  1. These are a range of interesting sculptures at HDB Tah Ching Road flats which TOP this year.
  2. This well known local store located in Vivo City has a water feature (in the form of a water fall) just bhind the payment counter...
  3. These are some of the considerations: 1. Under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, West sector is considered as belonging to the "white tiger". And based on this concept; it is not good to have a water feature especially one that resembles a "hungry mouth" such as a circular water position, here. 2. The other is Flying Star Feng Shui. As many are well aware; Flying Star depends on time dimensions. Thus, it is not so simple as asking can I place a pond or waterfall there (west). Flying Star also needs to know the "period" and also best to plot an "accurate" Flying star chart to determine the flying star numbers at that sector.....
  4. So long as one stick to the common handrail designs will be absolutely fine.
  5. If you want to know specifically which Flying Star sector; then the attached Geomancy.net's easy to read illustration is attached.
  6. Frankly the Chinese luck system consists of : Heaven, Earth and Human Luck factors. To say whether; is the red wallet sufficient or not would often be looked at in the holistic manner understanding also the above three factors. Technically, based on the Five Elements concept; one can only say "it is acceptable" for a strong earth person to have "red".
  7. In my opinion, you might as well use this ring-tone. And whenever your phone rings; (pretend) to take out your RED wallet
  8. 1. "It's all in the mind". 2. Anyway, to a Chinese red is always (suppose) to be an auspicious colour. 3. Again, one of the reasons why many Chinese restaurants use chilli red in their decor .. some say is similar to what you had mentioned! Suppose to "make one hungry" that was one fable mentioned with this colour. 4. Fortunately, you were not born during my time... if so; if you were to be walking on the streets; the Internal Security Department of SGP (ISD) were very active then; and they may mistaken you for a COMMY (communist). Carrying Mao's Red book. 5. But if transported to China in the 1960's to 1970's it would be different.. you could end up as a Hero! And promoted to the levels of Party Cadre! 6. Hahaha! Today is 2011. Even if you decare that you are a COMMY... no one will ever believe in you! They most likely think that you are (no offence) "Ah Gua".... 7. Anyway... it is all about feeling good factor! If you feel excellent or good flashing the red wallet; by all means! HINT: In addition; this is a good sign as.. you can also say that you are working towards getting that Prancing Horse ride! It's red goes well with your red wallet!
  9. Based on the Five Elements Concept; yes in theory for a strong metal person; under the "destructive element" Fire helps a strong metal person. Thus, what you you mention is acceptable. It would be inauspicious if the person is a weak metal person. Off-the track remarks: Based on stereo-typing; many of us would perceive this person as a female. Asin most ofour mind; which male person would carry red wallet. However, your login name suggests otherwise Reference: http://talk.geomancy.net
  10. 1. Please note that the report considers three factors: Eight House, Flying Star and Ba Zi of the breadwinner. 2. Yang Feng Shui or Feng Shui for the living; the facing direction is important. 3. For Yin Feng Shui or Feng Shui for the dead; then refer to what you mentioned, below. 4. The Flying Star Period 7 applies; only thing is that under Period 8; the #8 are important for this period. Majority of the time; each sector will still depend on the 81 combinations or interactions of the Mountain star vs the Water star.
  11. These are some considerations: 1. You did not mention how his MIL died. 2. Usually, if it is old age or common ailments such as a heart attack or even terminal cancer etc... In my opinion, there is no major concern with it. 3. In my country; 80 percent of the time; the body (was) cremated. And if it is via cremation; even best as cremation is neutral vs burial. 4. Anyway, frankly, all of us one may must perish. And as mentioned; if it is through natural death; then most of the time no issue.
  12. In my opinion, although the workmanship as you mentioned is outstanding; From my personal experience; I strongly believe; that it may be a "newer" version is that I only seen the dark (chocolate coloured) faces or skin-toneturn-up around 20 to 30 years ago. In addition; the older "antiques" of Fu Lu Shou were not as elaborate as the ones you had. Usually, again I believe the older ones all have beautiful natural coloured faces that mimic natural skin tone colour. Furthermore, what makes me think that it is new is the mandarin character on the first figurine (which is Shou) - which is often not found on antiques and the character is not as well "written". Thus, in the past, especially such figurines that were 50 to 60 years old - I have never seen "chocolate coloured faces or skin-tone. Well, I may be wrong.
  13. These are some considerations: 1. There are no right or wrong answers for the education industry to belong to the Wood or Water Element. IT DEPENDS! EDUCATION = WOOD ELEMENT = TECHNOCRATS2. For example, training thus education can be considered as belonging to the WOOD industry. I believe you are a Singaporean. 2.1 And for those who had gone thru Singapore education; especially Primary One (Grade 1 to 6); Secondary School and even Pre-University; majority of us merely regurgitate what we have learnt or simply route learning and reproducing the answers. 2.2 Just imagine a plant. Many plants grow skywards and "straight" and in our education system when I was in it is a no-brainer or many who achieve the highest grade and education become risk adverse. 2.3. Compared to those who were more "hungry". I am just illustrating Singapore education in the 1960s to 1980's and even today. 2.4 For example, many who had little education or at that time went to polys had "nothing" to loose; as if they were to work in say a bank or institutions would be the sandwiched class. 2.5. I am not saying that our education system (WAS) no good; but rather; how many become entrepreneurs or successful businesspersons? Many of the educated would play safe and become a salaried worker of sorts: join the civil service; join the army; join MNCs etc.. EDUCATION = WATER ELEMENT = ENTREPRENEURS3. As we all know; water element hallmark is fluidity... which has a higher content towards : "CREATIVITY". 4. For those solely studying under the Singapore Brand are experts in "vomitting" out the answers usually in uncreative ways. 5. But, if one went overseas especially in the West or US; education here has (in my opinion) be closer to Water element. As route learning or "vomitting" out stereo-type answers is not the main focus. 6. For example, in an MBA course; and depending on the University and field of study; some subjects need route learning or principles such as Accounting and Finance while others lean towards creativity e.g. Marketing course. 7. Thus, depending on what one teach is important. Thus if one teaches Maths; Science and Finance; then often it could belong more towards the Wood element. But if one is into those Graphic Design, Computer Programming etc.. then lean more towards Water element. 8. Thus, I believe for most Singaporeans who had gone thru our "play-safe" education system; cannot be blamed to BELIEVE that a career cannot belong to TWO different groups. 9. As a Singaporean, based on logic; this is not right! " How can you say that a career is Wood and then suddenly say that it could be Water"... sort of thing... It is a pity that most Singaporeans will always end up being a salaried worker. That is why, perhaps, for the last 10 years; on average we have 100,000 foreign talents and many are "our bosses". Most likely, these bosses education system lean towards "WATER" while our SGP is "Wood" - clean and sterlie education. 10. So tell me: education belongs to the WOOD or WATER element? IT DEPENDS! 11. Anyway, being a strong earth : both wood and water are acceptable.
  14. Sales Brochure: Site Plan and Floor Plans waterway-terraces-ii.pdf n my opinion, this illustration shows Ranking of the 4-Room flats in the Punggol Waterway Terraces II Premium Flats.
  15. You wrote: 1. For the Eight House system, the reason we try to find out the facing of the main door is to determine the facing of the house (since they're usually the same). We should find a house with a sitting direction (opposite the facing direction) that is favorable (N, S, E and SE). Thus am I wrong to think that we are looking for houses with main doors facing the favorable directions (N, S, E and SE)? Or is the ideal situation where both the sitting of the house and the facing of the main door are favorable directions? Also, under the Eight House system, the facing of the main door is taken while standing in the middle of the door looking out. It doesn't matter where the door is located in relation to the center of the house. In a simplistic way; what you wrote makes sense. The url below shows the SUMMARY of a delicate balance between not only the Eight House with Flying Star but also Ba zi Feng Shui http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=1&mid=29739&new= The reason for finding the Facing Direction (can be or may not be the main door) is usually the location where there are the most openings. Thus, OFTEN for a landed property it is standing inside the house looking out of the frontage. For an apartment: I believe this has been mentioned in many past forum messages. In Flying Star, the key is to determine where is the most Yang Qi such as the largest amount of openings where most likely qi would flow into the home or apartment. Often it is along the stretch of the windows along the living room windows - side. Try to "forget" more of the emphasis of MAIN DOOR. But subsitute this with FACING direction, instead. So that the "novice" mind is used to the more proper term. If one keeps on saying MAIN DOOR, main door, main door; then it may be so much confusing for the brain.
  16. WARNING! The writing below isnot for the "simpleton"... More academic ... in nature... Don't blameme if one can't understand.. it... I did warn U.. But U did not listen! 1. We can take cue from the paradox known as "The Continuum fallacy" (Neither at the extremes end of Hot or Cold - in between) 2. Here, education system cannot be considered as distinctively Wood or Water Element. (or even a mix of other elements). 3. This is because between Wood or Water there exists a continuum of states. 4. For example: Even in dull subjects like Accountancy; there are applied concepts such as "Creative Accounting". 5. Even in the study of Marketing; there are some topics that depends sterlie understanding of the concepts or parigdms. 6. Even for us humans; even if there is a continuum of Hot or Cold; we can't simply drink boiling hot water. Often, we go for lukewarm water especially for babies or children. 7. Thus, even for teachers: and for any subject; many "smart" teachers would often try to make their topic interesting (Water element) while for some topics.. no choice have to be "dry" (Wood element). 8. Therefore again; education must not be considered belonging only to Wood OR Water and considered as DISTINCT. In real-life it exists in a continuum neither at the two extremes but somewhere along the continuum.
  17. For a landed property it is best to consider the facing direction of the home vs the facing direction of the main door. In this link although the mention is on "tilting main door" but; I understand that yours has to do with using certain doors; However, the concept of facing direction can best be understood from this url (just ignore the "need to tilt" sort of thing:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Tilting_Main_Door Please note that your main door or garage door can be anywhere or on the side of the home. But the above link gives a better idea that no matter how the saying goes " A leopard never changes it's spots". In addition; there are many links under "sticky" on "Facing Direction". Use the SEARCH feature on the top-left frame of this forum.
  18. It is good that Taiwan wants to continue the tradition of making the Traditional Chinese characters alive! Traditional Chinese characters are still used today especially for Chinese Name selection for new borns or those wanting to change their name(s). Nowadays, China and even Singapore uses the simplified mandarin characters.
  19. Can my altar face the dining table? So long as the deity sitting on the altar: at EYE LEVEL does not DIRECTLY face the dining table TOP. If this "test" is passed; then no issue. Why not? Standard off the shelf commercially purchased altars have specific altar heights of around 49 3/4 inches. This is the norm. If so, this much higher than a regular (normal) dining table other than those bar counter tops.
  20. In my opinion; for safety reasons; many swing doors are up to waist or slightly higher. In the attached photos; there can be a remote possibility that especially the upper panels may one day accidentaly slam the panel onto a person's face - if they are not careful.
  21. Frankly, in my opinon, if it only happens once; most likely as you had earlier suspected could be due to "natural" circumstances. Does any family member(s) had any sort dream recently around the time the fell off. Other than that; seldom if any a cup could fall off.
  22. These are some considerations: 1. Symbolism. 1.1. The rationale why LAUGHING buddhas are very popular is the "SMILE" on it's face. 1.2. The idea here is that when we see "someone smiling" it is suppose to makeus feel"happy". 1.3. Thus, it also indirectly may affect someone's psychology in some way: This is why many Chinese place the laughing buddha looking towards the entrance of the home. 2. Even for many Chinese, the laughing buddha should not be taken seriously. Therefore, it does not have any association with religion nor considered a religious artifact. 2.1. Therefore, even for many Chinese; they consider it close to a "decorative" item. 3. After understanding the above; there is no issue with placing the buddhas together. 3.1. Symbolically, again; it is always or often placed such that when one steps into the home; there is suppose to be a "SMILE greeting us". This in my opinion is the main purpose of the Buddha. 3.2. Thus placing it at other locations can generally still be OK. It all boils down to the hope that it's infectious smile spills over to the people who get a "daily" glimse of it. Of course, give it some respect and don't place it on a shelf in the toilet or when one goes to the toilet "seating on the throne" and doing the daily toilet business and having the smiling buddha looking at you! Cheers!
  23. Notice Board You may display your notices on this notice board. The size of your notice should not be bigger than A4. All notices will be removed on 1st and 15th of every month. Land Transport Authority (Singapore)
  24. I was at the West Coast Plaza (formerly Ginza Plaza) conducting a retail Feng Shui audit and came across some wonderful sand "castles"....
  25. This is another type of landed property layout plan. Again, the best place for the altar is as shown in the attachment. The altar is facing the dinning table. In fact, in my opinion; many staying in housing estates or flats consciously or unconsciously `copied' or felt the same feeling in placing their altar in a similar layout as landed property homes. In Hokkien term; it is called "Sitting on mountain; looking out towards the sea" (Chay Swar Kuar Hai)
