Dear Madi, 1. How long is your uncle's restaurant business at this premises? 2. Is the business facing financial problems? 3. Are there other restaurants in the same area? And compared to the business with these restaurants, is the business good / bad i.e. same as those in the area? Warmest Regards, Cecil

Introduction: 1. Geomancy.net forwards a copy of its forum message (one-way) to Yahoo! Clubs: Feng Shui Geomancy Club mainly to serve as an additional archive of the messages in this forum. 2. One of our Yahoo! Club member has requested for help in filling in a simple survey. URL: http://www.risd41.org/surveys/feng.tp3 Password to enter: " guest " 3. I have personally checked out the survey and it takes quite fast to fill-in. 4. If you have the time, perhaps, you can lend a helping hand to assist this student in his research paper on Feng Shui. You do not need to provide your email address etc... Thank you in advance. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. The details below is `self-explanatory':- ----- Original Message ----- From: "trely99" To: Sent: Wednesday, March 28, 2001 3:56 PM Subject: Hi everyone! [Yahoo! Clubs: Feng Shui Geomancy Club]

Dear Chee Kiat, I totally agree with what you had said. 1. In East such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and Singapore, we have always learnt that Feng Shui does not depend on highly commercialised products that are produced to satisfy the `demand' and driven by unscrupulous people in the name of " Feng Shui ". 2. When I tried to do a search under the search engines for Feng Shui products; for our friend in Portual; I found several Feng Shui emporiums that have tied in with so called Feng Shui practitioners to help `push' their products. 3. Feng Shui is now so contaminated and commercialised by all these association with material goods which are highly marked up and only to fool the unsuspecting .... to depart with their hard earned money. Worse, for those who are already at a disadvantaged i.e. financial difficulities are made to buy these ex-goods.. what a pity... 4. It would be a different case, if many of these emporiums concentrate on items e.g. for Feng Shui students such as Loupans or coins. But these unfortunately do not generate big bucks for these emporiums. 5. We have heard of Feng Shui jewellery, wealth fountains, 3 legged toad etc... 6. Like Chee Kiat correctly pointed out, Feng Shui is based on the Five elements and almost anything found in the home can still be used as a Feng Shui `cure' or `tool'. 7. We should all begin to differentiate `real' Feng Shui with fake stuffs... 8. Fake Feng Shui material goods are only just as good as being decorative items ONLY. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Wasis, Would it be possible for you to upload a .gif or .jpg or .bmp file for a clearer understanding of your situation. Usually, you should leave out the main gate as this should not be considered the main entrance. For the main entrance, for many homes, there are usually two doors to the main entrance or distinctly, in many instances, the main entrance door can be seen from the frontage of the house. Or when we drive-in to the house, we could see the main entrance door. Alternatively, it should be the `largest' door in the home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Wasis, 1. The term " Flying Star Feng Shui " and " Xuan Kong Feng Shui " is one and the same. 2. In fact, if one looks carefully at the naming convention in this forum, under the topic header "Flying Star (Xuan Kong Fei Xing)" one will come to understand that Flying Star is indeed Xuan Kong Fei Xing. 3. As money plants prefer some shade, in country which is near the equator, and subject to direct sunlight; it is very common to see money plants planted just below expressway flyovers i.e. the shaded ground. These money plants grow very well such that they look like a vast carpet `grass' covering these areas. As to whether one can plant a money plant in the soil; it can be done. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Liz, I tried searching thru the search engines to locate a supplier i.e. in Portugal, but could not find any. Perhaps, you could try the search engines such as yahoo.com to find a supplier perhaps overseas. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Diane, In general, where it concerns the compass location at north east, it is best to avoid creating or enhancing the location to become too yin. This also depends on the size of your aquarium. Where water is considered a Yin element and too much of it may not be good for this sector. However, further FS audit may be needed such as: 1. What is the lighting level (especially natural light) that goes into this room/area? More natural light -- more yang and good. 2. How large is the aquarium. 3. If a Flying Star analysis has been done; how many #numbers relate to Yin at this sector? Where possible, the Flying star #numbers at this sector should have more Yang influence. For example, Flying Star numbers have signifiance and each no. does represent an object or item. For example, a worst case senario is to find the Flying Star numbers associated with: - Women - Robe - Young - perhaps (RED) Here, we could quite imagine.. that now or in the near future, there could be a likely hanging by a young girl in red clothes at this sector... Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Kerrie, Frankly, I do not know where to begin advising you on concepts such as "fame" area. These are non-traditional FS practises. Neutral colours such as white or pastel white colours are best if one is not sure what colour to paint a wall. Alternatively, instead of speculating on what to paint the wall at the "fame" area - you could perhaps, make a choice based on your personal feelings or consulting family members on the colour. Where possible, in such an instance, do not be `taken' in by suggestions on how to `brighten' up the fame area... These are not proper FS theories ... Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Ian, I can quite understand your confusion here. In this website, and for those trying to find the main entrance direction: 1. Always find the centrepoint of the house and from the centrepoint, locate the compass direction of the main entrance. Reference: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm 2. If you are referring to the use of the `Bagua' as those taught by Black Hat Sect or BTB .. then in my opinion, this is not the correct way to `practise' FS. BTB type of practise is not recognised form and a large measure is focused on making one purchase objects etc... and other marketing ploys to get one to depart with their money. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Joey, For accessing the third floor accomodation, one should take into the consideration the main door location at south-west for taking the compass reading under Flying Star analysis for the room. Warmest Regards, Cecil

TRUE SAD STORY There was once this guy who is very much in love with his girl. This romantic guy folded 1,000 pieces of papercranes as a gift to his girl. Although, at that time he was just a small fry in his company, his future doesn't seemed too bright, they were very happy together. Until one day, his girl told him she was going to Paris and will never come back. She also told him that she cannot visualise any future for the both of them, so let's go their own ways there and then ... Heartbroken, the guy agreed. But when he regain his confidence, he worked hard day and night, slogging his body and mind just to make something out of himself. Finally with all these hardwork and the help of friends, this guy had set up his own company ... You never fail until you stop trying. One rainy day, while this guy was driving, he saw an elderly couple sharing an umbrella in the rain walking to some destination. Even with the umbrella, they were still drenched. It didn't take him long to realise those were his girl's parents. With a heart in getting back at them, he drived slowly beside the couple, wanting them to spot him in his luxury sedan. He wanted them to know that he wasn't the same anymore, he had his own company, car, condo, etc. He made it! Before the guy can realise, the couple was walking towards a cemetary, and he got out of his car and followed ...and he saw his girl, a photograph of her smiling sweetly as ever at him from her tombstone... and he saw his papercranes beside her ... Her parents saw him. He ask them why had this happened. They explained, she did not leave for France at all. She was ill with cancer. She had believed that he will make it someday, but she did not want to be his obstacle ... therefore she had chosen to leave him... Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to,doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have She had wanted her parents to put his papercranes beside her, because, if the day comes when fate brings him to her again ... he can take some of those back with him ... Once you have loved, you will always love. For what's in your mind may escape but what's in your heart will remain forever. Find time to realize that there is one person who mean so much to you, for you might wake up one morning losing that person who you thought meant nothing to you. The guy just wept ...

Dear Anon, 1. In my country, I do encounter several old houses such as bangalow houses i.e. over 100 years old that has been transformed into quad or duplex houses. 2. In one such house, it became `sunken' in relation to other developments around it i.e. new buildings next to it on higher raised ground. In this particular house (or quad-units) the house is considered `entrapped' and surrounded by taller more modern buidlings surrounding it. From my personal observations of the house, for the past 5 years: 1. The owner of one particular unit at the ground level (entrapped house) had difficulty trying to find a buyer for it. 2. Progress for the breadwinner was slow and while many others living next to his house had changed cars no less than 1 or more times, the owner.. from my obervation, was not able to afford a new car. Perhaps, he did not want to change it... maybe... 3. More importantly, rather than simply looking at how well, you can increase the `Earth luck' of the apartment, one should take a look at it's surroundings. 4. As the surroundings can influence how auspicious or inauspicious the house (whole building becomes)... 5. If one uses the Eight House theory, it generally tells how suitable a house to the person. This does not translate to a cure for such a situation. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Ian, Can u elaborate further as to the two doors. Are they the main entrance or two doors within a main entrance area. Usually, one will not be too concerned with the effect of the two doors unless, one is trying to determine which door to apply as the main entrance when applying the Flying Star Theory of the compass school Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Kristina, 1. In my opinion, based on your initial feedback that the hous is beautiful, large and airy... you could perhaps, first apply the adage " If it ain't broken, don't fix it.". 2. Many people, actually do not need the help or `assistance' of Feng Shui to prosper or enjoy good luck. 3. This is because, majority of the time, a house with good Shapes and Forms (both external and internal of the house) provides a quantum leap in `LUCK'. 4. Feng Shui and other Chinese divinity methods is in some sense, all about increasing one's `LUCK'. 5. If one has a quantum leap i.e. excellent Shapes and Form; this is already a significant boost in LUCK. Any additional increase in `LUCK' may be much harder to `squeeze' and based on marginal utility, it may not be worthwhile if we need to spent (say) an additional $100 to get an increase of just $1 of luck. 6. What I mentioning here is that, you could perhaps move in first. 7. Usually, bad Feng Shui in most instances is associated with: 7.1 Constant sickness in the family 7.2 misfortune or accidents 7.3 loss of wealth 8. What you are trying to apply, frankly `worries' me because, it is just bits and pieces of the full Feng Shui puzzle. Applying abit here and there.. does not seem coherent... or proper application of Feng Shui. 9. A full Feng Shui audit looks more into greater detail and by wanting to change the color etc... without proper investigations.. can provide grave concerns.... 10. I remembered, in the past, this Doctor, who read a FS book and immediately changed the color of his gate .. but later realised that it does not suit the element. 11. If a home has excellent FS, kua numbers, in my opinion, may seem less relevant here. 12. If you and your husband and perhaps, children, have a happy feeling about the house, this is indeed a good thing... 13. Rather than, using `haphazrd' form of FS, I believe, you should move in first and `monitor' the situation. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Gagan, 1. Usually, this is due to the sickness #2 and/or #5 (Flying Star Theory) within certain areas of your home particuarly the bedroom. 2. In general, without much investigations using the above theory, you could try placing 6 i-ching coins tied with a red string and hang it above the room. (Usually, an FS audit should be done in such situations to determine the exact location). However, you may try to place it around the bed area. Warmest Regards, Cecil
-
Dear Gail, 1. Yes, it is considered inauspicious to have the front door open to steps. 2. If there is some distance between the two; then a divider or a screen could be used to neutralise this or (I am not sure how `ugly' a curtain or beads look) but the concept here is: `if it cannot be seen (stairs) it no longer poses a threat'. 3. In addition, take sometime to look out of the front door and windows to look out for any `poison arrows'. Here poison arrows usually refer to pointed objects or an edge of a building pointed towards the front door or windows. Or it could be a lone lamp post `slicing' thru the window or door. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Chee Kiat, In my opinion, there is really not much one can do in such a situation especially since this is the building. Since the toilets are there, it can be quite different from a home especially if the ratio of toilet area is much smaller than the entire building and in most cases, the toilet bowls may not be exactly at the centre or ideally should occupy one external wall. (if possible). What is more important here is that where possible, your office's main door should not be facing the toilet entrance. I believe this is not so; in your case. It would be better if the toilet has double doors or an extra door; leading into the male/female toilet or an individual external door. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Betty, 1. For pictures associated with the ocean, so far, (in my opinion) the belief is not to have a picture of a stormy sea. Or to have a fish tank in the bedroom. 2. But in your case, it is my opnion that it is still perfectly acceptable to have an ocean theme in your bedroom i.e. to have shells and pictures (calm weather pictures). 3. Sometimes, in my opinion such books or authors cause unwarranted/unnecessary alarm to everyone especially if the information is "sketchy ". `Water' element would be particulary benificial to a person who is either : weak water or strong fire person. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Pam, In Buddhism, in the past, monks used to supplement their `income' or donations to their temple by offering `readings' such as the " Three lives " or using bone divination. Here, a reading is done for one's past life, present life and future life. Where one's past has an influence on the present and perhaps the future (or roughly equating to the Krama, you had mentioned). Some of the " Three Lives " can be incorporated into another variation of Pillars of Destiny module. You have brought up an interesting issue on `Karma' and currently, in some aspects being a " bad person " has varing degrees and can also be a subjective issue. The terms of reference of Feng Shui is to try to increase one's LUCK. And it can, if properly utilized, help to increase any person's luck; in my opinion be it a `good' or `bad' person. Warmest Regards, Cecil

The story about the Five Coloured Paper used in Qing Ming: In ancient China, there was once an Emperor who took over the throne. After he took over the throne, he visited the location where his father was buried. Legend was that he looked everywhere but could not find the tomb. He nearly gave up until, one of his loyal aids; asked him to throw the `five coloured paper' (which can also be written on). He threw the `five coloured paper' and one of them was lodged in the grass field. True enough, it was his father's tomb. Hence, it was said that from that day onwards, Chinese besides giving offering also placed colourful paper (5 types of colours) and insert them around the grave... as a mark of respect .... Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jennifer, It is quite difficult to understand your exact layout. Perhaps, you can upload a sketch of it for me be better understand your layout. Usually, the table is situated either facing the window or at its side. You mentioned that the large window is at (facing) the north and the door is at the (back) south. In such a situation, does the window have either blinds (preferred) or curtains. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Serene, 1. It is great to hear that you have dreamt of the request and also found your great grand-father's grave. 2. It is indeed a very good omen (based on beliefs) and by locating and `trouble-shooting' the problem at the grave-site; it would certainly help to change the LUCK for you and your family members. 3. In my opinion, if you are choosing a date in April, close to 13 April; I believe the best date is rather 9 April 2001 as this is the 16th day of the 3rd lunar month. This is where, similar to the 2nd of Lunar month just after the full moon i.e. 15th day. (For info) The ideal date was the Qing Ming festival 2nd Lunar Month, 16th Day which is 10th March 2001 which had just past. Starts from Yin time of between 3 to 5 am. Ref: Major Chinese Festivals: http://www.geomancy.net/calendar/festivals.htm Please see below:- For now it is best not to chop away the tree. As I have little information of this; it is difficult for me to give you the precise advise. This is because, the distance between your great grand father's grave has to be assessed precisely in relation with the location / distance of the tree. The type of tree need to be analysed in detail and other factors include the unknown grave and the Shapes and Form (orientation) of your grand father's grave surroundings. First and foremost, spring cleaning of your great grandfather's grave is of utmost importance.. and you can later add the rest of the family members to it. Offerings should be given and if you can get the gardener to trip the top-side of the grave. It would be good if you can use the many coloured paper and get the family members to place it /insert into the grass patches of the grave. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Nat, 1. Usually, the most effective method (especially) if there are no windows at this sector is the use of a full length mirror at this sector. 2. Only if the above resources are exhausted, should you then consider painting e.g. using a more yang colour. Between red or purple, I would choose purple as red can be too `bright' for the home. But if given the choice between pink or purple, I would instead choose pink colour. 3. You should check what is the significance of the missing corner. For example using the reference under this link: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/building.htm 4. If the missing corner (defined as greater than 33.3 percent of that sector) has a major significance such as North = will meet with accident.. then... it would be more prudent to select Para 1's cure instead of Para 2 (which helps to make that sector more Yang). Dear Andy, Usually, objects such as these lions should be placed (preferably) outwards or at the both ends of the main entrance. It is common to find a pair of Lion statues `guarding' main entrances of many Chinese buildings. Majority of the time, because of the size of the statues, it acts as a `cosmetic' decor to the building. Somehow, perhaps, it gives confidence to both visitors and owners of the place. Your lions may not be exactly that large (or huge). Perhaps, it can be placed as a decorative item i.e. on the floor on both ends of the display cabinets. Do check the `face' of the lions: Are they `majestic' or do they give a fierce look? If they `give' a fierce look, it would best be placed looking at the main entrance or outside of the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Shelly, In my opinion, Feng Shui does not have all the answers to your situation. Perhaps, it is more a coincidence right now. (Under the Eight House Theory, it refers to the time spent at (that) specific location.) At this time, focus more on how best you can get through this situation and if need be, see if you can find support from your family members (especially your own parents / or next of kin). Or if there is a (possiblilty remote or otherwise) to recover from the situation. In my opinion, this is not the best time to find support from a Feng Shui perspective (thou) it may sound tempting... Try to find a listening ear.. for your problems / or to seek advise / comfort at the time of need. Take care! Warmest Regards, Cecil
