Dear Jen, If this is just a small plant and a one-time activity, it’s fine to do. Unless it’s something that will go on for a long time—which it isn’t. I think you should go ahead. Some people suggest putting a piece of metal between this area and your home, but I don’t think it’s needed. As long as you do it yourself, it’s OK. Don’t bring in bulldozers, that wouldn’t be good. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Yum Chinn, 6. The main idea here is to compare this to an examination. 6.1 Many of us have taken exams where we had to answer 4 required questions. 6.2 The goal is to get as many marks as possible. If there are 4 compulsory questions and 100 marks in total, each question is worth 25 marks. 6.3 In exams, we should not only answer 3 questions. If the exam lasts 2 hours, we should spend 30 minutes on each question. 6.4 Teachers often say that if we only answer three questions and skip the fourth, we might fail. But if we try the fourth question, we can still earn some marks. 7. So, judging a home as “do…

Hi. I have three questions about my room: 1. I am thinking of putting a loft bed into my room to save space. My room is on the South-East corner of my house, it has one window facing south and another window facing East. The bed can only go in the south-east corner of the room, where it will be in front of the East facing window. This will cut off some of the light, but as I work nights and sleep days, that is not a bad thing. Are there any Feng Shui rules about Loft beds I should know? 2. Also I have three pet garter snakes I keep in a terrarium in my room. What sort of effect do they have on Feng Shui? I have read articles aboutfish and Feng Shui, but there is little…

Dear Anon, There is some truth in this statement. 1. It is best to keep or concentrate pumbing to one side of the house: 1.1. For the developers, it is easier to build. (Although this is not our main concern here). 1.2. Many good houses have the above characteristics. Even many `good' buildings reserve e.g. a corner of the building for the pantry area, the male and female toilet is at this corner of the house. 1.3. The next important characteristics is to have the water position share an external wall. Here, this simply means that if the toilet shares an external wall it can never be at the centrepoint of the house. 1.4. In my opinion, it is not so much of preventing the …

Dear Carla, CARLA MILLER wrote: I have found several homes that I really like but the Feng Shui for the house number is incompatible to me. Is there anyway the negative chi of a house number can be reversed (like adding a letter A or B) in order to be more positive for the owner? House Number has least overall impact over the house compared to the external shapes and form and interior feng shui. There are many ways to view the house number analysis. ie some people dislike house number with number 4, however, there are some people who don't mind the number 4. Therefore, a house number doesn't ha…

Dear Anon, I believe, Patalying Jaya refers to the area near or around Kualau Lumpur (the Capital of Malaysia). Malaysia's Cyber Hub is located around this location. Perhaps, this is why you may have heard of it. I am not sure if the spelling is correct or my description exact. But overall you can consider it as a location within Kualau Lumpur. Personally, there is not much significance in the area as compared to Penang, also a `district' of Malaysia where predominantly Chinese stay. You can treat Kualau Lumpur or Penang as equvalent of the definition such as Texas, New York in USA. But these locations are much smaller. If you are staying in Malaysia, perhaps ca…

Hi, Frankly, this is usually considered too insignificant to be a major concern in Feng Shui—the influence is simply too minor. It’s similar to the idea of using an imperial Frankly, this is usually considered too minor to be a big concern in Feng Shui—the influence is very small. It’s like using special measurements or a Feng Shui ruler, but for most people, it’s not practical to buy custom furniture, such as tables, just to get lucky sizes. While Feng Shui recommends furniture with good measurements, what should we do when shopping? Many practical Feng Shui experts say to trust your own feelings. Hello master Lee, I am designing a house and I have this question from you: Is it ok to put washing machine (laundry) in southeast sector, with fixed flying stars 4-8-5? Is it also ok to have a door (to garden, for bringing clean laundry out)? This is not a good sector for us, since we both are west group people. The house is facing southwest, period 9. Thank you very much

Dear Christine, Appreciate if you can give us a better idea the reason why you are worried about your kitchen in the North East. More importantly, priority should be given to the Kitchen based on the Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui. For example, the stove should have a solid back and not against a window. Since the stove is on the north wall, it can still be located at the north wall. However, the only caution here is that since it is at the north wall, you should not place a water position facing the stove. The sink can be at the west wall. Again it should not too close to any fire element and keep a distance for it. Other than the above, I believe there is no issue …

Hello master, I want to ask you which is a better place for dining room? A good sector according to 8 mansions Sheng Qi (also Sheng Qi for husband, and Tien Yi for wife) with bad flying stars 6(mountain) 6 3(water) (it is the southwest sector, and I put a fireplace there) or a bad sector according to 8 mansions Huo Hai (also Huo Hai for husband, and Wu Gui for wife) with good flying stars 8(mountain) 4 1(water) (it is the south sector, and stove is also there)? Does it make any harm to be a fireplace (electric one) in Sheng Qi sector? Thank you very much

Dear Anon, The convent is considered a Yin location where e.g. a `depository' such as problems etc... This would account for some like yourself who has a dislike for the facing direction. You can for e.g. have a barrier e.g. fencing with plants to shield your home from the view of the convent. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Spring, Traditional Chinese customs does not have a "Tai Sui" talisman i.e. they are not called Grand Duke nor Tai Sui talisman. However, there are some standard charms to be placed above doors (purpose? To ward off evil). The blessed charms are obtained usually from Taoist priests. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear HK Don, hk don wrote: For applying a cure on a three storey terrance house for a given sector (say NW), do we need to put the samecure on every floor or just the ground floor or top floor? Pls advise. Thanks Generally, the best way is to always use colour scheme to balance up the room and minimise the use of cures. This is the most efficient and effective way. However, where there is no other option, then a cure at the right sector may be necessary. Depending on the severity, if really very unbalanced, then having a cure on different level is ok. Else, just fix up the more important rooms (ie bedrom, living room, main door etc).…

Hi, I understand why you’re concerned. From your description, it sounds like the park behind your home probably doesn’t have water but is mostly flat. Here are a few things to keep in mind: 1. You can create a solid “backing” behind your house by putting up a fence. Good fencing options include brick walls, fences with creepers, fences with bushes in between, or fences with privacy strips like those used in army camps, as well as wooden plank fences for added privacy. 2. Adding a few medium-sized trees (not large ones) behind the house can also be helpful. 3. This isn’t about Feng Shui, but ideally, the park shouldn’t be a playground where ball games are p…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Please advise is there a general guide line to choose a date for shifting house? What should I look out for when I'm trying to determine the date? Or is there a general calender for the whole year which should which date is good for shifting? In general, there are a few ways of checking to determine a good date:- 1. If you do not plan to use a tung shu / alamac calendar or ba zi, then most will agree that 1st or 15th day of the lunar calendar is often considered an auspicious date in general. 2. If you at least have a tung shu / alamac calendar, you can look for dates which is stated to be generally auspicious. In general, these should be …

Dear Tervino, It boils down to time factor:- 1. If one analyses the Eight House Theory carefully, it only considers the YEAR of birth. 2. Thus the Kua numbers under the Eight House Theory takes into consideration house directions based on YEAR of birth. 3. Pillars of Destiny, uses the YEAR, MONTH, DAY and TIME of birth. More advanced Pillars of Destiny considers two more pillars : Pillars of Life and Conception. Here, the final result or one's final element is considered `more' accurate than the one based on Kua numbers under the Eight House. Thus, in reality, one's Pillars of Destiny's element is theoritically more accurate because of this. Warmest Regards, Cecil

I have 3 friends stay at the property name called 'The Rivervale' 1 facing punggol park, 1 facing the temple and another one is facing the Swimming pool. The husband staying at the one facing punggol park and temple died at mid age (around 43) and the one facing swimming pool is alway sick. Any big problem of the Feng Shui there, anyway can solve? In my opinion, it is best to seek expert advise, as no two units even on different levels are the same. Coincidentally, another development (a few km away from The Rivervale) called "The Rivervale Crest" condo has some problems, also:- 1. Please see my forum posting on Tue, 29 Jul 2003, 06:39 AM "2. Hi Anon, Actually,a house should best fit the breadwinner. If the house fits the breadwinner, it also means that the rest of the family will benefit from the luck of the breadwinner since he earns a living for the entire family. The rest of the family does not need to have the entrance or frontage of the house to fit them individually. As long as, each of the family members have a suitable bedroom in which they draw luck from. So that means that it does not mean that each family member must enter the house using a different entrance (or the entrance that fit them individually). This isn't how this concept should be applied. Feng shui shouldn't be making your life mise…

1. Yes, one may /could skip the First Time Open Door procedure and just do the move in ritual. 2. For this year; Take note the following sectors:- Grand Duke this year is East, 90 Degree. In addition, Misfortune/Sickness Star this year is also at East - Avoid sitting facing the grand duke or disturbing him by having renovations. Location in Conflict is West. - Avoid having renovations done opposite the location in conflict. 3. This year, it is not wise ESPECIALLYeven if one wants to dosimple renovations particularly at EAST. Given that both Grand Duke (Tai Sui) and Five Yellow (Misfortuen/Sickness) star is at that location. http://www.geomancy.net/resources/yearly-…
