Dear Anooja, For both mountain and water star, one has to look carefully at the sector to see if it can be activated. For MS8, if it is at the north and if there is a wall behind it (not an open window), than the mountain star can be activated here. As opposed to the west. Since you had mentioned that west has a ws8. And ws8, goes with a water position not a mountain position. For example:- MS = 8 This is the current period - mountain star location. In your case, it is at North WS=8 In your case is at West. Or this is the water wealth location. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Davis, You can activate the mountain star which is in the room and it should be activated at the direction of the of NE. You can place a paper weight or hang a large painting if it happens to be a wall. Warmest Regards Robert Lee -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'free-advice' suppressed suppressed> Date: Wednesday, March 17, 1999 7:22 PM Subject: Activating Mountain Star do I go about activating it / them?

Dear Anon, 1. A mountain star should not be activated in the centre of a room. A certain of a room should have clear space. 2. A mountain star cannot apply as and when we want it to. It has to be `found' and if there is a mountain star applied under certain conditions such as: - A backdoor or in a room. 3. No a ceiling fan (moving blades) even with a external decorative cover at the middle (with the magnetic coils) at the centre cannot be considered a mountain star. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Diane, 1. Black colour represents the water element. 2. It is acceptable for a weak water person to be assocated with Black (or blue or grey) the colours identified with Water element. 3. Usually wrought iron beds the exposed area (in my opinion) does not have that much of an impact on the environment of the room as most parts of it is not seen. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sheila, In my opinion, luck corners or `sector' Feng Shui or paying homage to corners are equally "non-existent' or unreliable / undependable situations. This is considered a modern invention is too general to be of use for many of us. You should treat the small figurine as a decor item in your home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Yes, you can still activate the frontage of the house with a mini waterfall. 2. Yes, you can use the curtain to block the view of the staircase. 3. Do take note that if the frontage of the house e.g. the main entrance door and where there is also sliding panels at the front area, the cause for concern is i.e. family members especially children such as females in the house will have difficulty getting married. This is particular `true' if the main door entrance is large in relation to the frontage i.e. living room area i.e. it extends from one wall to the other wall. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Andrew, 1. In my opinion, the concept of South-West corner = Romance and others like North = career is considered too general. 2. With careful reasoning, how is it that this can be applied to everyone. If this is the case, everyone doing this i.e. enhancing the SW will automatically get into a romance. It sounds too easy.. rite? 3. One would better off, go do something more fruitful than to rely on such a method. 4. Often, the same question arise - Oh My God.. my toilet is at the " South-West ". Does it mean that romance is flushed down the toilet. 5. Lets be more practical. It does not mean that if 100,000 people enhance a specific corner such as South West, it will…

Dear Gines, 1. Thanks for the attachment posted. 2. Yes, the attached layout where I had plotted the centrepoint is close to what you had plotted. (The balcony can be omitted.) 3. Overall, the plus point is that your house is a complete rectangle (exclude the protusion i.e. balcony). 4. Looks like the toilet is considered at the centre-point of the house. 5. Frankly, and honestly speaking, I have not found a proper cure for this. The only thing that has been advised is to keep it more yang or bright. Avoid, placing anything surrounding the toilet wall or the passage way. Warmest Regards, Cecil

In reference to my previous comments, I would like to pose an intriguing question regarding the concepts of fame and recognition. What implications arise for individuals who do not own a home? One might argue that residing in a small room could still allow for the enhancement of these factors. However, what if someone lacks a home entirely? Does this mean they are destined to miss out on fame, travel, and other opportunities? Traditional Feng Shui, in its original context, examines broader landscapes, such as major cities like Canton or even entire regions like Singapore, before narrowing its focus to specific sites and buildings. Unfortunately, many F…

So...no tree planting in the W? or don't plant a lone tree in the W? I am thinking along the lines of a plum tree or something to capture the sunshine in front of the house/to give some shade from the glare of the setting sun. Also, to raise the value of the property. Anyways, thanks for the insight and I think I'm gonna go ahead and plant it.

Dear Cheui May, 1. You brought up a good question. 2. I would apply the "33.3 percent Rule set." 3. I call this the 33.3 percent rule set as a general guide to better understand certain Feng Shui concepts that are universal: For example, 3.1. When we determine a "missing corner", we usually, say that a missing corner is one where it is 33.3 percent missing or the area is greater than 33.3 percent. 3.2. When one wears e.g. a `T' shirt, and to enhance oneself, for example a weak water person could e.g. wear blue shirt. It covers more than 33.3 percent of his entire surface of his body. Contrast this with wearing a ring or many rings. This is just an example. 3.3. For water …

Dear Guek Rian, 1. In my opinion, don't shift your heavy projection TV as yet. 2. Basically, each floor has a certain kilo newton weight load bearing. 3. More importantly, the concept of clear space is directed at the main entrance area. Distinct from what is placed above this structure. With sufficient engineering load bearing for the upper floors, since the location where you placed the projector is not the main entrance area; there is relatively no issue here. Therefore, do not apply the mountain star too rigidly or literally speaking. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Gua or Kua cannot be used to locate the best placement of a water fountain. 2. The two dynamics is used: 2.1 Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. 2.2 Here, since the living room is often symbolically a `water' area, a water feature can still `hug' one of the walls. 2.2 Under the Compass School, the Flying Star Feng Shui is used to find the best location for a water position or alternatively to avoid a water position. 3. If one is new to Feng Shui, it is best to understand these concepts, first. 4. In addition, it is often unfavourable for the breadwinner who is a `weak fire' or `strong water' element to have water inside the home. 4.1 For example, water may further …

Dear Anon, 1. Normally, a water star implies a flat surface. A fish tank need not necessary "comply" with the water star i.e. clear space if it is tall. 2. The usual advise is not to place a fish tank in the bedroom. Here, bedrooms should be more Yin than Yang. However, this depends on the tolerance of individuals. It is like the mirror facing the bed. Some of us may feel uncomfortable while others do not feel anything at all. 3. A mountain star has to be located and cannot be activated at the window location. In my opinion, as the fish tank is most likely to be `tall', it is not necessary the equivalent of a water star in this case. Contrast a true water star e.g. a po…

Dear Master, Happy New Year. Recently I tried to activite my Romance Sector in my bedroom. I am Kua Number 3 (wood), weak yin water, but if according to eight house theory my romance sector is southeast. (I readsomewhere from internet). I use an ordinary compass to gauge the southeast sector in my bedroom, then I put 2 pink roses in a vase in that southeast area of my bedroom. The 2pink roses are fake but look like real. The color of my vase is light purple although I am advised to use green vase because Iam wood element. But till now, it doesn't seems to work. I am still single. There are also other method like rearing live goldfishes etc but I don't like …

Dear SL, 1. In my opinion, and from what you had related, it would normally not the norm to take the direction of the gate to the building to determine the compass direction i.e. one of the 15degree increments needed in the Flying Star analysis. 2. Sometimes taking the reading of the `gate' may perhaps indicated that the person (FS master) may be looking at the `frontage' (which is not necessarily the front door) or if the practitioner has difficulty in locating the front main entrance. 3. It is my believe that, in most instances, FS practitioners would normally determine the compass direction of your front main entrance and then plot the Flying Star. As you mentioned, th…

Dear Anamika, For application of colours, it is advisable: 1. If one is not sure what colours to use, then neutral colours can be used. For example white or pastel shades (light shades) should be used for both interior and exterior walls. 2. It does not matter if the exterior wall is facing east and therefore, we assume that the inner wall is facing west. We should instead consider that sector as being in the `east'. Here, we should look at both this external wall and interior wall as located in the east than to say that one side face east while the other faces west. 3. If one uses, Feng Shui, the colour of the room walls should preferably be painted to suit the element …

1. The most common "cure" is to have:- 1.1 Installing lamp post(s) at the perimeter, so that from top view, it "forms" an outline of the home. Preferably, this perimeter light(s) are turned on say in the evening. So from an aerial view, it "makes" the house profile look "rectangular". 1.2 In addition to the above, if one does landscaping, it should try to follow the profile of the "missing" corners". Again, imagine this from an aerial view. 2. This is the best that can be done, under such circumstances. 3. In addition, if you can apply Flying star Feng Shui, try to check the qi at various sectors of the "openings" it could be a window or patio door or say main door o…
