  3. Many years ago, drinking water was brought via bullock carts. Chinatown is also named after "buffalo carting water".... Photos are around the 1910's to 1930's. Did you notice that they come in pairs?
  4. In the past, it is common for HDB flats to install some sort of a shade: be it a concrete shade or such panels. Thus, in the past, whenever one sees such panels protruding from a block of flats; this often implies that such stacks are facing the afternoon sun. Nowadays especially new flats built from 2010 onwards don't seem to have such "refinements" anymore.
  5. Nowadays, few go for such designs. But, the photos shows : 1. The partition panel uses traditional motifs. 2. Although some don't like the motifs e.g. circle enveloping a hexagram; these are still acceptable "safe" motifs or designs or patterns in a home
  6. One of the photos showing an offering of 5 Vitagen /Yakult drinks; apparently to the 'five spirits' : North, South, East, West and Center ghosts or spirits.

  10. At a first glance, one may think that this is the killing fields! A field laced with so many skulls. But erh.. look carefully.... In the 1930's coconut plantation. See how the actual coconut (the fruit or nut) is placed onto the ground to grow each tree?

  21. Perhaps, whenever a home owner places a pair of qi lin; the owner is trying to imply that his/her home is protected by "an alarm" system?
  22. A pair of enamel coated green coloured qi lin.
  23. This is an interesting claim ...
  24. 1. Please see attachments. 2. Under symbolism in Feng Shui; the house number 2B placed on the gate pillar symbolises UP. 2.1 While the house number 2B can actually be considered as "UP". But, because the number 2 is up and the next B is down; some may have doubts in it's placement.
  25. Watercolours EC: 3 bedroom units. In some of the 3 bedroom units; the illustrated layout shows a TV set : be wall mounted or on a table top may be sharing the same wall as the (partial) master bedroom's bed-head. Some may ask. So? What is the concern? Some are concern that; for example a wall mounted TV; may emit some "emissions". IF in doubt, best not to do so.
