  1. Dear Marianne, The fixed Ba Gua template was invented in the mind of one person. Please read the article on him:- http://www.qi-whiz.com/confess.html In traditional Feng Shui, it is advisable not to use fixed templates. There are two Compass School methods: Eight House and Flying Star. An illustration on the use of the Eight House theory is available under: htt://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm Overall, I see that you are trying to apply the `fixed template' which is not practised in the East e.g. China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Far East countries like Malaysia and Singapore. In my opinion, the `method' you had mentioned should not be used. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Eileen, A warm welcome to the forum! The key issue for a home at the end of a cul de sac is: protect, protect & protect! If you can draw a simple (to scale sketch) of your location plan and surrounding i.e. nearby houses and the back of the home. It would be good as I can have a better picture of your home as it is difficult to give advise based on the description. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  4. Dear Jose, In my opinion, some FS practitioners may immediately comment... " nonsense " or " rubbish " on the placment of Ba Gua mirrors. Usually, these are western FS practitioners. In the east, such as Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Far East i.e. Singapore, Malaysia, many FS practitioners do ask their clients to use Ba Gua mirrors. In many of the past messages, the usage is for : 1. To ward off evil. Here, many of the FS practitioners may have a religion e.g. Toaism or Buddhist and these group of FS practitioners are the most likely ones who not only ask their customers to place Ba Gua mirrors but also `charms' with them to ward off evil. In fact, there are many who simply prefer their clients to place a simple around 6-8 inch mirror with a yellow charm. Rather than use the Ba Gua " First Heaven Sequence" Trigram. 2. To deflect `Sha qi'. Such as e.g. a neighbour placing a sample `altar' e.g. Thai altar which directly faces their main entrance door. 3. Another concept is that the Chinese `fear' straight paths e.g. a long straight corridor. The rationale here is because, they fear that `ghosts' or `spirits' go on a straight path or line. Therefore, it is always best to have winding paths etc... In your case, my advise is that if you want to place a Ba Gua above your main door, it is best to place it away from the home i.e. not to face inwards of the house. But rather, place it facing away from the interior of the home. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Sumatra, 1. To side-track, for those who are interested in some pictures or short write ups on `The Sterling' which is a condominium in a triangle plot, feel free search for the above topic under the conference: Photo Tours of Interest with Pictures. Use the " SEARCH " feature under this Forum to search for " Sterling ". This is one exceptional traingle plot that has some units that have excellent Feng Shui. 2. For a triangle plot of land, if it is pointy at the backyard, usually, a lamp is placed at the pointy area to difuse the triangle. 3. Landscaping. For example, semi-circular or landscaped area where one can grow different types of plants within the landscaped area (is another option). This curvy landscaped area at each ends of the pointer can diffuse the triangle. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear SL, Further to what I wrote earlier, looking at `Qi' at the main entrance area and whether to place the reception counter at the centre; right or left wall is an interesting subject. In my opinion, a good Shapes and Form FS expert, would need to visit the site and through feel, could provide the appropriate advice on the above. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear SL, One of the best illustrative books (with lots of pictures and well written book is by Derek Walters. Although his work is not like those by recent authors, one can flavour lots of `five element concepts' from this book if one reads careful. The ENGLISH book I mentioned is: Title: FENG SHUI Description: Perfect Placing for your happiness and prosperity by Derek Walters. Publisher: ASIAPAC Books ISBN 9971-985-21-7 In this book he has devised an English version of the Luopan where one use it to do FS audit. I highly recommend the other Book " Feng Shui Handbook " which has the essence of Five Elements. Unlike other authores he does not suggest out of the whim suggest cures but rather he gives a good grounding of the Five elements concept. By now, I think his book is harder to obtain in local bookstores. One can either purhcase it thru ASiapac Books or search Amazon.com or other online book stores or ask them to get a copy for you. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. If you want Chinese (Mandarin) books on Chinese Luopan i.e. there are TONS of them out there especially Hong Kong versions.
  8. Dear SL, Please see below:- 1. You brought up an interesting question:) 2. In many of the audits I have done for company executies e.g. CEOs, CFOs etc... the audits are done mainly at their requests. Here, usually, the audit is done in their interest or individual interests. 3. Be it a CEO, a CFO, Senior Manager etc... The motivate is more for their own good i.e. progess, promotion etc.. For example, a Bank Vice President, had asked for a FS audit to look at the placement of his work table. Previously e.g. his work table in his room was oriented in another direction. But because of FS advice, it was positioned in a separate direction. With the hope that he can e.g. progess in his career. 4. Usually, as mentioned early although a CEO says that he would like an audit to benefit the company, in fact, (directly) the implication is that the person calling for the audit; wants to have their work place favourable to them. Therefore, the company can be a family business, private company or a listed company; FS audit can be done in `secret' e.g. on a Sunday or other days where staff may not be around or be aware of. Yes, you have asked a relevant question. http://www.geomancy.net/fs/ruler.htm Under the above link, I have also shared some points with regards to measurements... Partial quote from the above url: "I understand that most users will ask this question: Is it important to follow Feng Shui measurements? Lets look at these points:- In the present day, there are many furniture designers and furniture makers. It is not possible to use the measurements on the Feng Shui ruler. Even if som e furniture makers are aware of it, they may not believe in Feng Shui. Most of us are not able to custom design home furnitures. Even if we do, we may only custom design e.g. built in cupboards but not possible for every furniture in the home e.g. dining table, sitting room table and chairs etc... So what should we do? I like to point out there are a few Schools of Thoughts regarding this matter:- (1). Some Feng Shui Masters may say... use your six sense or the " Intuitive " form of Feng Shui and buy what you like and " meets " your needs. This is a sensible approach and the most practical in today's world. Simply go get what you like. I agree with this. (2). Some Feng Shui designers (through their learning of Feng Shui) have incorporated some Feng Shui friendly features e.g. furniture with `rounded' corners. Do note: not "wavy" furniture as in the water element but furnitures that are `suppose' not to give off poision arrows from it's edges. I also agree with this. This is equally acceptable as most of us do read about poision arrows from nearly every FS website to nearly every FS books. You can consider the use of Feng Shui dimensions as `secondary' importance to Feng Shui. In fact, today, because of commercialisation of Feng Shui so little has been paid to Feng Shui dimensions i.e. what can you earn from teaching FS dimensions? ........ " There is no general answers to this. The layout plan has to be looked at closely in relation to Feng Shui (Shapes and Form and Compass School). For example, for some office frontage it is best to locate the reception area on one side i.e. when we open the door to the reception area, the reception area is located on either the left (wall) or the right (wall). This is to ensure that the full Qi goes into the office area. In some of the above situations, placing the reception area at the middle where there is a left and right entrance may split the Qi into the office area. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear SL, No, it depends. This is the rationale, why, I suggested for a `proportinate' sketch or layout plan. Without a proper sketch, it is not easy to comment whether to superimpose a 9 grid or to assess it as an `L' shaped home. For an `L' shaped home even if we separate it into two rectangles; it may be quite trickly for some to find out what is the direction of the main entrance and whether to use to directions (different) grids for each rectangle or superimpose identical grids to both triangles. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Christina, In the bedroom; it is always best to sleep based on good Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. Sleeping with feet facing a good direction is considered `nice to have' or secondary after good Shapes and Forms has been met. In your situation, you can still sleep with your feet facing a good direction, if you can place e.g. a low linen cabinet at the foot of the bed. Here, it is like a divider. (This is subject to space constraints.) Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Sylvia, Yes, one interesting thing about `Shapes and Form' FS is that plants/trees are indeed a good indicator of the `health' of a sector. In my opinion, if plants (potted or grown on the ground) are often flowering etc... this is indeed a very good sign:) Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. You are about to get on a bus for a trip. Which of the following seats will you choose to sit on? 1)A front seat on the driver's side 2)A back seat on the driver's side 3)A front seat on the entrance side 4)A back seat on the entrance side Here's your analysis.................. A front seat on the driver's side You are keen to know other's matters. Besides, you choose the front seat, it means you are energetic and always lead the team. You will always tell your team where to go and you will be dissatisfied if you do not get to lead the team. That's why others leave this job to you. A back seat on the driver's side You can take care of all members in the group very well. You make sure that everybody gets his or her plates during mealtime. You act like a caring mother all the time. A front seat on the entrance side You are more concerned with yourself rather than with others. As you choose to sit on the front, you are quick-witted and will always have gags to make people laugh or have questions for them to think. If you are absent, all members will be bored. A back seat on the entrance side You are more concerned with yourself rather than with others. Superficially, you are a quiet and imaginative person. As you choose to sit at the back, you can converse with your friends although you do not talk a lot. You are treated to stay at the seat like a child. There was a murder in your town. Four suspects were arrested. Until now there is still no evidence to settle the case. In your opinion, who is likely to be the murderer? 1) A professor working in a university 2) A cartoon writer 3) A popular singer 4) A women who is doing a part-time job Here's the analysis................ A professor working in a university You seem to like reading rumors in magazines and tabloids. You are determined to succeed in your study and career. A cartoon writer You had a dream when you were young. For you, having friends is important, so you have a lot of close friends who share the same dream and interest. You and your life companion have similar personalities. A popular singer Your heart searches for imagination and you often think about love. You take it seriously both when you are in love and when you are disappointed of love. A women who is doing a part-time job It is common for you to imagine that you will have a happy marriage and wonderful kids. You are expecting your family to be like a happy family in the soap operas. "Dad is already home, mum," said the kids in a cheerful voice. You want that kind of warmth in your family. Suppose you were Cinderella. When the clock reached midnight, you ought to leave the party. What item will you leave at the party to allow the prince to meet you again? 1)Photo album 2)Diamond ring 3)Crystal shoe 4)Pager Here's the analysis................. Photo album You wouldn't give him a clue on how to understand you better. You are very direct, hot-tempered and authoritative. And he must listen and obey to what you say. If you can find someone who understands your true nature, the relationship will go on. Diamond ring The ring represents an invisible tie of relationship. You have an ability to control your husband. You often pretend to stay close to him in public just to beautify the image, but you don't pay much attention to him when you are with him in private. Manipulating him is good, right? Crystal shoe You tend to adopt traditional roles of a fine woman. You listen to what your husband tell you attentively and enjoy being guided and led by him. Pager You will never expect to control your boyfriend or husband. Your boyfriend and you will take turns to make decision and the decision is often acceptable to both of you. Whatever you want to let him know, you can just tell him straightforwardly. This is a good relationship, a pretty modern one. It's the commencement day at your school. You and your boyfriend might not be able to see each other again in the future. What will you give to him as a present? 1)Perfume 2)Scarf (made by yourself) 3)Shoes 4)CD (that he would like to have) Here's the analysis.............. Perfume You are interested in the opposite sex. Though you have already got a guy you like, you still date with other guys. Is that right? Scarf (made by yourself) You have strong attitudes towards things. You often manipulate a story you've heard. It is not completely lying. But you just add things to what you have heard and retell it in a different way. Shoes You are unhappy with what you already had. CD (that he would like to have) You like equality. When you choose a present you first consider what his preference. You are an attractive woman who cares much about your appearance. You always want to look good in public, so you dress very well. These don't match your boyfriend's style sometimes.
  13. I believe this is for FUN!
  14. There are quite alot of advise provided both grand mother stories or other methods. This doc. file is in two parts: Part 1:- Someone has provided `6 factors' on how one can try to influence the choice of a baby. Part 2:- Some of you have already got to know of this method, which a Chinese scientist discovered and drew the chart which was buried in a Royal tomb about 700 years ago...
  15. This is an interesting sketch, draw perhaps by an asian (Asian fliar) but is romance similar all round the world? What type can you identify with?
  16. Dear Anon, 1. It would be great if you can draw an outline or sketch of your home for me to take a look. 2. From your description below, it seems that you can treat the home as two rectangles. However, if you need me to locate the centrepoint, you can attach a sketch. I will be glad to pinpoint what I feel is the centrepoint. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. Dear SL, 1. Is this company a family business i.e. where the `owner' is the MD? Please see below:- The office main entrance can still be 3 feet wide. Length (CM) Potent Remarks 0 to 5.4 Good Fortune 5.5 to 10.7 Bad Sickness 10.8 to 16.1 Bad Divorce 16.2 to 21.4 Good Fairness 21.5 to 26.8 Good Promotion 26.9 to 32.1 Bad Theft 32.2 to 37.5 Bad Accident 37.5 to 42.9 Good Origin It is good to keep the main entrance within the favourable dimenons of the multiple of the above. Here, even if the main entrance is can still be of an auspicious dimension. If the MD is the owner, it is very good if the main entrance door direction is favourable to him. Ideally, it would be good to have the signage directly above the main entrance (if possible). However, it can still be at the side wall. This is still acceptable. Usually, this requires analysis such as the MD's Ba Zi or Ba Zi Feng Shui and other methods such as the Flying Star analysis. The reception counter is another crucial factor in the office. This is because, in some instances, a reception counter at the centre could `split' the `Luck Qi' into two or become divided when it `enters' the main entrance. Feng Shui for the frontage of the office is unike the home. The wrong position of the reception counter could mean `inauspiciousness'. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  18. Dear SL, 1. In my opinion, and from what you had related, it would normally not the norm to take the direction of the gate to the building to determine the compass direction i.e. one of the 15degree increments needed in the Flying Star analysis. 2. Sometimes taking the reading of the `gate' may perhaps indicated that the person (FS master) may be looking at the `frontage' (which is not necessarily the front door) or if the practitioner has difficulty in locating the front main entrance. 3. It is my believe that, in most instances, FS practitioners would normally determine the compass direction of your front main entrance and then plot the Flying Star. As you mentioned, this is usually the standard practise. 4. As we are not sure what is the collective system used by the practitioner or that we do not at this moment know his process; it would be best not to second guess.. his/her technique. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Miss Quiss, This year, it is advisable not to renovate at South South East or 150 degrees (Tai Su) and the location in conflict i.e. East ... If you are doing renovation at the area, it is best to avoid, being around when the work is carried out at the East. The above is just consideration. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Linda, Under the Eight House theory: 1. For the breadwinner look out for the main entrance (sector) and the bedroom where the breadwinner / spouse sleeps in. 2. For other family members especially your daughter, look out for the intangible force affecting her in the bedroom. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. An intriguing article that explores the concept of what constitutes 'true peace.' A depiction of tranquility... Once, a monarch announced a competition for the artist who could create the finest representation of peace. Numerous artists participated, and the king reviewed all the submissions. Ultimately, he found himself drawn to two particular works, necessitating a choice between them. The first artwork portrayed a serene lake, which served as a flawless reflection of the majestic mountains surrounding it. Above, a clear blue sky adorned with fluffy white clouds completed the idyllic scene. Viewers unanimously regarded this piece as the epitome of peace. The second artwork also featured mountains, but these were rugged and stark. An ominous sky loomed overhead, unleashing rain and flashes of lightning. A tumultuous waterfall cascaded down the mountainside, presenting a stark contrast to the notion of tranquility. However, upon closer inspection, the king noticed a small bush nestled in a crevice behind the waterfall. Within this bush, a mother bird had constructed her nest. Amidst the chaos of the rushing water, the mother bird sat on her nest, embodying perfect peace. Which artwork do you believe received the prize? The king awarded the second piece. He explained, "True peace does not imply the absence of noise, challenges, or labor. Rather, it signifies maintaining calmness within one's heart despite the surrounding turmoil. This is the true essence of peace."
  22. That killer outfit you just brought home from the dry cleaners really can kill you, experts warn. That's because perchloroethylene (perc), the chemical used by most dry cleaners, has been linked to a multitude of health woes - including cancer. "Perc is an effective cleaner; but it's also extremely toxic. It enters the body through the skin and respiratory system, is stored in the fatty tissues and stays with you for a long time". Perc has been classified as a dangerous chemical for years and studies have shown exposure to it increases the risk of bladder and esophageal cancer; asthma and reproductive problems. People who work in or live near dry cleaners are most at risk, but simple contact with freshly dry-cleaned clothes can expose you to unhealthy levels of perc. People who wear freshly dry-cleaned clothes just once a week inhale enough perc to increase their risks of cancer! But there are some simple measures you can take to protect yourself. First, reduce the use of dry cleaning as much as possible. Many clothes labeled 'dry clean only' don't need it. Careful washing- either by hand or in the washing machine can, in most cases, help you avoid both the expense and the danger of dry cleaning. For clothing that must go to the dry cleaners, offered these tips: 1) Look for a cleaner who does "wet cleaning" - a new method that uses water and non-toxic soap instead of perc 2) Tell your cleaner about specific stains. If they know what caused a stain, they can treat it with fewer chemicals. 3) When you bring a dry-cleaned item home, remove the plastic wrap and let the garment air out in a well-ventilated area for a few days to safely remove most of the perc.
