The house is a single detached residential house within a compound. The swimming pool is a part of the house since it was situated at the first floor underneath the living and dining rooms. Some says that this is not good because it resembles a grave. Is this true? Do we have to remove this swimming pool for our peace of mind. Thanks.

Hi Cecil, Thanks for your speedy reply, here's the information you need: There is no main gate, it is a private compound with open space: a small lawn, a garage and a driveway. The fire hydrant is roughly about 341-343 feet and approximately 20-30 degrees from the main door. Our driveway is gently sloping down to the main road so I would say maybe slightly higher than the main road. And also, there are two lamp posts:one directly facing main door and the other is at the right side of the house. Isn't there any possible way that we can view lamp posts as positive? Gratefully yours, Sejanus.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions. I really do understand (or thought I did) the five elements concept clearly. I believe my confusion comes from reading conflicting information. i.e Idiots guide: center of home: 3(sitting)7 (facing)5 construction. their comment was: Metal pierces wood, domination cycle involving the unfavorable #3 and prevailing but inherently unfavorable #7 - add reductive phase water. ISN'T #7 LUCKY UNTIL 2004 WHEN THE CYCLE CHANGES? Am I making too much out of this? Any good books you could recommend? Thanks soooo much.

Further to what I had mentioned earlier, traditional Feng Shui should be: 1. Based on the Five Elements. 2. If it is not based on the Five Elements, at least, it can be related to Yin and Yang concept. (The only exception is the Eight House Theory where it is still based on the Compass School of Feng Shui) 3. Under Symbolism, it is looked at in relation to "holistic" Feng Shui. It cannot be cited all the time. If it is `cited' all the time or used as an `excuse' all the time without at least in some instances related to Para 1 (5 elements) or Para 2 (Yin and Yang) most likely in my opinion, the person is simply practising `Kindergarten Feng Shui'. Usually, if one looks c…

Dear Anon, I have attached a simple sketch showing in RED, the best areas for activating a mountain stair if it is present. As mentioned earlier, each house is different in layout and in some houses, the back door can be at the kitchen while for others, it is a standalone passage way. The best method is to clearly understand the concept that the mountain star is to enhance the `solid-backing' and not to hinder the frontage by blocking it. Thus for the frontage, it is often suggested that water or clear space is ideal. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi Daniel, If you decide to attend the lillian too's conference. Can you ask her why there are so many contradiction about windchimes in her book. In one book she mentions to hang 5 rod wind chime with pagoda to press the 5 yellow and in another she mentions to use 6 rod wind chime and there are many more contradiction regarding it. Secondly ask her that she mentions in all are books not to put flowers and plants in the bedroom but all the pictures of bedroom show plants and fresh flowers in the bedroom. She mentioned that one should not put pictures of women in bedroom because it will make husbands to have roving eyes. Can you ask her it one can hang pictures of couples.…

Dear Cecil, Thanks for your reply. I have 2 more questions: 1. What are the most important evil stars? Are both star 2 & 5 we should always watch out? 2. If both living room & dining room are covered by 3 sectors. How can we apply the cure effectively? Will the cure interfere with stars in other sections? Looking forward to your reply. Huu

Cecil, For you to better understand the scenario,my apartment is located at the corner of the common corridor. Yes, the bamboo sticks (which is at the common corridor)is pointing directly at my Main door - horizontally. They pointing directly at the main door - not by the side. Distance is about 25 metres from my apartment. Hope this info is helpful. Thxs. Jeff

Thanks, Cecil. My office is in tower block located at a cross junction. A FS practitioner once advised me that I should locate some of my "aggressive" looking displays in such a way that they face this road junction. This was a sculpture of an eagle, two sculptures of Shiva Nataraja (an Indian deity with multiple hands). I figured the luo pan may have the same effect. Pity though, it is really quite a piece of art and I rather it faces me.

Hi Maggie: I had bought a fish tank for my daughter (she loves fish)but gave it away recently. In our previous house, it enhanced a sector, in our new house, I couldn't seem to find the right spot and we had some mishaps. Ever since we gave it away - everything is fine and my daughter has forgotten about the fish. Don't feel too bad - you will find someone who wants the fish and tank and will be very grateful for the gift. Good luck!

Dear Gregg: Aaaagggggghhhhh! Don't use Black Hat Feng Shui to "fix" anything - you can make things worse! The Bagua should only be used outside the front door if there is a poison arrow (like a tree, lamp post or neighbor's roof) pointing at you, or a T-junction, etc. Never put it inside the house - it causes discord. I'm sorry to hear that you broke up - you may want to look into how to correct house imbalances in the reports. I can attest to the fact that Cecil's advice really works. Good luck!!! Sincerely, Elena

Dear Wasis, Further to what I mentioned below: 1. What I mentioned refers more towards visit / condolence for a `natural' death such as cancer, heart attact, old age etc... (Accidents e.g. car accidents included) 2. For death due to suicide, murder etc... For suicide, most of the cases, in my country the police would handcuff the dead as he/she had committed a crime. For example, if it looks like a clear case of suicide e.g. jumping down a high storey. Some Chinese belief, that after visiting such cases, they would normally, prior to this buy flowers e.g. lily and some lime. When they bathe themselves, they would pour the fiower and lime over their heads. After bathing, …

Dear Cecil, Thank you for the advice. I am relieved to hear that I probably didn't cause all these water/drainage type of problems with one of my amateur "cures". We have had 2nd opinions and it is really "broken". It is good to know my fiddling didn't influence it. Kathy

Further to what I mentioned earlier, there are many ways of looking at the nos: 1. If we add up 1 + 2 + 4 = 7. Since we are in Period 7 (1983 to 2004), the combined nos 1, 2 & 4 which is 7 can be seen as good or auspicious for this period. However, the argument by others is that no. 7 should be one of the nos instead of adding it up. Thus perhaps a house no. 127 is better? 2. We can look at your house no. based on Yin and Yang concept: 2.1 Where Yin nos are considered even numbers while odd nos are considered Yang. Thus your house number is made up of: 1, 2, 4 which is 1 = Yang 2 = Yin 4 = Yin Where 1 is considered a starting number or symboically the beginning. Whe…

Dear Cecil, Thank you for this wealth of information. I can see that the flow of Qi can be a very illusive thing and why it takes many years to develop into a functioning Feng Shui practitioner. My dilemma is choosing a good frontage for both my boyfriend and I since we are equal as breadwinners, unfortunately he's an east facing person and I'm a west. Since we both have 0% water, I guess a N, W or NW frontage with good Shapes and Forms would be the answer. Cheui May

Shared wealth 1. Traditionally, Feng Shui is used at a macro level. This is where, locations of cities were found and where possible, it can become a vibrant and prosperous city. Of course there are some not so lucky people but generally, people of that city are overall "healthy and wealthy". 2. In the same light, today, plots of land are looked at in terms of the dragon vein and the harmony between the tiger and dragon. 3. It reasons that, collectively, the residents and neigbhours can enjoy prosperity. If a site is auspicious or good, the `goodness' of the surrounding can add further `goodness' to your home. This is a WIN-WIN situation. 4. For example, in one of the mes…

Dear Michelle, Have just read that you have a fish pond at the back of your house,so do i. And i have got to quote a few words here. 1)If your family is goin thru problem, the fish pond behind may not be the only cause. But before drainin the pond.... I think it is best that you get the Flying star and 8 mansion check in your house...or else the pond will be a waste. 2) As far as i know the dragon and tiger concept works with the "FACING" of the house. So whatever behind your house got nothing to do with tiger and dragon. BUT water feature directly behind the house is bad feng shui. My pond is located behind but it is on the left side..So it is not directly behind the hou…

Hi Anon, I have just moved in to a house with the exact same combinations as yours. Main Door is East. I have put in the relevant cure for it. So although it is not so good, but it is neutralize. On another note, I am occupying the fading prosperity sector as my room. If you look hard enough, this is a good sector. You can activate the mountain star. With this combination, the occupier will derive great financial skill and leadership(esp good in military). I have yet to see this ;) but I hope it won't be long. So far, I have implemented the relevant cures throughout the house, activate the relevant mountain stars. The key here is to balance all the imbalance elements. O…
