  1. Dear Anon, Generally, Eight Aspiration / Eight House / Flying Star are part of what is known as the compass school of feng shui. 1. Eight Aspiration where the directions for the various sectors are always fixed based on the bagua direction is the least important of the many concepts. 2. Eight House is more personalised thatn Eight Aspiration where each person depending on the year of birth, will have a certain 4 good and 4 bad directions. This helps you determine whether a house or sector of a home generally suits you or not. If a house has excellent feng shui but it doesn't suit you then, you get very little luck from the house itself. 3. Flying Star is something like a birth chart of the house itself. Similiar to like Ba Zi is a chart of a person's luck. This concepts helps you determine where are the good sectors and bad sectors in a home itself. It does not consider any suitability to any individual person. But generally, helps you determine the various magnetic influence, ie where is your potential wealth sectors, where you should position your water feature. It also helps you determine where there are potential sickness related stars or the various stars (ie sickness, robbery, misfortune, lawsuits etc.) So in general, you should always use flying star to help correct existing problems. Ensure that the house at least should be suitable to you and that all family members have a suitable bedroom etc. Eight Aspiration is only applied when all Flying Star and Eight House requirements are done. This is because Eight Aspiration such as South-West is Romance sector are very static templates. Why I say this is imagine, what this concept tells you is that for everyone on this earth your romance sector is South-West. So this means that say in an office if there is a particular girl that other male colleagues like, they all rush to follow this tip that by placing 99 roses in the South-West sector of the home, they will automatically get the heart of the girl. Unfortunately, this will never work simply because it is simply too general a concept. The only additional analysis which isn't considered is the external Shapes and Forms. You must always remember, that matter how nicely you do up your interior of the home, but if your surrounding and exterior building is collapsing or run-down, then no matter how much you enhance within your home, it will not help you that much. This is why despite having all these compass schools, the most important in a home is not the interior, but rather the external factors. If you can get house with excellent external factors (ie a house with receive position, then you already have won half the battle in choosing a good home.) Only then should you focus on your interior. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

  2. Final Step 3: Applying the Five Elements Concept onto the Flying Star [House Gua] Chart to a. Enhance luck or b. Neutralise inauspicious Qi Note: Traditional Feng Shui does not need to purchase expensive commercial products in the name of Feng Shui. Related:

  3. Happy New Year! I know you are referring to a home. However, in my opinion, the best to understand the whole concept is to use an example from an Office Feng Shui Review. A Step-by-step Case Study of the application of Flying Star Feng Shui [House Gua] followed by the use of the Eight House (or Life Aspirations / 4 Good/Bad directions) Step 1: Applying Flying Star Feng Shui [House Gua] 1. This first slide shows the importance of finding e.g. the best sector for the Head or in this Case the CEO. 2. For example, the office environment is limited to the "white areas". And in 2023 onwards (till 2043)., two of the best locations are North = #9 water star or Career and overall luck sector. 3. And NE = #9 Mountain Star or the Networking and relationship sector from 2023 onwards (till 2043). However, this area does not belong to the business or company. Step 2: Applying Eight House (4 Good/Bad Directions) 4. In an office environment, it is always ideal to find the best or most optimal room for the boss. In this example is the CEO. 4.1. It is equally nice also if his seating can also match his optimal. 5. Known from Step 1 is that the best rooms are located at North. And there are two possible rooms for the CEO. 5.1. Fortunately, either of the two Office Rooms 1 and 2 in BLUE are suitable for this CEO. Furthermore, it is equally good or nice-to have this CEO sit facing "West" direction 6. This example also shows next best office rooms for e.g. Dy CEO, Finance, HR Legal, Operations. 6.1. Given that this is office has several ranks of managers, not possible for everyone to be located at the best seats. 7. Please note that this same concept can equally be applied to a HOME Feng Shui. As this example shows the flow: 1st Flying Star then nice-to Eight House (4 Good/Bad) directions.

  4. These are some considerations: 1. In period 7; usually if Flying Stars are applied; you should be looking for the location of the following numbers: Mountain Star (MS)#7 and Water(W)#7. As at that period : 1984 to 2003; the reigning wealth star is = #7. 2. In period 8; using the same Period 7, SW1 chart; 2.1. #7 becomes the past prosperity number. 2.2. #8 becomes the CURRENT prosperity wealth star. 2.3. Thus there will still be no change in the flying star chart. But locate where the MS#8 is at and the W#8 also. 2.4. For example, in period 8, theWater star#8 is located at North and the Mountain Star #8 is at East sector. 3. In period 9; especially if the house is not completely torn down or major renovations done; one should still use Period 7, SW1 chart. 3. But since this will be period 9; then locate where are the Water#9 and MS#9. As in Period 9; #9 becomes the current prosperity star(s) while #8 becomes the PAST prosperity stars. 4. Your sum of fear is realised! In fact, in Period 9 and if we still retain the Period 7 SW1 chart; the MS#9 flies to the SE and Water #9 files to the South. These two sectors will have auspicious "Current" prosperity stars. 5. Thus, based on THE FACTS; most likely your friend's master MAY be pulling a fast one on your friend. 6. A Period 7, SW1 facing home will have MS#7 and Water#7 at it's frontage, thus as I had mentioned previously #7, today : is the PAST prosperity star(s). 7. BUT if you are using Period 8, SW1 stars then you will find the Water star = #8. While the Mountain Star (MS) = #8. Thus, if there is visible frontage at the frontage of such a house and there is sufficient back(ing) at the home; then in theory; this is a good house. 8. Thus, frankly, I have clearly illustrated, above that there is nothing difficult about applying Flying Star. And the fact speaks for itself. 9. To sum up: if the house has no major renovations done or torn and rebuilt usually it is still a Period 7 e.g. SW1 home. 9.1. Only thing to remember that if this is 1984 to 2003; then locate theLeft (MS) and Right (Water) stars = 7 = CURRENT prosperity during that period. 9.2. Correspondingly, if this is 2004 to 2023 (under Period 8); then locate where are the #8's ? 9.3. If this is 2024 to 2043 (under Period 9) then locate where are the #8's; that's all. 10. From this logic; I am afraid; if purely based on Flying stars; your friend's master has just pulled a fast one on him! Your some of concerns are realised... Lots of smoke coming from that master's ears for sure!

  5. 1. Further to what I had mentioned; this is the template for what I had mentioned, previously in an earlier e-mail. 2. Comparing the sectors:- 2.1. For example from now to 2023 (Period 8); if the frontage is at North and a bedroom is located at e.g. East; 2.2. While from 2024 onwards to 2043b(Period 9); we find that the wealth stars had gone to South = toilet and there is a missing corner at SE; then when comparing the periods; From now to 2023, seems more auspicious then Period 9. 3. Thus logic says that one needs to compare the stars with sectors for either period to see which is considered better or worse-off or even no-change?

  6. Is my Period 8 house still lucky from 2024 till 2043? Many have collected their keys on or between 2004 till 2023. And due to the change of qi, luck can change as we move into year 2024 onwards. [Note: In Singapore, for HDB flats, one has to check the "Lease commencement date or Start date" to confirm that 1st owner's key collection was on/after 2004 onwards till 2023. For Landed Homes, Condo, EC it is called the Temporary Occupation License or T.O.P. date.] Some have by now felt things may not be smooth or have health issues. The reality is the Feng Shui Qi or lucky sectors will change for either for the better or for the worse. 1. N1 = Less lucky under Period 9. As formerly double #8's at it's frontage. Thus not so smooth under Period 9. https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/20083-flying-star-period-8-n1/ 2. N2 & N3 = Better luck under Period 9. From 2024 till 2043. https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/20084-flying-star-period-8-n2-n3/ 3. NE1 = Less lucky under Period 9. It also depends on the layout plan. https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/20085-flying-star-period-8-ne1/ 4. NE2 & NE3 = Take extra care of health issues from 2024 onwards. https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/20086-flying-star-period-8-ne2-ne3/ 5. E1 = Less lucky under Period 9. As Current Prosperity #9 Career & Overall Luck is often wasted at the "rear" or SW of the unit. Check the layout to confirm. https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/20087-flying-star-period-8-e1/ 6. E2 & E3 = Luck should be better under Period 9. Again depends on the layout plan - Check what sectors are found at NE = Current Prosperity Career - Good especially if this is the living room or master bedroom & Overall Luck & NW = Current Prosperity Networking & Relationship Luck - front door?. https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/20088-flying-star-period-8-e2-e3/ 7. SE1 = Less Lucky under Period 9. https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/20089-flying-star-period-8-se1/ 8. SE2 & SE3 = Lucky during Period 8. For Period 9 generally less lucky. But depends on layout. As Current Prosperity Career and Overall Luck is trapped or wasted at the centrepoint of the unit. https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/20091-flying-star-period-8-se2-se3/ 9. S1 = Unlucky under Period 8. In general more lucky in Period 9. However this depends on where is the living room & external features of the unit. Extra care if e.g. a bedroom e.g. Master Bedroom is located at SE with Misfortune/sickness. https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/20092-flying-star-period-8-s1/ 10. S2 & S3 = Less lucky under Period 9. As formerly double #8's at it's frontage had now become Past or Gone Luck! https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/20093-flying-star-period-8-s2-s3-less-lucky-under-period-9-as-formerly-double-8s-at-its-frontage/ 11. SW1 = Take extra care of health issues from 2024 onwards. https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/20094-flying-star-period-8-sw1/ 12. SW2 & SW3 = Depends on external features. Can be luckier under Period 9 especially depending on where is the living room. https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/20095-flying-star-period-8-sw2-sw3/ 13. W1 = Better luck under Period 9 but this depends totally on layout plan. https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/20096-flying-star-period-8-w1/ 14. W2 & W3 = Less lucky under Period 9 but depends on where is the living room. https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/20097-flying-star-period-8-w2-w3/ 15. NW1 = Less lucky under Period 9. But also depends on layout. As Current Prosperity Career and Overall Luck is trapped or wasted at the centrepoint of the unit. https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/20098-flying-star-period-8-nw1/ 16. NW2 & NW3 = Less lucky under Period 9. https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/20099-flying-star-period-8-nw2-nw3/

  7. Period 8 N2 & N3 N2 352.5 - 7.4 & N3 7.5 - 22.4 degrees Less lucky under Period 9. As formerly double #8's at it's frontage. Thus not so smooth under Period 9.

  8. 1. Thanks for sharing your concern. As this is a good and relevant question. 2. There are differences in opinions even in the Feng Shui Master (FSM) community. 3. In my opinion, generally, there are TWO MAIN arguments:- ONE (1):- 3.1. Day of move-in (Based on the concept of the most Yang Qi) 3.1.1 This is based on logic and common sense: where it is considered that a brand new home is just but an empty shell = Yin = No activities. Furthermore, "standard" flats have bare living/dining and bedroom floors. How to start staying in such a home? 3.2. Therefore for the above reason, some FSM often consider the day of moving-in as the start date. Here there is indeed Yang Qi. 3.1.2 Thus, based on this premise: a house is still vacant or yet no YANG Qi. Therefore, this group of FSMs may consider this. Thus the Flying Star chart would depend on this. TWO (2):- 3.2. The day the foundation is laid (Based on the day of "conception" or in a home the laying of the first Foundation = Topping up ceremony [if any]) 3.2.1 Some conservative FSMs say that the day the BLOCK's foundation is laid, this should be the birthday of the house. 3.2.2 This is similar to in the past and even now, many Chinese say that our actual birthday is to add 1 year to our present birthdate. This is real: "Not something I puck out of the air." As traditionally, every one is in our mother's womb for 9 months. Thus this is the rationale for adding that ONE year! 3.2.3 Thus some FSMs insists that the house/unit period is based on the start date of construction! 3.3. Date of T.O.P. 3.3.1 In my opinion, this is often used, today. Especially by FSMs for homes that had T.O.P several years after T.O.P. 3.3.2 For two reasons: REASON ONE (1):- 3.3.3: Many can't even remember when the moved-into their new home. In fact, just give some of us a year or more.. and we really don't remember the date. Unless we noted it somewhere or moved-in on a special occasion. 3.3.4 Worse, if the home has changed hands with a 2nd, 3rd or more owners/tenants!. How to ask the First owner! Even if asked, may not remember when they actually moved-in! REASON TWO (2):- 3.3.5 HDB or developers are not required to offically record the date of first piling work or laying the ground or topping up ceremony (if any). Some homes were built in 2 1/2 years.. others 3 years.. And homes like HDB City Vue T.O.P. 5 or more years later. 4. Thus this variant of the "Moved-in or Yang Qi" is difficult to be implemented. 5. This is why many FSMs find that T.O.P. date or for HDB = "Lease commencement Date" is always available. As one can official check one's home's lease commencement date. As this date is relevant to confirm the remainder of their 99 year leasehold homes. Western or Lunar Calendar: Moved-in before or after Chinese New Year? For home owners that moved-in between two Flying Star Periods such as 1983 - 1984 ; 2003 - 2004; and 2004 - 2023? 6. Other considerations is the use of the Western or Lunar calendar? For example: Should I consider the start of Chinese New Year (CNY) 2024 that I moved in as belonging to Period 8 or 9. Or that I moved in before the start of CNY as belonging to Period 8? Fortunately, this only happens on the fringe of Period 8 or 9. And not every other year's consideration. 6.1. Again, this is about recall. If the home has changed hands a few times. Who do we check to find out when the first owner moved-in? Or that many of us even cannot remember the move-in date after 1 year or more? 6.2. I understand nowadays an owner of a unit is able to log in electronically into their property's profile. And query the HDB system for the unit's "Lease Start Date". 6.3. HDB through the years call this by various names. Sometimes HDB calls it as "Lease Commencement Date". 6.4. In the private estate world of ECs/condos and landed properties: they use only one term: T.O.P. for this! 7. Not too long ago, there is a need or requirement to obtain a Valuation Report. And that valuation report will say: Lease Commencement Date:- 8. Note: The above report is no longer in use. As the whole method or process of purchase has been changed, today. 9. In the past many HDB documents and reports always referenced it as: "Lease Commencement Date". But nowadays there is no more standard. It has also been called the "Lease Start Date". 10. I think I know why: For programmers: they usually try to shorten descrptions for their programs! Thus perhaps use Start instead of Commencement. LOL 11. In conclusion and based on common sense: many FSMs very much depend on the T.O.P. date especially for re-sale HDB homes. For the above reasons.

  9. 1. There is frankly no encyclopedia or a manual to say for sure whether a home will change period or not. 2. As this is not an exact science. 3. Usually, when we enter a home; some people use their intutition to feel whether there is a potential change or not. 4. No matter what, many geomancers would plot two charts and compare them. 5. Frankly, Period 9 is just around the corner. And usually by 2022 onwards.. even if a home is under Period 8 may be more luck or less lucky when it comes to Period 9. 5.1 This is one more consideration. And you should prepare three charts: present, Period 8 and another for Period 9. (In case you might want to change to Period 9 instead). Although it is still a few more years more.
