Dear Jim, There are two ways at looking at having a fish tank: 1. For enjoyment. 2. `Reading' from somewhere and buying a fish tank and hoping for something auspicious to happen. Jokingly, I remembered seeing the title of a book " What they don't teach you in Harvard Here it is the same thing with fish tank. " You may end up with more than one can bargain for with fish tanks ". Is it better off not knowing FS? Usually, when one purchase a fish tank, we normally would have visualised a location in our home to place the fish tank. In most instances, it is usually at one side of the wall and not the centre of the house. In fact, intution plays an important part especial…

Dear Master Lee, Thank you for your prompt reply. Cecil L. wrote: 7. I read somewhere that Pakua mirror is usually used for Poison Arrow cures but in this case its the windows- I just thought Pakua mirror doesn't seem appropriate here .... Would appreciate your advice. Thanks ! 7.2 I've attached a photo shot of the actual window view of the said offending building structures…

Dear Anon, This has more to do with Chinese beliefs than Feng Shui. There is therefore differences of opinion between those who choose to keep the birds caged and those who are against it. Keeping even a pair of live birds is to some Chinese, not a good thing because, it signifies cruelty i.e. akin to imprisoning the birds. The belief is that birds should be `born free'. 1. Usually, the most visual concern is that of the visible roof and spine of the church. Usually the spine is usually the christian cross signage. 2. Here, the most common issue is if one were to stand in the apartment and can see the pointed roof or the spine, then this could be a sha qi. 3. Sometimes, even the roof of the house next to the church or if it has a tv antennae pose a threat; not to say that only the church may pose a threat.

Dear Anon, For your question on " Is it necessary to hang it "; I have mentioned in detail under the last message " Does pakua needs to be prayed upon in order for it to be effect. In the above reply, I have mentioned that there are two main uses of the Ba Gua mirror: 1. To deflect poison arrow. 2. To ward off evil spirits. I have dealth in detail the above. Please see below:- 1. The most important point to remember is to hang it according to the First Heaven Sequence formation. Info about the First Heaven Sequence is found at http://www.geomancy.net/fs/pakua.htm 2. One more point is that it should not be hang inside the house. It should be hang facing out of the hou…

Hi, If you are mentioning that the roof above your own home has a pointed roof, in this situation, it is not a poison arrow. It then becomes a poison arrow to the opposite house if it is on the same `level' and when it points towards the main door of the neighbour's house. I hope, I got your question correctly. Warmest Regards Cecil

These are some of the considerations:- 1. A partition need not necessarily be "air-tight". Many acceptable partitions have see through design. 2. Often it is considered not to use reflective glass facing the main door for two reasons:- 2.1. Symbolically, if the glass is highly reflective and facing the main door; one may inadvertently "reflect one's weath" out of the main door. 2.2. For some, when opening the door, one can see one's reflection (shadow) on the partition and some may think that there is "someone" in the apartment. 2.3. Often, some may use sand-blasted or opaque film at the main door side. While the inner side can still be a reflective surface. 3. For asthet…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: i live on the first floor and someone else lives on the 2nd floor. his bathroom and mine are not alligned and they are in diffent places. Would the bagua area that contains the location of his bathroom affect 1st floor's feng shui ? Thank you Yes, the toilet especially if it is located above will definately affect you. The most common reason is that what happen if the toilet leaks, your room below will be the first one affected by the sewage water dripping down etc. Secondly, the toilet is said to have the most dirty qi within the whole house, so of course having a toilet closeby especially above you. This is similiar to having the toilet lo…

Dear Tristan, 1. In some divorce cases, it is advisable to check that Qi does not flow from the main entrance door and exit directly through the windows. In my opinion, there are higher rates of divorce under Para 1 (especially landed properties). 2. In your case, it is difficult to provide further comments as each house is different and as FS is a holistic method, it involves looking at your Pillars of Destiny, your home birth chart (Flying Star) etc... Thus I am unable to comment further than the above. 3. However, other than Shapes and Form Feng Shui, each house can be different for different owners i.e. it may not be suitable for the earlier couple but could be suit…

Hi Cecil Thanks for your advice. Currently, the water feature is on a separate table at a lower level than where the Kuan Yin is seated. As suggested, I will try to place a lotus leaf (real or artificial) in the water feature as well. Thanks.

Dear Anon, I believe these are `modern' books. We are aware that charcoal can be used to neutralise odour e.g. in a fridge. Perhaps, those who recommended using coal is on the same concept e.g. to `absorb'... something... Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi, This is a good question. What we must understand in Feng Shui is that the " frontage " of the house is very important. This is where natural light enters the house especially through the windows. The test is to stand inside the house and even with some curtains hanging at the windows (at the open position), you should have sufficient light to read in the house especially in the daytime and during normal hours and an average day. Here, you should not be unduly worried if it is a `stormy' day and you see a `dark' house. Alternatively, in the above senario, you should also be aware that this is also the side of the house where it is `presented' to the public ie. it is d…

Dear Anon, Applying Feng Shui is also very similar to taking an examination. For example, many of us can remember having to take say an examination that requires us to answer 4 questions out of 10 questions. Here, many of us would recall our teachers teaching us examination techniques. And the advise by our teacher is to try to attempt to answer all 4 questions instead of only 3. For example, in the past, how many of us do not allocate time for each question. Thus in a 2 hour paper, and if we need to answer 4 questions, this means that we should allocate 30 minutes for each question. How many of us do not do this and as a result, managed to answer only 3 questions and…

Dear Sharlene, Usually this term is used under Flying Star Feng Shui. Under Ba Zi, the equivalent is quite close to"nobleman" luck or indirect luck. So general, it ecompass anything to do with "indirect" luck such as luck for say the woman of the home - in her career luck. And often, it also refers to "indirect" luck that give rise to financial success. For example, the breadwinner is/was able to purchase stocks that "suddenly" rise in value etc.. Or a business opportunity out-of-the-bluethat brought alot of $$$ to the breadwinner. Warmest Regards, Cecil Sharlene Soh wrote: Dear Master, Could you please elaborate what is indirect spirit? Dear Cecil and Robert, I am having such difficulty with the placement of my furniture; especially the bedroom. taking compass direction seems to be difficult. This is because I've read that directions are measured by degrees. My questions are... Where do I place my bed? My auspicious directions are NORTHWEST, NORTHEAST, SOUTHWEST, and WEST. As I have tried to situate my bed. It is definitely impossible. Although I have a bedroom measurements of 11'- 4" X 14" - 6" I CAN'T SEEM TO GET THE PLACEMENT CORRECT. The WEST is a WALK IN CLOSET and the ENTRANCE to my BEDROOM. NORTHWEST is DIRECTLY BEHIND the DOOR. SOUTHWEST is the CORNER of the WALK-IN CLOSET, AND NORTHEAST is adjac…

Hi, This is really a none issue under Traditional Feng Shui practise. You can consider the " role of tassels " generally under `customs or supersition ' and not Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil
