Dear Anon, 1. It is always good to ask the following questions:- 1.1. What is the purpose of Feng Shui? 1.2. What are it's strengths? 1.3. What are it's weakness? 2. Please note that Feng Shui is only about the influence of Earth on our Luck (Earth Luck). 3. It is not a cure all for everything. 4. Heaven Luck 5. Perhaps, you can partially use Ba Zi (Pillars of Destiny or popularly known as Eight Characters) to look at our Heaven's map. And from learning it, help us look at our given luck situation. For example, look at the Luck Pillars (this comes under 10 years, 5 years and yearly and also monthly or daily.) 6. But monthly and daily is in my opinion too much a hassle. …

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I have been away from Singapore since 2005 and I have been working in Shanghai since then. It wasn't a delibrate decision to relocate, but rather, an opportunity that came along the way. My career has not been going too smoothly and I wonder if location will affect one's element/ba zi and career path? I have been told that I have the TianMa travelling star in my ba zi, which is why I wouldmost likely develop a career outside my place of birth? My ba zi (female) is Lunar (1981, 8th month, 13 day) at 7.00 p.m. to 8.59 p.m. and I am a strong Yin Metal (using the online generator on this website). Dear Leslie, Traditional Feng Shui is about Yin and Yang. Further down the chain, on the next level is the Five Elements concept. 1. For example, a normal mirror is considered a `Yin' object. 2. Mirrors are known to be able to bounce Qi (or Ch'i energy). For concepts like the Eight Aspirations / Eight Associations, this is one of the `lowest' or least important aspect in Feng Shui. One reason for saying this is because it is too general a theory as it does not apply to a specific group of person but to nearly everyone. Imagine, if everyone in the same company or for the matter the whole country tries to enhance their `Career' sector what would be the result like? Unlike…

1. Missing corner(s) depending on where it is can have an impact on the Feng Shui of the home. 2. In particular, if the missing corner is at the NW sector which affects the "head-of the house". Quote: We will soon move to a new apartment with a missing corner East, facing NW 3. Not sure what you mean, but hopefully it is not para 2, above. 4. For landed property, landscaping such as from a "top-down" helicopter view, one has landscaping e.g. plants or bushes or something that forms the outline of the missing corner would be best. And at the corner, a lamp can be placed at the corner.

Dear Richard, Li Guo De Richard wrote: My eldest brother is geting ROM one month before my chinese wedding. Will my brother ROM clash with my chinese wedding? Generally, ROM already officially recognise the marriage legally. So it is as goodas holding a traditional wedding ceremony for many people. But most still go by the traditional wedding as more important event. However,it is advisable to keep at least 3 months - 6 months apart to ensure that the two couples do not clash each other's good luck. If cannot be avoided, then probably the couples should not attend each other's ROM or Wedding Ceremony to avoid the good luck from being clashed away. Hope that helps. W…

Dear Rose, 1. Firstly, although white is associated with the metal element, generally, it is a very safe colour to paint, since it is also a neutral colour for the home. (Even though both of you are considered as a strong water person - it is ok). 2. Traditionally, therefore, white is a neutral and pleasant color. 3. In general, under period 8, pastel shades of earth colors like beige is usually a better option since it is the "color" of Period 8. 4. So, in general both colors are acceptable. 5. In order to fly to period 8, one may have to remove a portion of the roof or change some of the roof-tiles of the home. In an apartment, symbolically one change to period 8, …

Dear Anon, Thanks for bring up this interesting question. 1. For a better picture, please refer to: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/5element.htm Please look thru, the TEN HEAVENLY STEMS, where: Fire element can be : Lightning vs Burning incense or Sun vs kitchen Wood element : Timer vs Hewn timber or a small plant For each element there is a `BIG' and `SMALL' 2. One should remember not to over `kill' or under `kill' in Feng Shui. The thing to remember is that each element has a `BIG' and a `SMALL'. For example, 6 coins refers to BIG METAL. It is quite acceptable to use BIG METAL to neutarlise a beam. But if it is e.g. the edge of the corner, do we need such a `BIG' metal as…

Dear David, Teo David wrote: I have recently spotted this structure which is in front of a HDB flat. I understand from your valuable website that based on the left green dragon, right white tiger, front phoenix, and back turtle theory, will this structure posed any negative effect which the flat is facing it? Appreciate if you can fork out some of your valuable time to clear my doubt? Thank you very much. Generally, this structure looks like a typical tomb layout. So if it does faces your home directly, then it will impact your house feng shui somewhat. As it resembles a tomb. So will not be that auspicious if any. The lower floor unitfacing this structure will have the…

Dear Sasha, 1. This would be based on Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui. 2. From my personal experience, it would be better to avoid having the young willow tree at the front of the main entrance as I personally feel that such a tree is (indeed - my belief) to be inauspicious especially that it slices through the front door.) 3. In such a situation, if you still leave the tree, I seldom recommend a Ba Gua mirror but, it should help. Or if there are any religious charms of your religion, it can be placed there as an alternative. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi, Generally, you should not have any object blocking your main door, as it will divert or split away the Qi (C'hi) from flowing into the house through the main door. Also, if you can see the threat it is often considered a poison arrow. However, may I ask how long have you moved into the house. And whether since you move in did you encounter any problems? One way to see if the tree is really bad or not is to see if you have any major problems (sickness, accident etc.) Also wether or not you should cut down the tree also depends very much on whether it helps you block other more dangerous poison arrow. For example if there a street lamp behind the tree, then the tree act…

Dear Yang Ming, 1. Usually, in a small island like Singapore, you're surrounded by the sea on every side. 2. Depending on where you are, the way the sun heats the land (which gets hotter) compared to the sea, along with changes in high and low pressure, can cause air to move from the land to the sea and the other way around. 3. As a result, air can come in from either side of the house. 4. However, if a bunch of windows or the main door is shut, air can't flow in from one side of the window to the other. 5. If air is only coming in from one part of the house, especially in a new build, it might mean that air is being pulled in from the building's …

Dear Carina, Please see below:- If you can provide me with a rough sketch e.g. a graphic file attachment it would help. It is very difficult to provide u a `detailed' comment such as whether a corner is at threat or not just on a few sentences. For heat, or heat on the wall and you can still feel it in the evening, there is no Feng Shui method to measure how `inaupicious it is. Where possible, no direct sun light is best or if possible, keep the bed away from the affected wall if possible. So long as the room temperature is comfortable, this is ok. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. In my opinion, it would be better to `fix' the leak. 2. Overall, using a metal windchime or metal at sectors are relatively safe: a. In past forum messages, I mentioned that metal element is a common cure for most of the Flying Star ailments. b. Therefore, there is relatively no harm using it. The only repercussion of using a windchime wrongly is or the result is problems related to sleep. It is felt that playful imps may give us nightmare and for those who cannot sleep properly afterwards, should remove them. 3. Even if North West is considered a good sector, windchime does not automatically become a good candidate. Usually, it has to be analysed within a …

What I wondered was, if most of the parts are made of glass (only one metal rod, and the rest are glass squares), does this make it more similar to the water element? Especially since it is in a blue color? Do the six glass squares represent the metal element because of the number 6? Would it be better to buy this style of wind chime in the purple color (fire element) so as not to add too much water to the wood elements 3 and 4 found in this sector? Or is the blue color ok because water and metal go together? If I bought one of the chimes with metal rods but not having the right number of rods (having, say, 3, 4 or 5 rods) what would be the effect of that? What is preferr…

Dear Liz, Thanks for sharing with us the information. In my opinion, I feel that what you mentioned is correct and a certain `vacuum' or `pressure' created during the period. I am equally no expert in this but, it is also my personal observation. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, I agree that some FS practioners may use wind chimes to attract wealth. However, the Buddhist and Toaist call the dead using bells. 1. It is best to avoid using metal wind chimes at West, North-West and North-East. West and North-West are of the Metal Element and Yin locations. North-East is traditionally the Devil's Gate and one may inadvertently attract imps or playful spirits as they may be attracted to the sound of the wind chime. 2. The above is the traditional reasoning or advice to take note. 3. Most of the time, due to human nature, we do tend to `over-eat' or go to extremes to purchase not one but many wind chimes. Normally, using our sixth sense, it i…

Dear Anon, Yes, placing too many wind chimes can indeed be an "over-kill" especially if one uses the light weight alluminium type of wind chime. For those using the much heavier copper (hollow rod) with an I-ching coin clinger, this type, in my opinion, makes almost few or no sound at all. (Even in heavy winds). Perhaps, some of these, (for decoration) is not an "over-kill" since they are (nearly totally ineffective in making large sounds). Why not consider planting plants or shrubs on the fence or use "day" curtains. Both are equally acceptable. "If it is not seen, it no longer becomes a threat:)" Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Tammie, 1. You can go the Free report tools at http://myfengshui.geomancy.net to use the Free Flying Star report. 2. Before you do this, you need to find out exactly what degree is your main entrance door direction. 3. You can use this site to find out exactly how to find the compass direction:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-cecilcompass.htm 4. Under the Free Flying Star House Report, it will tell you all the problem areas (if any). You can find out from the report whether there is any inauspicious sectors here. Usually if that sector is inauspicious, majority of the time, there is most likely an imbalance caused by bad earth or bad wood. In some of th…

Dear Yeow Leong, 1. Usually, a 6-rod metal (or aluminum hollow rod) wind chime can be used as a “cure” for Flying Star sectors that have imbalances, such as the numeral #5 or combinations involving it, or other sector imbalances. 2. Thus, I would assume that your FS practitioner has identified that location, or the two sectors (i.e. North and Northwest), as requiring a constant metal cure. 3. Here, the 6-rod metal wind chime represents “Big Metal,” which is used to constantly “hammer” a bad sector. 4. In my opinion, if your house was built in Period 7 (i.e. between 1984 to date), usually—based on my own analysis—the two areas that can use a wind chime …
