  1. Dear Lora, In your situation, you can place two plants on each side of your entrance door to create a `triangle effect' with the tree. From a top down view, it would show as a triangle profile; where the tip of the triangle, points away from the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Lora, In my opinion, if it is not your main door or if there is no direct line of sight between your main door and the kitchen/entry door, there is no FS issue. The main concern is only if the main door is in direct line with another door (exit) door and Qi or (Chi) goes directly out of the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear Anon, 1. For those who stay in a landed property, a Ming Tang or semi-circular water position at the frontage radiating outwards would be a good cure against such twin `joss-sticks'. Here, the `water' symbolically put's out the "fire" or "smoke" of the `joss-sticks'. 2. As you live in an apartment, it would seem not appropriate (or impractical) to place a water position at the balcony. 3. If you are living especially in the Far East, one may use the Ba Gua mirror placed above the balcony (mid-point). 4. Alternative cures include:- 4.1. Placing two forks (as in forks and spoon) where each fork is placed on each side of the balcony pointing towards each `joss-stick'. Be sure to use metal i.e. stainless steel or other metallic forks. Here, these forks (METAL) element are used to neutralise the Fire element symbolically from the `joss-stick'. In addition the METAL is used to `cut-down' the `joss-stick' shape which is thin = representing the WOOD element. 4.2. Alternatively, a more offensive cure is to place a pair of cannon on each side of the balcony aimed at the joss-sticks. Here, they (cannon) should be made of metal and representing the metal element to slice and neutralise the joss-sticks. 5. Do not that the above especially para 4.2 is meant more for close range `defence' such as the smoke stack/joss-sticks at close range of say no more than 5 to 10 km away. 6. If you live in an apartment, avoid placing a water position at the centre of the balcony. This is because, usually the balcony is `small size' and there is difficulty in the height of the water (avoid creating a mountain effect at the frontage of the house... clear space is needed). A Ming Tang effect or semi-circular water position radiating outwards is (in my opinion, quite difficult at the balcony area). And the size if small has little effect to cover the frontage. (There will be `leaks' occuring and this would hardly seem a good defence against it). If you are using curtains, it would be good to have curtains at both sides of the balcony (if possible to hide the "joss-sticks"). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear Anon, Yes, in my opinion and personal experience, bamboo; is certainly NOT NICE to have at the back and side yards. Equally, it is not a `neat' and `tidy' plant as it sprouts shoots and can easily harbour snakes... It would not be ideal to bury coins, but rather, if you want, string 6 coins with red string and tie it on a stalk of bamboo. For the pointed sha qi towards the window, the easiest cure is to hang curtains i.e. day curtains or even simply curtains would be acceptable. I am not too sure about using the Christmas tree star... but u could try thou. Alternatively plant or tree outside the window would be a good alternative. Alternatively, if there is a shelf that faces out of the window, you can use for example a dragon facing out of the window. An alternative is the more potent ... cannon. (Again facing out of the house). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Kolsan, Yes is important to understand each theory i.e. their merits and demerits and equally important, the purpose the theory is for. Under the Eight House or East or West House person, do take note of the following: 1. It looks at how suitable a house is to the person (breadwinner). 2. It is good to spent time at a specific (auspicious sector). Under the Flying Star, the key ingredient is to look at the birth chart of the house and check each sector for imbalances. This is different from whether the sector is good or bad under Flying Star analysis. The sector can be a good location i.e. which means no imbalances at the sector. Therefore, there should not be a conflict between Flying Star (used to analyse a sector for imbalances) and Eight House (East/West persons). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Kyin, It is advisable to close the toilet door. As for the toilet cover, this is optional. The other advise, is to keep the toilet `bright' and dry to create a more yang environment. As for the Ba Gua mirror, in my opinion, this is not of any use here. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. Dear Winn, In general, without further detailed analysis, there is (in my opinion) relatively `low risks' or harm in placing 6 coins on the door knob. As mentioned in various forum messages, majority of cures is the use of METAL element. A little more METAL, should not create problems for many. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Anon, Please see below:- Usually, the analysis done by analysis e.g. 7 7 1 and their relationships with each other. Here, a 7 7 relationship may differ with the base number. Such as the `quality' of Double 7's may for example be better with a 7 7 1 than say, 7 7 2 Long gone prosperity are terms given to that specific sector. Other sectors could be `Current Prosperity'. For example under period 7, the current prosperity (term) is located at the centrepoint. As I mentioned earlier, these are merely terms given to specific sectors. It should never be glorified i.e. paid homage to. If one uses it `wrongly' and follow the trend of some.. who believe in sector Feng Shui i.e. SW = romance corner. One should not fall into this trap and perceive that since this is the current prosperity sector, it's buy, buy and buy decorative items to decorate this location. My opinion is that instead of `glorifying' such corners, the crucial use of the Flying Star theory is to check for any imbalances caused at each sector (if any). Here, the 7 7 1 for example, the three numbers are analysed on the basis of the lowest common denominator (LCM) i.e. the Five elements concept. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear Lay Eng, 1. Generally, Yin and Yang are at the pinnacle of many (or all) Chinese beliefs/Feng Shui and divinity methods. 2. If we consider a pyramid, it is at the tip of the pyramid. 3. Yin and Yang concepts are thus the most general and in terms of Ba Zi/8 Characters Destiny very difficult to implement. 4. The best way to utilise Pillars of Destiny / Ba Zi is to `go down' to the " lowest " common denominator i.e. The Five Elements Concept. 5. In the Pillars of Destiny, for example, such as the available report at www.geomancy-online.com it breaks down the number / counts of a person's element. A balanced Pillars of Destiny would normally be e.g. 25 percent each of Earth, Fire, Water, Wood and Metal elements. This would be the ideal situation but not necessarily that everyone in the world would have this in full balance. 6. Another report is to look at one's 10 deities to see if each of the deities has one count of the element. This is because, the 10 Deities is made up of 1 count each of yin Earth, Fire, Water, Wood and Metal element. It is also made up of 1 count each of yang Earth, Fire, Water, Wood and Metal element. Together, this combination would provide a total 10 elements (with yin and yang components). 7. Overall, too yin could be related to one's heaven map as:- 7.1. The individual based on heaven's map is considered more of an `introvert' rather than an extrovert. However, Pillars of Destiny has an "escape clause":- i.e. it is merely an individual's Heaven map based on the time the person was born. The escape clause i.e. where the resultant child could instead be more of an extorvert, could be thru the experience or interaction with the immediate family members and education. 7.2 Besides characteristics, another intersting thing about the Yin and Yang concept is that: Too Yin ... could result in a hypotheical change to YANG. Will Too Yang can result in a change to Yin. 7.3 Imagine looking at the Yin and Yang symbol. When too Yin occupies fully the white shade, when it exceeds it `boundary' the resultant is an overspill to YANG. Thus, too yin can result in Yang and vice versa. 7.4 This is more of an interest:- In a recent Chinese vampire drama show (ficition show), there was this `fight' between good and evil. The bad vampire in-order to open `a devil's gate; required a pure strong YIN (with 7 stars on her feet) and they need another female. But they could not find one. So, in this fiction show, they found two strong YANG persons which as a result changed the characteristics of themselves to YIN. Where too Yang becomes Yin. (As an example). 7.5 In food, Yin and Yang instead of Five Elements is more commonly used. And it is in this area that Chinese medicine and health related objectives are looked at and perhaps met. Where, steaming, boiling food is considered Yin. And fried, barbequed food are considered Yang. Salty food is considered Yang while water is considered Yin ... etc.. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Alice, Other than thru the use of and interpretation through Pillars of Destiny, or more generally, Chinese astrology, it is best to look elsewhere for an `answer/solution' to this. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Kum Loong, San He Water Theory i.e. San He or known as Mountain Water theory is very much based on Shapes and Form i.e. Water classics concepts. Majority of the concepts are summarised under:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/wcourse.htm I recalled, sometime back Lilian Too wrote a book about Water Dragon Classic or something like that. Perhaps you can check out amazon.com ... Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. Dear Chloe, Yes, it is best to avoid placing a bagua mirror facing inside the house. In my opinion, you could place two potted plants on both sides of the main door entrance. But if the plants does block the walkway, then do not place the plants. I feel that a crystal ball would not help the situation. Overall, for now I am too sure how the two doors `interact'. But, since they do not create any poison arrows or sha qi, perhaps, you need not place any objects at these sectors. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Anon, Breadwinner refers to:- 1. When assessing a home, the breadwinner can be said to be the person who brings in the most money to the household. 2. If there are two `breadwinners' and each contributes to half of the money for the household, then usually, for computation purposes, it would have to be the male or the husband who should be considered the `breadwinner'. 3. The `breadwinner' need not be the owner of the home. It can be someone renting the home and in this case, we look for a `breadwinner' i.e. the person who pays the rental and earns the most in the home (rental). In this case, for assessment of the home (both homes), you can use your sister's particulars since she is ultimately the breadwinner of (both houses). If your house has been built under Period 7 or this current period, a house with double 7's is considered good or auspicious for such a house. If a house was built under Period 6; then, a double 6 is considered good or auspicious. Colours are secondary in Feng Shui. Overall, the house especially the living room area should be more yang or brighter. Use colours that are not dark. In my opinion, earth colours can still be used in the home. Ideally, netural colours are still the best. One can inadvertently activate the earth element, if there is an imbalance caused by #2 and #5 in these sectors. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Cecilia, Usually, I do not `verify' questions especially when a birthdate has been provided. At times, the question would be moved to the conference " Samples that will not receive a proper reply ". I hope you understand that, I not here to do all the homework i.e. someone furnish me a DOB and I have to first, do the calculations or pre-anlysis. Instead, quality time should be spent on analysis or provide advise based on all available information provided to me since there is only 24 hours a day. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. For those who are perhaps new or not too sure what questions would not be answered please browse thru the forum " Samples that will not receive a proper reply ".
  15. Dear Kaushal, #2 = earth #3 = wood In my opinion, it would not be a good idea to use water i.e. a bowl of water as water will enhance #3 or wood. My advise is to use a METAL cure. Here METAL does wonder to neutralising #2 and #3. There are many METAL cures already mentioned in this website. My `favourite' is the use of 6 metal coins. As it has few or little hiccup's associated with some other cures like wind chimes. But cures such as 6 rod hollow wind chimes (may be used) or the use of a pendulum brass/metal clock with it's tick-tock effect are acceptable. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Rae, Frankly, Feng Shui is not so simplistic. It is difficult to achieve a `break thru' by paying homage to a corner i.e. career corner. Or feeling disappointed for some that `my toilet' is in the career sector. In my opinion, it is best not to practise FS in such situations. Usually, many have gone to paying homage to a corner and the end result is to buy items or materials or objects to enhance these sectors. The people who benefit from such `beliefs' are those selling the commercial wares who ultimately make the profit. Under the Eight House Theory, it is usually the time spent at a sector i.e. if a sector is e.g. the death sector but if one does not spent time there, then this is not a real issue. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. Dear Chole, 1. In recent times, generally plants that are not thorny can be used in the home. 2. Green silk plants are acceptable for use in your home. 3. Since many of us live in various parts of the world, it would now not be possible to be very specific about the type of plants one should use. In general, use plants that can i.e. if they are indoor plants, these plants should easily survive in your home - in your country. Try to get plants that are of very little maintenance if possible. Avoid plants that you regularly need to bring into the sunlight. 4. To be more specific, in the `past' plants can be classified into one of the Five elements. As many of us know, use the type of plant that `conform' to the element of harmony at that sector or if plants are used as a cure, or as a controlling element, use the plant with the specific element. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  18. Dear Max, Yes, with proper soil analysis and soil management especially drainage and structurally sound retaining walls, houses built as you had mentioned can be auspicious. Many a times, some of the various reasons below compounded by weather may cause landslides: 1. In many instances, too many houses were built on these hills providing downward pressure on the hill. This is less of an issue if there are no heavy downpours. But if there are heavy downpours, coupled by poor retaining walls or vegetation.. a landslide may be eminent. 2. Ideally, the best hills are those of limestones (hard rocks). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Anon, 1. Feng Shui (earth luck) and other Chinese divinity methods such as Pillars of destiny (Heaven luck) are often looked at in a holistic way. 2. Frankly, there are no quick solutions to understanding your problems. 3. What FS and other Chinese divinity methods are used is to boost one's luck or if it is Pillars of Destiny (to understand one's Heaven map and improve/change some of it). 4. Furthermore, with unemployment either due to structural unemployment or competitiveness (some prefer to employ younger employees)... there are so many other related situations that may have to be looked at. 5. True Feng Shui can only help to improve one's luck. But there are limitations such as e.g. an existing house. In an existing house, or even if one moved house, I feel that the key ingredient in the FS of a house is it's shapes and form. This usually gives either a quantum leap or just one of those average houses. 6. To apply Feng Shui to a `normal or average' house does not guarantee a quantum leap in Feng Shui. 7. Pillars of Destiny, is another avenue used to see our luck period for the current period and it does help if it is correctly applied. 8. However, in my opinion, there is no such thing as finding a corner to pay homage to.. in order to extract `career luck'. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Edwin, Please goto www.geomancy-online.com and use the Free report to generate your element. It will generate your true element. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Rae, If not sure, don't `activate' anything. It is not like buying some objects or items at $500.00 and hoping that one can get back a return of $1,500 or more. The only sensible way to `invest' money is through proper finance schemes or through low risk returns such as Fixed Deposits or Savings Account. Many fall into the trap of "Credit Card Feng Shui". Where, one gets cash advance in the `hope' of getting a return. The only return here is a bill with accumulated interests that loan sharks would only goggle their eyes on. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  22. Dear Angeline, Under macro Feng Shui; for Singapore, which is located in the south, ideal colour of doors especially entrance doors is white or represent the metal element. For your case, I have seen the doors and felt that it is `minor' and in my opinion, will not have any effect on your family. As opposed to the headboard which is symbolic of sleeping in a tomb. Therefore, I personally feel that there is no issue and there is no need to paint the lovely `natural' wood coloured door(s). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Kenny, 1. Under the 20 Year Flying Star analysis, for a house built under Period 7; it is a bonus if there is a 7 7 combination at the main entrance. 2. The base number would also be looked at to find out the degree of auspiciousness of a 7 7 combination house under current Period 7. 3. Under the 20 Year Flying Star analysis, a house will (always) remain under that period if no major renovations were done in the period. For example, For a Period 6 house; that house will continue to enjoy 6 6 combinations under Period 6 provided there is no major renovations carried out anytime afterwards. Thus a Period 6 house with double 77 combinations will still have this birth chart even under Period 7, Period 8 or Period 9 so long as there are no major renovations. For a Period 7 house. This is the same situation. A Period 7 house with double 7 7 will remain so during period 7 and even under Period 8, 9 & restart at 1,2,3,4 etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil
  24. Dear Tom, Further to what I mentioned earlier, here are some other considerations:- 1. Symbolism is important in Feng Shui. I am not sure about natural crysals or gemstones but the shape preceeds material used. For example, for a piece of wood shaped like a pyramid, although its natural element is wood; but because it has taken the form of a pyramid, it should now be classified as a `fire element'. Alternatively, the piece of wood has been shaped like a pyramid and painted red. Here, red = fire element would also make it as a fire element. 2. Traditional Feng Shui is all about the Five elements concept: Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal elements. Although, the methology or methods used may differ greatly by the various Traditional Feng Shui school, the way the five elements is used should be similar. The application depends on how well, the FS school knows how to apply the Five Elements concept. 3. Thus, we come to the point: each material or object can be classified under a specific element in Feng Shui. Although there may be differing views on classification of materials, one cannot discount the fact that i.e. cyrstals (or geniune crystals) come from the earth. Some FS practioners may have slightly differing views and could perhaps classify it as water element. But, in my opinion, it is most likely considered the " Earth element " especially if it is the raw material. 4. What is the difference here? Why mention Earth element? Unfortunately under Flying Star Feng Shui, the two most `fearful' numberology numbers are #5 and #2. 4.1 #5 and #2 are both EARTH elements 4.2 #5 is known as misfortune. 4.3 #2 is known as sickness. 5. Since cyrstal or such rocks or gems could be classified as EARTH elements, many professional FS practitioners are more cautious about giving advice such as using crystals or gemstones as cures. 6. It would be different if these `crystals' or gemstones or artifical stones are moulded into objects that result in them symbolising an object. 7. Thus, it would be fine or acceptable if these EARTH objects are made into dragon figurine or say a tortise paper weight. Here, under symbolism, instead of being representing the EARTH element, they are now symbolically represent an item. It is thus common for FS practitioners to advise the use e.g. crystal dragons or a marble torties paper weight to add to the mountain star (when it is found) at an appropriate location. 8. In Flying Star charts, we can find at each sector (there are 9 sectors in total):- # mountain star + # water star -------------------------- on a base number 9. Since there are nine sectors, the #5 can appear in say the mountain star # at NE and it can also appear in another sector as a #water star. There is also the base number #5 to watch. Similiarly we have to watch out #2. Hopefully, if they can be `concentrated' in one sector e.g. NE such that #5 #5 5 Would be nice. But unfortunately, what happens if #5 is scattered all over the 9 grids? This would mean that instead of applying just one 6 coins (metal cure) to neutralise #5s; we now may have to apply metal cure to many sectors. Furthermore, here, the chance of placing too much earth i.e. crystal could result in more bad earth. 9. My opinion, is that if one collects crystals /gemstones, it is more for the love of collecting them and not to base it on FS. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  25. Dear Tom, A warm welcome to the forum. Please see below:- Frankly, Feng Shui is used to: 1. neutralise any bad effects (from the land) 2. enhance beneficial Qi. Basically, it is used to assess "the earth". Therefore, when it concerns Feng Shui, it does not have a special signifiance to it. Thus Shapes and Form Feng Shui, is about assessment of the land i.e. landscape or city, site / building and unit. Compass School Feng Shui especially Flying Star Feng Shui - uses cures if there is an imbalance at a particular sector. Since most of the bad elements are of wood element i.e. #3 #4 and bad metal elements #5 and #2; usually the most common cures is the use of METAL cures. For Sha Qi i.e. under Shapes and Form Feng Shui, for example if there is a lone lamp post facing a window, a FS practitioner may advise the placement of a fish tank. Here, the components of the Fish Tank are: Gold fish = metal element; water = water element these are used to neutralise the lone lamp post. Based on the Five Elements concept. For crystals, this belong more to the `commercialised "Feng Shui" sites. Sites that claim the special significance of crystals. Usually, the characteristics of such " Feng Shui sites " posts lots of material goods or wares for sale. More importantly, the sale of crystals should not be in my opinion, associated with a `special' significance with Feng Shui or ride on it. But in terms of appreciation of crystals, this I believe is a totally different issue. I would like to honestly (based on my opinion) that based on what I mentioned above, Feng Shui or its established practise is `geared' for the analysis of `the earth' i.e. the landscape, site etc... In the past, it applied at a macro level, such as finding good sites for a city or locations of rest (tombs); and palaces. Most of the FS masters, half-geologist etc... and they really examine the soil and examine water positions to find suitable and stable sites. Thus, its purpose is simply to look at the land and how, man who encroach on it, can live in harmony with it. FS therefore does not have a set of rules for harvesting gems or precious stones. This would be best left to the engineers and geologists and specialised equipments/expertise to handle. I hope, I did not disappoint you on the above. Warmest Regards, Cecil
