Dear Corinne, 1. The rooster, with its distinctive red crown, could perhaps be thought off by some practitioners as belonging to the fire element. 2. Alternatively, it could also be thought off as a metal element because its sector is West or (Metal element). 3. Frankly, there is no evidence to suggest that a picture of a rooster would be effective to stop the `burring of wealth'. If you like or enjoy the picture, you may consider to place it. 4. But, some Feng Shui practitioners caution that the `rooster' symbolises `fighting cocks'. It is common even till today to see rooster matches and gambling to see which rooster wins. Some of the matches are quite cruel because th…

Dear Carol, Please see below:- A warm welcome to you:) The application of Feng Shui depends on the following:- 1. Ranking and priorities. For example doors facing each other is `secondary importance.' Same goes for a rotating fan. 2. If one wants to apply Feng Shui, it is not a `direct' application. 3. It also does not involve only one concept or theory. But a multitude of theories and concept such as: 3.1 Shapes and Form. 3.2 Compass Schools - Eight house and Flying Star. 3.3 Pillars of Destiny (element and its strength). 4. Many people believe that `Fast Food' Feng Shui is the way to go. They go buy a few books on Feng Shui. Not only do they buy the books, they …

Dear John, This question is quite subjective. This is because, from the years of meeting people or hearing feedback, some of us are more tolerant than others. While some people are more sensitive i.e. they feel uncomfortable sleeping with a mirror facing their face or body. Some others, said that they sleep soundly and peacefully. http://www.geomancy.net/polls/index.htm You can check out the results of the survey: Are you comfortable sleeping facing a TV set (mirror)? A short simple 3 questions survey. in the above link to find out user's responses to this question. Each of us, thus may need to make their own judgement as to whether it is true (if possible based on our ow…

Dear Ken, I've posted two question on the attached file. From the Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui, your office table looks like `entrapped' at a `dead' end or corner. Frankly, it does not look good especially if you back is unprotected by a narrow stretch of corridor. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Members, 1. On member was asking on a book on choosing names. 2. Dr. Evelyn Lip had written a book approximately 110 pages. 3. One intersting topic is choosing names according to the number of strokes in each character besides other significance, symbolism and traditions in Chinese numbers. 4. In my opinion, the book is a simple introduction to Chinese numbers. And if you can find it in your local library, it is certainly worth borrowing it especially, if one wants to do a `research' into this area. (I think it should cost around US$10.00 or less.) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Cheui May, 1. You brought up a good question. 2. I would apply the "33.3 percent Rule set." 3. I call this the 33.3 percent rule set as a general guide to better understand certain Feng Shui concepts that are universal: For example, 3.1. When we determine a "missing corner", we usually, say that a missing corner is one where it is 33.3 percent missing or the area is greater than 33.3 percent. 3.2. When one wears e.g. a `T' shirt, and to enhance oneself, for example a weak water person could e.g. wear blue shirt. It covers more than 33.3 percent of his entire surface of his body. Contrast this with wearing a ring or many rings. This is just an example. 3.3. For water …

Dear Anon, 1. Currently, there are many factors that can attribute to the situation you face. 2. At the preliminary (without using proper Feng Shui tools for analysis), the two trees do not seem (in my opinion to be large ones) as you had mentioned that it is lower than your window. 3. More investigative work can be done. But generally, too many trees e.g. the two trees even though they may not be that large may in certain circumstances create a too yin situation. And based on time dimensions in Feng Shui, at certain timing, the location may become too yin and thus create such an imbalance. 4. Try, for the moment, not to take too drastic a step such as chopping the tree d…

Dear Yuki, Chinese Astrology 1. This issue may not be directly related to your problem. But let me highlight for interest:- 2. The closest to understanding our "characters " or "traits" is sometimes through `auto-suggestion". 3. Another area, is in the field of Chinese astrology. 4. Sometimes when one reads too much of their `Astrology' characteristics, we tend to `play the part'. For example, when we are `told' that we are a Tiger, and a tiger person has certain characteristics, some of us, may use such auto-suggestion. 5. Your problem with inter-racial relationships is akin to this. Once you can break `auto-suggestion' that inter-racial relations, cannot happen to my f…

Dear Miu Kwan, Please see below:- 1. Under Eight House Theory, `Irritation line' as it suggest is minor as compared to `death or disaster' sectors. 2. If there are no serious problems, especially health, you may if you want to `skip' Flying Star analysis. 3. Symbollically, in my opinion, it is still best to use the main entrance. Rather than become a `servant' yourself when using the back door. 4. Another "controversy" is that if the main door (frontage) is opposite the backdoor, it makes no sense to call the back door (facing the backyard) the main entrance. Here, removing the house number, to place at the back door, is not a `logical solution'. 5. The Eight Hous…

Dear Susan, Please see below:- If you have a layout plan it would be much easier to give you proper advise. There is a conference for attachments for this. I understand, you have applied for help under our token, audit for `hardship' case. Robert will give you the necessary credit for this. For those, who have problems, is advisable to use more professional tools as it usually will help to analyse the situation in a more `scientific' way. A layout plan would help us locate the main door. If you have previously, consulted any practitioners and had been given advise on purchasing `stuffs' to hang, it is adviseable to remove them totally. From many past cases, it is …

Dear Anon, In Traditional Feng Shui:- 1. The main door is important as it is like the `mouth' of the house. 2. The main important thing here is that the main door, must be "protected". "The mouth must not be hurt". For example, if a sharp corner of another building points to the house, it is known as Sha Qi or poison arrows. Other common arrows include, a single lamp post that slices the main door (tangent to it). Here, if one stands at the main door and looks out of the house, the object e.g. a lamp post should not slice the main door. 3. Besides, the main door, the frontage e.g. windows, should also be `protected' from some of the harm as mentioned above. 4. Tradition…

Dear Users, If you are in Perth, Australia and need reliable consultations, do approach Glyn. She is one of my best students and come highly recommended by me. Dear Kewpie, 1. It is very difficult to comment on the `generic' term, a townhouse. This is because, it also depends on the location it is sited, the plot of land holding the row of houses. The elevation, the front, the back areas in relation to Shapes and Form. 2. Personally, I have also purchased a townhouse unit, two years back and now it is nearly ready for occupation. What I did, to take advanage is, to looking at the Flying Star, using the Good House program which Robert specifically developed, mainly for our own use, to locate the best house amongst one of the town house. 3. We had an advantage because speed was essential in such a situation. We used our program t…

Dear Anon, If the pair of hands are stretched out in a `receiving' position, it would not be `auspcicious' unless the hands hold something. A pair of `empty' hands symbolises e.g. begging, and if they are really in this `position' then, best not to display it at all. Thus as you have not exactly described what posture it is, the above are my immediate comments. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Ann, Thank you for the information. Currently, it is difficult to know what is the actual cause. This is because, only a full audit and especially a site survey would be able to pin-point what is actually `wrong'. There are a few points: 1. Usually, due to time dimensions, unauspicious stars could have `flown' to that sector of the bedroom. 2. An indirect result could also be the clearing of trees. I am not suggesting anything but, if dogs become `noisy', without apparent reason, more observations may be required on this. 3. Do stand at the window, and see if there are any poison arrow aimed at the house. Especially, a lone lamp post which may now become prominent, b…

So...no tree planting in the W? or don't plant a lone tree in the W? I am thinking along the lines of a plum tree or something to capture the sunshine in front of the house/to give some shade from the glare of the setting sun. Also, to raise the value of the property. Anyways, thanks for the insight and I think I'm gonna go ahead and plant it.

Dear Anon, In my opinion, there are four `sources' of such spirits: 1. Wondering imps. These imps, I believe are playful imps that perhaps are `attracted' to the home e.g. where they pass by a house, found the sound of the windchime. In my opinion, these are quite harmless, but can give nightmares to people. 2. Spirits or souls that could not rest easy. For example, they were brutally murdered, hanged or some other events of such nature. I believe, these spirits soul were not laid to rest and perhaps, the event somehow still continue to be `trapped' in the particular area. 3. The Seven Lunar Month. Since ancient times, the Chinese believed that during the first day to t…

Dear Anon, Please see below:- Generally, it is acceptable to plant the additional flower bushes. Like all plants, they need frequent trimmings (especially, if they had grown / mature). Usually, there is no specific plants that one should keep, but rather, plant plants that are commonly found to thrive and flower in my specific country. It would be nice to see the flowers bloom. Yes, we live in a practical world. Where, we do have things that we keep near our bed. Usually, one do not need to shift it. The only thing is if we can try (where possible to avoid) a sharp corner (if we can). But as you mentioned that it is a small cupboard, it is still acceptable to lea…
