact on a sector. It can be considered as decorative item. 3. Symbolism in Feng Shui Here, symbolism is important in Feng Shui. For example, the use of …

Dear Anon, If all things remain constant:- Either 1: Your daughter's ba zi does not match your mother-in-law. But I would rather suspect the "jealous" syndrome or there is a better description for this. In fact, frankly, in my opinion, it is very common for children. For example, often, we hear of one having only one child. And for the child, he/she feels that he/she is the "centre" of his/her family's entire world i.e. in terms of love, affection and "pampering" for some. But, suddenly, we are expecting another 2nd child. Perhaps, after giving birth, "less" attention or rather the 1st child felt that less attention was spent on him/her etc.... Perhaps, your mother-…

Dear Elena, To be truly honest, Feng Shui is not a cure all. In my opinion, this has more to do with man/human relationship issues. And I personally feel other feels have a better success rate in analysing and finding a better solution to your son's problems. For example, things like getting someone who is closer to your son to understand his needs (frustrations) better. For example, teachers or someone your son had often confided etc.. Often, there is also two sides of the coin on this issue and we need to understand, what went "wrong" and how to proceed in a "stable" manner. Or if family members are unable to do so, it is better to seek some professional advise or …
