Water in the west is bad because: 1. The west is a yin location 2. Water will make west even more yin, thus creating an imbalance. 3. During period 7, even if you have #7 water star, water is bad as it can cause loss of wealth. So, during period 7, no water in the west, unless you want to experience financial problems. Glyn

Dear Cloud, Although, I have some idea of what the `tray' ceiling looks like but have not seen one closely so cannot (fully) comment on how `bad' it is. Overall, two Feng Shui `tools' are available: 1. A pair of flutes in a `Ba Gua formation' ----- / \ 2. Windchime One has to be cautious if one uses it in the room or at any other locations in the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil

The water stars to currently activate are #7- current prosperity, #8 future prosperity and #9 - prosperity yet to come. Before you activate the water stars they must be in an open space - like main entrance, not locked away in a bedroom or such other room. Water stars need activity. Mountain stars need no movement. Do not activate other water stars especially #2 - sickness star and #5 - misfortune star. Water in the west is not good. Glyn

Dear Anon, Ideally, it should be a painting e.g. of a mountain scenery or an object with immovable mass. For the bamboo style plate, in general, it is in my opinion too `weak' to be classified to activate the mountain star. Yes, if the sector is an auspicious sector, it is even better to activate a mountain star. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Angie, 1. I understand it can be quite confusing on `Feng Shui'. 2. Frankly, it is best not to use the Eight Associations or Eight Aspirations `Feng Shui' nor fixed template Feng Shui. 3. If you set aside the above, and start `fresh' as what you have done, you can use traditional Feng Shui for your benefit. 4. Unfortunately, each Feng Shui theory has its strength and weakness. When you are using the Eight House theory, it is more to find out : a. How suitable for you to your house. b. In the bedroom, are you sleeping in a good direction. c. Priority should be given to (b). and only after, you can see if you are sleeping with your head facing a good sector. This is l…

Dear Anon, 1. It would be better if I could see a scanned image. 2. As you have described, it does not look `ideal' especially if there is a tilt. Frankly, I still not sure how much is the tilt or curve etc... Therefore, unable to give you a fuller analysis. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Elena, 1. Yes, you are quite right. Money plants comes in small, medium or large plants. Small plants merely have roots and can grow in a small bowl filled with water. Smooth rocks are placed to hold the plants. Here, the money plant does not look like it has vines. 2. It is more a western concern, I believe that plants do not have vines rather than Chinese belief. I believe there is no issue. Perhaps, you can let us know who mentioned the statement or perhaps, the author or the book. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Daniel, There are different ways to determine the best colour of carpet: 1. If one considers determining the colour under Feng Shui, it would involve finding out the person's element and it's strength. For example, if your element is a weak water person. You can consider a blue or green carpet (which represents) water element. A weak person need more water to balance him. Alternatively the productive element for water is wood. So go for a green or brown carpet. 2. If one considers two persons e.g. husband and wife and wants to find a binding element, can make use of the Pillars of Comparison at www.geomancy-online.com (for members) to find the binding element (colour…

Dear Anon, The main purpose of checking whether the two bedroom doors faces each other is based on one of the principles of Shapes and Form School where if there are two doors especially two bedroom doors that face each other, most likely there is a tendency for `rilvary'. As you have confirmed that it is rather a "triangle effect," there is less of this possibility. As the triangle effect is less known situation. Frankly, I do not want to be disappointed but there is no known direct relationship between Feng Shui and sibling rilvary. The closest to it is the Chinese Astrology signs e.g. http://www.lovesigns.net that looks at each person's characteristics based on their …

Time difference in `time frame'

Dear Carrie, We have been looking into this issue for quite sometime. Initially, we were toying with time zones but based on the work done by Robert and myself, we prefer to take the season or time of influence from China. Let me explan why:- 1. Countries like Singapore is exactly on the same time zone as Beijing China. Hong Kong, Malaysia and Taiwan are equally within the same time zone. Even Perth Australia is exactly on the same time belt as Beijing. The rationale is because Chinese hour is two hours and not one hour. 2. Some western FS practioners use the time zone but did not take into account both the longetude and latitude. Bearing in mind these two influences, fo…

Dear Cecil, Thanks for your reply. Would like to clarify some things: * The trees planted have about 8-10 ft. distance between them. Also, I planted them in the first place because there was way too much sunlight coming in and the rooms facing that side used to get very hot. These trees also do not have dense foliage. Is it still a problem area? Before planting them, do not think I slept any better. Then all that desolate muddy space used to bother me. * The plants inside the halls are small plants - money plants, spiders - in small containers. The bigger plants are outside the hall windows on the ledge. * About the water bodies, if you mean bathrooms, etc., I have tried …

Hi Cecil, Thank you so much for your FS considerations on water items. I've bought a small water fountain because I just love having one in my living area. The sound of flowing water in the fountain gives me a relaxing feeling and somehow a sense of invigorating energy in the mind. In terms of personal strength, I'm a strong earth person. My wife is a weak water person. I know that earth clashes with water. Does it mean the presence of a water fountain may have some negative affects for a strong earth person like myself and somehow affect my business decision making? I believe that water in FS is an extremely important issue. Therefore I'm reluctant to use it without some…

Dear Karen, I believe that water leaks should be the pumbing of the house and not related to `omens'. Frankly, for now it is difficult to associate leaks with `Feng Shui.' It is best to have the pumbing fixed as soon as possible. For accessing the home, it is preferred that one uses the Flying Star theory to check for imbalances. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi fraser, I read your reason for finding out the Heaven-Earth-Human Luck Percentages. I am sorry to say that I do not agree with your reasoning. I think the dreams and other tools like palm history, astrology and 8 character bazis are supposed to be used as guiding tools to strengthen oneself so one can face life without fear and with hope and determination. Not with your reasoning that if the 10 years ahead are going to be tough so why bother to change the outcome since it is destined to be so. Nobody knows for sure what future holds and the destiny can always be changed since there are other unknown factors which affect the destiny. And it is universal law. One will ge…

Dear Anon, Grateful if you can further elaborate on the extension. For example is it an `external' extension for a car park or an internal one. If internal, what is it used for. In addition, anyone who is familiar with the history of the house. This is because, beside the new extension, we could perhaps, `back-track' to see if any events match the flying star of the period. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1:3 is equal to 33.33%. This is a reasonable Feng Shui figure. (please see below) The above is a good guideline. It is used widely in the forum and it should be a good guage when applied to doors and windows. Other "applications" include the advice given if the missing area is 33.3 percent or more, this is considered a missing corner. More examples can be found in messages under this forum. I usually term it the 33.3 percent Ruleset. Warmest Regards, Cecil
